4G simcard with incredible 2 ? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Question I have a 4G sim card is there a way to use it with this phone ? I heard there was a Sino unlock so was wondering how I could put this 4G on phone

You can't. The radio doesn't support it.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App

Is there a radio out there I can install that could work?

It's a hardware issue not software, so no.

Nah, its unachievable unless you want a frankenphone. Meaning its a hardware issue. You could buy a 4G hotspot if it us absolutely necessary though

I appreciate the help I just figured maybe a sim unlock and a 4G sim card would work but I guess not thanks for the help i wish it was possible.

Meh, when they actually release the full potential of 4G, I may consider wanting it
Sent from my Incredible Sensation using XDA App

The phone can hardly utilize full 3g speeds given how slowly a lot of content renders on most even powerful phones. 4g is kind of pointless unless its your main internet connection tethered to a laptop, and that is a bit silly considering how douchy the carriers are acting these days about tethering, caps and tiers.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk

Actually, in terms of page loading, the 3G connection is the bottleneck on the Inc2
The Thunderbolt and Incredible 2 have the same core SOC: MSM8655. The SOC provides the CPU, GPU, memory controller, and radio hardware in most cases. In the case of the MSM8655, we are provided EVDO (some papers claim Rel.0 and Rev.A only, some include Rev.B), other CDMA, GSM (HSPA, etc), and some other radio technologies. However, the MSM8655 SOC does not include LTE support.
This is where the Tbolt primarily differs. The Tbolt has a companion radio chip called the MDM9600. This is hardware the Inc2 does NOT have. The MDM9600 provides LTE, EVDO, and I believe UMTS. It's believed the MDM9600 is used for data, and the core SOC is used for voice for the time being.
With that said, the Inc2 does not have the hardware for LTE/4G. The SIM slot on the Inc2 connects to the GSM hardware. The SIM slot on the Tbolt connects to the LTE hardware. This is why the Tbolt, with the same SOC, is not a world phone.

4g

Can you get 4g on stock with the incredible?

Don't believe so. Our phone does not have the chip nor can it handle the 4G capability. Not that the phones that offer 4G cam handle it too well either.

No. There is no way to get 4G on this phone.

Sorry to burst your bubble. But the captivate isn't 4G. The only 4G LTE phones VZW has now are the HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Droid Charge, and the LG Revolution.
I'm just waiting for a dual core LTE phone. But I'm in no hurry, upgrade isn't till middle of next year.

lol, i agree
but, no, the incredible is a 3G Smartphone, as it says on the box, no way to make it 4g connectable
as said before, Verizon does have another 4g phone on the way (the bionic) but, as of right now, they only have 3 on sale.
troll much? "yeah, I have H on my captivate". Who cares

what they call 4g is HSPA +, not just H. That's like saying I have an iPhone, it runs the i operating system. Well I have a droid, it runs A. I like A better than i.

yeah but some people don't even know the first thing about the iPhone's operating system let alone android.
i just love how iPhone users come to me with my rooted droid inc, and all like "i have the 3 gees and i have the wifi, and stuff" and continue to blab about crap they have no idea how to work. i mean, if you have it, fine, just don't try to talk to me about the phone and "how it works, and i am a developer" when you don't even know how to make phonecalls on the damn thing.

I'd like to know how I would port the sprint SPH-D700 to verizon

Like the title says. I've found how to port it to Metro PCS but not to verizon. How would I go around doing that.

I don't think its possible. 2 different satellites, stuff like that
Sent from my Epic with a lil' ice cream on it
Actually its possible but unsure if its legal. Verizon has cmda and this is a cdma phone. But it wouldn't be legal to get it to work on verizon. Prepaid networks care less what you do with esn's on other phones but big red doesn't allow flashing. But I could be wrong.

The exact phone pretty much on VZ is Samsung Stratosphere.
Differences is that Stratosphere is LTE, No HD Recording, No LED for Camera, 1.3mp versus our 0.3mp and you have panorama built in, stratosphere has BT 3.0 vs 2.1(Us), 802.11 a is added for Stratosphere, TTY/TDD on stratosphere and some type of hearing aid ability and GPS to track phone E911.
Mainly as a phone its pretty much got some newer features is all
It doesn't have stable cm9, BAM!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
And the stratosphere has a 1800 capacity battery like the epic touch but it's a different size them the touch.

I'd be more interested in porting the epic touch gs2 on Verizon would make me happy camper. Don't care about 4g. Hmmm

Lte chip

So when sprint roll out Lte, would it be somewhat possible to take apart our phones, get rid of wimax chip, and install Lte chip?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Unfortunately no.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Well, it'd need drivers for it to work. And we'll be on our own. In theory, it's possible, but incredibly unlikely.
Hmm, if you have access to precision micro soldering equipment and the knowledge to use it, sure....
Unfortunately, the radios in phones are very similar to processors and other components in that they are chips stuck on the motherboard. To further complicate things, there's a lot of hardware based instructions in SoCs that dictate what type of component is compatible with board.

Actually according to Samsung no.....the reason we got exynos CPUs in our phone was it would not work with lte ....the lte gs2 phones don't have exynos chips....that is why the att had a snapdragon...

Ha just buy a new phone if you want lte. Wimax will be around for a while anx they are still addi.g coverage areas. Heck today im out in the country in brenham tx and getting a wimax signal with decent speeds.

Anyone try using the Verizon micro sd/sim daughter board on sprint sgs3?

The sprint version does not have an external sim as you all know. My question is if you take the phone apart the sd reader is detachable. has anyone attempted to plug in a Verizon micro sim/sd reader daughter board into a sprint device and see if it would read the sim? I know it's a stretch but might be worth a shot to get working gsm...

[Q] LTE in the near future. Bad?

Will the switch to LTE in 2013 (I'm assuming to facilitate the MetroPCS merge) impact us Galaxy SIII users negatively? Does our device support an LTE functionality?
Also, if there is to be a switch in networks, would I be able to "switch off" LTE --to the lesser 3G-- to preserve date usage?
It won't impact us negatively. Heck it could even help us as it would lessen traffic on the hspa + bands as more people switch to LTE. And no our devices cannot use LTE.

I guess in a sense of it clearing the roads,it would be okay. It's too bad we wouldn't be able to handle LTE. Are you sure it isn't able to be activated via an update?

I'm probably going to have to agree with you, unfortunately. However, T-Mobile recently sent a pamphlet to me with a provided "FAQ" section, claiming that all of their devices will be able to support the LTE. I just didn't believe it, hence the thread's conception. It wouldn't surprise me if I had missed the fine-print-three-font saying "*this excludes the Galaxy SIII". It's still a glimmer of hope, though.
I'll continue researching the matter.
All of their future devices maybe. As of now, the only phone T-Mo has that is LTE capable is the Note 2.
As stated, T-Mo will still support HSPA+ as well as they do now. Gives T-Mo the edge over AT&T from how I see it.

It will give a boost for them. But I just did a speed test next to a Verizon LTE device and I blew it away. Best it by123 kilobytes

Our devices may be able to support lte depending on the frequency T-Mobile uses for it.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Here's a pic to kind of show what the network will look like after refarming and LTE deployment is complete. Our S3s or any other phone that can use the 1900 band shouldn't take any performance hit. In fact, as newer devices are released with LTE support (and after deployment) it will reduce the number of hspa+ devices, leaving even more bandwidth available for hspa use.
It has been confirmed and questioned a number of times, but the T999 radio is not capable of using LTE. Besides, LTE is still far enough off that most of us probably won't see it in our areas till after we've upgraded to a newer phone.
But in the meantime if your areas been upgraded to hspa+42, you may already see speeds that rival current LTE offerings by competitors.
