I can't load any acs, marcusant, ee03 roms with this thing. In recovery its like everything went well but when I boot nothing will load. Is it something I'm missing?

You're probably better off asking within the Bonsai forums, I'm not sure how many people HERE used their unlocker vs the more standard ClockworkMod Recovery (not to bash them or anything).
I haven't used it myself yet either. Drop in to Bonsai and ask. Randy or one of the other Alpha testers will have your answer.
Cool..

One thing you can't do is flash a ROM that requires EXT4. You have to either flash a ROM that does this conversion or run the conversion script talked about in the CWM 3.0.2.5.

Do we have a stock tarball yet or are we going to have to wait for the first update? Sorry if this has been answered, typical xda search fail so I couldn't find anything. I am assuming that means a no but had to ask.
Nothing yet, that's why I'm holding off on rooting.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yeah me too. I want a stock tar. Can wait.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
Take it from a guy who flashes everything on my Epic... I haven't had any issues but I would advise those who are stock to wait a bit.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yeah that's the plan. I know a good amount about flashing but I prefer a fallback. I can write basic scripts for cwm but only basic stuff. I had an epic so am used to the process.
Yeah I had to take my first phone back so I couldn't root but after looking at all the problems I'm staying stock till we get a tar for Odin. I'll play with my original epic for a while longer

what is the big ordeal about using MTD? since it has so many problems, and takes so many steps with so much effort to make anything happen.
*not trying to insult anyone - to be on record*
The partition sizes can be changed, needed for official cm, ics may be too big for our /system right now.
sent from my cm7 touchwiz 4.5-ed epic
So u can adjust the size of the partitions? Doesn't that affect system function files in a negative way? Don't they need so much space for processing?

The only problem with Legendary on MTD is not being to use ROM Manager anymore or boot to recovery from the power menu....that's it.

I haven't heard of any issues with MTD. Issues with people making mistakes converting? Yes. Issues with people making mistakes trying to convert back? Yes. Issues with people having restored data from rfs instead of starting fresh like they should? Yes. The list goes on. There's nothing wrong with "MTD".
I'm running the current cm7 nightly MTD and my phone has never run smoother or more stable (minus hq video recording, which is just an issue within the rom and has nothing to do with the fs)

Yep that was my point. I have seen no issues with legendary that I manually converted over to mtd... most of the problems associated with mtd were merely user error

Ok..I see, very interesting. I'm going to have to do some very serious studying on mtd before I decide to convert. Just to become very familiar with it. Thankyou again guys for the info. I most appreciate it.

Yeah me and Flats have been on this whole MTD, I converted my own backup also and just made a flashable zip instead. Legendary MTD is well... LEGENDARY!!!!
I have been on thunderhawk 3.3 manually converted to mtd for a few days now and see no down side to switching besides the known rom manager/reboot recovery not working properly. I gained 191mb of extra space and have not had any issues.
Edit: and apparently an issue with installing large apps from the market without some tweaking...

Ok, so I have been using cwm since my android on metro. Never an issue, always smooth. Now everyone switching to amon ra. Why? And why are some devs making it so you need amon ra to install their roms? Give me some insight people..................
28 VIEWS IN 10 MINUTES?
I KNOW SOMEONE HAS AN ANSWER..........
Ok, yes, Amon is more reliable on everything. Why? Idk, but it is.
Yes, some Devs ROMs have to have Amon to install correctly. Why? Idk, dont care. If the Devs say it is better, install it and enjoy.

The answer is up at the top where it says Search This Forum. This question has been asked and answered a million times on here.
CWM is great; on other phones. On the EVO, not so good. Doesn't wipe properly, is know to have problems restoring back-ups. Those are just the surface issues.
Plain and simple. If you have an evo, you use amon. Its like rule #1 haha. All of the CWM recovery versions I have used either A.didn't wipe correctly or B. Couldn't flash what I needed because it only supports edify scripting in zips and doesn't support amend (older but still kinda popular)

I have been doing this since December 2011. And have been rooting, flashing, kernals, you name it... So please, tone it down. I DID search this forum, google, facebook, and every other search engine on the web. NO ONE WOULD GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER.
SO.....Thank you for your pleasent answer.
Umm, I didn't think I was being overly stern in my answer.

AmonRA/Clockwork Mod
Since it almost seem like you're interested in having a little bit of both worlds; I guess you can try this out and see how it works out for you

I'm using that and it works perfectly for me.
NAND backups with no problems
NAND restore with no problems
WIPE for new flash with no problems
I would recommend it over RA 2.3 for the simple fact that you can use the BACK button to actually go back a step
+1
I also recommend Amon ra 3.11 it just works on the EVO perfectly been using it since 1st day I rooted (2yrs) and it just works amazingly

Funny cause i was thinkin bout this very issue. I search....and this is the thread that i come up with.
One thing tho. I've always been on CWM. But im thinking of flashing AM just for the hell of it. Am i doomed to losing all of my CWM backups? Or can AM restore a CWM backup?? <<--(Before you ask, I searched this question and got conflicting answers.)
Gimme feedback

Hey Philly, I just want to thank you for your wipe zip, it is the only wipe that I use before any ROM change. It ROCKS!!!!
Wanted to get a discussion going over a much debated and discussed topic....flashing ICS roms with ICS kernels. I want to know the forums specific attempts so we can better understand user errors versus software errors versus hardware errors.
I bring this up as I went from el29 to fc07 a while back and have been on ICS since. I am now on FC22 courtesy of agat63, which I flashed over calks fc18 v2 from. Before that I went from stock rooted fc15 to calks. This was all done using either rogue recovery fc07 or rogue recovery fc22 and using calks format all zip or modified format all zip.
Does it seem this was all "lucky"? I have a feeling many of these brick issues are due to people trying to flash between an AOSP type rom to another and/or using ROM Manager to do so. So lets hear it . . .

The bricking is related to (I think) data partitioning in the ics cwm recovery. If you wipe anything, something is most likely going to go wrong.

That's what I'm trying to boil down to....I have done bith wipes and zip formats, yet no issues....some methods or ROMS are leading into this so I'm hoping the brickers out there can give some feedback on exactly what was flashed and on what ROM, along with some success stories to try to figure out the issue.

Someone said once the source is released the risks should be minimal.
Also true....but with all the leaks going around and flashaholics it'd be good to have some guidelines til then, other than speculation. "I believe in science."

In addition,
CM9/AOSP/AOKP seem to increase brick chances.
CMW Touch espicially with ROM Manager is espicially dangerous and should not be touched.

This is what I hear the most. Has anyone else had success with flashing stock ROMs via clockwork on a stock(ish) ICS ROM? By this I mean based off fc07/15/18/22 (calk/agat63/goodness) and not CM9/AOKP/etc...

Is there a guide for converting a phone from RFS to MTD? My gf's device (Galaxy Prevail) has a pretty good build of cm7, however it's built over EXT4, which is ****. She loves the cm7 build but can only seem to use it for a few weeks before performance and stability comes to a hault, so I was wondering how difficult it would be to do this, or if it's even possible for her device, and where I could find a guide/further info on how I could attempt to get it accomplished. I know this isn't Epic related, but "their" devs are kinda morons, and I trust our dev community a lot more, so I'm asking here.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I think you should head over to the epic channel, cm devs would help you with your problem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Cause they're f'kin awesome. I'll definitely go there and hit them up, thanks.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
If it is anything like our phone it will need a conversion script and a custom kernel to support the MTD partition. Might be hard to do without the Dev having the phone to work with.
Then I guess it's time for me to learn more.
