Ok I'm using exchange, fb, pop3, gmail, and the htc thing all at once on my phone. and I have exchange set to push.
Is this the reason my phone is slow as ****? I figured an evo would be able to handle this.
I'm using synergy kingdom newest and the newest radios from cal.
I have next to nothing else running and the menus are always jerky and laggy. I've tried the other synergy godmode rom and same results
Task manager shows 311MB of 404MB being used with 93MB free.
I have a 16GB class 10 msd card in the phone that has been partitioned 128MB, 2046MB and upgraded to ext3.
How about internal memory ? It might running low, and I believe you have little bit of "too many" accounts.
Try wipe cache and dalvik as well

Everything has been whiped multiple times.
How do I find internal memory?
I went to sd & phone storage and I have 176MB free
What are all the ways I can maximize this? I used the dconfig and told it to use as much of the sd card as I knew how to make it do.
eff it. I got away from that sense 3.0 crap. Why do people keep making roms for phones that cant use them? 3.0 was ment for a phone with 1gb memory and we have 512. I went to MIUI and so far it has been blazing fast. Although it looks odd.

Lol such a n00b thing to say. User error! You had to many accounts. I have synergy kingdom and it runs blazing fast.
Honestly I've never experienced speed in any rom except CM7. I was on nightly 29 for 5 months (laugh now) but I didn't see speed until I upgraded to the newest nightly. Blazing fast, Synergy had potential but just too much bloat on sense even though I miss through I miss the syncing.

I'm trying to determine if I have an issue with my sdcard, phone itself or I just am impatient lol.
With all the 2.2 Roms my boot time was reasonably quick. With most of the 2.3 Roms the boot time was quick to ok, like MIUI and CM. Now getting into the SENSE 2.1 and up roms my boot times are very long. As in if I cleared my dalvik every time and beyond, although when I clear it the boot time it very lengthy up to 5 minutes and this hasn't been the norm before.
Is this a common thing among the newer Roms out with them having Rosies not native to our phones?
The reason I asked about this is I upgraded to a class10 card the same time I moved to the Synergy MikG Kingdom ect... type roms. I am not real fluent in all the behind workings so I am not sure exactly what reads when off the sdcard. I have it partitioned properly and thought that was supposed to improve performance.
Along the lines if this, and to further my curiousity, I have noticed that when I install an app, remove an app, drop or pick up 3g or wifi the phone lags. Enough to where it's not functional. This is only since moving to these Roms and sdcard though. After it's done doing its thing the phone runs super fluid like.
Hey all, This is my 1st real post so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section or if it has been asked before.
Pretty much I have had my Evo rooted now for about a year and flash a new rom when ever I get bored. I just discovered MIUI Rom and really like it, but there are a few things from Sence I miss and I just like to go back and forth when I get bored. Okay sorry i'm just rambling now.
The question. Why am I having 230+ mb of free memory on miui but when I flashed back over to Synergy I hardly have 100 mb of free memory and it feels like it lags a little. Maybe I'm just spoiled by miui but it seems like I should be able to have more memory than that. Is there anyway to get more memory or just make the sence rom feel like its smoother.
Again, sorry for rambling and being a noob, but im learning.
Thanks in advance for any help I get.
It's because sense takes up a lot of memory. I'm on miui myself. I like syngery but not a sense fan esp with all the sense bloat.

I just put MIKG 2.41 on my wifes and it had 347mb free after install, and 250 ish after reinstalling her apps. And so far it is ultra smooth. I was debating on the two, Synergy and Mikg, and went with the later because I played with a Synergy phone and it was laggy also. This was also our first rom,

Just to be clear, we're talking about memory, right? Not storage?
If we're talking about memory, I've noticed this too with the Sense 2.1/3.0 ROMs such as Synergy and MikG. I've been on CM7 for a long time and wanted to try these out. They're both nice -- some things are really, really nice, but I also miss a few things from CM. The memory may be the dealbreaker for me though. If I load up Slacker and start playing it, then leave it playing while I open up GMail, the CNN app, or whatever, it often gets low on memory and kills off Slacker (despite that the ongoing notification from Slacker should tell it to kill it only as a last resort). I never had those problems on CM7, or on the old Sense 1.0 ROMs.
Ah, well I was talking about free storage on the phone. What do you use to check the actual free memory?

There should be an easier way to check actual memory on these phones. :-D good question. but yeah storage.... I have SOO MANY lag issues with sense! Whenever that memory gets to about 104 or less. LAG! major lag.

Actually, one thing I've noticed is that there are two places in both Synergy and MikG that show it, and they don't agree. One is the Quick Settings on the notification bar. Right now it says 74.35MB free. The other is Settings -> Applications -> Manage -> Running. There it says 157MB free. I'm not sure which is right. Even 74MB free doesn't sound too bad, but my experience is that it's killing apps much more aggressively than I'd expect.
Ok, in quick settings it shows about 110 available.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Yeah I'm talking about the available Ram (Memory). Storage isn't a problem since we have our sd cards. But yeah 104 seems to be about all I get with Sence. I went to Mikg from Miui and it seems to running alot better then Synergy did. Even though both showed the same amount of free ram. Synergy we just really laggy as someone else said earlier. Does anyone know of any apps that can help cut the memory being used? Miui and Mikg both have built in ways of showing your avaliable memery and Miui was always 200-250 after I killed aLL apps but only about 110 tops on Mikg. Also does it have anything to do with the size of the rom? Like Miui is a 75 mb zip while mikg is like 250 mb.

Sense dude. Sense. S-e-n-s-e. Sorry, just couldn't let it go anymore.
I think that the Sense 2.1+3.0 ROMs may just be pushing the limits of what can be done with our phones. If you look a the phones that come with Sense 3.0, they've got 1GB of RAM. Now Sense 2.1 has been given to other phones with 512MB, such as the Evo Shift, but I don't know how much extra RAM is taken by the 3.0 bits in MikG and Synergy.
I think the devs have done a great job, and honestly, both ROMs run very well as far as foreground activities go, in my experience. But I definitely think we're losing some ability to multitask effectively with these ROMs.
I attempted to return to this ROM and did the full wipe three times and then APPs started to download and got 2/3 done when I started to get low memory message. I attempted to run Ap2SD to move Davlick and got not enough memory error. It shows that I have 48MB of free memory but I have my SD card partitioned to 2GB. Any Idea?
Some roms just take up more memory than others. Less storage is sacrificed for a better rom.

i just switched to energy again with about 50 apps loaded like flash and a few games everything i need and i still got about 100mb left. i tweaked it in the kitchen for my own liking such as adding stuff like google voice and took out like car home and stuff i dont really use. anyways my suggestions would be to get that dalvik over to your sd card partition or look into how many apps u are just installing to have. i mean i still do it. I download adobe reader even though i dont need it but i dont wanna have to download it when i do.
Hey,
When you run into that partition your SD card and it will help you out man, some of those roms are monsters its just something you need to look at the pros and cons and see if its worth it! good luck
I don't get it, if you flashed to this ROM before, what could be wrong? So far it's the only ROM I've flashed, without a partitioned SD card either, and I still have plenty of space, even after installing a bunch of apps on the phone storage.
My HTC Desire is currently unrooted (I had it rooted once, but it started crashing all the time and the battery drainage was awfull..) but especially the limited capability of installing apps is getting on my nerves.
Since I ain't felling like trying around for weeks, I'd like to hear your opinion on which rom ist the most stable and fluid one.
So, my question is now, which rom is right now the most stable and fast?
From the looks I really liked the MIUI ROM I tried, but I also liked the cyanogen mod one.
Additionally: Is it usefull to change the kernel? If yes, which one and how am I supposed to do it?

Any ROM that is small, and fits into the internal memory.
Obviously if the ROM needs an ext partition it will be much slower.
So basically any AOSP ROM will satisfy you. (CM7, Oxygen, MIUI, dGB etc.)

what do you mean by that, just ROMs which need an ext partition for "themselves" or also ones, which use it for apps?

#1 Yes ROM's which use SD Card to store apps/system files will be always slower no matter what.
#2 Never had issues with either one so cant really help you, when does it happen?

well, but that's the main reason for flashing, on the stock ROM I'm just able to have really few apps installed until the internal memory is full.
The crashes where most times completly random. Sometimes it just rebooted in my pocked, another time it froze on the lockscreen, and then it froze while using it. And after some time I got stock in a bootloop (on both ROMs)

Using sd-ext doesn't mean that you'll get slower rom, as long as you have sd card with higher speed (class 6 or 10). You can try CM 7.2.0.1 from Proz0r's thread (with int2sd support) no difference with stock version trust me.

Yeah, then make a video when you're opening large application.
First with the app on internal memory, and then with the app+dalvik+data on SD and lets see.

Go with OxyZM1.2 or MildWild v4.3, both Oxygen based and very smooth n stable
Sent from my HTC Desire
got OxyZM1.2 right now, I like it so far...just 2 quick questions:
How can I move whole apps to the ext4 partition on my SD card? I'm running pretty low on memory again...just like 30MB left...
I can also backup the login data of the stock email programm, so I don't have to reenter everything every time I install a new ROM, can't I?
by the way, what's the difference from OxyZM to MildWild?
Thanks for the answers till yet!
Hi,
My experience so far is very limited but:
CM7 is bullet proof, but my experience with using the app S2E to expand internal storage was variable.
One the one hand, you can just install anything you like and not worry about space (within reason)
Downside is after a few months use it was laggy as hell. It was taking 5 seconds to open up swiftkey.
Now, I've since tried the following:
BCM, a version of CM9/ICS for Desire. It's ludicrously fast and comes with a very nice built in script for using the sd card second partition as internal space.
It's still laggy, BUT I've now learnt how to align partitions correctly and that my SD card is badly aligned.
I've got the 4EXT recovery so once I've backed it all up I can re-partition the card correctly and see how much that improves things.
BCM's a2sd script (called Mounts2SD) also allows you to disable writing file times, good speed up from that too, I use it on my desktop PC's SSD.
So far though, BCM is chomping my poor battery, even when idle.
BCM benches about 50% faster than CM7 on AnTuTu (3000 vs 2000)
It's noticeably smoother for UI interactions, my one 3D game (Monopoly) it also noticeably smoother (higher frame rate)
So, I've got to now fix the battery drain and repartition the card and then my good old Desire is all good.
There's also something called Supercharger V6 which bodes well, unless all it's tweaks are already in CM7/9/BCM.
J.
not alot between the 2 really. download attached file and put on ur sdcard, boot into recovery and flash it (install from sdcard) this will give ya more space

hes looking for most stable rom lol also antutu scores are pointless and mean jack s*** imho
Benchmark scores mean nothing, just a bunch of useless information that are not right. Usually all roms that I used and had big scores on benchmark apps were running much slower then the ones with lower scores. As you all can see and try roms with swap support get much higher scores but doesn't run nor smoother nor better.

I am trying to find out what house keeping should be done to keep a rom fast? This question is not directed to a specific rom, but memory management in general.
I flash a rom, and it runs good. After a day or so [if I keep one that long ] I notice that it starts to slow down. Some times I select a new rom to flash because it is interesting. Other times I select a new rom to flash because the one I am using is slowing down.
If I look at the memory in Titanium Backup, it shows that either or both the system rom memory and internal are getting towards full.
I am using a2sd and it shows some memory used there.
I guess my question is, do we simply need to clear the cache every couple of days, or is there more necessary?,
I appreciate any and all suggestions as how to keep the EVO 4G running faster.
I would clear app cache every couple days. I also reboot at the end of every day. Clear cache and dalvik in recovery one a week or so. I notice this happening with my evo as well. Its not as bad on my rezound though. Probably something to do with free space.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I agree that clearing cache and rebooting is very helpful. I also use a2sd, dark tremors, and I have noticed that the more free system rom I have the smoother and faster my phone is. I used to use my a2sd to move dalvik to the sd card, now I move the dalvik to the "cache" partition and it seems to run better that way too. I noticed with the dalvik on the sd-ext it would take much longer to wipe and it seemed like I would get random errors... Could be coincidence, but the way I set up my rom's with the a2sd I typically have 100mb+ free in my system rom so its not an issue to keep the dalvik internal. I'm not really an expert but I have had my evo for about 2 years and I have flashed and set up my phone a ton of different ways and a2sd is a must with the evo. I noticed a big difference in smoothness since paying attention to my free internal space. I also have a bricked evo with a spare battery, so I shut my phone down daily for the battery swap. Prior to that I would never turn my phone off or reboot, and since I do it daily it seems I have had less issues.
Sorry for the giant rant, but hopefully I gave you something from all that
I use cache cleaner every morning and each of my Roms gets CoD tweaks added. My stuff runs buttery smooth.
