Hi, how can i fully reset my htc desire? As like I have just taken it out of the box? I currently have it rooted and on a custom rom.
Flash a orginal RUU for your Device
Ok, but how do i know wich one to install?
Depends on what rom was on it, when you bought it..
If there were branding, and you want the branding back, you will need to flash a ruu for your carrier, but if you just want the original system back just flash the wwe 2.29.405 ruu.

With all these different SPLs available, I wonder if someone can explain why users with Orange / other network branded handsets cannot simply install an un-modified HTC original 1.37 SPL? What is the benefit of using one of the hacked SPLs if an original HTC SPL were available, and the user only wanted to install the HTC original 1.93 update
HardSPL is only needed if you want to use custom ROM's. If you just use stock ROM (branded if that's the case), there is no need for any HardSPL.
But what if I would like to put the stock HTC ROM onto my Orange handset.
It is CID-locked. I would prefer to install a stock HTC SPL rather than a custom one so I can then install the stock HTC ROM.
The question is, if I were to install the stock HTC 1.93 SPL, could i then install the original HTC 1.93 ROM update on my Orange handset?
Yes, that should be possible.
Just use first HardSPL to install HTC stock ROM, then install original SPL.
I would of thought that you need to super CID your orange locked device in order to install any ROM not released by Orange - due to the CID lock
Olipro 1.4 work well for Orange devices
Hi folks,
I will be getting a DHD on orange uk in a few days. I read all the stuff about rooting and s-off when flashing custom roms, but if all I want to do is flash my orange phone with the official HTC RUU to debrand it, and possibly back again if need be, do I need to do any of that? Can I just use the RUU files? I couldn't work it out from any of the related threads...
Thanks!
No if your branded, you need to create a gold card to run a generic ruu.

htc sync need to be install and u must have right CID
hi
doesn't rooting means installing any ROM i want??? i can't
i have also S-OFFed my device, but i can't install
i am from Kurdistan, Iraq and i have a desire came from UK, so i want to install the main arabic desire RUU
can you help a little please???
RUU's are not rom's, they are utilities that you can restore your phone to factory mode.
Every phone has their own RUU so if your phone is bought from UK it probably won't support arabic RUU, you can even brick it with wrong RUU.

Click to collapse
Flash the latest radio, if you want arabic rom use InsertCoin but partition your sd first
And like the reaction above says RUU aren't roms, the are unrooting your phone, and wrong ruu means sometimes a bricked phone
Hello all,
Before installing a custom ROM on my Desire jotted down on paper what version of the original RUU, but I lost the paper where this information was noted.
How do I know which version of the RUU to my Desire ????? Or I can use any RUU??
Thanks in advance
Find the RUU with your network name (may be more than one), and make sure you download the latest. If you are restoring because you need to "fix" your phone you can just use a WWE RUU, if you are restoring for warranty, and you can't find your RUU, just use the 2.3.3 RUU
Many many thanks bortak!
Hi Guys!
I have one short question. Today I received my new One X, on power on the phone I saw that this pohone has a vodafone branding. That's not nice and not really acceptable for me.
Now my question:
Is it possible simply flash it with the original hTc Europe RUU (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_ 1.1204.71.08_release_249238_signed.exe) to get an unbranded phone? Or is it not possible to flash it without unlocking the bootloader? I won't flash any custom ROM.

Without S-OFF it can't be done at present - you'd have to go custom to remove the branding
Whatever you do, make sure you download the RUU for your phone now (Vodafone DE) so you can always go back if needed
Thank mate for that fast answer.
@DR.Marv
And, did the flah work, or...
