I can't seem to find a kernel that will play nice with my phone. I'm running the latest dandroid rom, and every kernel I've tried makes everything all glitchy, and after minutes unusable. I'm not new to flashing, or modding my phone at all. I've done all the wiping and permission fixing. Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to find a kernel that will keep my bluetooth connected to my car when playing music. That's a whole other problem I've been having someone suggested trying a new kernel.
Have you given the stock md5 kernel a shot? I've got one that'll remove anything added by other custom ones and has the correct stock modules if you want to give it a shot.
I'll post the link in a few. @TheLastSidekick has a kernel thread in the General section too if you want to look there.

Hey guys,
I rooted my epic 4g the other day with the Zedomax kernel. I am having a bunch of radio issues and battery problems as well with this kernel.
I would like to go back to my oem/factory kernel and unroot just for the mean time as bugs get worked out. Does anyone know where I can get the factory kernel that comes from sprint and to restore it completely?
When I went to settings>about phone>Kernel it said -
2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435735
Anyway to get that back?
Thanks!
DT
There is no where to get the stock kernel as of now

Funny, as I wrote my last comment, I followed the steps in this thread and it seems to have fixed the issues.

I was running a custom 4.1.1 rom (sprint port) and then flashed the stock rom via odin. Since then my phone cannot detect any GPS satellites (I tried different apps). I even re-flashed the custom rom but it still isn't working. I read somewhere that this could be because of a different kernel.
Can someone held me please?
The Kernel under settings is as follows:
3.0.31-178444
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPTT Sun Sep 16 13:57:17 KST
2012
Is this the correct one? If not, how do I rectify this?
Remember, god helps those who help the NOOBS.
Someone mentioned usi g triangle away fixed it for them. I think it was a thread posted in General.

I can't post to the thread because I haven't posted enough on XDA to post in developer threads yet apparently. Needless to say the latest PAC MAN release, wifi is broken.
There is one person who asks "Why is wifi still broken?" but it seems to have been glanced over. I have fully wiped and installed, and Wifi is in a permanent state of starting, scanning, turning off, turning back on, scanning, turning off, turning back on, scanning, ... in an infinite loop. It did this when I upgraded from 20.0, and did it after I did a full wipe as well.
I'm trying to find a 4.2.x rom that has preferably all the hardware working (wifi, camera, and bluetooth being the most important short of the phone functionality) that doesn't suffer from the random lockscreen reboot. If someone has a suggestion on which PrimoC Rom fits that bill please let me know.
I apologize for not posting this in the appropriate place, but I'm not allowed to post it in an the appropriate place until I post more.
... It would be nice if someone could mention this to inyourface to let him know, since you know, I can't.

it's 4.2 and camera (3MP) works but I'm not sure about bluetooth although I doubt it cuz I haven't even found a 4.1 rom that it works with I actually prefer Provision http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098618 though or even Pacman 19.3... be sure whatever rom you use to flash the boot.img that it says to flash and if you need a kernel that is a zip file flash that too (it will have the modules for wifi)

I thought all CDMA development was in the CDMA development forum, I didn't know PrimoC builds were in the "Original Android Development" that makes things a little more confusing.

Sorry 'bout that. Bluetooth works to an extent. Audio from calls isn't being routed correctly so you don't hear anything through a Bluetooth headset when someone calls you and visa versa.

Bluetooth works in 19.3. As for the kernel, it's the 'boot.img' thats in the zip file. It's usually in the .zip with the ROM

Hello everyone, first off I want to say I have flashed many different phones with CM over the past few years. I have been a fan of android phones since Day 1. I got a G1 the day they came out and was pretty active in the scene up about about 2 years ago. I had a G2 for awhile as well, loved it... had CM on it as well. Anyway, the problem at hand is this Galaxy S III.
I have flashed many phones for friends and co-workers and whomever asks. I have NEVER had such a problem with flashing a phone as this one.
Apparently its a regionally special model (SGH-T999L).
I have downloaded CWM 6.0.3.1 after rooting with motochopper (easiest root experience ever), then I attempted to flash to CM10.1.2. The phone is currently on 4.1.2. When I attempt to flash from CWM, it gives the assert failed error. I have seen a few other threads about this but they were regarding other carriers (AT&T) and honestly I have tried a million and one things in attempt to get this to flash, I have seriously spent over 8 hours today trying to get this flashed to CM10.1.2 and even 10.1, I even tried using the touch version of CWM and tried TWRP to see if I'd get a different result... But no.. same result.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have tried everything I can think of on all three platforms... Win7, MacOSX 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10 and 12.... cannot get it to flash to CM no matter what. I am almost positive it is something I am overlooking. If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, I will gladly send you a present via fedex.
Thanks in advance.
Senor Y.

Basically in some roms, particularly cm and aosp roms they check the bootloader to make sure its up to date. The T999L is just so new that many devs have not yet added its bootloader to the updater-script. Read the info I have in the thread I linked and if you need help editing the script, let me know.
Ill try to fix and upload the rom shortly, just to make it easy for everyone.

Thanks again man, I followed your instructions and removed the assert lines... flashed with 10.1.2 -- then flashed the gapps back on and in business on the first try.
I am going to pass the link along to #Cyanogenmod on freenode because there wasn't anyone on there who could help me last night.

Doc,
One last question, is there a baseband update I need to apply for CM10.1.2 / 4.2.2 ? -- I got the gapps installed and there doesn't appear to be problems yet, but the know-it-alls in #cyanogenmod seem to think I need to install a baseband update but they cannot provide me with a link... so I was wondering what your take on that is.
Thanks again,

It's bad advice. Ignore it.
Very bad advice! !!
Baseband is your modem which should have nothing to do with your rom. They probably meant bootloader. But the T999L only has one version of firmware available right now, so it wouldn't be possible anyway. Theyd probably tell you to use MD5, but that would brick your phone!
Glad you asked!

The data connection seems to be spotty at times, and so does the wifi. Would someone kindly suggest a modem for this phone and build? Maybe even a better kernal?
I haven't have much luck narrowing any options down.
Attaching a screengrab of the phone's info.

I'd go with mk6 or ne5. Give me a sec I'll try to link you to the modem thread. Also a new kernel wouldn't hurt.
also I'm not saying that kernel isn't good enough, I just mean experiment & find one that's best for you.

For modem or kernel?
For modem, lollipop hasn't been officially released for i317 yet so there's no lollipop modem, per se. However, the latest is NE5 and it works just fine.
For kernel, I haven't run an aosp/cm rom on my note 2 in ages, but surely agni, devil, perseus, shift, sabre... etc one of those guys surely supports lollipop. Touchwiz the latest you'll find is 4.4.4 so the kernels will be the same. Good luck with it & I'm out of thanks for the day but I'll give you one in return tomorrow.
EDITED to add: OS version shouldn't make a huge difference for your modem, but with a kernel it is important to have the latest if you're on the latest. Many reasons why... And I just wouldn't risk running an older kernel with a newer rom.
