Cheers, mate. This thing is handy-dandy. Thanks for updating.
Thanks rmk and pfak!
If you remember me complaining about garbled calls, I started reflashing my radio and using this patch everytime I would flash a new rom, and I haven't had one garbled call since.
Maybe it's a coincidence, but I'm pretty happy and think that this has helped my issue.
Btw, I have been using the 03.02.18 radio since I believe it was from a Bell Canada release (my carrier).
Thanks!

Thank you for this great tool! it does make it so much easier to test. and previously I did notice an improvement when matching the ril files, although right now I am testing without matching.
but my question is why does no one talk about matching the files "libganril.so " and "librilswitch.so"?
is it known that they are the same? or have they been overlooked? I believe that they are part of the rildeamon.
does anyone have any information on these libraries?
Thanks again for your hard work!

Im def. seeing and improvement on my download speed from doing this. I have never gotten 3 meg due to the building im in and now i get it every time.
Thanks
I experienced the importance of the relationship between Radio & Ril with Windows HTC devices. I'm no dev but I've had my suspicion from going thru the threads and reading what people were experiencing flashing the same Roms and Radios.
I'm glad the Devs figured it out.
Once I saw the thread, I installed the patch and let it do its thing because I new I had a mis-match but issues weren't bad enough to try and fix & in the process...break something I couldn't fix.
I'm still a noob with Android & the G2 is my 1st Android device. I started with the HD2 w/Android but that don't count.
With all these words, just trying to say thanks.....
Install the patch people, it works

Not sure if it's just me, but I applied the update for radio 26.08.04.16_M and started losing 1-2% battery per MINUTE. Flashed Ultimatedroid 3.2.0 again and I'm back to about 3-4% battery per HOUR

This is exactly why I state that the matcher is not to be used on aosp roms. UD is an aosp rom. Please read the details before reporting issues, as this was erroneous, being that you saw completely expected behavior.

My apologies. I wasn't sure if mine was an AOSP rom (I tend not to know a lot of things). At least I know now!

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? loool. MAX I get is like 20 hours on a full battery. Do you not use your phone at all??
RMK: I installed this with your slightly modified leaked Sense 2.3.3 test ROM, so far working perfectly. I am using a NAM Bell Desire Z on Rogers network. Radio version: 26.03.02.26_M. Will post if I observe any problems. Thanks.
I ran this auto patcher on my CM7 before I saw people saying not recommended for Cyanogen lol. What is the best way to "undo" that? Put a different radio on? or what about different radio, auto match, then go back to this radio? My data speeds are insanely bad, 9kbps up, 6kbps down. Unclear on if this is related... but I just wanna do what I can to fix it.

Just re-flash CM7 on top of your existing install. You may also need to re-flash the gapps package after doing so.
Ahh, so I've had it fixed for a while now lol. Thanks. Wasn't sure if it was something on a deeper level than the rom's like the radio itself

A quick question on this:
This tools needs a Sense ROM to work, but does this also work on GB Sense ROMs? Or will this have no/negative effect?
lol ok im back already people, here again for those of you that didnt see my first post i have a MyTouch 3GS w/ gapps and CM7 installed, along with apps2sd AND data2ext. now i downloaded the NFS shift apk before i rooted my device, and it ran fine on 2.2 froyo (the official one), and even after i rooted and used 3rd sense rom, it worked, BUT wen i got to CM 7.0.0 and CM 7.0.3 , it will load the "NFS Shift" boot screen, go black, then exit back to the screen i was on before i ran the game (typically the home screen) so does anyone hav a solution to this problem. let me add that i downloaded CPU tuner from the market, if i increase the amount of Mhz it uses to increase performance, will this allow the games to run!? please someone help me
p.s. i tried it on a modified NOVA apk and the same thing happened
Thanks in advance!!!
I believe it's because the app isn't supported on 2.3 yet, or at least not CM7. Not much you can do about that. If you want, you can flash a froyo rom, you should be able to run it on that.
Try moving the app to SD card, in case you haven't yet and see if it works that way.

Supernova is a fantastic rom and with the recent 2.4 version, there hasn't been any freezes or reboots! swiping the screens and rearranging it (used to lag badly) and using it daily has really been a breeze without any major lags.
However I realise that there is a slight lag whenever I turn on the wifi and use the web/market. It seems to me that there is a glitch with wifi usage. Comparing the Desire to LG optimus one, it seems that the Desire is much slower than LG while opening the market, browsing the web etc.
Is there a way to solve the problem? like a kernel that I should install over? I am sure the Desire is capable of much better performance!
Thanks in advance!
does anyone know of a possible solution?
Already checked supernova thread for such a problem?
checked, but there wasnt really an answer.. what I tried was flashing a new kernel but it caused the Desire to lag even more.. I've reflashed the rom, now the only lag is when wifi is turned on, internet, market, whatsapp etc. these applications will start to lag.. especially web browsing.
If anyone knows of a possible solution, do point me in the right direction, thanks!
I have the same lag issue with the market mainly. Lately dolphin hd has also been a bit slow but I couldn't call it a general WiFi problem. Maybe an other version of android market would be better?

From my experience with Supernova, you must have good sd card for smooth running this ROM.
I had much lags with class 4 sd card. With class 6 sd card it was much better but still not smooth as I wanted to be. It is excellent ROM but had no luck with it.
I'll stick to AOSP roms

Have you tried installing another version? There was only the either the new or old market provided for flashing. I'm using the older version (which should be faster) but sadly no luck with it. It lags worse than a lower-spec LG phone.
With the default web browser I guess the lag became obvious after a period of usage. When I compared the loading time, the Desire simply took ages to finish loading.

I changed to a class 4 sandisk for the ROM. It is a fantastic ROM I guess and I would prefer the HTC sense. However, seeing how smooth other phones are, I guess I need to get a ROM that runs smoothly and yet gives unlimited storage.
Do you have any recommended ROM out there? Either that or I'm hoping there will be a new updated supernova which can make Desire perfect
I still keep my attention on further development of Supernova.
Well I can recommend you my current ROM, Redux 2. It is fast and stable. In combination with dalvik2sd script it gives you decent ammount of internal memory.
I have 101 app installed and still 30mb of free memory. I am satisfied.

Very similar problem of yours, I can connect to my WiFi, however, it frequently disconnects and change to my mobile network... Didn't happen before when I was using the official Rom... I am now using the latest 2.4.0.1version, I thought the WiFi issue should have been fixed in this version??? Need help~ this is the only problem of this fantastic Rom!!!!
Hi
first of all great work on the XDA forum and maintaining the website!
Second, great work on all developers for creating and maintaining roms and also replying to users!
Im a steady user of the ILWT CM7 rom on my Desire Z.
But in every version i ever used im still experiencing one issue.
When in a call or when someone hangs up a call my screen stays black.
I can try the power button or de trackball wake but my screen stays black.
The only way to get my screen back(most of the time) is to slide out my keyboard.
Is this a known issue and if so, how could this be fixed?
Since im a new user who registered to this forum im unable to post in the devolopers section.
Any help would be appriciated.
One side note, excuse my bad english(if applicable) im a dutch user.
Thanks for the help!

I've also had issues with the ILWT CM7 rom.
However chec if you've wiped data and dalvik cache (both) before flashing.
Yes i always whipe en clear cache and also format and repartion all partions. I whipe and clear multiple times before reinstall. Just now installed g2 light version and here it also seems an issue. Any ideas?

If you're overclocking what's your minimum clock speed in something like setcpu?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
I use the default values. Ilwt rom has it 365 mhz range. G2 light doesn't have overclock as default. So at the moment im not overclocking.
Also on a ics rom it has the same issue.
Hi guys,
I have question regarding my HTC Desire Z .. Ever since I rooted the phone about 1.5 years ago, and have been trying out the newer ROMs, I've slowly realized that my phone is getting slower, slower, and slower .. I'm currently using a Jellybean ROM, and its *extremely* slow ! I mean, at times I receive a call, and the ringer rings about 5-6 times, and during all this time, the phone doesn't have the juice to switch to the phone app, so that I can 'accept' the call ! Ultimately the call disconnects itself!
A friend recently suggested to me that maybe the newer ROMs are two powerful for my phone, and that I need to move to an older Android version ROM, which my Desire Z CAN handle, without this much lag !
Also, I hardly have any apps installed on my phone at all, in an attempt to keep the load low .. I also use 'Advance Task Killer' regularly to kill background apps, but it doesn't really improve anything ..
What can I do to improve the speed of my phone !? I really pisses me off to see a 10-15 second lag when I call someone !
Get rid of the task killer first of all...

I dont think it will make any difference .. I've tried many different ROMs, and its always the same condition with all ... Sometimes my phone become *so* unresponsive that I just feel like smashing it on the ground ! (When I really get upset!)
Also, on another note, when I open Advanced Task Killer, it shows me the amount of free RAM on the top .. Most of the times this value is between 60 MB ~ 100 MB, and sometimes between 100 MB ~ 140 MB .. If never seen this value go above 135 MB or so ... And Desire Z is supposed to have 512 MB of RAM
just full wipe and reflash the rom
d_gkal said:

If I do that, it will initially be fast .. Even if I install all my apps on the first day, it will still be okay in terms of speed ... But give it a week, it eventually becomes slow .. very slow! .. And the odd thing is, during this week, I don't necessary install/uninstall anything .. the phone just ****s itself in somehow ... And then from then on, it remains slow, no matter what ...
I open Google Maps, takes like 15 seconds to open .. takes another 60 seconds to go to Google Navigation, and then further lags after that ..
Basically there's a lag in *everything* !
Is there a way I can see what is slowing down the phone ?!
Also, is it true or not whether an older phone, such as Desire Z, can or cannot handle a relatively newer Android version ROM ? Maybe this is why the latest Android versions are NOT officially available for phones many times, because the manufacturer knows the device cannot handle that newer Android version ?
If your rom supports ext partitions, make sure all of yours are formatted that way. Chances are you have sopme bad apps, a logcat may hedlp determin abused wake locks or memory leaks. Also you can try downloading battery batt stats or watchdog for more infor

i had a play with elitemod ics the other day & it was defiantly slower than the GB version... it was using more or less double the ram which i suspect is the real problem.....
Yes its true the newer versions are more hungry. We touched on it in one of the andromadus threads recently. I believe the issue to be the cpu. The nexus s has the same amount of ram as us and although its not as good on there as the gnex, its still good. Having bumped my lower cpu limit a notch, its much better. I also tried a few upper limits and found that 1200 to be best as it suffers with animation under that.
But then all dz's are different. Stay on your rom and bump up the lower limits a few clicks and let us know what you think.

I've noticed the slowdowns happening with negligible CPU load and no memory constraints. I suspect a problem with the kernel. At the times it happens, the phone seems to be just doing *nothing*.

Is there any other thing I can try apart from logcat ? I installed Watchdog a few hours ago, but so far it hasn't reported anything out of the way ..
What does have ext partitions do ? How does that speed up the OS ?
Also, I'm probably going to be re-flashing another ROM soon, so please suggest me a ROM ... I'm looking for maximum longterm stability and responsiveness here, so even if a ROM isn't the newest or the most feature-filled, I can still try it out ..
And what is Superwipe (read it in another thread) ?
Normally, when I restore stuff after installing a ROM, I download a fresh copy of the app from the Store, and only restore the app's data using titanium .. is this okay ?
For the sake of starting fresh, flash the ext 4 recovery and flash mimicry as your rom. Read all suggestions in the first few post on mimicry, to flash 4ext I made a thread, you'll find it the first page or so in the general section (dzhboot or something)
Mimicry is one of the best made best performing full featured ics roms for our phones, partitioning everything to 4ext (easily done through recovery) will make it far better. Other bonus tweaks will be added in.
There (in my opinion) are beter performing gingerbread roms, but I do sugest mimicry as it is amazing and the dev has laid out a wealth of knowledge in the first few posts

I'm assuming you're referring to this thread: http://www.forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714187
Well this is the ROM I'm currently using, which I flashed about 2 months ago, which is giving me all these performance issues ..
I went through the first few pages, but I didn't find any instructions on 4EXT ... The only thing I found was in the OP's FAQ in the start, which said that you should apply ext by downloading 4ext from Play Store, if you get lags ..
Anywhere else I can look ?
Look in general section, somewhere in the first page I posted a thread called dzhboot on g2 or something to that extent, one of the first few posts I eplain how to flash 4ext recovery.
One of the fastest roms I have used is elitemod cm7, maybe try that

I have been wondering the same as the OP. I have been using andromadus and andromadus mimicry roms for the past few month. I tired cm9 unofficial but it was no different to mimicry in terms of lag. Currently on flinny's jb beta http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005136. Lag is not terrible but too often I am looking at a white screen waiting for something to happen.
I often experience lags opening apps like phone and browser (any browser). Phone hanging when trying to make a call is particularly annoying because my wife asks "why is your phone so ****?"
I would love to have a really smooth experience like others report but even with a fresh wipe I seem to have trouble. When I try to reduce the process limit i still seem to have too many processes running. What should i look for in logcat in terms of tracking down the problem?
Maybe 4ext will sort it out? I am very loathe to go back to a cm7 rom.
Ext4 worked really well for me to speed up my phone.. I highly recommend it.

It's gotta be a certain app your installing thats hogging all your memory, I been running mimicry ever since blk released it n have had very few slowdowns.
Never had a problem receiving/making calls 'wiping' is not the same as 'superwiping' its different then just the name, I suggest you do some reading up before flashing any more roms.

i superwipe, and i've been flashing roms since the g1. I am not seeing any particular process hogging resources. this current jb beta is pretty good but still get some lagging at random.
if that were the case I would love to try and find out what it is.
it seems to me that a minority of users report lags in rom threads and are dismissed without ever really getting to the root of the problem.
I would really like to try and get to the bottom of it. I am going to move to ext4 but if there are other troubleshooting steps to take I am all ears.
Ext4 alone will make a huge difference, and most of the rest of the slow downs will be do to apps/running services which can be seen with a logcat what is continually trying to use cpu resources
If only a minority report slowdowns then either that minority has a different idea of how the phone should run/ they use the phone in a completley different way/ or have different settings and apps then most have.
