[Q] Rooting Driver questions&some flashing questions & also some rom questions
i readed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
Question 1: but i can't understand what is the driver thing
do i install HTC sync then uninstall it
or i just download anything wtf
just tell me and explain me the driver thing
i just can't get to understand it
Question 2:when i download my ROM
do i just put it anywere in my Memory card?
Question 3:what is the fastest rom avaliable i want it containing the following features
Android GingerBread 2.3.5 or 2.3.4 or 2.3.3
over clocked(over clock increase cpu right??)
nice looking
no bugs
every thing works fast and nice
and maybe
a drop down menu
and a speed dial
and making me able to increase or decrease desktop pages xD

Dude, first tell me this - Are you on Android 2.1 or are you on Android 2.2.1? If you are on 2.2.1 that guide is pointless because it wont work.
1) It's just what it says. Download HTC Sync, Install then Uninstall. Uninstall will remove the program, but will not remove the HTC Drivers, which is needed for the process to be used further.
2) Just paste it to your memory card. Preferably, not in any folder or subfolder.
3) I use Cyanogenmod 7, and I would think it satisfies all of your needs EXCEPT speed dial. The same goes for other Android 2.3 AOSP ROMs as well. You can refer the list here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
(If you are on Android 2.2.1, you will have to use Revolutionary to get S-OFF. You can find an overview of the process in the thread above as well)

I am on android 2.1
and is the nightly Rom contains the features that i want??
or Joker one
or that hellfire one that i can't find its download link

All of them actually, since, in some way or the other, they are all based off Cyanogenmod 7 RC / Nightlies.
As I stated though, I am using Cyanogenmod 7 Nightlies, and am extremely happy with it.
But, dont forget to take a Nandroid Backup though, before flashing a ROM, because, if it turns out that you don't like No - Sense ROM's, you will have an easy way to switch back.

how can I modify stock rom and some other questions

* english is not my native language so sorry for my english *
Is there a way to modify stock my stock Desire ROM? I know there are lots of good ROM's but I just want to delete some stock apps nothing more..
cookmyrom.se there is a stock htc desire rom in this webpage but, I can install this only if I can update my android with this, there's no version information in this page.
I read somewhere that I can update my android with custom roms, but is it possible with stock htc desire rom? Like the one in cookmyrom.se .
Best thing is to root and then just use a Windows program called Android Commander. You can then connect and remove apps. It's basically a GUI for the ADB commands. Nice and easy to use
http://androidcommander.com/
Thank you but I don't have any pc with windows installed. Are there any alternatives for this on Linux?
Can I do this on linux with ADB?
Yes you can, just means needing to learn the commands...
Can I update my android after rooted it? Or do I have to install another ROM to update?

[Q] Questions about rooting..

Hi all,
Apologies if this sounds like a noob question.
I've done some reading about rooting here on xda forums and have few questions. I have an HTC Desire (2.2) and am very new to the Android platform. Been a Symbian user forever and know pretty well about flashing/hacking wrt to Nokia phones..
Questions:
Say, I plan to root my device, is it mandatory to load it with custom ROM like Cyanogen, etc?? Would not loading a custom ROM only improve phone's performance, etc?
Can I ONLY root the phone and NOT install any custom ROMs? Also, what are the pros and cons of ONLY rooting and NOT installing any custom ROMs?
Also, does rooting really void warranty? There are various threads where different people have different theories? Is the warranty (if rooted) specific to a country?
EDIT: Also, would I still receive Gingerbread update (if it releases anytime soon) on my rooted Desire in the future? Or would I have to un-root it, and is un-rooting the device possible?
Cheers!
Do some more reading, find out why you want to root (not because that is what all the cool kids do:, thats not a good reason) and when you really know what you want and know what you are about to do all your questions should be answered.
unrEVOked only roots the phone and flashed a custom recovery which you can use to flash a custom ROM. You don't, however, need to flash a new ROM
Before you doing anything, though, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the software version.
Once you've made a note, try and find the RUU matching it here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
If there is one, download it and keep it safe for warranty issues

Not what I expected. Oh, and yes, I don't wanna be cool whatsoever. I pretty much know the benefits of rooting and custom ROM.. Those were just few questions I wanted an expert opinion, which I wouldn't find anywhere on reading the excellent extensive how-tos.

Thanks mate..
Also you won't receive the gingerbread OTA (that is if it's coming soon or any time :/) You could flash the gingerbread update on a rooted phone but this will probably mess things up so it's better to first unroot (which is possible) to stock rom and then apply the OTA.
Your phone should not be rooted when you are returning it for warranty. Rooting is hacking the OS, so it's not like you have not "played" too much with the device. I've read a few post however that not all repair services check for superuser permissions or a custom rom but you shouldn't rely on that.
What you benefit from using a custom rom are things like:
Code:

The above is just a quote from the RCMixHD ROM, but as you see there are plenty of tech jargon so you should give it some extensive reading to understand them.

Got a question mate:
My baseband version is - 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 and software number is 2.13.720.2
I do not find a matching RUU for the corresponding software number. Although I did locate the RUU for the baseband version..
Is that the one I'd need in future

[Q] Can I Upgrade from deafult Rom?

Im sorry if im being Dumb here.
I of course wish to upgrade my HTC Desire (info below) to the most latest version of android possible.
Im googleing the issue, but (androidcommunity dot com) said that it broke camera and other functions.
Since T-Mobile UK / HTC wont upgrade the phone any more. Is their any WORKING rom I can upgrade to?
Id prefer a default or fully functioning ROM, as I do use it for work. It'd me much appreciated if you can point me in the right direction.
Phone: HTC Desire
Network: T-Mobile UK
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27

You can root your phone using unrevoked, partition your sd card using gparted and flash any rom you want to. Follow this guide, its very helpful to new users:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Then search in Desire Android Development for a rom that suits your needs. They pretty much all have working camera etc so don't worry about that.
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
By the way using the search feature would have found that for you. Always search before posting a thread.

the noob-proof guide really helps, just follow the instructions carefully and you will be fine...i used it and now i am running coolexe's aces v3 which is great and stable! good luck.
wow, I know that guide is noob proof but it not very simple, with having to change drivers and even burning ISO's.
I thought android was more open than iOS - yet on apple theirs software that does it within a few clicks.
I appreciate it nether the less, will try it tomorrow - sounds like it will need my full attention.
you don't have to burn any iso's. you can go to alpharev.nl instead and use fastboot commander to flash the hboot for the rom (depends on which rom and what hboot it needs. if you already s-off'd your device and your hboot was upgraded you can use the downgrade package on alpharev and then upgrade again to whatever you like).
Or if u want something very stable and without bugs you could just root with unrevoked (very easy just a few clicks with the mouse) and then flash an aosp rom like oxygen so u don't have to use Gparted and iso stuff!!! Think about it
Changing drivers and burning iso is simple, if you follow the guide its about as ready as it gets.. Even for first time users. If you can read you can do it.
PS.. Its neither apple or Android software that unlocks the phones, its developers etc that provide the software that uses cracks in the security features of the handsets to unlock.
PPS.. Android is more open than apple, as in Android is completely open source and apple is completely closed source. It has nothing to do with the ability to unlock the handsets. Its all about Android sharing the code freely.

[Q] Your favorite ROM: Sense or CM7?

Hey guys
I'm really interested in what kind of rom you like the most. Just answer the poll.
Currently, I'm running CM7 with MIUI theme, and I love it!
Camera is a bit worse, but download camera360 from market! It's free and has tons of options! Looks almost the same as sense camera.
If I could choose, I would run MIUI, but that's not an option for WFS.
- SENSEMOD is buggued like hell
- I cannot import SIM contacts into Cyanogen, unable to launch apps...
- JikantaruROM XE no french language
- Unable to install apps in Salsa
- JikantaruROM v1.1 Euro version working fine
- Android 2.3.5 HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2 [Rooted][Apps2sd] - Fast Stable is working with some bugs.
Did I miss something? I really want to find something stable to make my phone faster

Yes, but most of them are outdated, so don't care.
But about your issues with the given roms, i'm really wondering what problems you got and i would really like to know why.
Have you ever given a logcat to the developers of the roms about your issues?
Cause the unable to launch apps at cyanogen is pretty strange for me, did you try to tell it at the cyanogen troubleshooting thread?
Also unable to install apps is strange, i had both roms at my gfs phone and both worked like they should (cyanogen did even much more, that's cause it's the current rom she uses^^).
I had an issue with wifi on CM7x and Alquez troubleshooted it, provided a solution and I've been using the 7.2 nightly from the 18th since then and love it.
It is fast. No issues with running or installing apps either.
I would agree. If you don't try and address the issues in the troubleshooting thread can't expect solutions to your problems to magically appear.
can v use miui theme .mtz in cm 7.2????i realy like the i phone theme.....or v shoud hv miui rom ????

I am just a beginner in all that stuff and I reported the contacts bug for Cyanogen.
Did you find a fix? I needed to exports contacts to my SD card and reimport them.I don't know how to provide you the logcat... I used CM7 from the 18 dec.
On salsa, the phone rebooted each time I installed an application.
Anyway I wanna use an updated ROM and Cyanogen seems to be the only one for GSM

No fix, but at mine (the desire s build), when i push the menu button while i'm in contacts, I get 4 options, import from sim, import from sd, export to sd and share visible contacts. Have you tried this?
About logcat, look at the index thread, at the general guides section is a guide to set up adb on your pc, after you made this, enable usb debbuging at your device, connect it to pc with usb, prepare your device that it is short before the error occurs, type
Code:
adb devices
adb logcat
at the pc into the command line, reproduce the issue and hit control+c at the pc. Afterwards copy the output of the logcat to a textfile.
Or you can make the same as i described above, but just execute except of adb logcat
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
with this the logcat output is redirected to the textfile (you can name it however you want, but i think logcat.txt makes the most sense at this case^^) and you don't need to copy it.
When I chose import from SIM card, the phone replies that I have no contacts in my sim card (which is false of course). I already tried that.
I'll report errors later, I don't have much time now but thank you for the informations.
One more question. Is Cyanogen the only updated rom? I already checked the ROM list but I didn't find any other working for GSM

Flash back to original rom then go to contacts and export to Google account or go to settings - accounts and sync, then click on your Google account and tick the sync contacts.
Once done flash cm7 then repeat the steps in contacts click import and choose from Google account.
Just like magic all your friends and families numbers will appear.
Good luck.
I saved them on my SD card, that is working too
CM7
I have just recently S-OFFed my WFS with the XTC clip and have been using CM7 for a few days now... its great!!
CM7 with ICS theme is great, battery life is much better than the others
CM7 vs Sense
I have latest nightly build of CM7.... there's no comparison!
Tried all the various Sense ROMs i.e. Jakantarus, they're very nice but EAT batteries for breakfast.
CM7 with data2sd/ext2 partition is best, battery life is amazing. So far haven't found any problems, its pretty fast and has plenty of settings to play with. CM7 music player is all you need and has it's own Graphic Equaliser with speaker and Headphone profiles. CM7 camera is ok, with more functions than sense camera. Get TuneIn radio app for all your radio needs.
Looking forward to CM9!
I'm running CM7 and I like it in any aspect but I would like to try a MIUI theme. Here's my problem: I don't seem like able to download from these locations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189723 can anyone upload the black one to dropbox and share the address with me please?
I do like CM7.Only thing that is annoying me is awfully quality of camera photos.
CyanogenMod 7.2.0
I'm using CM7.2 Nightly of Dec 18, lovin' it. [My dream was to have CM on my S-ON phone in those days lol]
Honestly I like sense. Cm7 is absolutely amazing for customization. But the polish of sense and contact merging has converted me....for now.
Sent from my HTC_A510c using Tapatalk
For now my favorite is Sensed m1ndh4x8r's ROM. Smooth, fast and stable. All i need)
Oxygen ROM for sure!
This ROM is cooking in my head: sense/cm7 mix!
Available in a month!
Now using CM7 stable with MIUI theme.
Testing and cooking HenseMod: sense without the crap, fast and stable!
Sense is ok, but I like CM more, because it's more memory friendly, no htc crap. I am willing to try every similar rom, even with sense.

[Q] how to Install cm on xperia play, need Noob step by step

Hello
I'm noob with installing roms. I want to install cm because i'm tired for the orginal 2.3.4 and i'm wondering if the touchpads and game pads work with Cyanogenmod.
I want noob step by step how to install CM( which CM is the best Stable or Nightly?) and how to unlock bootloader
If there is better rom like a JB rom you can write it )
Did you search for it before asking?
bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017679
for cm9 based:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
most cm roms for play have touchpad support
jb roms are cool but usually not what people want for gaming in comparison to gb
by best you must mean best for you so i wouldn't know, try some out.
here is a complete how-to:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_zeus
download the latest nightly build here:
http://get.cm/?type=nightly&device=zeus
cm9.1 is one of the most stable, reliable and fast ics out there. daily driver for me.
after krisdee's touchpad fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41961511&postcount=801), everything is perfect for me.
(you should get familiar with making your own cwm-patch or how to copy files to the /system dir. applying krissdee's fix works but to not mess with false updates in cm-updater, you should apply the build.prop edits yourself. copy the framework.jar and touchpadfix apk manually. or just edit krissdee's patch with the latest build.prop and just flash it.)
and no need for fancy mods to speed it up like adreno v3 drivers are needed. just watch our processes, disable some startup items and everything should run smooth and fine. but that are basics and to keep the phone clean and managed should be in every tech-savvy's mind.
