Hello, My G2 did a face plant on a hardwood floor this morning and the screen is now black. I know it is responsive due to the haptic feed back of the lock screen and the buttons. I assume it's just the back light, but I can't see the screen if I hold it under the light. Does anyone have a solution? Searched and came up empty handed. Help is very welcomed!
I dropped mine many times, without it breaking the screen. But a week ago, mine finally took the fatal fall as well. I ended up getting one through the insurance, though it did cost 130. Don't know if its worth taking it to a repair shop and trying to get it fixed, as far unrooting and stuff there is a guide to do it without the screen and using adb.

That stinks, my screen is fine, it just wont show anything, not even scratched...
Yah mine was the same way. Just blank, and would appear white at times, kinda grey and black. Looks wise it was flawless.

I had the same issue arise when I accidentally put my knee (and entire body weight) on the screen of my first G2. Afterwards, the screen would not turn on, ever. I could tell things were working because of the haptic feedback still working, and I could raise and lower the volume, even accept calls.
Fortunately, it was within the first fourteen days of purchase - so I just took it to T-mobile and said: "This just quit working." They replaced it for free right then and there.
Did you try doing a master reset using the hardware keys?

Mine did the exact same thing. I just changed the screen. I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't revert back to stock since i couldn't see CWM. I asked for help and nobody help. Thats why I just voided the warranty and opened it up. I just bought my second screen because it crapped out again. If it does it again I'll just use my insurance for a new phone. Then I might get that sensation. looks great.

Hi, I have my Defy for about a month and just now noticed 2 tiny stuck pixels of green/blue colour. They are actually visible only on black screen and in normal usage you can only find them if you know where they are, otherwise it only looks like a tiny particle of dust.
Since I only noticed it now it's too late for me to send it back
Have tried different software solutions and ran them over some nights, but nothing helped. So it seems they are permanent. I'm still on stock firwmare and havent flashed it yet.
It's sort of psychological thing... personally, I find it frustrating and it pisses me off because I know the problem is there and I have paid the full price for the phone to be perfect.
I was wondering how many of you experienced this and is there any chance that motorola would cover this problem under warrianty (in EU)?
My first Defy got a stuck pixel within the first week of me owning it. I phoned T-Mo and they sent me a replacement the next day. Before I did that though, I asked a T-Mo employee in one of their shops about it. He told me that if I couldn't get it sorted over the phone, to come back into the shop and they would help me get it replaced under warranty.
I don't really know how it all works but that was just my situation - hopefully it's of some use.
My defy that I just sold had two dead white pixels. One in the middle of the screen and one about the height of the volume rocker. Only visible on black screen though.

I dropped my phone the other day and had thought the case had protected it since there were no scratches, but I guess not. The touch pad (the black square beneath the screen) will respond to swipes like normal but I cant press it in =/ Before I disassemble my phone I figured I would ask if anyone had any suggestions.
So if you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
send it for replacement... Don't break it apart when you can still send it in. Tell customers services that you where using it one day and realize that it won't work. Are you from a g2?

Yea its the G2, but I have had it since pre order, its probably to long ago to send it in now.
Yeah, I'm having a very similar issue. Mine clicks, and clicks register with the OS, but it's... sticky? It feels like there's dried soda or something under it. Of course, there's not. I haven't spilled anything on my phone before. Maybe if we ask T-Mo nicely, they'll send us replacements?
This morning I woke up to find my phone dead off the charger. I plugged it in to charge and went back to sleep. I woke up later and powered it up. Then I noticed an odd discoloration in the lower right side of my screen. A quick load of a webpage with a white background and sure enough I had some large yellowish blob discoloring my beautiful display on my T-Mobile Galaxy S II.
I haven't had this phone for more than two months so I called T-Mobile and they quickly issued a warranty replacement (it's in the mail). So, I ask you, what's wrong with this picture and has anyone else seen this on their phone?
(see attached picture of my screen)
I haven't seen that. Good that they replaced it. My screen has a dead pixel...can't really see it because its at the status bar and the signal icon is right on top of it, but I'm going to try to get it replaced. Hopefully they do as I haven't paid my bill yet.

Whoa that is crazy looking. Sorry about your phone! Never sen that before.
Possibly extensive exposure to UV light. (Sun)
UV damages the organic light emitting diodes. Almost instantly upon exposure.
They manufacture the screen in such a way that prevents UV damage. If they didnt, just using it in a naturally lit room could rape your screen. But maybe yours is flawed.

I have no idea what caused that, but the first thing I thought of was how crt monitors would look like that when I left an unshielded speaker (magnet) nearby..and I think I just showed my age.

Best guess is that it was an inherent flaw in the LCD that came out after being bumped or dropped? Either way, handset insurance took care of it and T-Mob waived the fees because it was only a week or two old at the time. They shipped me a new one overnight and I sent them the bad one back...
Mine had similar problem. Something impacted the screen I guess. At one point I could see a dark line in the blob. Figured it was a crack. But mine grew until it consumed the whole screen.

Questions go in the Q&A section
Hi guys, MY HOX has recently been playing up in the centre of the screen it has no touch sensitivity, anything i try and press around that region does not work. However i installed a zagg last night and used the spray that came with it. Im wondering if that has effect my phone? I tryed to look for the water indicator in the sim slot to see if it got water inside their how ever i can not find it. im very worried because i used the zagg solution that when i try to take the phone back they will say it has been water damaged and will not replace/fix the issue.Any help would be great thanks.
You waited 24h after applying it didn't you?
You should wait it out.
There is no way you could've triggered the water indicators by only spraying on the screen.

Thanks for the snappy reply i took the protector off shortly when i noticed the sensitivity issue.
So you still have touch problems without the protector?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
yea, but i did not have this problem before the protector.
No worries, normal usage of the solution shouldn't have done any damage.
To be on the safe side, put it to a bag of rice for 24h, that should get rid of moisture if there's any.
Then send it for repair and hope for best.
Best of luck for you.

Looks like you have a defective screen. Dont worry about it. Mine started being unresponsive in the middle of the screen 2 weeks ago, so i called HTC and they booked UPS to pickup my phone on Monday morning and i got it back on thursday morning with a new screen and jelly bean installed(I had Coredroid ICS 5.1 installed). I also have two friends with One X's that had the same problem two months ago. Both screen replacement
Try wiping your phone. I had problems with my screen as well recently. Didn't know why, and seemed to come out if nowhere. I factory reset it and it was good after that.
Maybe you have a hardware issue, but this is at least one quick thing you can try before giving your phone to HTC.
Goodluck

its not the zagg
I have the zagg on my hox since 4-5 months... May be your device is having faulty screen.. get it replaced.
Never had problem like that.
During my daily walk last week, I was obviously sweating so badly that while talking it ended up getting sweat down thru the headphone jack. The bootanimation sounds, keypad tones for emergency dialer also. A faint purple tint can be seen while screen is in the "on" position but no graphics whatsoever. Is this the digitizer? If so, any other parts I should expect to go bad along with it? How complex is the swap out?
The moisture is just a theory based on the timing that the screen decided to stop working.
thanks in advance
It's not the digitizer buy I know what you mean, try pressing and sorta move the screen so it can come back, or replace the LCD, this phone is easy to take apart trust me

i have wiggled, pushed on, banged on, cursed at and anything else imaginable to attempt to get the screen back on. so this is a lcd issue and not digitizer? need to fix this device for the wife, so she will have something new to lose.

Just try all of the above on the wife. In the end it might work out better. Lol. Sorry. I've seen digitizers with LCD on eBay like $10 with free shipping. Honestly if you're replacing one you're right there on the other one.
