I can't find any on amazon that prove to have data transfer or hosting capabilities.

I recommend one of these types:
http://www.meritline.com/micro-usb-type-b-male-to-usb-a-female-cable-black---p-62877.aspx
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250817547531#ht_4462wt_905
But the less ideal ones, that may put physical stress on your usb port because they are bulky and heavy, are also available:
http://www.priceangels.com/Micro_USB_On-The-Go_Host_OTG_Adapter_Pair__p17467.html
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023FTRUO
*Edit
Don't buy this one from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/USB-Micro-Adapter-Converts-Devices/dp/B0027YYMU6
As it does not have OTG compatibility, i.e. your Xoom will not be host while using it. The others above all have OTG compatibility.
I've orderd the ebay one.
Hope this information was useful.
Cheers
I ordered this cable, I think it is compatible
what do you think?

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.
If this is the same cable as the one you bought:
http://lunashops.com/goods.php?id=1434
Then I don't think it will fit in the Xoom.
That one has a Micro USB A male, and I think the Xoom can only take a Micro B.
For Products that are compatible with OTG, they are supposed to have an AB type port that allows the A cable to attach for OTG and the B for Slave. But it seems that OTG was an after thought for Motorola and thus the Xoom only has a B-type port, so you have to get an unconventional Micro-B to USB A type for it. Hence why they are so hard to find.
Here is what the different connectors look like, from wikipedia:
And this is the port for the Xoom:
The cables I linked to above all look like they have Micro USB B males.
I ordered this one http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290540648726
Is it compatible, too?
correct me if im wrong, but has anyone found a usb otg cable that will actually work with the xoom. I dont mean cables that were made up. I mean a cable from an actual website or store that works out the box? I see people recommend the ebay one, but does anyone actually have it? Im looking all over the internet for a confirmation on something that works.

This one looks like it should fit, but I'm not sure if it is made for OTG or not. Suppose there is no way to know until you get it.
Timrock, I have ordered the eBay one I posted earlier, I can let you know in a week or two. But it looked right, said it was for OTG and was really cheap, so I'm not to worried if it doesn't work. Will make my own if it doesn't.
But ya, otherwise we can wait to see which ones the other guys used.
Maybe check in the dev section where they released the kernel that allowed USB host, maybe someone there will confirm which ones worked.
Cheers

I found another thread where a guy had a Micro USB A cable like the one you ordered and he just filed his down to fit it in.
Here is his post on another thread

Well, the iGo is no good, because they probably don't have the data lines connected, as it's for charging.
The one in your next post on eBay won't fit if it's an CA-157 substitute, I got hte real Nokia CA-157 and the connector is squared off at the end, picture: HERE
however, I did get a file to the end of my CA-157 and filed it to fit, and YES it works (taking a picture now)..... attached.

Well I just ordered the $2.99 one from Meritline.com. They say it ships from the warehouse in China and should take 2-3 weeks. But hey shipping was free and they accept Paypal, so I didn't have to give them my credit card...
We'll see.
The cable to go seems this one!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UAG6WC/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A2WCWU062KR80P
The official from Motorola
I ordered mine for $4 (free shiping) from china sometime last week, it has not arrived yet lol, but I'm far away anyhow, I couldn't wait and used a micro usb cable I had laying around and a femme USB port and got myself a "free" OTG, and somewhat aesthetically pleasant to the eye.
Can someone recommend where to buy the proper cable for connection to the Xoom so that one can connect USB devices? I've bought two so far, and the first one was the right connection to the Xoom, but didn't have a tight enough contact point. The second one did not supply enough power to the device.
TIA
This cable works great. Mine came yesterday.

I can't say which one to get, but I can say: do not go with the ones at meritline.com. They say OTG, but they're just charging cables. (followed someone's advice from another thread and now I'm waiting for one to ship from ebay)...
If you want it fast, and don't mind the price, you won't go wrong with the original Motorola cable: http://www.store.motorola.com/Camer...olor_map,price,size_name&searchRank=salesrank
+1 Using the Motorola cable with no issues. It's expensive but the convenience of knowing it'll work and shipped fast was worth it to me.

Also got this cable. I was quoted 2-4 weeks for shipping, but it only took 8 business days (10 calendar days). The guy even took a picture of the package when he shipped, kinda funny. The cable works perfectly.

Unfortunately, I can also confirm the meritline ones do not work... guess I'm going after the Moto one.
Just got the motorola branded OTG cable at best buy for 20 bux. I know there are cheaper alternatives but those reviews are so hit or miss.

Has anyone in the UK found somewhere to buy the USB adapter? I've had a good search but can't find anything, and there doesn't seem to be one listed on the UK Samsung site.
What about kirfs from china? I've seen one for 4 quid on ebay and it says it will work...
Edit
It's gone now ;/

Anyone else?
http://www.expansys.com/samsung-con...-10-1-30-pin-to-usb-30-pin-to-sd-slot-219891/
Thank you - ordered one and it says it will be in stock in 2 days. Will report back and let you know when it turns up.
just in case http://www.clove.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-tab-101-usb-connection-kit
Wow, that's half the price of expansys. Neither have it in stock at the moment - expansys lead time has gone up to 4 days :-(
It is $19.99 in the US which is about £12.50 so expansys are taking the mickey.
Yes they are a bit - we normally pay the dollar amount in pounds which is enough of an insult, expansys are really rubbing it in.
On the plus side - just got a dispatch notice from them so at least it seems like I will get it this week
I checked expansys tonight the dufference being clove is just the usb adaptor where as expanys is both a usb and a sdcard one just ordered myself one

Good spot! Happy again now
Ordered from Expansys
And arrived - top marks for expansys!
Can i use my SdCards with this adapter ?
i don´t see any holes for these
Yes - there are 2 separate adapters, one for USB and one for full size SD cards. The expansys link above is for a kit that provides both adapters. The clove link is to the USB adapter only.

Sorry for the weird request but can you take a picture with the adapter in the tab 10.1. I would like to see a size comparison.

Most of you who want one have probably already picked one up, but if you still need one and don't want to wait a couple weeks for one from China, I found this listing on eBay for a nice angled adapter within the US for $8.95.
I actually already had a regular straight adapter, but it sticks way out and has a nasty habit of getting in the way or jabbing me in the stomach when I have it connected. The angled adapter runs along the side of the tablet and makes it much nicer to use. I ordered this one Thursday afternoon and it already arrived this morning!
I thought I'd point this out in case anyone wants to get one without having to wait. I ordered my first cable from China, but when I decided to replace that with an angled cable I decided an extra couple bucks was worth a two day rather than two week ship time.
Update: The price of the cable on that listing actually went down, so it's now just $6.95!
Thanks for the info. I ordered mine today.
Yeah, me, too. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm just glad to hear I was finally able to be helpful on this forum. I usually just lurk around the development sections for my various devices, but I don't know enough to contribute very much.
I was really glad to find this listing as I've had a few too many bad experiences with items shipped from Hong Kong either not arriving or taking way too long. Most of the sites or eBay listings that have OTG cables within the US are way too expensive and don't have these nice short, angled cables that don't get in the way when you're trying to use the tablet. I figured there had to be a few other people on here who would be interested in getting a nice cable without dealing with overseas sellers.
For anyone who's curious and can't tell from the picture on the listing, the micro USB connector comes out of the port with a 90 degree left angle and then there's a few inches of cable that run parallel to the tablet and terminate with a standard USB port. It's definitely a lot easier to use than one of the normal straight cables, and so far it's handled everything I've tried connecting, including a couple wireless mouse/keyboard sets, standard USB mice/keyboards, and a flash drive.
Let me know how you two like yours!
This one is cheaper by $2.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Angled-Micro-USB-Host-Cable-Archos-70-101-MID-OTG-1set-/110669749949?_trksid=p4012.m1374&_trkparms=algo%3DPI.WATCH%26its%3DC%252BS%26itu%3DUCC%26otn%3D8%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2249799372964025472#ht_3422wt_975
Should be the same thing.
Yeah, there's definitely slightly cheaper adapters available, but, like most of those listed on eBay, that one ships from China. The one I pointed out was the lowest price I found for an angled adapter that actually shipped from within the US, to avoid the usual waiting period for items to ship from Asia. I tend to get impatient when waiting for new gadgets to arrive...
Thanks, I ordered mine and patiently waiting.
Do I need rooting???
Hi Guys, Do I need rooting to use these kind of adapters to connect my external hard desk to the xoom?
Hi,
The cheapest adapter i found was this
ebay.com/itm/Angled-Micro-USB-Host-Cable-70-101-MID-OTG-/280714077332?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item415bdce494
Price: $2.68
Shipping: free
I ordered 2 cuz u never know where u leave them.
The original eBay link was getting a bit stale, so I went ahead and updated my OP to include an updated link to the relisted item. Enjoy!
Hi guys
I seen these cables as cheap as 5.00 up to 30.00 and up for this adapter
So did anyone try the cheap ones and do they work just as good as the Samsung adapters???
I find no difference. I bought dealerextreme.
Sorry for my english.
no problem thx
It's a standard connection type, so they should all be the same (although manufacturing quality may not be the same on some of those cheaper ones I guess).
i bought one at monoprice and the screen constantly flickers from the note. ive heard others say the same thing and that the official samsung mhl adapter does not do this. any truth to this?
I have a few HTC chargers at home and a car charger none of them work on the note.so even though the port may look the same there seem to be some differences.the same might apply for MHL cables as well.
On ebay there are some cheap adapters which described as "genuine" (search f.e for item 120834740772). Is it really genuine Samsung?
Has anyone bought and tried it?
I bought this:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/samsun...-galaxy-s2-i9100-i9188-i9000-more-black-95031
Works fine for me.

chargers are a different entity, they will give a specific amount of current out so i wouldnt expect the mto charge other devices

Don't buy those. They are very bad quality, USB connector broken off. They are either Samsung QA failed item or knock off. The seller trying to trick you into believing it's OEM with packaging. Stay away.

Yes, I also thought there's something wrong there.
Too much to be be truth.
I got a cheap one and the screen does flicker to white noise, for a couple of milliseconds every now and then, so basically works perfect.
I bought a $10 one from amazon (ASIN: B005SV08SK) and it seems to work good. It came with an extra usb cable to power it too.
I'm glad I sold mine that came with the 4 infuses on Ebay back when we bought them. They were going for big bucks and I made out like a bandit
