If so, something called getting insurance.

I indeed have a broken Desire hanging around, but it's likely to be IMEI blocked. IF you want it PM me and we'll work something out.

HTC Desire A1818
Hello. I sent my HTC off for repair, and when I got my Desire back, it said HTC Desire A1818. I know for a fact that when I sent it off, it was only a Desire. Whats the difference between a A1818 and a Desire?
afaik, that's desire's model number

Thanks, I just found it weird that it didn't say that before and I thought it may be some sort of re-release model

Don't have my phone on me at the moment, so i'll do it by memory, in the Menu where it tells you your IMEI, Product Number and everything at the top of that it said HTC Desire A1818, however before the repair it said HTC Desire

Thats probably what mine says, just I don't have my phone on me
It's probably a8181 lol
It basically means the device "branding", should mean GSM and and unlocked.
Searching around on Google would constantly bring up those words (GSM, unlock), anyway.
Ok so i have 2 HTC Desire's
Desire 1 has a smashed (SLCD) screen but worked fine
Desire 2 is temperamental some times it will come on and work for a bit but then it will reboot then hang at the HTC Logo ( this has a AMOLED screen)
is there any way to get ether one working i have reflashed Desire 2 to 2.3 thinking it was a bad rom or something but still the same i even taken the AMOLED screen out of Desire 2 and tried it in Desire 1 i get sound but no screen, the touch screen works as i can unlock it
any help would be nice
Thanks
I would send them back to HTC specially the 2nd one but I guess you don't have warranty for both phones.
no warranty =( there both just over a year old
just wish one would work
I guess when you sent them to HTC and the phone's are out of warranty, they will repair them if you pay for it. So I recommend you to send them to HTC and let create a free quotation and then you decide, if you let them repair or not.
Both phone have been opened up so there ain't no warranty stickers, will that matter?

It's out of warranty so it really wont matter at this point. They'll fix it but you'll have to pay for probably the parts and service.
Yeah i just spoke to a rep on there chat and he say's
We are booking your handset in for repair service. Please note that if our engineers determine that the fault you are experiencing is caused by physical damage, wear and tear or illegal software, it will not be covered by warranty. The repair will be chargeable and we will send you a quote. Should you not wish to pay that quote, there will be an approximate £25 diagnosis, shipping & handling fee to have the device returned to you and not repaired.
i know it will be silly money if i get a quote so i would have to pay £25 just to get my phone back =( ill have a go at fixing one there must be away LOL
I'm not sure how parts cost but it looks like you have a better chance of fixing the one with the busted SLCD than the 2nd one that seems to require a motherboard change.
yeah i know =( random one i know but aint there no way of getting the AMOLED screen to work on Desire 1

I believe it's not possible. It goes beyond simply changing the display and the digitizer. A complete change of mother board could be required. I'm NO expert on the matter just so you know.

From what I've seen, you cannot use an amoled screen on an slcd handset. And vice versa.

Any advice please, i bought a new HTC one X within three week it went faulty. the thing crashed and when it started up again it had wiped my contacts over the next few days it crashed over and over till i could no longer us it. i sent it back to HTC only to find they dont replace only repair. they did that and now three weeks later its started again, i have been in touch with them and they say they can only reapir it again, anyone any ideas where i can take it to get it fixed right or any other advice would be great
thank you
might be worth getting in touch with whoever you bought it from. in the uk the seller is responsible for any faults.
it might also help for more specifics, just saying its crashing doesn't help really.
what exactly is happening?

Hi !!
I have a huge problem with my HOX. I've had this for a while and tried two factory resets and I just dont know what to do anymore. I contacted HTC but they said the problem was probably due to an app that I installed. I dont agree so I used the phone today after a factory reset and no installed apps and after a while I got the same problems. Here is a video that sums it all up...........
http://youtu.be/RoypOXbgWBI
Does anyone have a clue to whats wrong and is there a solution for it ???? I will contact HTC again and I want them to check out the phone because I just cannot use it anymore. Oh, and is anyone else having these problems and were they solved ???
Thanks !!

Thank you for your reply. I have just seen at least 6 videos on youtube with the same problem and what I can tell from the comments........there are a lot of people with this problem. I've already send HTC an email and hopefully they are going to acknowledge the problem and replace my phone (fat chance, right ???).
Oh, and I am from The Netherlands so I dont think sending my phone to the USA is a good idea.........but thanks for the suggestion
If you haven't rooted your phone, send it in for warranty...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Have you rooted your hox ? If you have could be a bad app like htc say, what i would do is make a backup of your current rom dl a rom (viperjb) do a full system wipe flash the zip file then go into fastboot flash the boot.img & dont forget to fastboot erase cache. Then without installing apps see if the problem is still there if it isnt install your apps one by one test again if its there before installing any apps it is proberly a hardware fault so either send it back to your provider or htc. Hope this helps in some way.

Restore your HOX to the stock rom and relock the thing (lots of guides out there) and then contact HTC about your problem if it still exists. I've had good experiences with HTC warranty in the Netherlands (and yes, i was unlocked too). And with good I mean that they weren't whining about it being unlocked, their actual service was very bad..

Right now it's back to a factory reset and nothing else on it and the problem is still there so HTC cannot use the excuse that it's an app that is causing this problem.
Oh, and me is a she

I am going to give it my best !!
Well, just phoned HTC and they are not going to give me a new phone. They will only offer that after a third repair. So I am going to let them repair the phone. This will be my second repair so who knows.........I might have a new phone next month !!!

Well a repair should fix your HOX right? And if it won't then they cant do a whole lot more than offer you a new one right? Just to bad it takes up a lot of time to arrange everything...
Well, phone was picked up today........will keep you all updated. I also posted my youtube video to the facebook page of HTC Nederland. I wonder if anyone is going to reply to it
I just received my repaired HOX !! According to the included paperwork the display module was replaced. I hope that that solved the problem. I will keep you all updated
I cannot believe this !! Now I have a whole new problem !!!! Within one hour of getting the phone returned to me I found out this.......

Unbelieveable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have already send out a new email to HTC and they are probably going to tell me they are going to pick up the phone for another repair. I guess it's time to take legal action !!!

Hi everyone,
I am experiencing low network signal with my Htc Buzz, and from what i had been searching through the net it seems like Htc is having problems with the antenna cover.
I tried slotting in aluminium foil through the gold connecters but it doesn't seem to help.
Anyone tried a method that works?
By the way i am on stock rom.
Any ideas? Thanks.
