How do I install the recovery?
http://www.2.multiupload.com/QOM0G3LG3X
The file extension is .img
Are you rooted at present? And do you have S-OFF?
Flash it using unrevoked. Or like eddyos says true fastboot.

A tad more information is needed first? Are you rooted? If so, you've already got CWM on your phone so why do you want that one?
Help us here a bit

OK, why didn't you just say that at the beginning?!?!
Either flash it using unrEVOked or you'll have to S-OFF to flash it manually

hi
thank u for education
but
it's failed
this recovery dont have zip file?
I have NO idea what you're doing but a ZIP file isn't needed. How did you root in the first place? I think you need to go away and read some more rather than post vague, pointless questions
+1 on what EddyOS said.
First of all you said, you need this specified CWM for recognising your btrfs partition and then you ask in the other thread how to make one?
Seriously what ROM do you want to install, because I saw that only avatariaHD supports so far btrfs.
Why the so much hassle for a little bit faster partition?
Anyways, use unrEVOked, or make your phone S-OFF, and flash the recovery what you want.

I got a PVT4 Desire rooted S-ON and want to backup my current ROM.
I would like to use ClockworkMod Recovery, but can I flash it on recovery without S-OFF?
And I don't want to flash alpharev and hboot without a recovery. Is there any possibility getting a new working Version on my PVT4?
Thank you!
What recovery do you have now?
What version do you want flash (I mean version of CWM)?
Did you search the forum? Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002930
Now I got the one RomManager downloads and flashes = 2.5.0.7 <-- won't work with PVT4 Desire
I want the best/newest I can get with S-ON. Is 3.2.0.1 the newest for desire?
I think it is.
But the only way to flash it permanently (as S-ON) is the Unrevoked root tool.
Which means, you have to select the recovery (as custom recovery) in Unrevoked and root again.
There is no "best". Take the one that suits your needs and, more importantly, is working. Here's the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039954
And here's the 4EXT thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154221
Take your pick and let unrevoked do the rest.

Personally I'd just S-OFF your phone, in my opinion that's just the easier way.. that and having the addition of extra options of a. easier to fix your phone of something goes wrong and b. having the option of flashing different SPL/Hboot c. having the option of flashing different radios d. perma-flashing recoveries is easier
S-OFF'ing with revolutionary is a breeze and takes under a minute...
4EXT is some other Recovery, not CwM? I think I'll S-OFF it a after the holidays means net saturday/sunday
Thank you!
Yep, it's not cwm recovery.

Why do you think you need to downgrade your hboot? What benefits do you expect to gain from doing so?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
as rootsu said, theres no benefits
but if you really want to then head over to the alpharev site and download the hboot downgrader, flash that either by fastboot or the pb99img.zip method, then run a froyo ruu
I already tried using the hboot downgrader but it didn't work.
I also tried unrevoked...

what bugs have you found?
you cant do that, but you can go to http://revolutionary.io and flash a custom hboot, then you can decide if you want to:
1) Flash the downgrader.img and run a Froyo RUU to remain stock OR
2) Flash custom recovery (and root or flash custom ROM)
What is the ultimate goal? You want to be rooted and with custom ROM?

Is there a way to S-on again ? or change HBOOT?
I try to downgrade but I still have the S-OFF hboot 6.093.1002.

only way to s-on is to flash downgrader.img then run RUU. S-off is good though.

The procedure succeed when the downgrde is down I can read "[2] boot loader = bypassed"... others are OK
I tried also other think... flashing with different RUU Roms, works every time except the boot that didn't change...
Did you succeed overwriting the hboot after s-off on time?
I think I will leave it so

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Windows Installation
0. Install HTC Sync (driver required).
1. Extract the downloaded zip file fully (do not just click on the zip file).
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Ensure 'ask me' is set under 'Connect to PC' setting with 'charge only'. Plug in your phone.
3. Double-click on the win-down file.
4. Follow instructions and wait.
I also used this one, don't know if it is the same
http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip
Same problem
If I didn't use the right method, please let me know and explain me if possible.
Thank you.

AAHK has already retired. If you take a look at second post (Sticky post) in in this general section, you can see the thread entitled "[How to] ROOT without the Hack Kit".
However, this tools will not provide s-off to you. Only give you privilege to run root and install custom ROM.
You are tech people? Able to reverse-engineered windows files in a few hours? Then this is ADVANCE method to achieve s-off > http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=411

AAHK will not working because the tools is automated to download certain files after it query your phone version info in order to downgrade it accordingly. And these files have already taken down from the server.
Please read the thread carefully in order to understand what the tools is supposed to be doing before run it. :good:

It needs Internet, but more than that, it downloads files from a server that is no longer up. Unlock the bootloader; it's the only easy way right now to get root and recovery, but you won't get S-Off. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500

You can use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169515
Is almost "easy" to follow and you will have your phone rooted.
It is not possible to install a recovery from gg play. You can use another app instead, but your phone must to be rooted before.
The most easy way to install a recovery image is using flashboot, anyway the tool I give you before flash the recovery for you

This is the tool i used to gain S-Off (http://revolutionary.io/) Its a further developed version of unrevoked3 for the HTC Wildfire and AlphaRevX for the HTC Desire. This tool should work pretty similiar to unrevoked (but i don't remember very well) so maybe you should have a look in the unrevoked3 thread, which you can find in the Wildfire Development forum at the top of the page.
Also read the revolutionary guide carefully :http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
And dont forget to install htc fastboot drivers!
I found a very good tutorial for revolutionary and the HTC Wildfire

fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
Replace TWRP.img with the path where the twrp.img is located for you.
If you are not familiar with fastboot commands and recoverries, start reading here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
Once you have Twrp Recovery installed, you can restore a backup, of you previously made one.
If not you will have to search such a backup someone else made of your software version.
Good luck!

You must know something, if you erased your system and the recovery.
Start reading here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
after you understand it, you have to install HTC drivers, adb and fastboot pack.
Then, in download mode you have to flash twrp recovery.
Then read here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
After you understand it, if you didn't made your own backup you will have to install this:

You must know something, if you erased your system and the recovery.
Start reading here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
after you understand it, you have to install HTC drivers, adb and fastboot pack.
Then, in download mode you have to flash twrp recovery.
Then read here:

U don't need that as u will only flash the recovery in download mode.
U will not need adb in the os, as u don't have yet an os.

Not really.
Read section:
TWRP Backup Section II
especially the instructions,
from Flippy's thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
U can copy the backup to your internal memory.

No, you can't. It's too big for the format of the internal storage. It can't handle the file.
And the rooting guide you linked earlier in this thread is outdated. Using the files from that guide will lead to a bootloop.

Follow Flippy's advice, he knows best!

Thanks for the reply.
He doesn't want to root, just to restore the os.
So, if he uses the twrp backup in your thread on an SD card, he will have his os back (it's not one of the corrupt ones).

Even if the OP doesn't want to root there might be other users who read this thread and see the link. If they follow the guide they will end up with a bootloop. That's why I stated/warned that the guide is outdated.
Either he uses the backup or a RUU. There are more than enough RUUs he could use since his firmware is quite old.
None of the backups is corrupt. And all broken RUUs that I know of aren't linked in my thread.
