Hello guys, im the developer of Root Call Blocker, an advanced call and SMS blocking app for rooted phones.
The app's home is here at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051274
We have had multiple reports that blocking is not working sometimes on American phones, so we need some nice people to do some testing.
You can use the Groups function of the Lite version to do the testing - it gives you almost everything youd want from the app anyway.
Please post comments here, but also use the "Write to us" dialog in settings.
ill test it can u send me the apk to [email protected]
Whoa there, lets start by reading the op shall we?
Is this like Mr. Blocker? I use my phone for around 80% of ps3 gaming. and I like forwarding everything to voicemail and Google voice messaging does this have that option

Good question. I am curios as well. Also .... off topic.... how are you using your phone for ps3 gaming?
Sent from my Droid Incredible 2
Voicemail is a carrier, not phone-based service. If you use VM, then VM is what you get when you use the appropriate reject method.
But I'm curious why you would ask me instead of trying it yourself.

This is great!
Enjoy... and remember, an update is always just around the corner! If you have problems, use "Write to us" in Settings! Dont be shy!
Could you guys please test the following behavior for me:
1. How the app behaves when a blocked number attempts to connect during call waiting
2. How a blocked caller is handled when "Dont answer" is set as the reject method and you are currently on the phone and have not enabled blocked call vibrate notifications within the app itself
Dont forget to send logs with descriptions as well
Come on people, i really need some feedback on this!
Im not kidding people - testing is what its all about!
Me, and my girlfriend both use it. The only problem I've had, is it lets picture messages through. Other than that, it works great.
Sent from my DInc 2
It doesn't let them through. It has nothing to do with them at all!
Lol - this is a great bit of software, worth the money!
It blocks messages too? So I would say it does.
Sent from my DInc 2
It blocks sms and calls.
Anything to report?
Whats with 1.7.1? Any issues?

I switched to Friendcaster a while ago cause the Facebook app would always run in the background and on startup (yes yes, I understand that doesn't matter, but I still don't like it under Running apps even with all refresh/notifications off). Does this super revamp version still run on startup and in the background all the time?
Update is out. Installing now.

Menu Button is there now. Nothing else pops out (aside from the expected special advances). No sync for contacts as far as I can tell
Nope, no contact sync.

Yeah, in the settings theres a section for "other settings" i think that's where the contact sync usually appears for other devices but no go for galaxy nexus a little disappointing
No contact sync, which is a bit disappointing, but I've managed with Google Contact sync periodically. The new app is beautiful though, it's exactly what I had hoped a facebook app would be. I'm very happy with it!
I couldn't care less about contact sync. I don't need several hundred people in my address book when I really only regularly call a few people.
I suppose others carry on conversations with hundreds of people on a regular basis? I'm not one of them...it's just clutter, IMO.
Can you go now to the settings menu and configure notification?
I want to turn the notification off ... Possible?

ROFL that's epic.
I suggest getting and setting up "Llama", I LOVE that app! Switches your profiles based on whatever rules you set. IE It puts my phone in Quiet and enables WiFi when at the office M-F between certain times, goes into Car mode on the way to/from the office, back into quiet if i work at my night job based on if i'm in the area designated, then silent mode to sleep and launches Lightning Bug app to help wife and I sleep.
DesktopVizualizer is another sweet App to customize any icon
LauncherPro and Nova Launcher are GREAT
Dropbox and AwesomeDrop are other favorites to make life easier
Get some game emulators -N64oid, Genisoid, etc -can use PS3 and XBox360 controllers with USB OTG cable
Robin is a sweet "assistant" for car use with 100% hands free aside from swiping your hand above the phone to get "Robin's" attention
Ok after stumbling accross this post, I have managed to do absolutely nothing at all work related today. wifikill is awesome. After turning on my wifi and connecting to a network, wifikill showed 186 connections. Going down the line and dissabling one at a time is truly comical. You dont know who has what ip but looking around you see people going like wtf happened. Great find thanks

Anyone know how to use the native messaging app through google voice? I know there is an option within the app but it uses different phone numbers for the incoming so when you respond it will know you its going to.
What I am looking for is something that will full integrate, using my contacts phone numbers when they message me. Also when i start a thread from within the messaging app i want it to go through google voice. I found this app:

But is that the only way to make it happen? Thanks!

If you're rooted, I've found that this app works perfectly for me on the Nexus:

I just loaded the free one, cant tell the difference between the paid and the free. This app got a lot of bad reviews so i was skeptical... seems to be working ok. How is your battery life with it?
Also I am on an unlimited plan as well, i just want to start giving out my GV number and not my regular number anymore... Time for a change
I haven't had any trouble with battery life. There was an older version of the app that sucked down battery, but since it's been updated I haven't noticed any appreciable decrease.
The free version is apparently a trial version.

I've been harassed by numerous calls from unknown numbers.
As a response I downloaded a program called ROOT Call Blocker. I like because it is a root level program, and with this access it is able to block calls ruthlessly and silently.
I know you've already found one but for anyone else looking, Avast Mobile Security works great and offers a fantastic array of extra features on top of the SMS & Call Filters. Worth a looking at.
There are certain devices running Jelly Bean that root call blocker does not work on. I would not recommend Root Call Blocker as they have yet to fix it from completely disabling your radio signal for certain devices (in my case a Motorola Razr M). Problem has persisted for months and the dev has not been helpful in resolving the issue. Check the Play Store reviews to see if your device is one of them. When the app is working, it's awesome.

Does Avast block the call/sms silently or do you hear a ring/notification?
What happens to the blocked call? Does it just disconnect and the caller hears nothing?
Mr. Number is great for this. It also has reverse phone look up as well. Awesome app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tcm51bWJlci5ibG9ja2VyIl0.
I would absolutely not use Mr. Number due to all of the bloated and (in my opinion, unnecessary excess features) included on the app. It used to be top notch and now it's a she'll of it's former self. And I have tried out at least 10 blockers for extended periods of time.
The best as it stands right now are:
- Unrooted: "Call Blocker" by embware (simple, efficient, fast, and many blocking method choices) - Free
- Rooted: (The recently fixed) "Root Call Blocker" by fahrbot. (blocks calls at the system level. Super fast, no bloat) warning: Dev attitude and support is terrible. Don't expect any help if it's not working. - Trial Free, Pro $7

Well I guess I should have said it includes a lot of additional "features" that either people don't need or don't seem to want. There is no reason I need to be able to send texts from the program. It also does not consistently block all calls as it once did. Caller ID used to work, but as of 4 months ago it did not work for me on either device I own. The block would sometimes take up to two rings to block the call while Root Call Blocker takes 0 and a maximum of a half of a ring for Call Blocker. So Mr. Number is slower than its competitors. The two I mentioned excel at one thing, blocking calls and texts without additional frills or features. And I was a huge Mr. Number fan for a couple years ending around the beginning of 2012. If you're happy with Mr. Number and it's working for you, awesome. It's less efficient than it once was and a good number of the Google Play reviews mirror that opinion. To each his own, though.

As of last week, Root Call Blocker was not running on select Motorola devices running Jelly Bean. The issue has since been fixed thankfully.
I moved to root call blocker pro and give it 5 stars .
Call Blocker 2.0 I recommended failed a few times to block an incoming call. Could not find the pattern when and why it fails. Its unpredictable.

I've never done that before. I found a Youtube video that seems to outline the process. Does this seem correct?
Find apk in Root Explorer
Copy file
Try pasting it into /system/media
If not, choose "Mount R/W" button so it says "Mount R/O"
Paste again
Hold down on APK and choose permissions
Check:
Owner - Read write
Group - Read
Otheres - Read
Uncheck rest
Click OK
File should show "rw-r-r" under the name
Move this file to system/app
Click back once and click "Mount R/O" at top right
Reboot

The reason the visual voicemail does not work on Lifeless is because some of the Sprint bloat that is removed is needed by visual voicemail. If you install one of the stock V9 rooted (i recommend the one by b-reezy) your visual voicemail will work. As long as you are on Lifeless or Imperium you can use Google Voice as a work-around. At least this has been my findings after trying several other work-arounds with no luck. I too am on Lifeless V9 ... I love the ROM so I am willing to deal with the lack of visual voicemail. It has been my experience that it's interpretations of what the caller actually said were not too accurate anyways. Hope this helps.

Just download the Google Voice app from the Play Store and go through the set-up, it will make your voicemail notifications and stuff with voicemail work. Sprint has some type of agreement with Google voice and u can assign your mobile number as your google voice number, but this can cause some undesirable effects for some users (mainly caller ID issues with your outgoing texts and calls) I eventually uninstalled Voice and disabled my mobile number from being my voice number. It is easy to set up, u can also go to www.google.com/voice and set up some other options there from your PC.

Yea I had to uninstall it as well. I wasn't able to send or receive calls. Even after uninstalling it I still had to go onto a computer to take my number off the account. I tried setting it up later without using my number but i didn't see where it gave me an option of assigning me a number.
