Using Cyanogenmod 7 , want to try Oxygen rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I am currently using Cyanogenmod 7 , I like to try Oxygen rom , So I download the update-oxygen-2.2.1-signed.zip and place it in my sd card? then reboot to recovery and update from there?
Do I need to do anything else like wipe and clear?
Thanks a lot!

Yes, factory reset is a must if you are changing roms. It can sometimes be skipped for some incremental updates, but not in your case.

As long as you use a hboot with >100 mb for /system, you won't have any problems. I recommend to read the oxygen faq here. This will answer nearly all (basic) questions.

Thanks, I am just wondering should I flash the oxygen first or the hboot first. thanks

Flash the oxygen hboot first then the rom

I have flash to Oxygen rom , I am trying to figure out how to flash the hboot now, is it possible to flash the hboot now? thanks

ofcourse it is just make a nandroid backup first
1) Nandroid backup in recovery.
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore
you have everything you need on the alpharev site
i would reccomend you the CM7 r2 table

Where do I place my hboot file in? the root of sd card? thanks!

No. You place it in the /your path/android-tools/ (or anywhere you set your adb up). Make sure that fastboot.exe is in that same folder for which you created that environment variable.

Why would you do that for Oxygen rom? Don't you think that would be a waste of available space?

Hm, best start with MatDrOiD's guide here. You need to set up android sdk in order to use adb and fastboot commands.
adb is an abbreviation for android data bridge, but I won't explain any further as you have everything you need to start using adb in his guide.
Hit thanks for his guide in it's respective thread.

this recovery dont have zip file?
I have NO idea what you're doing but a ZIP file isn't needed. How did you root in the first place? I think you need to go away and read some more rather than post vague, pointless questions
+1 on what EddyOS said.
First of all you said, you need this specified CWM for recognising your btrfs partition and then you ask in the other thread how to make one?
Seriously what ROM do you want to install, because I saw that only avatariaHD supports so far btrfs.
Why the so much hassle for a little bit faster partition?
Anyways, use unrEVOked, or make your phone S-OFF, and flash the recovery what you want.

but if you really want to then head over to the alpharev site and download the hboot downgrader, flash that either by fastboot or the pb99img.zip method, then run a froyo ruu

you cant do that, but you can go to http://revolutionary.io and flash a custom hboot, then you can decide if you want to:
1) Flash the downgrader.img and run a Froyo RUU to remain stock OR
2) Flash custom recovery (and root or flash custom ROM)
What is the ultimate goal? You want to be rooted and with custom ROM?

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Windows Installation
0. Install HTC Sync (driver required).
1. Extract the downloaded zip file fully (do not just click on the zip file).
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Ensure 'ask me' is set under 'Connect to PC' setting with 'charge only'. Plug in your phone.
3. Double-click on the win-down file.
4. Follow instructions and wait.
I also used this one, don't know if it is the same

Same problem
If I didn't use the right method, please let me know and explain me if possible.
Thank you.

hi
last night i tried to install android revolution HD 14.1 jellybean on my one x.
i unlocked the bootloader and put clockwork recovery on. I then created a backup through cwr just in case anything went wrong.
I then followed the guide on here to install the rom.
long story short it got stuck in a boot loop. I obviously didn't put the right boot.img file.
i still had access to recovery etc and continued to search online for solutions.
I decided to try and install the rom again.
so i relocked the bootloader and rebooted. i opened command prompt and typed in " fastboot oem rebootRUU" but i get (bootloader) (ERR) command error !!!
what do i do?
Did you update your HBOOT before you unlocked your bootloader?
What is your current HBOOT version?
Have you flashed the correct boot.img for ARHD 14.1?
We need a little more info on what you have done and/or not done.

You need to update your HBOOT to the latest one using this tool,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
You need to put your unlock tiken and Boot.img in the same unzipped file as the firmware flasher stuff. Boot your phone into fastboot, start the .bat file and let it do it's thing, it will talk you through each step as it's doing it. Then you just need to flash the rom in recovery. Make sure your CID is on the list in the first page

[Q] No OS installed on HTC ONE M8! Plz HELP!

Hi everyone! I installed the stock google edition on my HTC ONE M8 last night using adb command. Then I get in TWRP recovery try to restore my previous backup that I made using TWRP. Then I got an "restore failed". So, I get in wipe, but I chose the advanced wipe instead of factory reset because my old defy+ is this. I'm so stupid.... I deleted the system. Now I have no OS installed on my phone. I googled earlier that people were saying that using ADB sideload will work. I get in recovery and pressed the sideload but the progress bar just keep going for like 8 hours straight !!! What should I do?
Also, my phone has unlocked boot loader and S-OFF. I rooted my phone before I did the wipe.

It'll only show when booted into TWRP (so flash that in fastboot if you have to), and that's when you push the file

Okay. When I tried to use TWRP install the zip file. It told me failed. Is that wrong or should I use adb?
Your backup probably failed because it didn't backup correctly. It's happened to me a couple of times wirh TWRP. You should always check your backup works before deleting anything. There are stock backups available on this forum.
The RUU has to be flashed in fastboot using the fastboot commands, so if you're trying to flash it in TWRP it will fail. To flash the RUU, you have to:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <nameofzip>.zip
First time WILL fail, so then run the same command again - fastboot flash zip <nameofzip>.zip
fastboot reboot
This is ONLY for the RUU ZIP file and not a normal TWRP-flashable ZIP

If you did want sense all you need to do is restore a stock backup and then flash firmware.
If you restore gpe ruu, just download a stock sense backup, the copy and paste the extracted folder it in the twrp folder and restore, then flash the firmware_splash.zip in RUU mode

fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
Replace TWRP.img with the path where the twrp.img is located for you.
If you are not familiar with fastboot commands and recoverries, start reading here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
Once you have Twrp Recovery installed, you can restore a backup, of you previously made one.
If not you will have to search such a backup someone else made of your software version.
Good luck!

You must know something, if you erased your system and the recovery.
Start reading here:

after you understand it, you have to install HTC drivers, adb and fastboot pack.

No, you can't. It's too big for the format of the internal storage. It can't handle the file.
And the rooting guide you linked earlier in this thread is outdated. Using the files from that guide will lead to a bootloop.

Thanks for the reply.
He doesn't want to root, just to restore the os.
So, if he uses the twrp backup in your thread on an SD card, he will have his os back (it's not one of the corrupt ones).

Even if the OP doesn't want to root there might be other users who read this thread and see the link. If they follow the guide they will end up with a bootloop. That's why I stated/warned that the guide is outdated.
Either he uses the backup or a RUU. There are more than enough RUUs he could use since his firmware is quite old.
None of the backups is corrupt. And all broken RUUs that I know of aren't linked in my thread.
