Ok, I'll try to keep this simple and informative.
I have been rooted with unrEVOked for months. Last night I flashed CyanogenMod 7 RC2. (I've posted this there too on their forums) Today my Evo crashed while using the app QR Droid, and now goes into a boot loop after the "htc EVO 4g" white screen. It loads that screen, then goes black, reboots and does this cycle until I pull the battery.
I can get into hboot. (v 2.10.001, Clockworkmod), S-OFF, updated radio last night when I actually could before I flashed CM7 RC2 to 2.15.00.11.19.
Here is where the problem deepens, and is very similar to this thread; Bricked Evo, and cant factory wipe. Help please
When I try to select Recovery, the boot-loop starts over; so i actually cant get into recovery and flash anything from the sd card it also does not give me any triangle bull**** or whatever, just starts the boot loop.
I have a card reader for my micro sd card; I took everything off of it and put an RUU on it, renamed it PC36IMG.zip, got into hboot, tried to update it and it failed, goes back to the boot loop. I believe the ruu was outdated.
Can someone link me to the most recent recovery image? I should use to get back to stock? I think that is my problem, the ruu is out of date.
Or any other input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I tried this recovery image to know effect, when i reboot after applying update it goes back into loop; CANT POST LINK YET!

I attatched a PC36IMG of Amon Ra recovery version 2.3. You can try flashing that from the bootloader. I will also provide a link to the most recent RUU's and PC36IMG's. This link actually has all of them, old and new. Hope you're able to recover the phone dude. Good luck.

thanks, I have clockworkmod from when i unrevoked and had it updated via the CM7 rom manger last night, does that matter?
I tried that img you attached, it did not work, Im not exactly sure how to use the RUU's could someone explain what else I should do?

should'nt make any difference at all. I'm not sure how your initial problem happened, but you are not the first I've seen this happen to. Most that I've seen were recent, and were running CM7. Not sure what's up with that, but if you search the q and a section, you'll find a few similar threads. Very strange. I hope you ge it working again.
Happened to me and a few others a week or 2 ago. There was no fix that we found. Pc36img wont work, ruu won't work. U won't be able to do anything to get s-off to s-on either (in my experience.) Even tho u can get to bootloader, if its like what happened to me and a few others, ur bricked. I got mine warranty replaced (but they're still gonna charge me $125 for returning an unrecoverable phone) another guy threw his out his car window and they charged him $100 to replace his "lost" phone. Those are the only options I know of.

Hey mates,
would be cool if you could help me to understand the connection between recovery and flashed rom...
This is why I'm asking: I rooted my desire a couple of weeks ago (by applying the unrevoked method). Since then I flashed a couple of custom roms. I wasnt very happy because the most roms caused my mobile phone to crash. I thought it was because a broken sd card therefore i bought a new one today. Sometimes when my phone crashed I wasnt even able to enter recovery anymore. And sometimes it did just nothing... I couldnt even enter hboot (it just didnt boot - like it was briked - only the charging led was on when i plugged the charger in). In this case I had to remove the battery a couple of times or plug in the charger. Usually I needed to do this many times. This is btw. why I'm fed up with custom roms but maybe its just my mistake. And now finally my question:
Why can I enter recovery sometimes and sometimes not? Does this depend on the rom? Why do I have to remove the battery etc. to make it run?
I know flashed back to the rom I of which I created a backup after root. But it seems that my phone is more unstable since then (even if its just my rooted stock rom)
Thank you for your answers...
What rom are you on? Maybe your recovery is a bit messed, have you tried reflashing it? Btw, s-on right?
If your not able to get to your hboot then there is something wrong with your phone. It will most likely be able to do with your hardware. You can use an ruu to restore everything back to factory default. You could then root again and see if that will help. But it does look like to be a hardware/corruption issue.
Swyped...
Your Desire maybe being one of the new PVT4 new nand would might cause this. I know that the latest version of unrevoked and Clockwork recovery can't be used to root the PVT4 new nand. I had that problem and the fix for me was to use an earlier version of unrevoked and flash Amon Ra recovery instead. There's a thread around the forums regarding this. Check first if your Desire is of the new PVT4 model. Can't post the link but there's a thread that explains how you can check if your Desire is PVT4 new nand. Would post the link but can't yet, but a quick search should take you to it.
hey guys, thank you very much for your fast answers. The desire is s-on. I'll try an official ruu. If I'm brave enough I'll root again . The strange thing is that I can enter recovery but not always. A hardware issue would be awful. I'll let you know how it went. I hope it is ok to just use ruu to update a rooted rom. It flashes a new recovey too, doesnt it?
Ok, i tried to use ruu to unroot my device. It told me that my bootloader was not compatible and canceled flashing. But it also broke my rom. I couldnt boot the system anymore and i couldnt boot into recovery. I dowloaded a ruu image (with my radio) to flash it via hboot. Everything seemed to go fine but after the first restart i'm stucking with an update sign (i guess its the recovery menu) - a mobile with green arrowrs. I think its frozen. Do i need to do anything else?
Hey, just to keep you up to date. I successfully unrooted my device by flashing a stock ruu. Now its booting (but not always) but it often freezes after a few minutes after the boot progress. I guess I'm going to send it back.
Thank you all for your help anyway.

Yeah best to send it back, it sounds more like a fault with the device
I have searched and I can't get this too boot up.
I installed a fresh RUU and it updated it successfully but it still keeps looping.
I can get into HBOOT but not into recovery.
I was rooted running Decks 2.3.4 ROM with the Godmode kernal.
Any help would be appreciated.

Was everything working properly before you tried to run the RUU, or were you already having looping problems? Perhaps try clearing storage from your bootloader menu, then try to boot up again. If that still fails, then I'd try running the RUU again.
Some more info would be great, such as the following:
what RUU version did you flash?
what is your current hboot version?
what is your current radio/baseband version?
That information will determine which RUU you need to run.
If your looping at the splash screen (HTC Evo 4G screen) and NOT the actual boot animation, then it sounds like it could be a problem with your bootloader, possibly.
It does sound like you'll need to try running the RUU again, or running a different RUU.
Thanks for your reply.
Everything was working fine before this happened. I took it off the charger and booted it up and it started to loop.
Hboot is 2.10 and I flashed the latest RUU available from HTC/Sprint

So everything was working good, then you decided you were going to unroot? Do you mind if I ask why (out of curiosity).
So basically, you decided to unroot it. You ran the RUU, it completed successfully, you unplugged from your USB cable, turned it on, and the result was looping at the splash. Is that accurate? If so, I would try running the RUU again.
I'd probably even download a new copy of the RUU, just to be sure you don't have a bad download. Then try running it again and see if that makes any difference for you. I'll attatch a link to the RUU i keep in my dropbox.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16599118/RU...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe
EDIT: I forgot to mention, that in order for you to run the RUU now, you'll most likely need to be in fastboot mode. So, boot to the bootloader, and select 'fastboot usb' from the menu. Once your in fastboot usb mode, try running the RUU. It should detect the phone and run just fine.
I wasn't trying to unroot. I flashed the ruu to see if I could get my phone working again after I saw it was looping the splash screen. I did the fastboot usb the ruu found the phone and flashed the new software and still loops.
Same thing is happening to me. I was on Deck's ROM except I wasn't trying to unroot. I put it on the charge then I noticed the White HTC Splash screen was on and off.
Now it won't get past it. I can get into the loader but not recovery.

Damn man, I'm sorry to hear that. The RUU is pretty much a last resort of restoring your phone back to stock when things go wrong. Since that is failing, there isn't too much else you can do. You can try running a different RUU, but I would most likely expect the same results you've been getting. There was a bunch of people with this same problem a month or two back, and there was never a fix found for it. The name of the thread was "boot looping and no recovery access" or something like that. Author of the thread was something like westibone. I'll see if I can dig it up for you, so you can read through that. There were a ton of suggestions in there. Good luck.
I have posted a question about this a wile backwhen it was a white loading screen and someone told me to download the P----.ZIP file and I did and fixed my problem.
Now, this problem has reoccurred and I want to know how to get rid of it.
My HTC Droid Incredible was rooted and when the battery dies, and I charge it, and then start the phone up again, it just loads the screen again (using SKYRAIDER) and it doesn't go past that. I have once again, wiped the phone, installed the P-----.ZIP file(forgot the exact name), and then te phone worked. Once I rooted the phone again use revoked and installed the sky raider theme again, it just loads the loading screen. This always happens whenever my phone dies. Help?
we sort of need more info to work with here.

yep, same, like did you use rom manager, did you do a nandroid backup, what kernal did you flash? did you try to flash a radio?
is said rom made for your phone?
Sorry if my details wasn't enough. Before my phone had died, it had the latest 4.2 Sky raider Rom installed. When the phone had died, this is what I did. I went into the clockwork recovery and wiped the phone completely, then I installed that PB31IMG.zip file to get the phone to unroot it. When that was finished, the phone was fine, everything bak to the way as it was manufactured, not rooted. Then I rooted it with unrevoked and went into recovery and installed the skyraider rom from a zip. Once that was finished, the phone would load up the loading screen and just continue it.. if there's anymore information you need, let me know. Thanks.

most roms should already be rooted, that may be what you did wrong
my suggestion, go back to stock, if you made a backup, then use the unrevoked method. then go into recovery, wipe it, reset, that good stuff, then install zip from sd card, then leave it be.
all you pretty much said in that post, sorry if i mis-read it, was that you instaled skyraider after you went to stock, did you load it via rom manager or booted it manually with clockwork mod? and is your phone SLCD or AMOLED. if it is AMOLED you eed to use cwm 3.0.0.7 if SLCD, then use 3.0.0.8
@Kiboe - that is exactly what I did until I got the loading screen. How do I check if my phone is SLCD or AMOLED? How to check it with my problem?
@cvbcbcmv - I installed Skyraider through the CWM, installed it using .zip.

under your phone battery, there should be a SKU number, if the number ends in "VW3" then it's SLCD
if it ends in "VW2" then it's AMOLED
so, AMOLED would be "ADR6300VW2"
and SLCD would be "ADR6300VW3"
I'm only seeing ADR6300VW, not 2 or 3.

It may be AMOLED then, mine is just ADR6300VW. My guess is an SLCD would be ADR6300VW2.
And in a sense ROM hardware version is 002 for AMOLED and 003 for SLCD, if you're on an Incredible ROM anyway, a lot of the Gingersense ROMS based on other phones report my AMOLED as 003. It is not, as I got it on Launch day, and it was manufactured April 2, 2010.
Currently having this problem as well...
I've tried flashing a couple of ROMs--specifically, Synergy RLS1 and Optimized Shift 2.4.1. I tried both the original download and the mirror download for Synergy. I'm flashing through ROM Manager 4.3.0.1 and wiping data, cache, and dalvik. Each time, the ROM will seem to install in CWM, but will be stuck at the white HTC Incredible screen when trying to boot. I know it may stay there for a while when flashing new ROMs, but it will sit there for over five minutes, at which point I just take out the battery and try again. I still get stuck at the same screen, so I just go into recovery and restore my last backup, which works. So I'm not bricked; I can return to a backup, but can't flash a new ROM. What should I try? I've flashed plenty of times before successfully, always the same way, never had this problem unless the download was corrupted.
I'd recommend not using rom manager. Try manually flashing in recovery and see if that doesn't help. I'm also assuming you're on the .92 hboot and 3.x.x.x recovery?

Worked--thanks! Odd I'd never had a problem with ROM Manager until now.
Hey Everyone,
My friend has an Incredible that was running the latest weekly of MIUI that will no longer boot.
He was using it and it gave an error about low storage memory or something to that effect. He decided to try rebooting the phone to fix it.
After that the phone will no longer boot up, it freezes on the white HTC Incredible screen. However he is able to boot into recovery.
He has tried a factory reset through recovery, reflashing MIUI from his card, booting without the sd card, pretty much everything I could think of, and still stuck at that screen.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried flashing a different rom other than miui? If so and it still didnt work then i would try getting the stock froyo ruu and flashing that. Note that flashing the ruu will unroot the device so make sure you have s-off before flashing so you can easily get back to being rooted.
Yeah, I just tried having him flash a sense based rom and after that he was able to get to the droid eye screen, but it still freezes there.
Could you give me a link to the Incredible ruu? I could barely find it for the Evo last time I needed it.
Check out dougpiston.com. He's got it.

There is a flashable PB31IMG.zip ruu and a windows exe ruu. I would try flashable first and if that dosent work then use your pc and try doing it that way.
