Change radio frequency range - Bada Software and Hacking General

Would it be possible to change the standard radio frequency range from 87.5 - 108 MHz for example to 85 - 110 MHz?
Some region firmware (asia or usa) of the samsung wave is using a different frequency range.

Don't think so
the Fm radio app isn't visible in usual cases after extracting Shpapp file
maybe it is stored at apps_compessed.bin which no one dares to touch
or maybe in Amss.bin which is a weak Probability as it seams to be the file holding things for Qualcom communication processor

User xsYCOx (Custom Firmware) will keep an eye on it

Any news about this?
Think the fm radio app is in apps_compressed.bin.
Ive tried to decrypt the file with wave remaker and searched for hints like "fm" "radio" and "mhz".
There are lots of hits but I dont know how to change the frequency range for fm radio ...

Are ROMs geographical location specific?

I am based in India and bought my XDA IIs here through a reseller of O2. I want to know that are the ROMs that are available on FTP channel of this site geographical location specific?
I want to choose the right Radio ROM to update my XDA IIs. I am a bit scared to do it though.
Thanks,
Siddharth

Welcome to the forum
Please take time to read wiki, the link you will find in my signature,
The roms are NOT "geographical location specific". they are made up of 3 parts. The OS or CE rom is the language that you use (WWE for english), The exteneded rom is the operator sepcifiv part. it gives you settings that are only good for one operator in one place (SMS number, Help line, web links) as well as freebies applications ZIP, PDF viewer. This can be cooked to your own needs (via wiki), The radio is a version number and the higest is thought to be the best, at the moment 1.12 is the higest but alot of people feel 1.10 is better. That is waht this forum is about, reading what has worked for others.
Please use the searc funtion at the top and have fun in wiki

FM Radio - Frequency change

Hello everybody,
does anyone know how to extend the frequency range of the FM Radio?
Down to 84 Mhz and up to 175Mhz would be perfekt .
Regards.
I do not think it is possible ...
PavelR.
it must be possible because the fm range in japan is from 76 mhz - 90 mhz. so it must be possible to go down to 85 mhz or so with a reg hack. can somebody how owns this ppc look into the reg if he finds an possible value or import the reg an load it up?
That would be great, if someone could find a solution
... wish you good luck
PavelR.
FMRadio hack
Hi,
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\FMRadio\FMPlayer\Band
0 = 87.5 - 108.0 MHz
1 = 64.5 - 97.5 MHz (11.5 MHz displayoffset !!! 76.0MHz(displayed) = 64.5MHz (Radiofrequency) )
2 = 76.0 - 91.0 MHz
175 MHz is'nt possible, but you can set frequency direct in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\FMRadio\FMPlayer\Channel
Value = MHz * 10 (=> 1100 = 110.0 MHz !)
Regards.
P.S. Sorry for my poor english.
... that is really nice. It works. Sorry for being so sceptic
PavelR.
mhmm but when i change the band, i have problems with the volume.
it is necessary to change volume after channel search to hear anything.
someone same probs?
Hi,
sorry, little error in my first post
new for Band = 1:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\FMRadio\FMPlayer\Band
1 = 64.5 - 97.5 MHz (11.5 MHz displayoffset !!! 76.0MHz(displayed) = 64.5MHz (true Radiofrequency) )
is it possible to enter 85.255 or 86.375 mhz an listen to them?
Thanks for that great info.
Still on this subject, is it possible to set the range to the aeronautical frequency (118MHz-136MHz)?
Do I have to set each frequecy 'by hand' in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\FMRadio\FMPlayer\Channel or is there a number that will give me that range in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\FMRadio\FMPlayer\Band?

I'm interested in that too...any solution ??

Maybe an extended fm radio cab for dummies like me would be of use?
Any idea how to tune 127,15 Mhz ?? (2 numbers after the decimal)
A slight problem with air freqs: they are AM and the program is called "FM Radio"
Maybe a 'tweak' can enable AM too ?
FM radio app sucks
I have the same problem as MrButcher. I don't know how it happens but after a while my radio stops functioning correctly.. If I switch channels, the sounds mutes. When I change my volume the sound comes back..
When I give my phone a hard-reset the problem disappears, to come back after a view days.
Anybody?
Dear all,
Could somebody let me know how to change the setting in the registry with Total Commander. I guess I´m to stupid to do this. May be it´s possible to give an information for newbies how to do this.

[Q] About Radio versions

hey all!!
i am using htc touch diamond indian version(no 3g)....
i switch operators often between BSNL & Airtel. I m using using radio 1.09.25.23 which is told best for Airtel...but as i switch operators which radio version will be best... i use gps too!
thanks alot!!!
The way I understand it is this, the radio is designed for a particular rilphone.dll when the carrier asks the manufacturer to design a radio-this is what defines what features go into the radio, hence the version numbers.
So, this in mind, what you want to find is a radio version used on both the networks you use-and then use the rilphone.dll bundled with that radio for best performance.
Can't really say much on GPS-since it's different to receiving mobile signals I'd say the performance shouldn't differ too much between versions, although AGPS might...
I'm not entirely sure but that's the best answer I can give you if anyone wants to correct or expand that'd be welcome

[Q] XPKG6 with 850Mhz UMTS?

Hi all, is there a way to enable the 850Mhz UMTS in the XPKG6 firmware as i am an Australian using Telstra's network. Due to the fact that we get left in the dark fairly frequently in regards to all updates from Telstra (current for us is 1.0) and Samsung, i am currently using the Brazilian BVJJK1 firmware as it is the latest firmware (1.02) that supports the frequencies i need. I'm not the only one having this issue as bruno2k7 also has this problem (link to his thread below). If anyone could shed some light on if or how this can be achieved i'm sure that there would be a lot of extremely grateful people out there.
Jingles.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193692
Please have you installed other firmwares and try to set the network manually? Maybe setting the network manually (instead of the default Automatic) may solve this problem.
Go to Settings => Connectivity => Network => Network mode => (and select the appropriate network in GSM or UMTS mode).
NB: I am refering you to bada 1.2 and not the beta bada 2.0. If all goes well in bada 1.2, hopefully you will enjoy same when bada 2.0 is officially releashed.
Thanks for you time on this spacks. So far i have tried The latest Brazilian firmware (BVJJK1), XXJL2, DDKD1, LUHJH1, XPKG5 and XPKG6. I have tried every setting i can think of in regards to swapping around the amss.bin files, different combos of the Bootfiles as well as the amss.bin, CSC, FFS, etc. The only thing that i have found that works so far i.e. actually boots and gives me full 850 UMTS is the complete BVJJK1 although i will try the LUHJH1 later tonight after work (unless somebody can reply between now and then that it doesn't support 850mhz). Your help on this one is immensely appreciated guys as if i can get it to work then i can update all my friends Wave's as well as we are all on Telstra (850mhz).
Regards Jingles.
Stupid idea...
Did you ever tried mix AMSS (amss.bin) from your country/operator with others Firmware?
AMSS is callprocessor part...
No idea if also apps_compressed is mandatory...
Best Regards

yeah tried that one too lol but thanks All i need is to somehow be able to use the current amss.bin file that i'm using from the Brazilian BVJJK1 firmware in one of the latest 2.0.1 firmwares. When i try it the phone just boot loops. Have been trolling through every page i can find on the topic but have had no luck finding anybody who has gotten this to work yet, although last night i did find a comment on whirlpool that said that my carrier (Telstra) might be looking at updating the waves in Australia to Bada 2.0, fingers crossed i guess.....
Hey all sorry for not getting around to posting a fix for this issue sooner. A few weeks ago i solved the issue i was having by taking a sledge hammer to my fone and smashing the absolute **** out of it.
I then went and bought an Android based handset. Problem solved.
Now before any of you want to go saying "Why not do that in the first place" the reason is this. I bought my handset in one of the first batch released in Australia with the promise from Samsung that Bada was going to be the next big thing or at least be a formidable opponent to iOS and Android. Instead what we were given was a POS that should have been called Beta not Bada. The Original wave offered an amazing hardware set only to be let down by a **** OS that we can't even port Android to. I haven't bothered looking in the topic on how the port for the wave is coming because i can guarantee that it's no better from the last time i looked (no offence to the guys working on this as i imagine you guys are going hell for leather trying to get this sorted. Many kudos guys.)
So good luck guys, i'll be laughing at the rest of you still trying to use your clunky BADA phones while i continue to tweak and update my latest update of Gingerbread.
Actually you were just unlucky
I think all the people who bought the 850mhz capable waves were unlucky...
Too bad you werent able to try even just bada 1.2 and i agree samsung shouldve done something about it.

It's simple , WiFiDirect i set to True... then I try this setting on S8500 device but... it did not work
Then here is my question: has the wifi chip need some specs to be compatible with wifi direct?

Good Question
You see that Wi-fi.org says that it's just a software upgrade and does not require a special chip cuz wave has 802.11 a/b/g/n

I tried as well, but same result
My theory: there is something implemented also in apps_compressed.bin. I had no time to explore but i think the key is right there.
hmmmmmmmmm
We need to do further research to understand this
Why no one said that "it is implemented in *.so files" ??
For instant i saw Wifi-direct in My files & Gallery apps
Most strange thing that *.so files from S8600 are away different from S8500
take MediaExplorer.so file as an example
From S8500...About 400 kb
From S8600...About 30 kb !
Why this big difference ?!
Maybe i thought in the wrong direction and functions are implemented in S8600 Apps_comressed.bin
What i am sure of that the file holding System Info has nothing to do with Phone functions ....It is made for apps like badaSI
Best Regards
