It's not so easy to hear, but there is a ticking sound coming from the phone instead of it vibrating. Used PleasureDroid app on Pulse 1 setting to make sure it was trying to vibrate. The phone basically makes that ticking noise instead of vibrating, it does that on boot or when clicking the buttons at the bottom.
Video was recorded with another Desire HD, the source file is not laggy but youtube seems to have made it laggy :/
Anyway the phone was fine before, it's my friends DHD he's had it for a few months with no problems, it's a HT0BLAX. It hasn't been dropped or anything.
HTC say they will replace it but they haven't heard of this as being a common fault.
My 2 week desire hd borked out on me.
It no longer vibrates. Tired that pulsedroid and nothing what so ever. Think mines must be faulty. Will need to send back for replacement.
Should of bought a nexus s instead.
my last desire made a sound like a v8 motor....it was so annoying...
i bring it back to the telekom shop and get a new one... now it vibrate normaly

My Desire HD also makes a lot of noise when vibrating!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Have this problem a few months ago.
Only way to repair: Call HTC or go to the phone shop where you bought your phone (or a shop of your provider ).
They can send your phone to HTC back, and they repair
i had the same problem... a soft ticking sound during the first week i purchaced it. during the second week i got no sound and no vibration at all any more.
i had it replaced.
my desire HD also vibrates like a pneumatic drill...

My Desire HD sometimes makes strange clicks when vibrating(.
You really are just unlucky unfortunately. Send back to HTC and they will issue you with a replacement.

Me too! And it's very annoying. Any workaround other than disabling haptic feedback? It's so irksome I'm ready to disassemble my phone if necessary to fix it
i change the part of vibrate and it doesn't work.. any advice to fix it??
HELP !! My desire HD keeps rebooting. I was on MIUI 1.10.26 and it had been giving me a problem for a few days. I didnt give it much thought untill it started rebooting again and again. it doesnt even starts without a charger. when i plug it to charger there is no charging indication. even the recovery mode keeps rebooting. once i managed to install another ROM (android revolution) but the problem persisted. i went to the htc service centre and they told me there is a problem with the motherboard and they would have to replace it with a new one which would cost me Rs.10,000( 225 $). i think they were trying to rip me off seeing that i kept the phone in great condition and it has never fallen from my hands.
Can anyone possibly know why the phone is acting this way ? do i have to spend that much money ? i can buy a second hand desire HD for that much money

What I can tell you is that you can buy a second hand desire hd at price I bought it 6 months ago with 9 months warranty at the same price
Hi Guys,
I've had some bother with my Desire. After Rooting, the phone refused to come out of sleep (sometimes the buttons lit up but the screen would stay black) it was an intermittent problem but forced me to remove the battery and reboot.
The problem crops up a few times on the forum but there is no clear fix.
It went back for repair but after Rooting again, the same problem returned. I sent it back a second time and this time it's slightly better. If the power button doesn't work, clicking the trackpad does. I've used an app/shortcut to create a power off / go to sleep button.
Clearly, this isn't ideal but it works and I'm now running Leedroid successfully with data2SD.
I know a couple of people that have had problems with their Desires from the same company. One of these people got his replaced with a Desire S seemingly because the company has changed the model they stock.
So, question is; do I keep what I have because it works (but untidy) or do I return it and hope they send me the Desire S?
I was told by the company that they would replace it with a new phone if a second workshop trip didn't fix it BUT they might send me another straight Desire with the same problem after Rooting.
Any thoughts?

have you check bortak guide step 9? Great explanation there...
Hope it is not hardware related...

Does this have to be asked? You have a phone which is broken. I don't think any of the solutions proposed beat that.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
Hy i have a htc desire hd and ive cracked my touch and i was to services to change, I went to service to change the touch, work well, but after about two days the camera , torch and notification LED doesnt work , what seems to be the problem???? has bricked HTC Desire HD Motherboard Flex Cable????
Just send it back to them no biggie though you are opt in explaining your case & HTC has the dumbest tech support/aftermarket support ever.
I've had my Desire Z a couple years ago now and, surprise surprise, the screen died on the day the HTC One launches. I have a One on the way but I'm wondering if there's any way I can hook my DZ to HTC sync to get my data off there without a working screen?
Have you tried ADB?

Did you have USB debugging enabled in Development Options? If so, you can open an ADB shell to the device and transfer the files you need.
Out of curiosity, how do you verify that the phone is even running if the screen is black? Does it vibrate on startup or anything? I ask because I had a Desire Z's power supply die on me a few months ago.
Funny enough, I replaced it with another Desire Z because there is simply no replacement device on the market that compares!
