Unless they have changed their policy, 35$. I know a few people who have had their screens replaced withing the last 6months or so and that's what they were charged without insurance.

as zamderman stated, The policy has changed, a lot of people were taking advantage of the old screen replacement policy so Sprint changed to the 1 inch rule since they were losing $$$$$.

That's not the info I received. What I was told by a sprint rep is with our phones any screen issue must go through ins because of the shortage of screens. Because my screen cracked internally you couldn't tell if I only had a 1" crack or not. My screen just didn't work. I had to go through ins.

That's not the same though, were talking about a crack in the glass, smaller than 1 inch. Not the digitizer underneath

So I have a quick question, my epic has a cracked screen from dropping it in he road a while ago. I have a web crack at the home menu back and search button, in fact the search buttons glass is gone but it still word and there's two cracks leading up to the top of the phone. I now havetwo peices of tape over the screen(onion the right side one on the left ) this greatly reduces the picture quality and looks very strange. I was wondering if you guys know of a place where I could ether get a new glass and tear down video on how to replace it or a very good screen protector that won't reduce quality. I would also like to know what you guys would in my situation and I am a teen so I cannot buy another replacement for 100 bucks (and don't see why not just to upgrade at this point seeing yesterday I believe I have a 2 year upgrade (had hero then bought this on eBay )) or if I should get the Samsung galaxy 2 that's coming to sprint, thanks guys

Well, I didn't drop mine. I love this phone lol.. my sister dropped hers and now her screen is yellow. It's also unresponsive to touch..
What should she do? Would she have to replace the entire screen.. if so, maybe you all can point me in the right direction.

I'd take it into Sprint. They'll be able to replace the screen for her for about a $35 fee.
I'm pretty sure they wont replace it if its cracked more than an inch just so you know...

They replaced my whole epic once for $35 because it wouldn't go past the samsung screen lol. (This was a long time ago when I thought I had bricked my Epic and never used Odin ha)
There are no cracks. Just a yellow-ish tint and unresponsiveness.

Id go to Best Buy if you have Geek Squad's Black Tie Insurance... they have a rapid exchange program now so you'll have a new Epic on the spot for free if they're in stock (if they don't have any Epics in store you'll have to wait about 3-5 days for them to ship one to the store but its still free)...
The glass on my T989 have had scratches for the last month. It hasn't gotten worse, but I really want to get it fixed, because its starting to really get to me. I'm weighing my options, it seems it would be too costly, and I plan on rather spending money on getting a SG3 at full retail. Should I repair this, and sell it, or sell it as is on craigs list? What would be the most cost effective way? I notice there are OEM original glass replacements on ebay for like 10-15 dollars but don't know how to replace it myself. How much would it be to get a professional to do it? What price would I be able to sell it at on craigslist just to sell it as is? I'm not sure what I should do, any suggestions would help. Theres like 6 hair thin crack lines spread in a circular pattern about 2 cm apart on the top half of the screen. Any suggestions appreciated thanks!
I have never tried it myself but I have heard that replacing the screen on most phones is not too difficult.

I dunno this one seems pretty darn hard. My Hd2 was a b**** since it needed soldering so instead of trying I just sold it
Ive been meaning to post up a tutorial but I did it for myself...it was simple but Replacing the screen on this phone for some scratches is not the best option though as its an expensive screen
Btw the screen and the digitizer are one peice... Or at least very well glued together
Isnt there some type of 'scratch filler' thing that you rub into the scratches?
Try on of these ideas

Are they scratches or cracks? Big difference.
I had a few thin, semi-deep scratches on my screen a while back. I put a dab of white, semi-gritty toothpaste on the scratches themselves, and buffed it into the scratches with a dry towel corner until all residue was gone, then repeated. Did it about 4-5 times and lines were almost entirely buffed out. Can no longer feel lines and can only see when looking extremely close for them. Phone smelled good to boot! Haha!
Cracks... that's a whole another issue.
Best,
AP

I work at a cell phone repair store. We charge like 275 for the repair and a good quality part will run like 225. I have fixed like 30 gs3s so far and I am going to warn you now..... Do not attempt to just replace the glass. I you will just be wasting your time. To the guy that said it is manageable, until you try it yourself, please don't give advice like that out. It very much is not manageable to do. But if you have any experience repairing phones, just order the screen plus lcd yourself and do it. It is very easy on the gs3

Depending where your at I would google search repair centers and call around for the best price. If that doesn't work perhaps Craigslist? I met a really cool tech guy off there and he works on mainly iphones but knows a lot about android devices as well.

If my glass was broken I'd try to fix it.. If I screw up I'd have to replace the entire thing anyway so might as well try to fix it for 15 first.
Or am I missing something?

It isn't about the quality, the screen is curved in the edges so it becomes extremely weak there, one unlucky corner drop that avoids the plastic bezel and hits the screen and welcome cracks.
Now i dropped mine many times and found that the phone drops on it's back most of the time and survives, but i almost broke it when it dropped on the side, luckily it hit the bezel and there was no damage, not even a scratch/bend.
So yep.. luck.

+ 1 on that.
if you have a proper case it'll decrease the chance...but yea with an unprotected phone it comes down to luck really. takes that one spot to crack your screen.
