Hi,
I tries pressing volume up and Power and my Desire HD goes off with the orange led blinking. What is that used for?

It won't damage your phone, I believe it's some sort of manufacturers testing mode. If you've enabled it, you will need to take out the battery and then re-insert to be able to turn the phone back on.
It is the bootloader menu

Yes its the bootloader menu... dont panic... just restart your phone...
No, vol+ + pwr isn't the bootloader. It's something like a debug mode from qualcomm.

+1 it's something to do with accessing the processor.

Yes I heard it is something to do with Qualcomm. But, I feel it is something to with the Updates from Qualcomm.

hi all.
I seem to have read somewhere that you can boot a Desire in to a "Safe Mode"?
Is that correct? If so can anyone advise on how to do it? Alternatively point me to resources that explain a bit more?
In case you're wondering why I'm looking - I recently upgraded to Froyo. That led to my Desire only connecting to my local Belkin N1 Router with a static ip address. I want to see if there's something else getting in the way.
Thanks in advance.
Yes.
First take your sim card out. When you turn your desire on, press the menu button until you see the lock screen. And you are in the safe mode.

I have the same problem....Please help.
I think I tried everything during power on, Power+VolumeDown, Power+middle button..., nothing works !!!
Help please...:?
Anyone?

Not even power button alone works? If so, I would pull battery, put in SIM and start desire normally.
Hi, i wondered if someone here can help me with my htc desire, i purchased it like this by the way. When i insert the battery and power the device it goes straight into bootloader mode but im unable to select the options using the volume button, is there a way to exit this mode? or is it possible i can use the volume keys of the handsfree headset (i dont have) in case the phones volume buttons are faulty?
Here below is a pic ive taken:

Your input would be highly appreciated, thanks!
Have you removed battery and try booting up again?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
hi, yes i have, as soon as i put the battery in and press power it automatically goes into bootloader mode without even holding the back key, which is puzzling..
Did you buy it from a shop? Take it back if so. Is there any movement in the volume buttons or ate they stuck down?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It could be that it has water damage and that is causing the volume down to be pressed by itself all the time..
i compared the volume buttons with a working desire and they feel exactly the same
Is this a new phone?
If so - return it.
This happened to my phone too, which was bought new. Looking around it does appear to be a hardware problem and needs to be sent back for repair/replacement.
Hey guys I am having a problem when I am trying to enter my bootloader. The phone just vibrates 3 times and nothing happens. I can turn it on and use the phone but I just cant go into the bootloader. Any ideas what it could be? I am using the Fresh rom and have used unrevoked forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched and couldnt find anything.
How are you doing it? You should power the phone off, then hold both power and volume down until the bootloader appears.

Yeah, sounds like you are holding volume UP and power, which (if I'm not mistaken) puts you in an HTC debug mode.
Like the Ninja sez- power off, hold Volume DOWn and power, should get you there
Thanks guys. Your advice worked out great and I got everything up and running. Didnt have a chance to reply until today.
Dear ALL Gurus,
I have encounter a problem with my DHD, i cant boot up my device. Whn i press the power button, the device will vibrate 3 times, and the light indicator was in orange color. :crying:
If i plug into power plug or USB (Connected to PC), it will automatically load into ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7 (Ace Hack Kit). At recovery i cant do anything, only can press the +vol and -vol, when i press the power button to select any of the function such as reboot the system / backup and restore / factory reset / etc etc... I use a custom ROM (Slim Bean), sorry i cant give much information, because i cant remember my device information. I'm newbies... lucky able to root my DHD by following all the step posted here...
For your information, my volume button sometimes got problem, it auto press +vol, so i have press a -vol to neutralise the key problem, but sometimes it wont work. it is because my volume button? or because the software ?
I LOVE MY HTC DHD so much, this is my second htc DHD, my 1st got stolen, i still buy back the same model...:good:
Can someone guide me what to do??
Thanks for reading my post.

What happens if you reboot holding power and volume-down? What does it say? And if I'm understanding you correctly, CWM isn't responding when you select any options using the power button?

CWM was not responding when I select any of the option.

Try a different battery. If you did not flash a froyo ruu, then your battery might be messed up.

Hi.
In an attempt to revert my htc one x back to stock rom., I am now in a situation where I cannot enter fastboot.
I have tried al sort of combinations of power+vol down but it does not enter fastboot.
It comes to the white htc splash screen and then enters the old cyanogen mod boot screen with animation. That is where it is stuck.
Any suggestions?
Yeah keep the buttons pressed Untill you see the bootloader
Power + vol down is good. Just keep them pressed and do not let go of them. Make sure you press the volume button properly
Hi Hoff.
Thats what I am doing but it does not enter fastboot at any point.

Then your are not pushing right. Hold all buttons in and keep them pushed even after reboot of the phone !
Could not get it to work.
Ended with discharging the phone so it turned off. Then held the vol+down when powering up again.
Don't understand why the normal method did not work

You deserve a cookie sir
as to the question, connect to pc, open adb (surely you must be having it since you have a phone and an acoount on xda )
then typefastboot devices. this will ensure that you've connected your phone to the pc, and that all drivers are correctly installed. try more than one time, even if it doesn't work.
next, type adb reboot bootloader. this will get you to the white screen. you'll be navigating with volume keys, and confirming with power. I think that your volume buttons are malfunctioning.
