Not sure about the notifier, but u can always use Google voice with free transcription.

And once you get GV you will never be able to revert back unless you call the carrier and get them to reverse to your regular voicemail. I had to end up calling sprint and stay on the phone for 1/2 hour to get it straight.

Voicemail Notifier for you...
I don't know if you found voicemail notifier or not but I do have it. Let me know and I will put it in dropbox or whatever method helps you out. I am not a fan of Google Voice for vm and did like notifier as It's simple and works well with almost anything.

I would also like to have it so it would be great if you put it out on dropbox. thank you!

please i need the voicemail notifier please drop box me the link

Me too, please?

I lost the number that shows how many new voice mails I have on the home screen, but the Sprint voice mail still works.

voicemail notifier is off the market. So if you have it, that would be great!

Thank you so much for this! Not knowing when I had a voicemail was driving me insane, and Google Voice wouldn't work.

so this just tells us that we have a voice mail, but how do we make it download the voice mail to the phone?
I have htc evo 4g on boost mobile...

make sure your evo has correct vm number in settings, then Press 1....

How to switch back from Google to sprint voicemail

After installation of miui, I decided to try Google voice. Didn't like it much because....however since, I have flashed Sprint VM and trying to use that.
But how do i get my voice mail to go back to sprint?
I think they are routing to Google now because I'm getting emails from google saying I have a new voice mail. I need it to go back to sprint voice mail.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Might try menu-settings-call, make sure vm is set to your carrier and clear google as default
I did. I have since deleted Google voice and its set to my carrier but people are still getting Google voicemail when they call.
Any ideas. I hoping I don't have to flash to a sense rom to restore it.

What happens when u call vm from your cell, do you get sprint. And if so did you go through the motions of setting it up again
Dial *730 to disable forwarding...
thank you
thank you! that worked! I had removed Google voice because anytime someone called me they could not leave a voice mail. It would say, "your call cannot be placed at this time..." or something like that. Whew! Thanks again!

Can anyone get the Sprint Visual Voicemail to work? I can install the app, but it wont download the voicemails. Also it keeps saying the email will download when there's data (internet) available. Has anyone been able to get it to work?

Is that because vvm is not compatible with android 4.0? And sprint has no phones that are 4.0

voicemail isn't 'missing' it isn't a feature of AOSP. Just call your own number or use youmail or voice.

This is what I did. Change number 1 to my phone number so I can hold 1 and it calls my vm. To do this goto keypad press menu button, settings, vm settengs and then vm number.
I use Go Messaging for txt and when I get a vm it sends me a txt to notify me of vm.
Ive been using Phonefusion Visual Voicemail from the market and it works great i get emails when i get missed calls that just hang up and i get dictation visual voicemails within the app i am very pleased with it

Let me know if you figure this one out. I use Gvoice for my business number so can't join it with my Sprint number. Also Gvoice will only let you forward to your cell number once but it can be used as a second line meaning your second Gvoice account has to forward to a different number as primary and then your cell as secondary number.

This is actually very easy. I have the same setup. I have a Google Voice number for my business so when I wanted to use Google Voice for voicemail I set up a new account with the same google account I use on my phone. Here is the Important part! Do not use the google voice android app! In your desktop web browser setup google voice to send voicemail messages via email. I send them to my Gmail account. They come in to Gmail on my phone as transcribed emails with a button to play the actual recording if the transcription is no good. It is the best setup actually. it requires no extra software or SMS issues and it just works.
Hey this could work.
Make a nandroid backup of cm9
Go back to stock
Backup your VM with tb.
Restore your backup of cm9
Restore your backup of VM with tb.
Enjoy!!!

GN on T-mobile

For some reason when I loaded my sim it keeps telling me I have a voice mail even though my account is empty. I tried installing google voice since thats my mail voice mail account and the icon is still there.
Anyone experience this? Anyone find a way to get rid of it?
Is this your first time starting? They send you a voicemail notification so that you'll dial your T-Mobile voicemail and set it up. Until you set it up it won't go away.
Call your number and leave yourself a message. Then delete that voicemail. It should go away.

when i had this issue, i tried this months ago and worked fine.
to make sure you understand.
make sure you DO NOT set up google voice for your voice mail yet.
make sure you still have tmobile voice mail set as default.
call yourself from home phone/ girls phone/ bf's phone ect..
dial tmo's voice mail number. delete voice mail.
BOOM Shakalaka!!!
you're set.
I'm having a similar issue as the OP. I just got my sim card swapped out by T-Mobile, and now I have a new voicemail notification that I can't get rid of.
I actually have my voicemail completely disabled, so I have no way of leaving myself a message or anything (I have it setup this way so my carrier's voicemail doesn't pickup any of my voicemails).
Any recommendations on how to get rid of this? It has been driving me crazy.
---------- Post added at 08:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:49 PM ----------
I just tried online chat, but they weren't really any help:
Code:
Me: I just traded in my sim card for a new one at the local store, and put the new sim card into my phone. My phone now shows a new voicemail notification that I am unable to get rid of. I have voicemail completely disabled on my plan, so I know that I have no new messages. This notification is irritating, and I would like to get rid of it.
%Noel M: Welcome to T-Mobile live Chat. I’m Noel and I'll be glad to help you, for your reference my ID number is 853274.
%Noel M: Would this be for prepaid account?
Me: correct
%Noel M: Let me find ways to remove that notification off the phone, one moment please.
Me: Thank you
%Noel M: You're welcome.
%Noel M: I'm still on it, one more minute please.
%Noel M: Have you restarted the phone and checked if the voicemail icon is still on the phone? Cna you tell me the make and model of the phone?
Me: Yeah, I have tried restarting the phone, taking the sim card out, and putting it back in, etc.
Me: It's a Galaxy Nexus.
Me: I don't think the issue is related to the phone, as it started as soon as I turned on the phone with the new sim card.
%Noel M: Did the phone came from T-Mobile or from a 3rd paty reseller?
Me: 3rd party reseller - directly from Google.
%Noel M: As a courtesy for non T-Mobile phones, we can attempt to troubleshoot internet, picture message, or network issues but please be aware that we cannot guarantee the functionality.
Me: ok. Thanks.
Me: It has something to do with them switching the sim card - with the old sim card, I had zero issues, and as soon as I put the new one in the issue showed up.
%Noel M: Can you open the notification? Do we have options about it for example is by deleting it?
Me: The notification says: "New voicemail Dial +1-805-637-7243".
Me: And when I click on it it places a call to that number (the TMobile voicemail system).
Me: But I can't actually do anything once I dial the number since I do not have a voicemail account setup.
%Noel M: Let me check if there are documents about this, if not I'll let you know once I'm done.
%Noel M: Please try this steps:
Call your number and leave a voicemail
Once you recieve the notification, access your voicemail
Listen to the entire message and then press 7 to delete it
Press the * key to return to the main menu
Hang up and check for the icon
If it is still there, powercycle your phone
Me: I can't leave myself a voicemail because my voicemail is completely disabled. When I call my phone number, it just keeps on ringing, and the voicemail never picks up.
%Noel M: I understand. Unfortunately, we have already exhausted all troubleshooting steps available here. Since we have limited info about your device, we need you to call the manufacturer of the phone to get assistance about this matter.
Me: okay.
%Noel M: Thank you for using T-Mobile live Chat. Have a great night!
Is there any way to completely disable voicemail notifications? I use Google Voice, so I do not care about carrier voicemail notifications at all.

Enable your voicemail and leave a message, then delete the message. You don't need to have your voicemail disabled for GV to work correctly. As long as you setup GV correctly, it will enable call forwarding so your carrier voicemail does not interfere.

But call forwarding uses my minutes. So each call that goes to voicemail costs me minutes, and I am on the 100 minutes a month plan, so I don't really have a bunch to share.

If you really want to go the prepaid route I would just use your google voice number (in other words don't give out your "real number") and disable the voice mail that comes with whatever prepaid service you use.

My voicemail is completely disabled for my account. The problem is that I swapped out my sim card at TMobile, and now my phone says it has a new voicemail with no way of clearing it, since my voicemail is completely disabled.

I hate to say it but you may have to call support. I initially had the voicemail symbol that I couldn't get rid of until I set up the voicemail. Then I had the voicemail disabled.

I did contact support... Not to be rude, but did you read this thread? I posted a log of my chat with support, and posted that I have my voicemail disabled.
I may end up reactivating my voicemail, setting up voicemail, and then disabling voicemail again. Unfortunately I think I have to talk to support for each of those steps.
I was told that using VM doesn't use minutes. I'm on the 100 minute plan too. Just a thought. That or you could try calling from SIPDroid but I never have gotten it to work with Google Voice.

Calling my voicemail box definitely uses my minutes. I'm not sure if calls forwarded use minutes, but I am pretty sure they do.
I have an HTC One S, but I think it should still be the same. Go to Settings>call> Clear voicemail notification.

Ah. My bad then. I'll give that a shot in a few days. Google is sending me a replacement device for other issues, so I am going to try and see if that fixes it for some reason first.
Update: I was having an issue with a voicemail notification displaying on my phone even though I had voicemail completely disabled on my phone after I got a new sim card. I solved the issue by re-enabling the voicemail for my account (via online chat), and then disabling it again a day later (again via online chat).
I'm just posting this in case someone else has the same issue as me. I didn't even have to leave myself a voicemail and delete it or anything like people above were saying (probably because my voicemail system was initially completely disabled).
Thanks everyone! Calling myself and leaving a voicemail fixed it!

Verizon visual voicemail

Can anyone tell me how to disable visual voicemail? I hate it. When i get a voicemail and i click on the notification it takes me to the stupid visual voicemail screen. I don't leave my data on all the time to save battery so it doesn't work anyway. I just want to be able to click on the notification and have it call my voicemail like every other phone I've ever had. God i hate Verizon. I'm really regretting signing a new contract with all the stupid crap they've done to this phone. I pray the boot loader gets unlocked. I want sure when i first got this phone whether i was going to root and rom it, but now I'll do it out of principle. My rooted s4 with hyper drive was awesome. Made me forget about how stupid Verizon is. *rant off

bumping your thread because I'm trying to figure out the same thing.
---------- Post added at 04:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:28 PM ----------
So this is what I did... First I went into my Verizon account where you can see all of your plan features. There is an option to block items. I went in and blocked premium visual voice mail. Then I went onto my phone and just accepted the prompt when I got the popup again. Apparently there are multiple versions of visual voice mail. The general vvm is simply a player that you can just hit play and hear your message. it is not visual in the sense that you can read the text... Poor choice or possibly deliberate choice by verizon on the names of the app to confuse people into signing up for the premium.
---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:52 PM ----------
Well, I could be wrong.... I can actually read the text. Not sure if I'm being charged the 2.99 or not. This is a nice reminder of why I have always rooted my phones.
update.... it seems that the only voicemail I can read text on is the one that I had saved before blocking the premium voicemail feature upgrade. When I get a new voicemail I only have the option to play the audio. So it seems to work as I described above!
I looked into it more today. There is an option to block features in your account in the verizon website. I can't do it until my next billing cycle because I changed my plan and the change is pending until the next cycle. Hopefully it will work. On the phone app you can't disable the visual voicemail, but it appears on the actual website you can block both the advanced and basic visual voicemail. 2 more weeks and I'll be able to find out.
It would not let me disable the basic visual voicemail. Something about it conflicting with the HD calling features. But what I did above does seem to work. It's really sneaky of Verizon. The way I understand it, had I not blocked the upgrade to premium on the website and accepted the terms in the app, I would have gotten a 30 day trial of the premium and then they would proceed with charging me 2.99 a month. They really need to rename the basic voicemail.
You can always just turn off advanced calling. But then HD voice, video chat and simultaneous voice and data won't work either.
Weird but I can't turn on advanced calling. When I make calls it drops to 1x. When I click the option, it doesn't do anything.
You have to first enable the feature by logging into Verizonwireless.com and adding the feature to your line.
This is driving me nuts. I can't get the little voice mail tape icon off the dialer. When I do hit it, it takes me to the visual voice mail app and then hangs saying "something went wrong, please contact customer service...error code 9009. I gave up and removed visual voicemail from my account as the OP did. Still have the button on my dialer, but it doesn't do anything...very annoying.
I noticed that too, I just assumed people weren't leaving messages as I never even got a notification of having voice mail. It wasn't until I opened it by accident one time did I see I had 20+ voicemails pending.
So can you make the default app the regular vanilla voice mail app? Can you uninstall the vzw voice mail app or freeze it using the debloater tool? I'm not yet rooted.
Default vanilla voice mail app?? You mean just dial in *86 and listen? Sure, just ignore the app.
Yeah, I know the standard voice mail works, but is there a way to completely remove vzw's voicemail icon in the dialer?
Can we turn off the voicemail icon in the notification area?
My LG G4 is rooted. Is maybe build.prop has to be modified?
Hating Verizon, why isn't any options for calls available on settings? Every android phone I've has has settings > calls. LG G4 did not have call or voicemail on settings. This is a phone for goodness sakes!!
You can simply disable the Visual VM app. Or hide notifications if you use it.
Not sure you can hide it from the dialer without screwing with the app.

Verizon Voicemail not working on 5X.

Anyone else having issues with their Verizon Voicemail on the 5X? Whenever I get a voicemail, instead of the regular notification that I have a new voicemail, I'm getting a text message with a bunch of gibberish, like this:
Code:
//VZWVVM:SYNC:ev=NM;id=4;c=1;t=v;s=xxxxxx;dt=27/10/2015 09:30 -0500;l=7;dev_t=5
Of course I just got off the phone with Verizon level 2 technical support and they told me that its my phone and it isn't compatible with the way their voicemails are handled in their system, which is just their way of passing blame to someone else.
Anyway, I'm still able to receive and check my voicemails, I just don't get the proper notifications anymore, just a text message with gibberish. I've tried the default google messenger and also Textra, and both do the same thing (thinking maybe it was my SMS app).
I also don't have visual voicemail, and told the verizon rep i just want basic voicemail, and they told me their free voicemail is some sort of basic visual voicemail now, which I think is part of the problem.
Any suggestions, or can anyone verify their voicemail notification icon is working correctly??

Same issue when setting up my sister's 5X. I had the issue initially when getting my Nexus 6 on Verizon very early. There will be an updated verizon visual voicemail app for nexus phones on Verizon in the future just as Motorola came out with one for the Nexus 6 IMO. There was one for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon as well back in the day. Until then, your best bet is to use Google voice to handle Voicemail. Works really well once you have it set up. If you dont use your google voice number for anything else; set it to do not disturb in the settings on your desktop so that it goes right to voicemail once your Verizon line is not picked up.....

No, you will not need the google voice app. You will need to access settings in google voice on your desktop. You can create a greeting through there and set the google voice line to do not disturb if you are not going to utilize it for normal calls. You will need to utilize hangouts to access the voice mails. They will come as texts and you can also listen to them through the hangouts app. Works really well in my opinion.

Ah yes I remember I played around with Hangouts and Voicemail back when the Hangouts Dialer was first released, I remember now that I had the option of listening to voicemails through Hangouts.
I think I have it all set up now, just have to find another phone to call my number and test it out lol.
Thanks again for the help!
Call Verizon and ask for disable visual voicemail. Ask for standard voicemail and block both standard and advanced visual voicemail. Then the old school voicemail indicator will work again.
This is the same issue CM users have had on Verizon with their visual voicemail.

I was told that would work as well when on the phone with Verizon.....
Just did a test on my 5x (Verizon) and it went into my VM and after I left a test message and hang up, it gave me the notification icon and sound. I never had visual VM before, so I don't know if that is the reason. Otherwise, working fine for me.

That is correct. However, did you make sure you have advanced calling activated on your account so that you can do data over voice..... Voice over LTE? Call in and activate it with Verizon if you dont. Sometimes with the activation of that , it automatically enters you into basic visual voicemail which can then be a problem.

This must be what happened with me, I activated advanced calling and I'm guessing that triggered basic visual voicemail which is the problem.
And the tech I talked to told me there was no way to remove basic free visual voicemail and go back to standard voicemail. Maybe she is wrong, I'm not sure, but either way I'm content with using Google Voice for now.

Call Verizon and ask for disable visual voicemail. Ask for standard voicemail and block both standard and advanced visual voicemail. Then the old school voicemail indicator will work again.

Yes, do this, for now anyway, until Visual Voicemail catches up with M. I still have Advanced Calling enabled, as well as HD calling, so VoLTE should work. With the Visual Voicemail removed (by VZW via chat in my case), I just get the old school simple voicemail notification on the status bar and dial *86 to retrieve.
Verizon Wireless Fixed my Issue
I had this issue since I got my Nexus 5X 2 months ago, and Verizon Wireless just fixed it over the phone and now it works fine. I don't use visual voicemail or anything fancy, although I used to use Google Voice up until a year ago.
He basically reinitialized the voicemail, so I had to set it up again from scratch, re-recording my outgoing message etc.
I should also mention my texts didn't work sometimes either... some MMS messages would just say "Downloading" and never download, and this happened often on my old Droid Maxx HD. The workaround was to disable wireless and wait for it to download over the data connection. Anyway this started happening on my new Nexus 5X also, but they reprovisioned the phone and fixed that also. :victory:
You can turn this off yourself from the My Verizon app or the website. No need to call Verizon. It's listed under "manage features".
