[Q] Stuck in HTC boot screen after patching rmk40 superuser - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Incredible 2 won't go past the htc boot screen that is all white. Does it take a while to install or is there a problem. I cleared cache and dalvik cache. then a second time i even factory reset it. I don't know what to do. Please help.

May need a little more info. I'm assuming you have cwm since you cleared caches. If so, just clear caches ad data again, and flash your custom rom of choice from sd card. Yes, it takes a little while.

Try to pull the battery.
If not just flash a new stock ROM.

Just go into recovery and flash a custom rom it will be rooted for you. The rmk patch did the same to me so i loaded a rom om the sd booted into recovery from hboot and flashed a rom

The problem was that i used rmk40 zip file and it had the froyo firmware instead of the gingerbread firmware. I flashed the gingerbread firmware and it fixed it. Thanks though guys.

What ROM were you on before you flashed Salvage Mod? If it was a sense rom, you need to perform a full wipe (data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, boot, system) prior to flashing the new rom. When you said you cleared 'all cache', do you also mean you cleared dalvik cache as well? What recovery are you currently using? I'm on salvage 1.2.1 right now, and I've never had a problem booting it. When you say it won't boot, what does it do? Does it boot loop, or does it hang at the splash screen (white htc evo 4g screen)? The more info the better. I'd basically suggest doing a full wipe though, and try again.

I was on stock rooted before this. I did clear dalvik cache but I need to do a factory reset like you said. Thanks.
I tried that and it's still doing the same thing. It just sits at a lit up black screen. Any other suggestions?

Can you boot into the bootloader? Power off your device. Simultaneously press the DOWN volume button and the power button until your device starts. After a short pause, a few lines of text should scroll across the screen and then you will see a few options. One of the options will be recovery. Anyway, at the top of the screen, you should see either S-ON or S-OFF. Hopefully, it displays S-OFF. Anyway, select recovery from the set of options and then, as k2buckley has instructed, go to the wipe menu and wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself. When you're done, do not reboot. Go to the flash menu and flash the rom you want to flash. Do not flash the gapps zip yet. Reboot after flashing the rom. I want to make sure you're able to boot into the homescreen. If you're successful, reboot into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik and then flash the gapps.zip. afterwards, reboot. When you're all setup, go back I to recovery and make a nandroid backup.

also, make sure you got the full ROM, not just the patch for going from 1.2 to 1.2.1. I did that
I was having similar issues, mine went into a boot loop about twice before getting hung up at the initial setup with FCs. I was coming from CM7 Nightly 41 that was acting weird with FC's, I always double wipe cache/dalvik/factory reset. I thought that I might have had a bad download so I re-downloaded, wiped and flashed. I couldn't get past the initial setup so I went back to Ultimate Droid and have been running that for the last 4 days or so with out any major problems except for the Facebook update dicking things up and one random reboot that I had today... I really want to give Salvagemod a shot though since it's Evo-centric.
still not working for me
hey guys... i been trying to boot into salvage mod for the past 2 days... i get it to install just fine i do get the salvage screen up too...
then when the rom is supposed to be loaded up i get the Android dude with emergency call and a crash u keep pressing ok then it goes away and comes back right away... i just wiped everything again and reflashed it and now i am stuck with salvage screen re looping..
any help would be appreciated
thanks
The OP's problem was solved in a second thread by following the below instructions:
Download a fresh copy of both amon RA v2.3 (PC36IMG.zip) and Salvage-Mod 1.2.1 and place both on the root of your SD card. Make sure there is no other file named PC36IMG.zip. on the root of your card. If there is, put that particular file in a folder. Now shutdown your device. Boot into the bootloader screen. The bootloader will automatically detect the PC36IMG.zip file and prompt you to install. Follow the prompts to install. Installation should take less than 10 seconds. Afterwards, reboot into your new recovery. Go to the wipe menu and wipe everything except the SD card. Do not reboot. Go to the flash menu and flash Salvage-Mod. This *should* work.

Glad you got him going Doug. I had asked him to use RA in a PM, and he responded that he liked clockwork and rom manager better, and wouldn't use RA, lol. I'm glad you convinced him otherwise.

[Q] absolutely cannot flash custom rom

I have been searching like crazy through every thread on every forum and cannot find anyone with a similar problem. I had CM7 running fine then everything started force closing. I wiped data/cache and dalvik cache and reinstalled CM7 and now cannot get past the Splash screen. I went into HBoot and flashed the stock RUU went back to stock re-rooted tried everything again and cannot get past the splash screen again. Tried to flash a stock PB31IMG with s-off already and that booted fine. Flashed clockwork through a PB31IMG and got to recovery tried to wipe and install and same results. Did everything I just did back to stock then flashed the alternate recovery same issue. Anyone have any idea why I cannot get a custom rom going?

Did you try fixing permissions? I hear doing that can help fix constant fc's. You can do it either through ROM Manager or in recovery. The only way I know how to do it in recovery is in Clockworkmod, as I have not tried out amon_ra. Advanced > Fix Permissions.

Have you tried flashing peanut and formatting internel storage, wiping sd card and reformatting to fat32? What ever you do, never restore data, it will cause issues.

Hey guys thanks for the response, I was about to give up and stay on stock sense and for the hell of it tried root wipe and install again and it worked. No clue what was causing me issues so I am probably going to stay on my current setup for now haha

Man, I'm stuck in a boot loop.

Ok, So I wanted to change my ROM and I thought I did it right, but obviously that was not the case lol.
Pretty much I flashed the clockwork recovery, had it set to wipe the two things you want to wipe and then once it came back I installed zip from sd card, however, when I thought I was done and restarted my phone it just continuously loops back and forth back and forth.
I know there's a way to fix it since I have a micro sd reader, but how? I've got something REAL important to do tomorrow and not having my phone will be a huge mess.

I was on the stock rom and I was trying use the update-cm-7.0.3-vision-signed
I used Clockwork Recovery to wipe and it already had two options checked to wipe, Pavlik cache and wipe data or whatever it says... Then I flashed into clockwork recovery and I went to install from ZIP, I went and found the rom file on my sd card and pressed install, it took a few moments and was done. I also added the googlepack using the same method right after. Then when I thought I was finished I rebooted my device and its been stuck in a loop ever since.
Appreciate you trying to help, I guess I figured it out with a good ole fashioned guess hahaa.
I went and wiped my phone and data to factory, wiped the Pavlic (which I think I'm saying wrong lol) and then I installed the ROM again and it worked this time.

I would recommend flashing the superwipe from this thread. there are 3 downloads, Try the standard superwipe first. and use superwipe+ if you have GPS problems.
Super wipe automaticly wipes system, data and cache partitions. Flash the ZIP in recovery as you would flash a ROM.
And it is recommended not to use ROM manager for flashing and to always to it manually in CWM.
So download superwipe, flash superwipe, flash ROM, flash GAPPS and reboot.
I would also recommend flashing cm 7.1 because its an outrageously HUGE upgrade over the one you just flashed.

<PLEASE HELP> I Can't install any ROM on my Wildfire

Hi, thanks for reading..
I have a htc wildfire phone.
I S-Off-ed it with revolutionary, and also flashed Clockwork 3.0.0.6 on it.
Than I wiped cache (darvik also) and system , and tried to install cym 7 from [install zip from sd card]
as progress goes through, phone freezes or restarts and only green HTC logo appears on the screen, without sound and message (quietly brilliant).
It happens on all rom-s i've tried, nightly ones and cym 6.0 also.
Could you please help me to fix my phone?
Did you do a full wipe?
If you just wipe the cache partitions, the ROM will bootloop.

Thanks guys for replay.
I wiped data, dalvik cache and cache.
Than reinstalled zip (cym 6.0), the progress bar went nearly complete, than it freezed, rebooted and booted into clockwork directly.
than i clicked on [reboot system now], it rebooted and is freezed on HTC green logo without animation and sound.
Can i do anything else? or can I install htc sense rom again? (note that I had a backup and when I click a restore, it does restore but still freezes in middle process and no effect is given on phone)
Most Sense ROMs will require a 2.5 recovery. (Use the .zip I attached, it'll give you a temporary recovery once you flash it).
I know that Rempuzzle doesn't require 2.5 recovery tho. Have you tried re-installing the CM7 .zip? or re-downloading and re-installing?
Yesterday, I had exactly the same problem like you. The problem was something with the recovery system. I flashed it again and since then, it works.
ok guys,
I've updated clockwork with update.zip, it appeared blue clockwork 2.5, I wiped everything and started installation over. no ROMs worked (cym 7, cym 6, and latest nightly cyms, HCDR.ROM also).
I think downgrading on 2.5 is kind of reflash too. note that when I reboot recovery it is still orange 3.0.0.6 then until I update it again with update1.zip
Still no result, please help if you have any more ideas.
Flash a complete new recovery, for example with the PC49IMG.zip method..
Clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0 has the blue text.
Clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.7 which you need to flash older roms has green text.
The Orange one is clockwork 3.x.x.x which atm is your main recovery installed in the phone, the update zip gives a temporary recovery which will disappear after rebooting, I'm not quite sure where your going wrong but just try this if you have a cm7 Rom on your SD card.
Power off the phone and then boot into recovery, volume down and power to get hboot and then select recovery, (sorry for the noob instructions, I just want to make sure your doing it correctly) when the Orange clockwork loads up first select wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache, after that scroll down to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache from in that menu, then go back and choose install from zip/choose zip find your cm7 Rom and select it after its done its thing reboot from main menu.
Cm7 should install fine from clockwork 3.x+ and then if you want to install an older rom like cm6 open Rom manager flash clockwork 2.5.0.7 (also temporary) and reboot into it then do the same wipes and flash cm6.

guys, I did PC49IMG.zip method too. I mean I wrote this file on sd card and than in fastreboot i clicked volume up (update). it has done everything.
I do cym7 installation exactly with your (nooby) instruction. thing is that when installation process goes, it is not finnishing, its freezing or rebooting phone and then not booting exept green HTC logo.
I think this is unique case in this forum. so no more ideas I guess.

Cordrioid ROM V4

I successfully loaded the latest Cordroid ROM V4 on HTC One X as far as install goes. However on reboot I get the Sense ring screen which am unable to use before phone reboots.
In a constant boot loop.
Thankfully took a Rom backup prior to install that got me out of trouble.
Anyone else managed to get this to work or is there an error in the Rom or the way I am installing?
Not had issues with previous Roms from Coredroid….
Probably something wrong with your install. Did you wipe dalvik cache, etc.?
Reflash new boot.img.
