Thanks

Not necessarily. I had a droid 1 that I lost and they sent me a refurb that looked like **** and the hinge on the slide was loose as hell. I told them that was unacceptable and they said that the droids weren't being shipped anymore so I had to pick another phone (lesser phones). I told them I wouldn't take anything less that my droid, so eventually getting up high enough got me a droid, and I specifically requested that I got a brand new phone (incredible) because I didn't want to get another crap refurb. Then I was shipped a brand new incredible to replace my droid 1

Prepare to be pissed, then. It's all but assured that you will receive a refurb. It's like most any other insurance... you get a replacement kind, taking depreciated value into account. State Farm, for instance, isn't going to give you a 2011 Mustang if your 2006 gets totaled.
the screen has a sort of pink color to it when see whites at a low brightness, anyone noticed this with hardware version 2

I'm on my AMOLED Inc (hw version 002) with the brightness all the way down, I've never noticed a pink color :/ odd.

I have read on another site that Asurion was out of our incredible so I called them and they said they have plenty in stock if I needed to make a claim. Has anyone made a claim in the last few weeks or know anything about this?
If you make a claim on an Incredible with the original Amoled screen and they only have Super LCD in stock, will they allow you to choose another phone? I'm constantly paranoid about being stuck with a Super LCD. I just prefer the amoled.
I read the same thing today too! I get home and have a letter in the mail, from Asurion! I open to find out that they're lowering my mo thy charge from $6/month to $5.18/ month. But my deductible is going from $89.00 to $99.00! Ok. So it's more expensive, but they better have replacements in stock!
I first heard about that price change about a month ago but just saw the thing about them being out of Incs today. Apparently they're replacing them with Droid x's.

I hope not I dropped my phone the other day luckily it just nicked the top plastic casing and the screen is ok . I would not want a droid x I think I would have checked on ebay for a used one
yes I just had my dinc replaced by a droid x by asurion. did not like the droid x nearly as well. I was due for an upgrade anyway so I upgraded to a dinc via verizon. now I have a brand new droid x for sale.

Ok so my power button is starting to fail. It works most of the time but its starting to become annoying when it doesn't and also my phone has a significant amount of backlight bleeding. I really don't want to have to pay to replace it so should I contact asurion or should I go to the Verizon store?

I'm pretty sure VZW won't give one up for free cause you're not under warranty with them most likely (30 days I believe?) and I don't even think they have them anymore. And Asurion charges a deductible for a replacement

Manufacturer's warranty is one year.
If you're within that period, and they can replicate the issue, then they'll probably order you a replacement.
Thanks for the reply. So do I contact Verizon or Asurion?

Contact Verizon if you're within the one year manufacturer's warranty. If you have insurance (asurion), I believe its something like $90-$100 for a replacement, but it covers everything (loss, damage, theft, etc). Also, it seems like most people that are getting replacements from asurion are getting incredible 2s, I'm not sure about Verizon's warranty replacements, maybe someone that's gotten one recently could weigh in?

I'm within the one year manufacturer's warranty so ill be contacting Verizon tomorrow.
I'm curious as to what the replacement phone will be, I read somewhere that Verizon was out of Incredibles.

Just called Verizon and they're replacing my phone. The replacement device is the Incredible I was hoping to get the Incredible 2 but I guess not
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Verizon must have a decent amount of certified like new incredibles still. I'll have to keep that in mind; asurion - most likely sending inc2, Verizon - still sending out inc1.
They also asked if I wanted to upgrade early but I don't want to upgrade just yet.

Probably best to wait a month or two, there should be some nice things out by then
I.E - Samsung galaxy s2 and Motorola bionic. The moto might be cool if it can be rooted and gets good dev support, although I still think the gs2 is sexier and better specced. Also the HTC vigor, which will hopefully be out before too long, sounds like a beast of a phone.
Just a few things to remember when dealing with Big Red and/ or Asurion:
-Have you done anything to your phone that "voids" your warranty? i.e. root
-If you have't voided your warranty, then use it. Also remember if you can't get what you need taken care of on your first call try, try and try again. Many "Verizon" call centers are generic call centers are subcontracted and can only do or approve anything.
- If you have "voided" your warranty by rooting or something else just remember most "warranty's" cover defect, damage, LOST or stolen. If damaged or defect you usually have to send the damaged phone back to them where they then test to make sure the warranty hasn't been voided. If "stolen" you'll need a police report filed and copy sent in (from experience).
That's just my two cents from previous experience.
I am rooted but ill just go back to stock before I send it back.

I'm hoping a Nexus phone with an LTE radio comes to Verizon by the time I can upgrade (October) but I'm not holding my breath. The HTC Vigor sounds interesting if the rumored specs hold up.

I know that if you root it'll void your warranty, and today I dropped my phone and the faceplate shifted to the left, does anyone know if I can take it to Costco even on S-Off to get it replaced, or anyone know how to shift it back?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA Premium App
I seriously doubt the folks running the phone booth at Costco even know how to tell if a phone is S-OFF or not (or get paid enough to care). Flash back to stock and go return it.
If you just flash back to stock then they will never know.
Rooting won't take away your warranty. Verizon doesn't check to see if you rooted (if you exchange over the phone). Severe physical damage is the only thing that will take away your warranty. Good luck getting a replacement that works though. Extremely poor quality control in the refurbished phones. Dust, scratches, blown speakers, etc. I swear verizon just ships the defective ones right back out.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. I've had numerous replacements. Never have had any problems with Verizon or Asurion.

you must elaborate further otherwise we are only to see that you are contradicting your statement. As I do agree you can get good refurbs. The part when you say "I've had numerous replacements. Never have had any problems with Verizon or Asurion." If you've had numerous replacements, then the refurbs can't be all so great, UNLESS of coarse you are talking about a number of different phone in which you had to get refurbs for.
Alright thanks for your help, I'll be flashing stock on this and hoping I'll get a Froyo

Alright! So I just came back from Costco, I got my phone exchanged for a brand new Inc2, and sadly it's S-ON 2.3.3 :/ Kind of wishing I never exchanged it, but one without a banged up faceplate is nice. Waiting for AlphaRev to get S-OFF *fingers crossed*

How much is a single use one/cheapest one? I don't have much so do you know if any phone unlocking places in SoCal use it/anyone in SoCal (San Bernadino/Los Angeles County)?

I see what you're saying. My first Incredible 1 we took back to Verizon because Costco was cheaper. Then I got one from Costco brand new that after 5 or so months had some software glitch that Verizon sent me a replacement for. That one was refurbished. That one worked better than all of my other phones I had. Then I dropped it and shattered the screen to smitherines. My new Incredible 2 is the refurbished replacement for that broken one. So, like I said, I haven't had any quality control issues from either company. Maybe I'm just lucky but I'm a happy camper.

After about a year and a half of joyful use with my HTC desire...It died two days ago...in a tragic twister accident...the screen no longer displays anything but a few white lines, yet the touch screen still works...i just cant see what im typing...or what im doing, not very practical.
Now What should i do now...send it off for repair, being in mind it has a custom Rom on it, Or just buy a new phone...another htc desire? or?
Thanks for your opinions
You are considering getting another HTC Desire? A 2 year old obsolete piece of technology?
Man you have a valid reason to upgrade then why not do it. At least go with HTC DesireS or something.
Haha my desire is like my son!
haha, true this is my opportunity...TO EBAY! lol..not sure if i really trust ebay tho !
You could get a beater phone and use it until you find a phone you want on eBay, kijiji, etc. Or until the one you want releases.

Sensation imo.
Or maybe step outside the square and go Nokia Lumia900
I would say send it for repair, there is no issue what so ever with your phone contaning custom rom, to my opinion it is just your LCD display died, it is nothing compare a new device cost, if you repare it you mite even get a good price for it, which will make your new phone cheeper.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
I don't think repairing it will be worth it. The display costs about 60-70 Euros and if you don't repair it on your own, it gets even more expensive.
I got a new Nexus S for my girlfriend for 200,- Euros, so...
If you got some "good hands", there are planty of you tube movies how to replace the lcd, and if you go to item number 300640556669 on ebay, you will find the display for about 28€.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
Thank you for all of the replies, I went into the 3 store. they said if it is accidental damage, it will be repaired for free.
as their is no visable scratches or damage, i hope they can do for free.
Now, once its repaired, i might try and sell the desire, and get a sensation...and if it cant be repaired, ill try to fix it my self, which will be a fun project!
