Hey folks, noob here. I did some searches but not seeing anything on this issues I have....at least in the incredible area.
I have the Dinc and am running CM7 and incredikernel. Sometimes while browsing through an app (facebook normally) with the battery at about 40%, sometimes more.....my phone will freeze, reboot and then i will have 0%. I have cleared battery stats after it reaches 100% a couple times, so I dont believe thats the issue.
Is this something that has already been encountered/documented/fixed?
Thanks.....and especially thanks if there is a massive thread on this that I didnt find.
Sorry I can't link you to the thread. I'm on tapatalk. But do a search for the battery callibration thread. It might help.

I really dont think its the calibration....
It just died on me with about 2 hrs of use and most of the time it was idle....something is seriously wrong.... Im almost wondering if my battery is smoked....
I had no problems with my phone prior to plugging it into a portable battery. It destroyed everything.....
I had this issue with CM7 however I would get down around 30% and then BAMMMM!!! the phone would shut off... I recommend you charge the phone up to 100% then turn it off unplug for a few seconds plug back in (while the phone is still off) and let it finish charging the battery completely... then and this is where it sort of stinks, wipe the phone completely and reflash CM7... once you reflash via CWM let your phone boot.. let it run power off flash the incredkernel and your battery issue should be fixed... as always make sure u run Titanium Backup so ur apps are backed up... Good LUCK!!!

Firstly, I know what I'm doing when it comes to flashing. But I'm completely dumbfounded here..
Okay in standby mode, with wifi on i usually get -3 to -7mA.
But suddenly a few days ago, my phone doesn't sound my alarm in the morning because it had turned its self off.
Imagine my surprise when I had to plug it to start it. Turns out it had drained 60% in little over 3 hours.
So I began testing - turns out my phone had started to fluctuate between -90 and -150 mA EVEN IN AIRPLANE MODE.
After trying countless solutions (inc many different ROMs), I had had enough. I full wiped from CWM and installed fresh ARHD 5.1.6, skipped all setup, installed just titanium, and restored just battery calibration and currentwidget. I calibrated and then left it overnight in airplane mode - and STILL it fluctuated just as wildly.
I wouldn't post this if I hadn't tried everything, but I have spent hours reading xda trying to amend this. Changing radios didn't help (am using latest atm), changing ROM didn't help (not GB or froyo or CM7), even restoring my nandroid from when my battery drain was normal didn't help.
Does anyone have ANY ideas as to why this is happening?
The only thing I can conceivably think of is that my battery is giving up.
Is this good enough cause to get a replacement battery/phone from HTC?
Edit: Meant to post this is Q&A tread, sorry
if you changed the ROM and radio, then i'd be near to positive to say that the problem is from the battery!!
Buy another one and give it a long 20-22 hrs charge (although HTC recommends 8hrs - but they talk alot of crap ) before opening your phone.
Or, alternatively, see if anyone (friends/family) can lend you a battery and see if the problem still persists

Official batterys are expensive... does HTC do replacements?
not sure, never tried or asked, gotta phone them up!
have you tried turning USB debugging on? that solved it for some people.
i also had this problem, and the USB debug didnt work, but i found that it was something to do with HTC hub repeatedly trying to connect to the internet and using a shed load of CPU in doing so. aeroplane mode didnt help me either, but after turning off everything with HTC in its name it worked again. (specifically HTC sense in accounts and sync)
hope that helps, worth a try.
oh and my battery is fine now, lasts 2 days or so. can last a week though.
still charge it every night though.
Thanks for replying, but USB Debugging was always on for me, and when I tested with fresh install I didn't put ANY accounts in so the HTC thing shouldn't be an issue. i guess I'll just try the replacement battery thing
sometimes the radio signal kept switching also may cause a drain in your battery.
Setting > Mobile networks > Network Mode > Preferred Network Mode
for me i preferred it to be set as 'WCDMA' rather than 'GSM/WCDMA Auto'. The draw back is that i may lost signal if the signal is weak but this setting prevent the radio from being switching.
OKAY GUYS I FIXED IT
How you may ask?
I HAVE NO IDEA
I was just flashing things over trying to fix it and suddenly it went back to normal. I'm currently using a UV kernel, so maybe that's helping too.

Dont want to go too far OT, but how do you measure the battery current?
I assume you dont physically wire up an ammeter, or do you?
Ian P
Hahahahahaha, that's brilliant. I'm signaturing that
But no, I don't. The phone creates estimates of the present current/voltage loss, much the same way as it makes estimates of the battery % left.
So all you need is an app to log that! Currentwidget is the lightest, but I recommend battery monitor widget
OK its a battery monitoring app, but can you see the current drain whilst actually using other programmes?
Some apps use full screen so even the top status bar is not visible.

CurrentWidget, logging to file :

My phone was all fine, till i flashed Arco's CM10, then my phone started randomly switching off. When started, it showed 0% battery, which was weird as it was always properly charged.
Then i restored my CM9 backup, to check if it was a ROM bug, but I got the same error again.
Attached screenshot for battery stats. Battery problem or Software bug ? Anyone with same bug ?
After flashing the ROM, did you wipe battery stats? If not, that will probably be the cause of the weird readings......
Basically, over time, your phone would have calibrated the battery usage to your previous ROM....when you installed your new ROM (that has different battery usage patterns) your phone is still trying to apply the stats from the old ROM which is what is causing the problems.....wipe your battery stats then complete 3 or 4 full charge - full discharge cycles, and things *should* settle down....
From my Galaxy W on CM9 and CWM6 with Tapatalk 2
Tried that...
But it gets weirder and weirder :/

Try the battery calibrator on the playstore.
If it still persist then the problem is in your battery.. suggest you change the battery with the new one
Pressing "Thanks" button will be much appreciated if user's posts useful for you
Or you can try this:
Clear battery stats via CWM. Turn off your phone, and charge it. Wait until the charge indicator shows up on screen. Then turn on your phone and leave it until it's full.
Sometimes when I get batt weird reading, that trick works for me.
In some occasion I found that offline charging and online charging shows different battery level.
when should i plug the cable if use ur trick?

Clear the battery stats first via cwm then turn off your phone after that you can plug in your charger.

Just like reddvilzz said above. After charge indicator shows up on screen, turn on your phone (but do not unplug the charge) and leave it until it's full.
Im having a sudden battery issue with my G2 that started about 2 weeks ago. Im currently running 2.3.4 and have been for a while now. When using my phone at near full charge, it randomly shuts down. When it restarts it states I have less than 2% power and the red "x" is at the top. A few seconds later it shuts down again as it if it has no power. The only way to correct this is to remove the battery completely and reboot. Once I reboot, the battery level goes back to a normal state or it will read somewhere near 50%. Ive also noticed the following: the battery will charge VERY slowly. Sometimes overnight it still won't say fully charged. I've done the following to try to fix:
1. I replaced the battery with a brand new one. Same issues right off the bat.
2. Wiped my phone and reinstalled.
3. Checked to see if any APP was draining the battery or causing the issue. None are!
I've seen this issue reported by other G2 users on the Tmobile Support forum and none of them have gotten any solid results. I've browsed this forum some and couldn't find it either, unless i missed it.
Any help is appreciated!

Power down and charge 'til it thinks it's fully charged (should be a green light). If it doesn't show a green light (like you said, it won't fully charge), just leave it charge for a while (overnight would be good). Boot into recovery, either by booting Android + rebooting recovery or by rebooting recovery through bootloader, go to advanced and select wipe battery stats... I think CWM 5 still has this option (don't know about 4EXT)
zeppelinrox has a battery calibrator script which is useful and can automatically delete battery stats once fully charged... I can't find it though. I'll attach / PM it if you need it.
BTW I'm not sure if this is the problem, it could be hardware related. I'd try it though, it might help.
If all else fails and you're sure it's not a hardware problem, I'd do a factory reset and /or reflash ROM.

Thanks for the tip. I had already deleted the battery stats bin file from the system and rebooted and received the same results (assume thats what your fix does). I've also reinstalled the rom and had no issues. Ive done searches and found that SEVERAL other people with the G2 had this issue. Kind of surprised it hasnt yet been addressed on this forum. Back in 2011 Tmobile was asking for people to volunteer some info in order to fix it. Apparently nothing was ever done and when i call in (several times), no one seems to know what im talking about even when i point them in the direction of their own forums. I'm really at a loss and don't feel like paying out the a$$ for a new phone when I know this is not something I did.
Hi, I just bought a used galaxy tab s 10.5 and the battery jump from 20 to 99% in 20 minutes when charging . I started using it at 100% and it shuted down for low battery in 30minutes and I power it on again a it said 75%. How do you thinks is going on with the tablet? Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
Do you know if it's rooted and has a custom recovery. Clear cache and fix permissions in recovery mode
No root
It is not rooted and it have stock recovery. Is there an app to reset battery stats?

try booting stock recovery and do a factory reset.if that don't work than look into rooting it and TWRP so you'll have the option to flash something else or clear the cache and fix permissions
done
I did the factory reset and the permissions fix thrught TWRP but the battery still crazy. What more can I do?
I got the tablet down to 0% battery, to the point that it wouldn't turn on.
Took off the back cover using prying tools and then disconnected the battery, power cycled thrice by holding and releasing power button and then reconnected the battery and let it charge overnight to 100% and now battery life is amazing, don't have those drastic drops anymore.
There are no warranty stickers torn etc involved with doing this so you don't have to worry about voiding it. Just take your time and start at the microsd slot, open the hatch and work your way around slowly. Its difficult first time around because there is adhesive glue as well as clips holding it down. But still very doable without damaging anything.
Here is a link to a battery calibrator for root users
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitula.batterycalibration
There are other calibration apps
Definitely other options before taking it apart [emoji111]
..
I tried with the battery calibration app and nothing. I leave you a screenshot , thats is WHITHOUT any charge, when it shuted out I just turn it on again. What is indexservice?
OK after ready the links below I believe a debloated ROM could solve your problem

List of Roms

I will try a debloated rom because son process called index service is draining the 60% of my battery, but is rare that the tablet shuted down and when I tried to turn in on and it shuted down immediately for low battery, but and enter in recovery mode and leave it on with max brightness and it stay awake for 4 hours!! Even when twrp said that is has only 1%.

Post back to let us know it is after a ROM flash
Can you post a full screenshot of your battery settings. You just posted the graph. Not sure about the index service, but knox drains battery too.
Had the same issue crop up on mine. Did the the battery 0% drain then recharge a few times. And factory format. Now it just randomly keeps restarting (even when on charge now). Called Samsung and they have sent a pack to post it to them to sort I hope.
Now with the debloated rom the crazy battery drops have stop but I'm having random restarts. What's is happening now?
I know it's a lot of work and getting frustrating but let's try Odin back to stock .

Let's try back to stock. Thanks a lot for taking time to help me.

Now with stock rom I still having random restarts and battery drops. I dont know what more to do and I dont have warranty.
I leave it all night on plugged in the charger and it didn't restart but when I started using it, it freezes up and restart.
Now it sounds like a kernel issue .I really dislike that cortex chip to
Hey there,
First of all im using android 6.0 and i took of the case.
Last week my device suddenly began overheating and discharging aproximaly 1 precent every 2 minutes . Its even discharging while connected to the charger.
Pretty sure it has nothing to do with battery itself because i tried 4 different original batteries which all work perfectly fine with a different device.
I also tried to factory reset with no help..
I had a few "breaks" from this problem and sometimes it dosn't discharges quickly but when i start to use it, it starts to discharge fast again...
Is there something i can check before i send it away to the company to check it?
Thanks in advance,
Rony.
U need a waklock detecter also stock info whats drianing the bat screen web wifi also u can try safe mode for a few hours to see if its in ure apps or atock system
