[Q] WiMax code on back of phone? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When you take out the battery, there's a WiMax code (along with the meid and others). What is it? And if you lost your WiMax keys, could this help you? (I didn't lose my key).

I think sprint can do that if you call customer sercice. Never checked if there is a setting in the os its self. Or you can just press *67 before dialing a number each time.

If you want it permanently blocked you can do it from your account on sprint.com. you just go to "changes to my services." Or something similar on the right side of the screen.

Refurbished

Ok I recently replaced my Evo through Asurion and when I got my phone I noticed it wasn't new, it was refurbished. In order for me to root it using revolutionary, I need the S/N to generate a beta key. My phone doesn't have the S/N on the back like the first one did. But there is one on the battery with 14 digits alone with the P/N. I was wondering if that is the correct amount of digits and if that's what I should enter to generate the beta key
Please help because I really need some root/sense 3.0 love these days

If revolutionary reads your device it will tell you your S/N

Transferring wife's # to my Evo

My Epic 4G Touch is coming tomorrow, my wife is gonna use my Evo 4G. Do I need to unroot or flash a sense rom or anything like that to get my wife's # transferred to the Evolution?

Sense ROM (use stock) is needed for that kind of stuff. I believe there is an option in Accounts on sprint.com to switch numbers online. Or, you can always go to the store

Losing IMEI?

So I have been reading around and people have been saying to be careful flashing because you could wipe your imei...I've never heard of this coming from the t989...I was always under the impression the imei was permanently in your phone.
What exactly causes this, how can it be prevented, and how should I back up my imei?

No one knows the how, what or why. As far as I know though its not much of an issue anymore, but can still hapoen.
Only thing you can do is prep for it.

This happened to me once after flashing several roms and I could not get 4G speeds, it took me a while to figure out it that my IMEI was blank and t mobile records showed I had a Sony Ericsson phone...so weird. I was able to restore the IMEI through the link above, get 4G back and I haven't lost it again.

Imei and rom

I was wandering if I lost my rooted phone and someone put a ROM on it and the imei changes. Can my phone company still blacklist it since the imei changes?
And if the phone blacklisted, would the phone work on other carrier if the person unlock it?
Can phone company track who using the phone? Like who login with their gmail and other account? Or which WiFi the connect to? Or which Sim card was used on the phone?

They have a number of apps to help with phone recovery.
Plan b, Prey, and Cerberus are a few.
Rooting your phone doesn't make it easier for a thief to use when stolen, however
