Just used my upgrade, got the SGS2 Epic 4G Touch, and wanted to give my wife my Evo which is running the latest nightly of CM7. I had completely wiped the phone, flashed CM7 etc..., signed her on with her Google info and downloaded all her apps and so forth so she could play with it and see if she wanted to use it. After one day, she said she did want to switch over to the Evo (from a Sprint Optimus S). So at this point it was functional with wifi, but I needed to call Sprint and actually switch the phone number and activate it.
I called Sprint....
They went thru whatever they do on their end, we did a test call out from it (which oddly went to a "Welcome to Verizon Wireless" message, and I thought I was good.
So, after getting off the phone I tried to make a call to the Evo and the Evo didn't ring, and it went to her voicemail greeting. I tried to call out from the Evo, and it said the same Verizon message, but the rest of the message I didn't stay on the line to hear from the first time was that the account couldn't be validated.
So I called Sprint back, and long story short ( I know, too late), the Evo is still tied to my old number and didn't update. Since I have CM7 on there, trying to use the dial pad programming wouldn't work.
The customer service person, who even though I explained that I had a custom rom on the phone did seem to try to help, said that if I did a factory reset, it may come up and switch over, or if I loaded the original HTC Sense software back, that may take care of it.
So, just looking for advice on what would be my best next move.
Thanks for any assistance, John
Download and install something like a rooted stock sense rom.
Çall sprint back and do the process all over. Once you have confirmed everything is okay then switch back your cm7 rom.
You can't activate with aosp use a stock sense rom
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Thanks very much guys,
Any chance I could get a recommendation link for the correct type of rom?
I also just did a nandroid so I can get back to where I was...
One link to any rom that would be suitable for this?
Suggestions?
Team Nocturnal's Stock here
I would suggest a clean install of a new ROM after activating, not using any Nandroids to make sure everything works after activation
Try SOS. Its in dev

Thanks very much everyone! After work this evening, I used Nocturnals rom, activated with Sprint, and fresh install of CM7. The wife is a happy camper. I appreciate the help.

Hey everyone.
Alright, so here's the story. I was playing a game and my phone reboots (I assume overheating. It's been doing it a lot lately). It's late so while I'm rebooting, I plug it into the charger. Over the next half hour, my phone continues to boot loop, and after I discovered it was really hot, like 10 min in I unplugged it and it continued to boot loop. So I took out the battery and waiting for morning. When I woke up and turned it back on, it was done boot looping, but it said I had to activate my phone. But my phone is already activated.
I had CM6.1.2 on it and decided to flash a sense rom (fresh) to try to fix it. Still nothing. And if I try to activate it, (I guess again) it continually fails.
Before you ask, yes we payed the Sprint bill. My mom's Evo is still working fine.
Someone please tell me I'm just being a noob, I don't want to have to go to Sprint.
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance.
call sprint for the activation code, make sure the rom your on at that time supports epst, ie type ##775# and if a box pops up your good to go
just let sprint know your phone is asking for it and they won't have a problem giving you the code
Unroot and exchange it.

I tried the code ##775# or ##778# on fresh. No box came up.
What rom, should I try?
And for the code, do I can a sprint store, or customer service?
Please don't say customer service.
if you physically take it somewhere you need to return it to stock, if you call customer service then flash myns rls 5 I know it works on that one
Just now installing myn's rom. Hope it works. I really don't want to go to a sprint store. I wouldn't know what to say.
What do you think happened? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
This is quite annoying.\
Thanks
happened to me on my hero, when you talk to somebody just play dumb, be very non specific, "it turned itself on and off a bunch now it says this" will work fine
I'm having trouble getting myn's RLS4 to boot. I didn't choose 5 cause I didn't want to update radios.
So I just updated radios and hoping it works this time.
Any other suggestions?
I ran rls5 without updating just fine
Ive search through numerous evo threads but found no answers. Ive been rooted for about a month and about 2 days ago I stopped being able to receive calls and texts, but I am able to connect to my google account and receive mail on wifi and 4g and I am able to make calls and send texts out on the network. Was using Calkulin's 1.8 rom when this happened.
I have an 003 evo, and I out the sprint lovers rom back on just to make sure it wasnt the rom,,still behaving the same.
I have updated PRL +Profile, flashed and reflashed a couple different roms.
Any ideas?
##3282# ,edit mode. Once your in there you have to find data. I am not on a sense rom and dont remember exactly where it is. Under advanced maybe..just look around. Once your in data hit menu, restore.
You have to know your msl to do this so get msl reader from the market first and write it down.
This also assumes your still on a sense rom.
Not positive itll work but its with a shot!

The above method can still work, if you don't have one, you should flash a sense rom and make a backup of it just for these types of instances.
I literally *just* had this problem. It happened after I installed CM7, with exactly the problems you had. I flashed dozens of ROMs, wiped, radios, re-wiped, etc.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950922
I had to take it to a Sprint store to get it fixed. They said all they did was a hard reset -- but when I got my phone back, I noticed the HBOOT was back at 0.97 and the radios were out of date, on an August 2010 version.
I have no idea what they did to fix this. I hope someone here can expand on this, I would really like to know how I could go about fixing this on my own in case it happens again. Try giving them a call from a landline to see if they can get it fixed.
If you go the customer service route, make sure you un-root before you do anything (follow the 2-step guide). I rooted right after I got my phone back with no problems.
Specs: been rooted for awhile. Currently running end of days rom by magnus. Can't think of anything else thats relevent.
Problem : my phone no longer will call anybody. It says everytime '' cannot make this call at this time, try again later'' doesn't matter who I call it won't go through. It started today as far as I can tell randomly. I have great service and everything else works just fine including 4g and gps.
I tried: nandroid restore of both a sense rom and destroyer (aosp) and also did a factory wipe and re installed my current rom. I also went through the settings to see if I did something dumb. I didn't see anything.
Any ideas would be great, I'm lost without my phone.
I was having trouble receiving calls last night, I think Sprint is working on their network again. Try updating your profile and prl through settings and that may help.

Updated but no difference. I also updated the radio as well, just for the hell of it. No luck
I was having issues with google voice 2 days before so I deleted the account. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it won't let me make a new account now.
this mite sound dumb but did u pay ur bill?
unless you're having problems on every rom, i'd say look into the prl. i flashed a rom 3 weeks ago that changed the meid on a evo, dont ask me how, but its true. so you might wanna check that also if its been repaired
Lol, yes. Bill has never been late. And I up dated prl and have nandroided back to two different roms. No luck.
I'm having the same problem last outgoing call I was able to make was at 2am. Every call today says call lost. I'm running CM's latest nightly.
Do you have the google voice integration enabled by chance? My wife's EVO without the integration enabled works fine, mine with it enabled I get that unable to place your call at this time message all the time. I spoke with Sprint about it and they were no help. I think it's a google problem. That means good luck getting any support. Google is great until you need support for something.

I fixed mine by flashing a stock rooted rom made a outgoing call worked fine. Then flashed back to CM7 stable and everything is working again.
Before I get n00b bashed, I did "Search this thread" for the answer... (and other forums) Maybe I am just too n00b? Anyway, here goes.
Given kudos on this ROM already (Syndicate Rom: Frozen...anything is better than stock Froyo, but this is just AMAZING). But I was having some troubles with receiving incoming calls. Caller always got "All circuits busy" Or "cannot complete call as dialed".
Soooo, I wiped and reflashed. Tried to make a call (before restoring titanium backups) it worked, but my girl was still having troubles calling me...
So I restored most of my titanium backup (stuff that mattered?) and when trying to call out, I get "com.android.phone stopped working" and had to forcibly close it. So, I specifically restored phone 1.0 and contacts and all that from my titanium Backup, and still got the same issue. I am currently backing up stuff to my computer off the phone, going to format the card and do a fresh flash and see if that helps.
Thing to note, my account IS linked with Google Voice. Could that be an issue? And if not, is anyone else having this issue? Seriously the ONLY problem I am having with this rom. Thanks, guys!
Edit. Wipe and reflash did not help, however the phone is running MUCH better! Still not getting phone calls, though. Data works, MMS, etc, spotty 3G acceptance, though. Starting to get a bit aggravating. ANY help would be GRAND.
*sigh* think I got it. Flashed a different modem (EC03?) and it did not work, then flashed BACK to EC05 (AFTER the fresh flash) and it seems to have rectified the issue. HUGE thanks to QBKING77 (if that is his name on here) for the AWESOME video tuts and great linking to the site. I will update if call status changes. But I would still be interested in knowing if anyone else was having the same issues?
Sorry no one ever got to you for help. The Q&A section doesn't exactly have dedicatedhelpers. =/
I'll be trying to help this section more. So please do update if it comes again.

No worries. My girl and I gave it another go this morning, and all went well. Also received all my calld last night with no issue. Definitely made my girl a happy camper. Lol. Now I just have to calibrate my battery when I get to work, and all will be golden!

the only thing I could think of is did you "freeze" any apps in titanium LOL yes I froze the wrong thing once and got the same error's I think it was the voice mail stuff seeing i went to gvoice didn't think I needed it but I did.
Nope. All apps were left unfrozen, just because I am too n00b for that chit, lol.
However, I flashed the EC05, and all incoming calls (90%) seem to be coming to me. Odd part is, it SHOULD be going to my voicemail if it cannot be dialed. I am thinkin Sprint is to blame, and I need to have it out with them.
*sigh*
Oh well, everything else is tits... Just waiting EAGERLY for 1.2... Chompin at the bit and all that!
Might get bored tonight and flash back to stock... see if I have the same problem.
Question. Let's say I want to "image" my phone the way it is right now (kinda like Norton Ghost used to do?) Flash back to stock, yadda yadda... Is there a way to RESTORE my phone as is (every byte) back with clockwork? Or is that what Nandroid does? Because if I flash back to Stock, play for a bit (see if it is sprint's fault) and want to flash back, I will have to reconvert back to EXT4... using clockwork 3.0, should I just use the .zip (.img?) that nandroid creates instead of the base ROM?
If any of that makes sense, kudos will be given for a clear answer, lol
just loaded Emerald Envy 2.0....
Absolutely love the ROM, but I can no longer receive calls. I've tried the wipe (x3), re-downloaded the ROM, no joy. no combination that I can think of. Have tried all the latest modems (EC05/EF02), no joy.
I did notice that the phone log does log that a call was received, but it never rings or brings up the phone application.
I also tried flashing the Genocide 1.1 kernal. no joy.
I'm about to go back to my Midnight ROM that I Nandroid'd earlier today before I started down this road. Really hope I don't have to, i'm hooked on this ROM!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My errors seem to be different than yours. Mine would not show up in my call log at all, nor would the calls go to voicemail. Are your callers able to leave messages?
Mine turned out to be a sprint/phone issue. Their networks have been all kinds of crappy in my area since january. Sucks, but all I could do was call, complain, and get credits.
My new epic seems to be working fine, and sprint seems to have fixed their issues in my area. I was running 1.2 up until last night with no issues callin/receiving. I only updated to the latest GB leak because it is hella stable and netflix works. Just seems to have some 3d issues. But I do not game much on here.
Keep troubleshooting, and give 1.2 a whirl. While your problem is not ROM related, I am very confident your experience (and battery) will be much better.
Oh. And call Sprint. Complain and whine. You will get credit on your bill. Lol.
Sent from my Epic. Which is better than yours.
So everything was fine on my Evo (running one of decks roms with a ICS theme) until the screen went out friday night. Saturday I took it in and it was repaired in about 2 hours (very impressed). In between I activated an old back up phone to get me by. When I picked up my Evo the tech had reactivated it and it was ready to go. But when I got to work I had no data. No internet service at all. Calls and Texts were fine, but nothing else. I made sure mobile data was checked, (couldn't update PRL cause of the AOSP rom), but I did a battery pull, rebooted, then I decided to nandroid back to a previous sense rom. Once I booted up still nothing. after about 2 hours all of a sudden I was getting emails, and voxer messages....I had data back!!! But when I tried 4G nothing happened (stays on obtaining IP). Hoping a newer stock based rom would help I flashed the new swag ON rom. Loving the rom...everything is great, but still no 4g. My last resort is to unroot and go back to sprint. I downloaded the wimaxx checker and it says I have my RSA keys so I know those are there. I'm sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I thought being as detailed as possible would help. Any suggestions would be great. The members here have helped me through lots of trouble shooting in the past.
Should also be noted that I attempted PRL update again with no luck, and I live in San Antonio which is a solid 4g area for me.
Good thinking with Wimax Checker - That's usually the first line of defense.
It sounds like because you cannot update PRL or Data Profile that there may have been an issue in the reactivation by the tech at the Sprint store. With that said, I know I'm in the Philadelphia region with good 4G but occasionally there will be a day or so of PRL/Profile update "outages" where I cannot update. I usually will verify with a family member's phone (also on Sprint). Perhaps try having someone you know in the area with Sprint and an android phone try a profile and/or PRL update to make sure it's not just the system being unresponsive.
Ok I will try that tonight and reply back. I had my g/f's evo running decks rom try her 4g and it worked perfectly so I know its my phone. I'll see if she can update. Either way is there some sort of combo pack I can flash for profile and prl??? I'm not too sure how that would work.
Here is the latest Radios-Wimax-PRI-NV Combo pack Click HERE
Ok I flashed an older Wimaxx since the one I had was up to date(did a check in TE). Once flashed and booted up still no 4g. Is it possible that this could be a hardware issue since everything else works? Like the actual antenna is busted? Just hard for me to think that since it was working fine before my screen went out. I always have 4g service at home and work. And my g/f's is working fine she has the evo and she has sprint.
