Hey guys,
I'm in Australia, using 3 network.I have a HTC Desire HD which is currently running Android 2.2. 2 nights ago, I got a notification for the Gingerbread update, downloaded it and hit install now. The phone rebooted to a screen with a triangle with an exclamation mark in it, and the droid guy. I waited for about 10 minutes, the same screen was there, then I fell asleep. I saw the screen the same way I left it before I slept, took the battery out so i can at least use it. And this whole day, I've been trying to update it, but still no luck. I did a factory reset, downloaded the update several times and tried installing it, it still gave me the same screen. I tried unrooting my phone, then tried it again same thing happened. I did most of the things I could find on the net, but still didn't work... I called 3 (three) AU network about it, they told me to go to a store but I wanted to know if anyone could help me before I go to the store and wait there the whole day for nothing, and I have rooted my phone, so they won't be doing anything, rather than doing my head in along with my parents.
I'm with 3 AU, had the phone for 2 months, rooted with S-Off.
Please Help!!!
You could maybe try to use a RUU update. It will probably work, but you will be on factory status after it.

I have tried that at least 3-4 times before but didn't work, now I tried it again after using this guide, and it worked. Thank you for reminding me about this again and thank you xda.
I had the same problem as you after download OTA and select install, DHD reboot and nothing more happens.
Download Ace_Gingerbread 2.36.405.8 RUU file here http://www.multiupload.com/DCU61Q12V2 and install from PC as works fine.
Then ust GingerBreak APK 1.20 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 to root and get su back

This is really my first time posting unfortunately, but here's what happened.
I have an Incredible that I purchased back when they were only available for preorder. I've had it rooted with 2.2 running Virtuous rom and king kernel since they basically were released. Everything has been running great. Today I woke up though and unplugged the phone from the charger and the phone rebooted itself. I thought, ok it does this every so often so I didn't think anything of it. Ten minutes later it's still stuck at the HTC INCREDIBLE white screen and hasn't moved from there. I can boot into hboot, but no clockwork recovery. When trying to boot into recovery it just goes to the white start screen as well.
I tried clearing user data from hboot and I tried updating the radio, and nothing seems to do it. I'm stumped. Is there any way to recover a phone that's stuck on this screen? I've got a replacement coming, but for future reference I would love to know how to fix it, if at all possible.
Any ideas?
So in reading your post, I gathered this information- You were running a 2.2 Virtuous rom on a radio baseband of 1.x? Is that right?
Did you try getting a complete stock RUU file and installing it via HBOOT?
Sounds like your partitions are screwed up. There is another thread about this in the Q&A.
I would greatly appreciate any help!
Two days ago my phone was having problems updating themes. I was rooted with
Clockwork 2.5.05 for the longest time but when the update for 2.5.1 was pushed I didn't think twice and I updated. Now I couldn't restore or flash because recovery would hang at MD5 Sums. After two days of nonstop attempts and fails I decided I would just backup everything on my computer and unroot, then reroot fresh.
So I unrooted my phone and thought everything would be fine. Nope, my phone was reset back to 2.1update1. Now Unrevoked wasn't working when I tried to root.
Now I found this page
http://androidforums.com/incredible...root-your-incredible-whatever-its-status.html
and followed and did step 2. That installed succesfully, but now I couldn't find a working to the May update. Luckily I found a link on the forums here and was able to install.
This may be where I went wrong but I accidentally flashed step 5 before step 4. But either way both step 4 and 5 installed without a hitch.
Now step 6 wouldn't work. It would error out at Update 7 or something along those lines.
Now I'm stuck with a phone with the Unrevoked splash screen(I like it, I just can't take it in to a verizon store and get a new phone under warranty because clearly I was messing with it), I think 2.2, and I can't put it into USB mode though my computer recognizes it under Device Manager. It hangs whenever I try to pull down the status bar.
On top of that I can't access any wireless network, both wifi and verizons, and
i can't get passed the activation screen because of that.
Reseting from the bootloader doesn't fix it, factory reseting from recovery doesn't fix it(Verizons built in recovery, step 5 uninstalled clockwork).
I am very lost
I think I unwillingly traded one of my nine lives to the devil.
My phone, has been fixed.
By a complete blunder, or at least I think so, my phone has been corrected.
I got tired of the constant reboots and "System crashes" that would ail me before I even got to the Phone Activation screen I thought I would try and activate it even though I had a X where the reception bars are.
To my absolute astonishment after a minute or two pause my phone is dialed through and begins the *228 update!(Later today at work my friend suggested that the 228 number works like an emergency number and dials on whatever network is available.)
My phone reboots and I have access to the home screen! I still can't pull down the status bar and have X bars but this is better than nothing! Feeling headstrong I open up Revoked and try rooting
It works!...sort of
It goes through the full process and when I get to the home screen I'm on a stock 2.2 device! Oddly no root however
I boot to clockwork and install su-2.3.4-ef and payload-update.
And now it works somehow! S-on is back as well. I just got back from work and have successfully rooted! I really hope this is a Karma cash in
Hi,
Got a notification on my Desire HD (unlocked/unbranded) stating a new update is available. I Downloaded the ~44 MB update, clicked ok to update,
This is what happens:
System Shutdown
Sestarts
HTC green logo comes on..
Android icon with box and arrow appears.. the progress indicator goes upto about 25%,
then : the box changes to a triangle with an exclamation mark...
and then nothing happens..at one attempt for upto 3 hours..
I have to pull the battery out...restart..
I've tried this many times to no joy.
Had Visionary with perm root installed, unistalled it, factory reset the phone, went into recovery mode and deleted dalvik cache... still no joy.
I did, moons ago, used Titanium backup to remove (not freeze) some apps I knew I'd never use... could that be causing the problem?.
Is it possible to revert to a stock rom from HTC... how?..
If not, is there a way to install this upgrade?. I'm not too fussed about Rooting... can wait till someone figures it out for this upgrade..
Thanks.
Riz
Seems like the PermRoot breaks the update.
There are countless other threads saying basically the same.
Installed Visionary+, Rooted, Removed HTC apps, OTA Update doesn't work.

Click to collapse
You could try installing via bootloader, but your DHD would return to factory settings.
Download This ROM. Rename it to PD98IMG.zip and place on your SD Card.
Turn off your DHD (Disable FastBoot) and power on holding VOL DOWN.
Your DHD will then apply the update itself. With the new update you will not be able to root, HTC have fixed the exploit Visionary+ used. A new method to root will have to be found.
Thanks Andy.
I downloaded the stock firmware from : xdafil_es/DesireHD/RUU/RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe
replace _ after xdafil with a .
Connected the phone to my laptop, dbl clicked on the exe, it flashed the phone back to this stockk firmware...
Phone re-booted re-virginized. the OTA worked then.
Ofcourse, Visionary, Titanium don't work anymore, but, guess its a matter of time!!!
Thank you
thank you for the help, worked here
thanks for the solution!
Hi all,
I was running CM7rc3 for quite a while and wanted to see what 2.3 was like with sense so I flashed back to my backup to stock and attempted to update, didn't work, tried the unroot process and stuff, still couldn't get it going, so I thought f it and tried to put CM7 back on. I turned S-OFF and what not, went into clockwork recovery, cleared the data/cache installed from zip.
It said installed and I rebooted, only to have the HTC logo come up and it hung there for 40 mins before I took the battery out and tried again... Still no luck.
So now I can't boot my phone and I have lost my original back up.
I have recently moved cities and really need my phone up asap.
What can I do?
all good, managed to find a stock rom online for my service provider and get it going again
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my Desire HD. I searched around this forum and others didn't really find me the information I'm looking for, so hopefully someone here can help me out.
Anyway, my phone downloaded the OTA Gingerbread update last night. After the download completed, it rebooted. Did the install and then showed me the red triangle with exclaimation mark. Did a battery pull after about 20 minutes of leaving it at the triangle screen, and now I get nothing but an HTC logo.
Now, I have not modified the phone at all in terms of rooting, turning it to S-OFF or anything like that. I used the base recovery to try and to a factory reset, format data/cache, and nothing works. I'm still just stuck at the white screen with HTC logo.
I know with the Galaxy S series, you can put the phone in download mode and use Odin to flash it. Is there anything similar I can do with this phone? Or any way to get another ROM to install, or even back to factory? Or something similar to Windows Phone where you use the RUU file?
I just got the phone from a friend and unlocked it, and really want to use it
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all!
Hi.
Why don`t you try to find a RUU file and reflash with it?
But before reflash, please find will this RUU can work into your mobile operator.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
