Hi,
I have recently purchased a HTC Touch Diamond. I purchased it from Orange UK on contract
My current ROM version is: 1.37.405.1 WWE
Ive tried downloading the ROM from HTC website it says device not supported
Can somebody tell me how to update to latest 1.93 ROM. Anyone here that has bought the phone from Orange UK
PLZ HELP!!
You need to install hardspl in order to install any other ROM than the carrier's stock ROM.
I have a Diamond on Orange UK contract which came with the same ROM.
You need to install HardSPL before flashing any ROM other than an Official Orange UK ROM. I tried the official HTC ROM however I much prefer Dutty's ROM as it yielded better performance. I currently use Dutty's 1.5 and will probably flash 1.7 when it is released this weekend.
How about teh offical 1.93 ROM will I be able to flash that
Can you give me the exact method you used also the hard spl version etc signed or unsigned
As far as I am aware Orange UK haven't released an updated Orange branded ROM yet for the diamond, so the only way to flash a new ROM, whether official HTC 1.93 or other 'cooked' rom based on the official rom is to flash HardSPL 1.4 first (unsigned). If you are not comfortable doing that (there are plenty of threads on the subject), then you will have to wait until Orange UK launch their version of an official HTC rom, probably complete with Orange branded TouchFlo 3D - yuck!.
I used the information in the WIKI useful which contains a link to the following site which gives step by step instructions -
http://www.modmydiamond.info/
You can download the latest European ROM from
http://rapidshare.com/files/1376163...igned_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
Is this really the case, only way to flash is via hardspl?
I only ask because I have flashed mine twice now with official roms just by extracting the file and running it - worked both times without problems.
Tad confuddled...

Yes, it is. But is not a hard thing to do. Use Hardspl 1.40 (unsigned) and then flash the rom you want

No, you do not always need HardSPL, this depending if your device is CID Locked or unlocked.
Carrier Id or CID - commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from Orange UK (Orange is the 'carrier'), your phone will only accept Orange ROMs or official ROMs (the carrier's ROMs or HTC). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you'll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. This is where HardSPL comes in to play.

Gotcha.. Mine is SIM-Free so that will explain why it can flash without hard-spl then, at least the official roms as I've not tried another yet.
Will give it a try. Will contact orange first or go to their repair centres.
I have noticed the device does get hot with original orange stock rom.
I would recommend if admin makes this thread a sticky will help alot of people out
Newbie question and probably an obvious answer. I have installed HardSPL and upgraded my Radio with no problems. I am a wee bit nervous about a full rom upgrade. What will happen to my orange settings (voicemail etc) and if i were to restore my info and programs using spb backup will that restore everything

@Windoze9t8
So just to confirm, IF I was able to get the official HTC WWE ROM from their website i.e. "RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05", are you saying that CID Locked Orange UK HTC Diamonds would still be able to update using this *without* having to do the HardSPL update first?
Alternatively.. IF the HardSPL is required.. would I need the HardSPL 1.40 (unsigned) as mentioned above.. or should I be looking to use HardSPL 1.38 Signed as the Official Rom has "signed" in the filename?
Sorry for (possibly repeated) questions - I just want to be sure, and no one has replied as concisely as you before
Ok.. please ignore my previous post.
My Orange UK Touch Diamond would not update with that latest HTC Rom without installing HardSPL 1.93 Unsigned.
I couldn't find 1.40 unsigned anywhere, and the ROM *wouldn't* update with any other version (1.37unsigned, 1.38 signed or 1.24mfg)
Using DiamondCustomRUU that came with 1.37, I copied the 1.93 HardSPL into its folder (this updated the SPL via a hard reset), and then used the RUU that came with the Official Update.
With all these different SPLs available, I wonder if someone can explain why users with Orange / other network branded handsets cannot simply install an un-modified HTC original 1.37 SPL? What is the benefit of using one of the hacked SPLs if an original HTC SPL were available, and the user only wanted to install the HTC original 1.93 update
HardSPL is only needed if you want to use custom ROM's. If you just use stock ROM (branded if that's the case), there is no need for any HardSPL.
But what if I would like to put the stock HTC ROM onto my Orange handset.
It is CID-locked. I would prefer to install a stock HTC SPL rather than a custom one so I can then install the stock HTC ROM.
The question is, if I were to install the stock HTC 1.93 SPL, could i then install the original HTC 1.93 ROM update on my Orange handset?
Yes, that should be possible.
Just use first HardSPL to install HTC stock ROM, then install original SPL.
I would of thought that you need to super CID your orange locked device in order to install any ROM not released by Orange - due to the CID lock
Olipro 1.4 work well for Orange devices
Hi All,
I have recently purchased a second handed HTC Desire from a friend. It is a Malaysian Warranty set. However, when i have purchased it, it is already rooted.
I tried to unroot the phone yesterday by running the HTC Asia RUU file but appparently, it failed. Either with Error 131 or Error 140. Tried it with the other HTC WWE RUU file and failed as well.
Then, after some researching, apparently some said i need a goldcard to RUU. I created a goldcard, but the HTC Asia RUU (for Eclair) still fail. But this time, the RUU for WWE (for Eclair) is working and i finally unrooted the phone. However, strange enough, by using the WWE version, my firmware became a EU version, instead of Asia version. I tried running OTA to upgrade to Froyo, and after some problems, it finally updated and again, its EU Froyo instead of Asia FroYo.
I am very sure that this is original Asian Set as i have checked with the Official Distributor here and its stated to be warrantied by them. Thus, why would only EU RUU worked on this? Had i done anything wrong? How can i make it to go back to Asia RUU instead?
Thank you so much for any help. I am already out of idea on what i should do.
What HBOOT are you on and what S/W version?
Hi EddyOS,
My HBOOT is 0.80 when i wanted to unroot. In regards to the S/W version, i personally have no idea. Now, i am on FroYo EU WWE which is HBOOT 0.92 but i was hoping for it to go back to FroYo Asia WWE unrooted. Thanks.
Right, bit of work required here. And it WILL reset the phone...Having said that, try this first...
Download this RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe
And just try and flash that. If it works, happy days and you're on stock Asia FroYo.
If it doesn't work, get your gold card in your phone and follow this guide. Once complete, try the Asia RUU again:

Hi EddyOS,
You are indeed a life saver Finally solve my problem here after using the RUU file. All i did was create a GoldCard, and RUU using the FroYo Asia WWE file posted above. Thank you so much for your help.
The gold card should've only been needed to go from the Asia ROM to any other ROM. If your ROM was the WWE one out the box then you'll need the gold card for all future OTA updates so just make your day to day sd card a gold card and be done with it
Well, should i use a gold card, if i accidentally shifted from Asia to WWE and wanted to shift back to Asia? I believe mine is Asian version right out of the box. Since mine is unbranded version and all i wanted to do is RUU back to original, i should not need the GoldCard right?
Its only confusing for me because when i try to unroot back to original using the Asia RUU, its giving me all sorts of Error 140 / Error 131 but no problem when i use a gold card for the WWE version.

Did you make a goldcard properly originally? A gold card will let you flash any stock RUU. The Asia one would have worked if it definitely was an unbranded one from Malaysia. As you said, it was second hand, so don't believe it wasn't debranded by someone else before that.
Sent from my HTC Desire - XDA App, rooted and free of market restrictions
Hi geejayoh,
As far as goldcard being made previously, that was something that i am not too sure off. I heard from the previous owner that he had rooted the phone, via the GoldCard method (he said, when he root, unrevoked wasn't available yet). Thus, i am wondering whether there is any effect over by the goldcard.
When i try to unroot for the first time, no goldcard is present cause i have removed the SD card itself. I tried it with the RUU Asia Eclair but it failed. Same goes to RUU WWE Eclair. After that, i decide to surf around locating a way to create a goldcard, and try to unroot again. I followed all of the instruction on creating a gold card, downloaded a program that will generate an img file and created it. Used multiple SD cards as well to test all the goldcards and they are all giving the same sign. And again, RUU Asia Eclair failed, even with a gold card. Error generated was either Error 131 or Error 140 (not too sure which one). And when i finally use the RUU WWE Eclair, it was unrooted.
I am 100% sure that this is an unbranded one from Malaysia as i have checked with SIS malaysia (which is the distributor for HTC here in Malaysia) and they have confirmed that my set is under their warranty. So, definitely wasn't debranded. It was just weird to me that the RUU Eclair Asia wasn't working. However, the RUU FroYo Asia was working fine though as guided by EddyOS
Mmm, interesting. Glad you fixed it though!
While we're on the case, can you tell me if the Asia WWE Froyo ROM includes a chinese handwriting IME from HTC?
I've downloaded the rom, but there is no point in installing unless it has the handwriting IME that I want
If you mean whether it can support chinese and perform hand-writting in chinese, then yes. I have checked with 2 Desires (one that is unrooted - and OTAed to Asia FroYo, and another is via the Asia WWE FroYo RUU) and both have hand-writting features. You need to select the handwritting feature via the International Keyboard settings though
Amazing, that's great. I'll be flashing the asia froyo now then!
Im going to be sending my Desire to HTC after experiencing the reboot issue , at the moment i have a rooted phone running a custom rom and want to go back to an official UK T-Mobile (non rooted) rom
on the official ROMS page there are two:
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755.exe
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.0 6.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
does anyone know what the differences are and which one i should go back to?
Cheers
What software version are you on now?
What HBOOT are you on?
when i power on and volume down i get
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0-80-0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2
not sure what you mean by software version
Im running the latest OpenDesire ROM at the moment : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768624
Get 1.21.110.4, it'll flash fine
k cool ,can you tell me what the differences are?
i also noticed one has signed at the end, is that significant?
1.15 - old
1.21 - new
Pretty simple really!! The higher the numbers, the newer the build
As for signed, probably just means it's actually a released ROM - I've never took any notice before. They're both official T-Mobile RUUs so it shouldn't matter
couple more questions
does anyone know if the newest TMobile ROM is Froyo
and
Do i need a gold card to run these RUU roms
1. No it's not, it would be 2.x.xxx.x if it was. The T-Mobile one isn't available yet BUT you can then flash the OTA update to get to FroYo once you've used 1.21.110.4
2. If you phone came with a T-Mobile ROM on it then no, a gold card is only needed to flash a ROM which is a different version to the original
I flashed one of the tmobile roms off the rom page and it was no good with my slcd screen.
Just something to consider if you have an slcd screen.
He's not on an SLCD screen as he's on HBOOT 0.80 so it'll be AMOLED
thanks for your help, appreciated
yeah i have an amoled screen (i checked the sticker on the side of the box )
on the Official RUU page it has these two OTA updates
OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11-1.15.110.10_releasez3xlhzglzlds8gg2.zip
OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4-1.15.110.11_release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip
would the 2nd one include froyo? the reason for asking is i really need the Portable Hotspot feature in a couple of weeks and unrooted 2.1 doesnt have this
Neither are the FroYo OTA, you need this one:
http://fotadl.htc.com/2.12.110.2-1.21.110.4_release3uop1mw9unpc376h.zip
First, flash the 1.21.110.4 RUU, then download that file and do the following:
1. Rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip)
2. Copy it to your SD card
3. Turn the phone on holding volume down to get into HBOOT and then select recovery
4. At the red !, hold volume up and press power
5. On the menu, select 'apply sd:update.zip'
6. Follow the instructions
superb mate, thanks!
just tried to run teh OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4-1.15.110.11_release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip
and went through all the prompts and then it told me
ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
now my phone is tmobile but im 90% sure when i got it (when the desire came out, bought it from mobilephonesdirect) it was customised with Virgin Mobile icons, would that make a difference?
Yes, chance are you're on generic FW (x.xx.405.x)...having said that, is your sd card a gold card?
i still have my goldcard
i just checked back on an old thread and a few people also got tmobile desires with Virgin media icons on the homescreen
Either way, if you're now on 1.21.110.4 then that OTA file should have no issues. Obviously use your gold card as if you're not chances are you weren't on a T-Mobile ROM originally - in which case get the latest FroYo RUU by clicking on my Signature and use that instead!!
ok
i didnt manage to get as far as flashing 1.21.110.4 as i got there ERROR 131.
so , i need to use my goldcard to flash 2.29.405.2 WWE (FRF91). and if so i take it all i need to do is flash the rom with the gold card in instead of my normal sd card.
if i install 2.29.405.2 will that be ok to send back to HTC (reboot problem)
No
If you tried the T-Mobile RUU without your gold card and got that error then chances are you're on a generic Desire. So download the 2.29.405.2 from my sig and try again without your gold card. If it works then you have an unbranded Desire
ey mate
cheers for all yor help
i managed to flash the rom in your sig without a goldcard and all is fine!
i can now send them phone to HTC to be repaired! thanks again
Hi, how can i fully reset my htc desire? As like I have just taken it out of the box? I currently have it rooted and on a custom rom.
Flash a orginal RUU for your Device
Ok, but how do i know wich one to install?
Depends on what rom was on it, when you bought it..
If there were branding, and you want the branding back, you will need to flash a ruu for your carrier, but if you just want the original system back just flash the wwe 2.29.405 ruu.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
or google - how to unroot htc desire.... come on man just read up on it
The roms can be found on http://shipped-roms.com
