[Theme][JUN 17][A70][A101] Gingerbread theme v1.1 - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Themes and Apps

I was getting tired of the unsharp search button in the taskbar, so i wanted to fix this. However, I ended up creating a complete framework in Gingerbread style. I also added 'Fly In and Flip Mix' animations.
Version 1.1:
Fixed blurry graphics.
Reverted back to original Archos app background.
Made fully compatible with A101.
Version 1.0:
Initial release.

How to install:
The easiest way to install is to overwrite the framework-res.apk located in /system/framework/ with Root Explorer.
Download:
Version 1.1
Version 1.0 (Old)

First Thanks for your work! it looks good
does this work on the A101 too?

It should work except for the blue background in Archos applications.

Okey, i'll test and report soon

Could anybody take a video of this, so we could see how smooth it runs?

Okey i tested it and i have to say: its good
It works fast on my A101
Really nice switch effects with these effects the hole android surface looks smoother
The only thing i have to say is:
The "show-list"-buttons (round) have bad graphics... (f.e. in settings)

I have another project running at this moment.. but it would be cool^^

I will look if I can fix the unsharp graphics in the next version.

If you could do this, I will try it, too.
But an other question: Could you make an additional version with green as selection color? I edited your photo to show it to you.
It would be great, if you could change it like on the photo.

I will look at this, but can't promise I release it today or so.
And for the rest: Version 1.1 is available in the first post

I just installed the Gingerbread Design, and it's great!
But I've a few suggestions for a perfect version:
- please remove the effect when apps are opening (the two black "areas" that go into the middle, you know what I mean?!), the rest of the effects is great!
- I think, the pulled down notification bar/area should be like in froyo (white/grey), the upper bar is now really cool!
- change the selection color to green
edit: I just noticed, that the bluetooth icon in the status bar is very tiny and "pixelated". Maybe you could take the Bluetooth icon from the old framework.

- I will look if I can fix this but I'm not sure. For the animations I took a pre-made package, not made by myself.
- Honestly, I don't really like the Froyo style notifications bar. That's why I used a dark one.
- A green version is coming, but I want to get this one perfect first
- I will look for a fix for the Bluetooth icon. But on the A70 it looks OK, just a little bit pixelated because of of the low screen resolution.

I updated to v1.1 on my A101, just awesome!
Just the download notification is also tiny and pixeled and i cant change my wallpaper..
any ideas?

I've created an own Bluetooth Symbol, and put it in the framework-res file. Maybe you can use this symbol for the next versions, too.
The issue with the wallpaper is normal, try to change the wallpaper once more, then it works normally.
So, here's my framework-res.apk in a zip folder: Klick!

I tried to make a first green version, and it works! Sorry Hondaracer, but I couldn't wait, so I renamed the framework-res.apk to .zip and edited the pictures.
But there are a few issues, like you can see in the screenshots, for example that the buttons become shorter when you touch them. And not all the buttons are green, but the most of them.
I can help you, Hondaracer, so we can make a perfect version.
Issues we have to change:
- Buttons in the green Framework shouldn't change the size when you tap them
- ALL the buttons should be green
- The effect I said in my other post
- the white status area when you pull down the status bar (in an additional version)
I hope for your help, Hondaracer!
Here the apk in a zip and the screenshots:

I create a news on my website http://www.jbmm.fr/?p=16760

I replaced the framework-res.apk in the system/framework folder but I am getting bootloops

Great theme
I was wonderin if I can change the theme of my A70S, then I found this ... I would like to try it, but there is 2 things I would like to know:
1.- Can I habe some instructions on how to install it ... (I´m still newbie in most of my archos A70S aspects)
2.- After installation can I move between themes or it overwrites the original theme (just in case I would like to return to the original one)
Thank you very much and keep going with the good work

You have to copy the framework_res.apk to system/framework and overwrite the old framework i did it with rooth explorer

Nope you cant, if you want the original theme you have to do like above with the normal framework apk

nobody has an idea whats wrong?
I tried it twice and everytime the Archos hang in bootloops and I had to install stockrom again

edit: fixed

[Theme] MonoChrome 1.0 [ADP1/RC30]

Hey all.
For a while now I've been tinkering around with icons and wallpapers and stuff for Android and the G1/Dream, but I've never put it all together to make a theme of my own.. so I thought I'd change that. I'm calling this theme MonoChrome 1.0, and it is currently ADP1 and RC30 compatible.
Have an ADP1 or RC30 and wanna try the theme out? You'll find the download links and instructions near the bottom of this post.
** UPDATE 01/19/2009: All the default system icons added, wallpaper/dock tweaked, changed a few transparency settings. New screenshots below. **

Thoughts, ideas, dirty offers..? Let me have it.
Oh, and credits goes out to brandenk and his Kspec theme from which I borrowed parts of the theme.

Wanna try it out? Download links:
ADP1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ICV03T5U
RC30: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H7JGM4T1 **Tested and confirmed working**
1) Make sure you have JFv1.31 installed on your ADP1 or rooted RC30 G1 before you try to install this theme.
2) Download file from one of the above links.
3) Rename file to update.zip
4) Transfer file to the root catalog of your SD card.
5) Disconnect ExtUSB cable and shut phone down.
6) Press Home + Power to start the phone up in Recovery Mode/JFv1.31.
7) Once booted into JFv1.31 press Alt + S to install.
8) When install is complete press Home + Back to reboot.
9) Cross your fingers and wait. If all goes well Android ought to be up and running my theme within a minute.
This theme has been tested on two ADP1 phones without any issues, but I am NOT to be held responsible if your phone for some reason gets bricked in the process. Install at your own peril.

The Market icon, you mean? Yeah, I agree, the droid needs to be a few shades darker. I'll fix that later on tonight, or tomorrow.
Oh and thanks for the input, it's very valuable because you tend to stare yourself blind on your own theme.
No the market icon looks alright. I was talking about that white shade behind the icons at the bottom of the screen. I think it is a little to white. It looks perfect in the top picture but for some reason in the bottom it looks to white. I am not sure why since it is the same picture. You might not need to do anything to it. It just pulls my eyes off the icons into the negative space of the background.

Ah, now I get it. I could try to make the "dock" slightly darker. I'll try that, it's like a two minute job, tops.
**edit**
How does this look? I decreased the luminance and added a bit more texture instead.
the darker "dock" looks a lot better imo. btw great looking theme. i was never too fond of all the other themes so this might be my first theme i install. also, not sure if you would be willing to or if anyone else agrees, since the theme is dark i think colored icons with the same black background you have now would look awesome.

Ah, I see. Well that's pretty nice actually, though bright colors are not for me; I tend to prefer the desaturated look. However, as soon as I release this theme people are free, encouraged even, to modify and improve on it as they see fit.
looks amazing, can't wait for this
OP updated with new screenshots. Icons added, graphics tweaked.
Looking good! And I love seeing you guys use my theme as a building block, it really is an honor.
I owe my thanks to Stericson for helping me create my first theme and letting me use his theme as a building block for mine.
Great. This is the best theme I've seen yet.

That's a good question. I am not sure, but I figure I will have to transfer all the custom png's from my ADP1 theme to the correct RC30 apk's. I might do that tomorrow if I feel up to it.
Awesome
I love it great work i hope you continue. thanks
i'll test this for RC30 and i'll let you know it goes
edit: so far it's working perfectly!
the only thing i've noticed is the notifications pane background isn't transparent like in the screenshots, but i can live with that
also, can you upload the background you used in the screenshots please? the theme didn't come with it.

Good to hear! I might come knocking on your door in a few days then
I will happily test this theme when it is ready (or almost) ready.
Sadly I don't think this can be done the right way. I was able to do the same thing with the status bar but it was a placebo effect. You'll be stuck with the same wallpaper. If anyone is willing to prove me wrong I'll be happy for it, as I got lots of ideas I would like to try but stopped due to this hurdle. Good luck in getting this to work.
P.S. the clock looks absolutely awesome.
sure ill take a crack at customizing this theme further.... send me a .zip to [email protected]

Unfortunately you are absolutely correct. I'll just have to go for a sort of a dimmed status bar that'll look transparent but really isn't. Sigh. Why do you torment us like this, Android developers?
The clock does look good, and at least with that one we don't have to fake the transparency effect
I might do a bunch of status bars with different colors; one whiteish, one black, one red, one blue, one brown, etc. That way at least you could get the color of the status bar to decently match any wallpaper you might use. Of course that also means you would have to re-flash the phone every time you changed the wallpaper to something with a different general color.
Hum, I wonder, would it be possible to make a special update.zip containing only the framework apk? I mean, everything else ought to be left intact then, right? An install would be very speedy, just seconds, when all that is needed is an update of the framework. No apps, launcher etc to be reinstalled.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I've done it with individual apps that way too, but never with the framework apk that is in a different folder than the apps for some reason. I thought it might be different with the framework because of that, but it really should not be. Good to know it's doable though, thanks for confirming!
Pretty cool idea, does this mean it wont show your service? wifi service, battery level etc? I wasn't sure if that was just a mockup you made in photoshop or it will really be that blank
I like the transparent grayscale idea though. looks promising!

Oh, all status bar icons and such will be there once it's done. Though preferably they will be redesigned to fit the glossy theme better than the default ones.
If you can realize this theme like the concept you showed, it will be a most impressive theme. Even the concept is absolutely beautiful.
If we can figure out how to get rid of the black bar at the top when we make transparent status bars this theme would be able to take advatage of it
O.k i have never tried the transparent bar but i think there is two one in drawable an drawable-land the one in drawable-land is black did you try making both of theme clear? Then again there is a lot of stuff thats in the .xml that might be stopping the process. I would ask the .xml doctor to see if thats the case.
I never tried and haven't asked about it. After the announcement of a new update I decided to hold off on any themes
Yeah I know I think ill hold of on Code_Name_Ninja until then.
I've got two on the burner waiting to be moved to update files and ideas for others, it's just so time consuming lol

[Theme]The Office (RC33) *BETA release*

Hey guys,
Here are some screenshots of the latest theme I have been working on. Feedback and suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated.
***UPDATE 4/9/09***
Made a lot of fixes based on feedback received. Clock now matches the other icons/notifications, I personally like it a lot better! Application tray handle is now a thumbtack rather than the stapler in jello (stapler in jello is now delete handle). Added matching notification icons for most common stock apps (gmail, im, messaging, market, music, etc.) Cleaned up a weird looking button. Download link below!
***UPDATE 3/27/09***
Icon pack is available below. Included are all the application icons I made, as well as a blank icon background that you can paste your own icons into so they all match. Here is my process for doing that, though I'm not in any was saying that this is the only, or even the best, way to do it:
-Open both the icon you want and the "empty_sketchy" from the icon pack below in your favorite image editing program, GIMP or Photoshop, or whatever.
-You may need to resize the empty sketchy image, it works best if it is about twice as big as your icon you want to paste into it. There are two different sizes available in the zip file below, or it is a simple process to resize it to whatever size you need.
-Select and copy the icon you are working with, and then paste it into the empty_sketchy image. Center it, do any editing you need to do, etc. Then resize the entire thing to 48x48 and save it as a new file.
I'm still making a few changes and updates to the theme, and should release another update sometime this weekend.
***UPDATE 3/25/09***
Beta version now available, see link below. I still haven't quite finished everything I want to do with this theme, but I welcome ideas/suggestions/comments from anyone who wants to test it.
This theme is based on the US version of the TV show "The Office". It utilizes both things from the show, and typical office supplies.
Done:
custom boot screen
some notification icons
unlock screen
button backgrounds
clock
data network icons
phone signal, wifi, and battery icons
notification tray
all custom wallpapers
custom emoticons (from punkymoods.com)
To do:
remaining notification icons
delete tray handle
suggestions, etc

wow that would be awesome, i downloaded this wallpaper and resized it for the G1 and your icon set will look awesome on it
not sure about a new app tab I will be thinking about it and let you know if i think of something

See the first post for a link to a zip file with all the icons from this theme and instructions on how to make matching icons for other applications.
@JediMasterASD: That corkboard wallpaper is awesome. Maybe I should include that as one of the wallpaper gallery choices in the theme.

I don't think I love the clock either. I'm thinking maybe just a square clock like the kind in every office and schoolroom in the world would be better...what do you think?
Thanks again for the icons, i have already made a few more and am loving it! this is my current homescreen
I would actually like to get a copy of your theme without a graphic at all for the apps tab if possible, obviously you dont have to go changing it just for me though but my homescreen would be perfect then. Also a clock that more resembled something you would see in an office would be good too.
also something you could do is for the app tab and the notification is use weapons, becuase we all know how much dwight loves to hide weapons around the office!!!
bump for the update - see first post for changes and for new download link!!!

10. Probably modified some more.
11. Modified Music/search widget - still working on it though.
To Do:

2. Fix Music Widget - sizing issues. I don't think it looks fine
3. Skin Power Control Widget (not themed yet)
4. Small edits to files once cyanogen releases a build that will be out for a while.
5. You tell me.
Please Report Bugs and Enjoy!
Fixed now ^_^
that means it was not signed not a hard fix
launcher looks ok with blue tint, but there is a problem with search widget, widget to small for search bar, it kinda sticks out, and none of the other widgets are themed in blue...i think if u work on this alot more it will be a good theme but untill then, im waiting on Ted to port to 4.0.2
TEDs Hero theme for 4.0.1 works fine on Cyanogen 4.0.2, been using it since Cyans release no problems at all.
I hope everyone enjoys' this theme.
Not that I really need a blue hero theme, but can you post a SS?
This is fully functional, should have pictures up in a jiffy.
you can try a transparent app menu but from what i have heard it is very bad on the eyes when opening and closing it.
K good looks, thanks.
i actually really like the way that this looks. the blue is subtle and looks great without sticking out. i love the way the notification bar looks, with the slight blue on the top of it. great job on this
Thank you david. It took me two nights of fiddling but it's finally usable. Maybe a few more modifications cause modifications are always awesome.
Nice job Jeff. One of my fsvorite colors. I'd love to try it out, but I'm on 3.9.11.2 and I refuse to change builds until Cyan comes up with a stable build with global search in it.

i need to give this a go once i get my newest theme working decently. did you do a full system change to the blue color?
Looks good so far man. I will probably test it out tonight and see how it works. I am currently in the process of creating a theme as well. I like the transparent goodies on themes. Can't hurt to try it and see how it looks. You can always change next update. I'm excited to see how this comes along. Keep it up

Theme: Ted's Hero
looks great! next time i'm on cyanogen, i'll probly use this!
love it
hey man,
Love the theme. any way to change the progress circle/bars and touch to a blue color, maybe cyanogen blue, instead of the green. I would try but I don't know how to edit .xml and 9.png files...

here are the progress circles and progress bars set to the blue color of the cyan android from the cyanogenized wallpaper. just drop them into framework-res.apk/res/drawable/ and sign the file and you are set

1% Battery mod + few icon changes (more colors)

Hi, I was never a big fan of all-blue themes, so I started to modify SystemUI.apk, basically I took this original mod and started replacing some icons to my liking.
As you can see I only replaced alarm icon and battery icons so far, but I think I will replace wifi and the other signal icons too. Also trying to find a better vibrate mode icon. I might throw in a better bluetooth icon too.
Update: I have now replaced vibrate, bluetooth, airplane and silent mode icons, as well as status bar.
Also, I didn't like the standard grey Gmail notification icon, so replaced it.
For this, you simply need to push modified Gmail.apk to System/App folder, then restart phone, do not try to install. It is version 4.0.1-228551. An update from Market will of course replace this and grey icon will be back.

Attached is the ZIP file. It should be flashed with CWM Recovery. I'm not responsible for any damage, so please do a backup first
I have tested this only on THIS 06 Dec Ir5: MCR ROM.
galaxynexusITL41F_BatteryMod.zip - this is original UI (legacy menu button on the right hand side when needed)
ITL41F_BatteryModUIPatches.zip - includes search and menu buttons on both sides add on by paulobrien.
Icons I have used:
EDIT:
Because of the Market promotion, I buy and install a lot of apps these days and didn't like that grey icon either.
Made one myself, so it's not the greatest, but I'll share anyway. If you have a better one, please share and I will replace if it's nice.
You need to move the attached Market app into /System/App folder and restart phone.
Very nice,please add file.
It's uploaded now. I have flashed this myself and so far all is good.
Working great on Android Revolution 1.3.1.
Thank you very much!
Very nice keep up the good work I much prefer the colourful icons than stock ones.
If possible can you make an alternate version which includes pauls search and both sides menu buttons like you did in your other thread as you already know that by installing this mod takes them back to the stock soft buttons (and I dont like them lol) .
Mark.
It's now uploaded, please give it a try, but maybe keep the old one on the phone just in case, if something goes wrong you would simply flash the old one back.
I didn't try this one because I don't like the search button nor options on both sides
I tried to modify your apk to include a circle battery icons. I decompile it, replace pngs and recompile then adb push the systemui.apk. When I restart shell, i have no Systemui at all (no soft keys or notification bar)...am I missing something here?

I have no idea unfortunately. I took these icons from my collection of custom ROMs which I've been using on my previous phones. I usually take the icons I like and build a theme for myself.
Now messing with status bar... took this from one of the themes I used to use on my SGS2. Add this in for download or not?
Can you please state which mod has the search and menu buttons add on and which one has the original layout?
These types of mods are the icing on the ICS! Great work!

Thanks mate. And hell yes, would like that status bar add on but do you have it in blue? Not to be fussy

Found the blue one It's attached. But I won't be keeping this many versions, too many files to update, I will stick to red one I'm trying to get away from all-blue, after all. For me, bluetooth icons are the only ones that meant to be blue
Looks SO good! I want it "I have tested this only on THIS 06 Dec Ir5: MCR ROM." - is this official GN Google factory ROM ?

No, you can click on THIS link in my first post and it will link to the modified ROM page. I don't think it would work on stock ROM, I think you need deodexed ROM, but again, I can be wrong.
I didn't like the standard grey Gmail notification icon, so replaced it with this one:
I can post modified Gmail.apk if someone is interested. Will also add the icon to the list on first post.
Always interested in a bit of colour, like yourself I also don't like the grey icons.
If you post up the apk in the 1st post is it just a case of flashing it over the battery / blue status bar without affecting them?
Also, KUDOS on the blue status bar! Looks awesome! I can see my phone being full of your add ons!
Added modified Gmail.apk and instructions.
