[Q] How to install CWM 4.0.1.0?? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have CM 7.1 RC 1 installed,
but i have the problem of offmode charging (when charging phone while its turned off the indicator shows orang and stay like that even if i disconnect the charger and phone wouldn't boot unless i remove the battery then put it back again).
I have found this to fix the problem:

i want to install CWM from Hboot (without computer), How can i do that??
i have downloaded CWM to SD root and renamed it : pc49img.zip
then rebooted the phone into Hboot, then what to do??
and how can i know that CWM is updated??
Thanks in advance

I just took the recovery file from thread in dev section and made pc49img.
http://db.tt/KIwKUq6
Just download this file and rename it to pc49img.zip to be kept in root of memory card (fat32). If you are wondering on how to make it, you need the "recovery.img" (from that thread) and "android-info.txt" (from official update) to be compressed to a zip file named pc49img.zip
And this method works only if you have S-OFF.

Thanks a million bharatgaddameedi
it worked like charm, now CWM upsated to V 4.0.1.0

[Q] Loop on Cyanogen logo (blue) after CM 6.1.1 update

Hello
I have a HTC Desire (gsm).
Already rooted, with Cyanomod Gen 6.0.1
I upgrade using Rom Manager application, to CM 6.1.1 + Google Apps.
Download CM 6.1.1 and install seem normal.
But after reboot, when the HTC white screen change to Cyanogen Blue logo, after some time the blue logo start again
Impossible to boot ! My HTC Desire loops on CM logo...
I remove battery, try to reboot on recovery (holding the "down" key when Power on).
I have the menu.
When I select "recovery", after some second, the screen go black with a HTC picture and a /!\ RED !
It seem I'm blocked.
How to put a rom on SD-card, and reboot to install this Rom ?
I download CM 6.1.1, try to put it as "updade.zip" on the SD-card, but I don't know how to install it ...
Thanks for your help.
You need to get a custom recovery. You can use either ClockworkMod or Amon. You need to flash it through fastboot (I think) or you can do it through recovery. Command is something like
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
I am not sure though so you might want to check it out on here.
Once you have the custom recovery, boot into it and then you can navigate through the menu's. You can mount your SD card as USB so then you can transfer the rom across, then just install the rom by going to choose zip from SD card (or something like that).
**EDIT**
Comes to my attention that to flash via fastboot you need to be S-Off to do this.
The update.zip is your fake flash recovery image so you probably removed it. Get the CWM (same version as you were using) update.zip and put it back on the root of the sd. Next time don't rename anything to updated.zip, just keep the file name and use "install zip from sd".

Does the recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-bravo.img is compatible with the HTC Desire (not HTC Bravo) ?
I simply copy this recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-bravo.img to the root of the SD-Card (from my Ubuntu PC with a micro-SD usb reader) ?
I have the Android SDK on my Ubuntu PC, but not the "fastboot" utility
(not in /android-sdk-linux_86/tools and not in /android-sdk-linux_86/platform-tools)

What is "S-Off" ?
Ok, I find the explication : S-Off = partition signed off ...
Probably I'm NOT S-Off, because I never read about it before.
Do I need the fastboot utility ?
I read several pages, but all use different methodes...
Thanks,
Didier
Manually upgrade from SD, but always loop on CM logo
Hello,
I don't know what I can do ...
So, I explain exactly my problem :
- CM 6.0.1, update to 6.1.1 seem to failed : loop on Blue CM logo
What I can do now on my HTC Desire :
Boot with the "Volume down key" : I have access to the menu :
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.10.05.17.2
Mar 29 2010
HBOOT USB PLUB (this change when I plug or unplug USB)
...
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE (I try to clear storage, but doesn't solve the problem)
SIMLOCK
----------------------------------
I can go in Fastbook menu :
...
FASTBOOT USB (change when I plug USB)
...
BOOTLOADER
Reboot
etc ...
------------------------------------
When I go in the Bootloader menu, after some secondes, I see messages (fast, difficult to read)
No Image !
Loading [...]
No image or wrong image
------------------------------------
Do I need to copy an image file to my SD-Card ?
Which file ? A CM 6.1.1 file or a ClockworkMod Recovery img ?
------------------------------------
Do I need to use "Fastboot USB" ?
How ?
I don't have the "fastboot" utility in my sdk on my Ubuntu PC.
------------------------------------
It's probably not difficult to solve... but of course I not know how
Thanks for your help.
==================
Oh, ok ! I find (remember) that when I have the black screen with the /!\ Red, I can access to the Recovery menu with the "Volume UP key" and "Power" (not down key)
I try :
- erease Date : not solved
- erease Cache : not solved
So I try to manually install CM 6.1.1 :
- I copy the CM 6.1.1 zip file to the SC-Card
- rename to update.zip
- reboot the HTC Desire in recovery
Installation of Cyanogen MOD 6.1.1 seem ok :
...
Installing update...
Welcome to CyanogenMod-6.1.1-Desire !
Install from sdcard complete.
- Reboot
arghh.. NOOOO ...
Always LOOP on the cyanogen(mod) blue animated logo
I hope you have some ideas to help me.
Thanks
Didier
Solved
I flash again and again ...
I succeed to flash CM 6.0.1, and it works... (my Desire was in 6.0.1)
but not 6.1.1
So, I thing it must be some data corrupt, or not compatible with CM 6.1.1
So :
I copy again the CM 6.1.1 update.zip on the SDcard
I reboot again in recovery (2)
I flash update.zip
before reboot, I erease data and cache partition
And ok, it works... but no Google Apps... but my HTC Desire boot again.

hey there.. you should have got an nandroid backup before you had your firmware updated.. but no worry.. we will work that out.. the sim problem maybe because your radio or RIL is not new and so on... so you should first update your radio and ril.. but before that get yourself a custom recovery... i recommend the latest ClockworkMod which is 5... google 'flash custom recovery on htc desire' then download the ClockWorkmod 5 from xda (desire version) and flash it.. after you had it finished check it by booting into recovery either by passing out the 'adb reboot recovery' command in adb shell or holding down vol-down + power while powering on and selecting recovery from the bootloader menu (the menu you will see after you hold the buttons).. you should see the blue recovery saying clockworkmod 5.. if so then download the compatible Radio and RIL for you phone from xda then flash them using recovery..( copy the zip files into your sd card ( you can mount your sd to usb using clockworkmod recovery option in Storage/Mount - > mount usb storage -maybe different) then first flash the RIL .zip using install .zip from sdcard option then reboot again to recovery and install the Radio .zip using the same option) then copy the leedroid .zip to sd using the instructions above and flash it again using install .zip from sdcard option.. then test .. if succeed you are lucky.. if not flash an OTA update (the official HTC firmware) you can find it in the net... i will be happy to help you better. if your problem not solved pm me!
Apparently Rom manager has caused all kinds of problems on the desire. On the android forums http//androidforums.com/htc-desire/ they advise you not to use it. Hanging at the htc screen is a common problem. There is however some advice on recovery.

I have htc wildfire.
even i use recovery option (pressing volume - and power on) image of cell shows with some symbol.
i dont have a recovery.img file in my sd card. after saving custom rec.img file in sd card can solve the issue (with the use of recovery option in hboot).

Hi,I'm no pro so I'll try and help.
I think you need to install a cwm recovery.if you can find a way to place files onto your sdcard then find a pc49img version of cwm and place this on sdcard then using your phone with sdcard inserted you press power on and vol down then let your system find pc49img and install. Goto to wildfire, development, sticky, and search in 3xenos thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 to find cwm and everything else you need.
Hope this helps,if not then someone else will be more helpful and explain better procedures.

I don't think the PC49IMG method is working after unlocking with the HTC tool, flashing a recovery with fastboot seems to work though.

Use Fastboot
- Download this attachment and extract it to any folder (eg: C:\fastboot)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=630611&d=1308537074
- Download CWM IMG Image for Wildfire (Buzz) from here:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.img
- Place that IMG file along with the 4 files from the attachment in the same folder you created
- Now, turn off your Wildfire, connect to PC, and turn on in HBoot
- Navigate to Fastboot and Select it
- Open a Command Prompt Window (Start > Run > cmd)
- Type the following one by one and press Enter (It is assumed you created the folder in C Drive and have named it fastboot)
- cd\
- cd fastboot
- fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.img
- This should produce 2 lines of code - SENDING RECOVERY and WRITING RECOVERY. If both states OK at the end, you should have CWM installed successfully after this.

1 thing though, fastboot for a noob might be complicated, lol damn I'm no way experienced but I wouldn't consider myself a noob either and I still can't get my head round fastboot/adb.
I know for certain that using terminal method works but can't remember the process or command.!!!

U just download "PC49IMG" and save the file just in sdcard (not in anyfolder)... and then now restart it by pressing power + vol down, while sd checking it asks for the recovery installation, just give YES, then now delete that PC49IMG file in the sdcard (by putting it in card reader or something else..) and again restart it by power + vol down, now u go to recovery, now u will have further options. u can proceed now to flash rom or something......
Enjoy..........

Now that's just a stupid thing to say to someone who clearly doesn't understand fully what they're doing! From your comment what's to stop this Guy Googling a PC49IMG.zip and getting something completely different to what he actually needs??
Then he'll be even more confused.
If you know of a PC49IMG.zip that will work after unlocking the bootloader the HTC way then please share it with us.

find the recovery image you want then follow this exactly. this is how i did it.
I. Flash a New Recovery Image
1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written EG (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-buzz.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don’t already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some don’t experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you don’t see it).
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line):
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).EG recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-buzz.img
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.
Thanks for the detailed information but i can't follow those instructions as my phone can't boot.
i somehow managed to flash recovery but it is taking a while to backup current ROM.
How much time does it take to backup a ROM ?
Is it necessary to backup OR can i directly flash CM7 ?
Your current rom doesn't work so don't backup, just flash a new one.

hey guys i am really lost and i am trying to figure out wat to do but here is my problem i am trying to root one of my friends evo and he did the latest evo update and for some reason i cant root with unrevoked and my sdk revisions is taking forever to update is there quick and painles way to do it or no one cick roots yet??
Unrevoked hasn't worked since Froyo, at least 6 months ago. You used to be able to use Revolutionary to root gingerbread, but since the latest update the only way to root it is to use the HTCDEV unlock method.

Theres no one click app that works yet,but you can try revolutionary root...
1: Download and install HTC drivers HTC drivers
2: Download the rooting tool/program revolutionary . You will need to enter in your Evo's serial number (under the battery) and be sure to save the beta key. You'll need it later, you will also need to copy and paste, sometimes it won't take if you type it in.
3: Enable USB debugging (settings>applications>development>turn on USB debugging) and connect the evo to your PC as charge only
4: Un-zip the S-OFF tool and run the program, making sure to install the custom recovery when prompted. (unless you already know what you're doing and want to put Amon_Ra or TWRP recovery on there)
5: Download SuperUser and boot into recovery. To enter recovery: power off completely, yes battery pull while off too be sure, then hold volume down+power and from there go to recovery and confirm.
6: install superuser from recovery (you must put the Superuser zip on the SD card first, before booting into recovery. Or mount your SD card while in recovery to take it too your Evo. OR, download it too your phone before booting into recovery )
YOU ARE NOW ROOTED.
7: (optional but highly recommended) Make a nandroid backup via recovery and then put it on the PC just to be sure nothing will happen too it.
Now you said your friend installed the new update, there has been an issue with rooting after the new update, because the bootloader was updated and locked. If thats the case, then go here .

Unlock bootloader via HTCDEV method.
Flash your custom recovery.
Mount your phone, move your ROM zip onto your SD card.
Reboot phone/bootloader/fastboot then in your cmd prompt (pointed to your SDK folder) boot your phone into your recovery.
In your recovery flash the zip file of your preferred ROM.

[Q] Bricked My wildfire S. What to do?

Hi, I have wildfire S. Got it rooted and i was using custom ROMS on it for sometime, Then i wanted to extend the internal space and tried partitioning and used CronMod-INT2EXT4+_signed . It worked well, Then the decline started to begin, I tried to install a custom rom, had status 7 error, tried to fix it and had status 0 error, then had status 6 error, i tried to reinstall recovery, was using cwm 5.0 , anyway when i tried to flash recovery phone won't start after that, it goes in fast bot, show the recovery option but when i try to get in recovery it get stuck on htc logo. Now i don't know how to flash anyother recovery on phone, What can i do using my pc? Any help in this regard will be appreciated. Thanks

Well now i can't go into botloader as well. I guess battery is down, I am trying to charge it but its not charging. Anyway to charge battery?

Problem Solved,
Thanks for replies, Ok here is what i did, I bought a charger that charges the battery only so i got the phone charged. I noticed everytime i go in fastboot and press volume down it does find some files. File name PG something. i checked my wfs folder, i have PG76IMG.ZIP. It was from the time i rooted the phone. I put that file in sd card. Went into fast boot. When phone searched for file it did find the file and installed cwm recovery 5.0. something version. Tada. Problem solved. This recovery don'yt give any error 7. or error 0 or any other error, I installed a rom, created partiations and now the phoen have load of space and its running really good. Thanks for help everyone. Am attching file incase someone need it in future. Cheers.
Buy a new battery and then boot into bootloader. You can flash recovery in fastboot mode.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 7 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
If you're able to get a 3.5 v source, connect the wires to the battery for 10 min, without letting it become too hot.
You can still boot your phone into fastboot mode. When you're there (I suppose you already have adb and HTC drivers installed, I f not look for them here on xda) type
fastboot flash recovery XXX.img
with XXX.img the img file of the recovery you want to flash. (look for it on xda as well).
Then wipe all partitions and start from scratch.
Hope I helped, hit thanks if so
