I was running a custom 4.1.1 rom (sprint port) and then flashed the stock rom via odin. Since then my phone cannot detect any GPS satellites (I tried different apps). I even re-flashed the custom rom but it still isn't working. I read somewhere that this could be because of a different kernel.
Can someone held me please?
The Kernel under settings is as follows:
3.0.31-178444
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPTT Sun Sep 16 13:57:17 KST
2012
Is this the correct one? If not, how do I rectify this?
Remember, god helps those who help the NOOBS.
Someone mentioned usi g triangle away fixed it for them. I think it was a thread posted in General.

i'd say go through the steps that the op did in the thread doc linked to...
which is... to full wipe and odin back to unrooted stock.
had the gps problem too, this fixed it
Hello everyone, first off I want to say I have flashed many different phones with CM over the past few years. I have been a fan of android phones since Day 1. I got a G1 the day they came out and was pretty active in the scene up about about 2 years ago. I had a G2 for awhile as well, loved it... had CM on it as well. Anyway, the problem at hand is this Galaxy S III.
I have flashed many phones for friends and co-workers and whomever asks. I have NEVER had such a problem with flashing a phone as this one.
Apparently its a regionally special model (SGH-T999L).
I have downloaded CWM 6.0.3.1 after rooting with motochopper (easiest root experience ever), then I attempted to flash to CM10.1.2. The phone is currently on 4.1.2. When I attempt to flash from CWM, it gives the assert failed error. I have seen a few other threads about this but they were regarding other carriers (AT&T) and honestly I have tried a million and one things in attempt to get this to flash, I have seriously spent over 8 hours today trying to get this flashed to CM10.1.2 and even 10.1, I even tried using the touch version of CWM and tried TWRP to see if I'd get a different result... But no.. same result.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have tried everything I can think of on all three platforms... Win7, MacOSX 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10 and 12.... cannot get it to flash to CM no matter what. I am almost positive it is something I am overlooking. If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, I will gladly send you a present via fedex.
Thanks in advance.
Senor Y.
This is covered in my T999L q&a thread.

Basically in some roms, particularly cm and aosp roms they check the bootloader to make sure its up to date. The T999L is just so new that many devs have not yet added its bootloader to the updater-script. Read the info I have in the thread I linked and if you need help editing the script, let me know.
Ill try to fix and upload the rom shortly, just to make it easy for everyone.

Thanks, I figured it was something stupid like that. I will fire up my windows VM and grab Notepad++ and get down to business.

Thanks again man, I followed your instructions and removed the assert lines... flashed with 10.1.2 -- then flashed the gapps back on and in business on the first try.
I am going to pass the link along to #Cyanogenmod on freenode because there wasn't anyone on there who could help me last night.

Doc,
One last question, is there a baseband update I need to apply for CM10.1.2 / 4.2.2 ? -- I got the gapps installed and there doesn't appear to be problems yet, but the know-it-alls in #cyanogenmod seem to think I need to install a baseband update but they cannot provide me with a link... so I was wondering what your take on that is.
Thanks again,
Senor Y.

It's bad advice. Ignore it.
Very bad advice! !!
Baseband is your modem which should have nothing to do with your rom. They probably meant bootloader. But the T999L only has one version of firmware available right now, so it wouldn't be possible anyway. Theyd probably tell you to use MD5, but that would brick your phone!
Glad you asked!

FYI, (as stated before), the Nightly builds work with the MB7 bootloader
I thought i had an issue w/ the radio this morning, but it turned out to be a fluke... a reboot resolved it...
Thanks,

I was going to try beanstalk 4.3 and am unsure about the order to do the installation. Do I flash the hercules recovery zip, back up ROM, wipe phone, flash rom , flash gapps, in that order?
Did you read the OP in the Beanstalk thread?? Might help.

Yes I did and it say to do it in that order. I thought that seemed odd, so I would ask.

Always best to do what the OP says....in most cases....rather than have people who may not even know what they are doing tell you different.

Just make sure you understand what you're reading before you do anything...or things can go bad.

Does anyone know of a simple flashable mod for stock rooted s3? Had one in the last rom I used. but I had to go back to stock and NEED a louder phone.
Naddict has one that he sent me, you might want to hit him up. If not I can send you the one he gave me.

Try this one. It increases the volume across the whole system 2-3%. Make sure you thank Naddict.

I can't seem to find a kernel that will play nice with my phone. I'm running the latest dandroid rom, and every kernel I've tried makes everything all glitchy, and after minutes unusable. I'm not new to flashing, or modding my phone at all. I've done all the wiping and permission fixing. Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to find a kernel that will keep my bluetooth connected to my car when playing music. That's a whole other problem I've been having someone suggested trying a new kernel.
Have you given the stock md5 kernel a shot? I've got one that'll remove anything added by other custom ones and has the correct stock modules if you want to give it a shot.
I'll post the link in a few. @TheLastSidekick has a kernel thread in the General section too if you want to look there.
