Hello~ I'm using MIUI rom.
1. setting -> system -> About phone -> 'My phone number' in 'status' -> 'unknown' is seen.
2. *#*#6484#*#* (test mode) -> 'SIM id' in 'Check SIM status' -> 'unknown' is seen and it also appears in 'SIM operator name'
* In cyanogen(mod)7 ROM, I enter 'My phone number' directly and let it recognize it. But is this impossible in MIUI ROM?
(* cynogen(mod)7 ROM
Currency settings -> Additional settings = enter my numbers directly.)
Please help me solve this problem and I would really appreciate it. It makes so much trouble.
bump!
Same issue here. Can't get DeskSMS to work without the phone knowing its number... Has the option just been removed from MIUI?
Bumping again. Asked in the Bulletproof MIUI thread too. Seen others ask and get no response so far.

I had the same problem on my stock G2. I had to call support and they fixed it in a jiffy. Just had to enter in some codes from the dialpad and the number showed up.

Interesting. So just tell them your phone number is showing up as "unknown"?
I just had an online chat with a CS rep. He had me power off my phone a couble times and take the SIM card out while he sent OTA SIM updates. Both texts got sent confirming that the OTA was received, but number is still "Unknown".
CS rep said I'd have to go use another T-mobile phone to get the OTA then move the SIM back. Oh well. Maybe I'll load my stock 2.2 ROM and get the OTA then try again.
Sorry hear your still having probs. Techs fixed my no number instantly.

Its all miui roms. In most roms you have the option to add number in advanced settings(for phone). No such options on miui though.

That's not true, my MIUI shows my number without doing anything.
I think it's related to the SIM card. Did you use the new card that came with the phone or the one from your previous phone? My mom, for example, is using the SIM that she got about 10 years ago when we signed up with T-Mobile and it shows Unknown, but I'm using the new one and it shows my number where it should.

has anyone found a fix for this yet? i know this thread is old, but I have been having this issue since I rooted my phone. I do not have the option in settings to change my number manually, or at least can't find it. Is there a sim manager or toolbox app that would allow me to do this? Anyone notice you cannot dial *228? For me it always says call not sent.

4G phones dont use *228
I've heard rumors that Verizon's 4G phones are updated automatically every once and awhile via the SIM card. No clue if it's true or not, though.
Correct, *228 was disabled on any of the newer 4G devices and it just screws things up when 4G users did it.
Yep.... 4G phones on VZW use SIM cards now so you do not have to dial anything. Just insert SIM that has been setup with VZW then power up phone and it will automatically activate within a few minutes of booting up.
Noticed when I swapped my t-bolt over to my wife's number that after booting up it dialed *22899 on it's own to activate. Not sure if this is a new way to update roaming and what not but the phone did it on it's own after inserting the new SIM.
What stinks is once you deactivate a SIM it can no longer be used so you have to get a new one from a VZW store or have one sent to you.
Well I might have screwed my new Nexus up, although I'm not noticing any problems so far.
I had *22899 saved in my contacts from my last phone and it does update the PRL if you dial that number. I was on PRL 14008 (Alltel PRL) and now I'm on 40086 which is the same PRL my last phone used (HTC Incredible).
It appears I still have 4G but I know that is not the correct PRL for this phone. Anyone know how to get it back to 14XXX? If I do a factory reset will it go back? I've tried pulling battery and sim out for a few minutes but it didn't revert when I powered my phone back up. Should I be worried?
Edit: Never mind, was trying a few things and somehow got back to a normal PRL (14010). More than likely just waited long enough for it to do its normal refresh.

Hmm...going to have to disagree with you on this one. *228 and *22899 don't work from the Nexus at all...displays the "Call Not Sent" message. This is true for pretty much all Verizon 4G phones. I tested both just before posting this to make sure...even though it was this way a month ago.

You can't dial them using the dialer but if you have them saved as a contact it will let you do it that way.
The prl has auto updated for some time. Even on 3g phones.

I haven't seen this. But my phone did try and dial out that *22899 last week. Then when I try to dial it and wouldn't work. I'm wondering if the 4G phones have some kind if auto-PRL-update or something.

Im sorry but did you even read any of the previous posts? Add *22899 to your contacts like you would be saving a new contact. Dial out that way and it will work. Or you could reboot your phone and it will auto update PRL location, or you could pull battery, pull SIM and wait like 5mins then reinstall.
I have Cyanogenmod 9a2 installed on my E4GT. This morning I ported my phone number from AT&T to Sprint. Now, when I place a call it give me a "your account could not be validated." Data still works, and I can still call Sprint with *02. Looking at my phone's Status Page, it still lists my old Sprint phone number. In system updates, I did a "Update PRL" and "Update Profile", both of which made calls to a Sprint customer service voice number, perhaps *03? I did a hard power cycle (removed battery for a few minutes) and nothing appears to have changed.
When I called customer service, they had me dial ##xxxxxx# which according to CS, is for my particular phone. When I dial that number in CM9, nothing happens.
I've come up with two possible solutions:
1) Flashing back to the stock Sprint ROM, but I really like CM9, and I'd rather not set this phone back up from scratch (again).
2) Buy CMDA-Workshop and use it to change the phone number. Not thrilled at the prospect of spending $99 to possibly resolve this.
Would either of those solutions work?
I've got to think there is an easier/better way, but the keywords I'm searching aren't turning them up. Any suggestions?
Your going to have to flash back to a stock ROM cm roms won't allow activation...so flash it change number update prl etc and flash back to it

Thanks! On the Epic 4G board, I did see a thread about a ROM that can be temporarily booted from a SD card for activation. Am I correct in assuming that there is no similar ROM for our E4GT phones?

As most of Europe already havve this update is it fair to say the UK will not get it
Sent from the Beast that is the HTC One X in white......
Unless some admin at HTC did not do their job correctly causing the update to fail to become available for the UK I must say, I am starting to think the same...1.28 never took this long & doubt they only have one or two servers dishing out the update...the wifi is the only issue I have & would like to see if this fixes it! I might actually never buy HTC again if I don't get any joy.
*UPDATE: Just called HTC & they confirmed that the update (1.29) is scheduled for the UK but their "server" is on automatic rotation so they can't confirmed when I will get it - either way they asked me to dial in *#*#CHECKIN#*#* which forces your phone to check in with the update server and queue in for the update itself. It's been 10-15 mins and got nothing yet but if it comes in anytime today then this feature might be worth trying - will keep this post updated if I get an update before end of today.
Better get this update.. no reasons for us not.to get it in the UK!

You type in the numbers, so:
*#*#CHECKIN#*#*
will be typed as:
*#*#2432546#*#*
If you do it right, the keypad will vanish after the last * and "checkin succeeded" will appear on your status bar.
PS Are you any relation to Simon and if so, can I have Cheryl Cole's number please?

Thanks, got the notification, I'm in South Africa.
I think our service providers need to verify it or test it or something prior to us getting it so I think we'll be in for a long wait still...
Hopefully it fixes the wifi bug, I have 5 days to return the phone for one that will connect to WPA enabled wifi, maybe I should just do it?
Ah it worked.
Just hoping the final goal is achieved...
The thing that i don't understand is, I got this update the day that i bought my HOX, a little bit over 2 weeks ago!
Which is as you can guess before 1 May 2012.... which makes me think that am I going to get another update or that was it?
Cuz if this is the power management update i can tell you guys that it sucks big time, since i cannot get more than 2+ hours screen on time, no matter what i do!!! Never got even close to 3 hours.
For the flickering: it's almost not visible, only if i use it with full brightness in dark places you can see it apart from that my phone was perfect in every way from day one and it still is.
My only problem is battery...

Hi,
So I got my new Galaxy Note 3 from T-Mobile yesterday, and I was just playing with it and stumbled on to 'software upgrade' section and just gave a shot even though I know there is no update out yet. But it said 'Your device has been modified, not available for software upgrade'. It is very odd because I literally didn't do any modification (i.e. rooting or flashing). All I did was change some background picture and add some SNS accounts. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks!

Ok haha so It turns out that the problem was sd card. Apparently if you have sd card in the note 3 it thinks the device status is "costum". But when I took sd card out and rebooted, the status went back to official and when I tested software update it just said my device is up to date. So just FYI, if anyone is experiencing same issue.
Mine says that the device is up to date.
thanks for the info, i was about to call tmobile to say WTF !, this is my 2nd Note 3, 1st one after i installing my story album (what ever its called ) my note 3 UI started to crash all the time, even after a factory reset, so i took it down to tmobile and they replaced me with a new one.:cyclops:
