Does anyone know of a way to switch the gmail account used by Talk?
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
(Under this menu you do 3 different things
1.) Gmail->Clear Data
2.) Gmail Storage->Clear Data
3.) Google Apps->Clear Data
I tried it and cleared Gmail data but couldnt find the other two so gave up...not sure if it works or not,

So, back when I first got my Incredible, my Google apps account didn't work with checkout, google voice etc... so to effectivly use my phone I had to also use my true gmail account.
When I look into Accounts & Sync, as I understand it, the FIRST google account listed is the first one assigned to the phone.
Mine are ordered as:
[email protected]
[email protected]
HOWEVER, my gtalk is signed into mydomain.com's account. Back when the first 2.2 leak came out, I did a wipe and fresh install of 2.2 (after dutifully performing a nandroid) and could not get GMAIL to be my first account and still use gtalk with mydomain.com.
Is there a trick to this? Some special order/way to sign into gmail first, but attach these add-on apps (i.e. voice and gtalk) to my google apps account?
TIA for any tips...
I'm "ok" right now, but there WILL be a time when I want to start fresh, and when I do that I worry I'll never get it set back up the same way I am now.
I *could* just use my apps account, except I purchased a few apps and would hate loosing them / having to re-buy them and/or asking all the developers for refunds so I could repurchase under my apps account.
Hi All
The main account on my Desire Z is the account I use for my business, which was setup as a google apps account, it works fine for email etc but was never able to be used for Picasa or other google applications.
However, they have just recently transitioned google apps accounts and now they can access all the google applications, however to get them working on your phone, the google website says I'd need to backup my phone, remove the account, factory reset and then readd the account...
I'm not sure I like the sound of this as potentiall I could lose things if I've not backed everything up etc...
Is there anyway I can do this without having to do a full reset? So I can use the newly accessible apps likes picasa etc
Thanks
I am having the same issue - my calendar no longer sync's correctly as it's still attached to the me%[email protected] address, even though it displays the 'merged' account [email protected] Very frustrating!

If you're worried about losing things because you haven't backed everything up then back everything up, it's pretty simple.
Download Titanium Backup or My Backup Pro and back up your apps and data; after you reset your phone, restore your apps and data

I realise that but was just wondering if a reset was actually necessary or not?

I’m running a gingerbread build and I can just go to Accounts & Sync and add a new gmail account and remove the old one.
I don’t know if that’s what you mean though.
Hi Every 1,
I have my company gmail registered to my phone
Now I no longer in my old company so I wanted to delete the gmail account
But it does not allow me to remove the account & the error message that I received is:-
"
This ccount is required by some applications> You can only reove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults( which deletes all of your personal data). You do that in Settings, under SD & phone storage.
"
I tried to check and HTC Market is the 1 that keep on asking me to relog my company gmail but this email has already deactivated by company
I could not delete the account yet unable to relog the company gmail
Any 1 can help to share some idea besides master reset the whole cell phone?
Thanks
So my first guess would be... that company gmail your trying to get rid of is also the same gmail that your phone is setup with, if this is infact the case, maybe try adding another google account first, and swaping everything in the phone to the account i.e. market, and google sync, and then try deleting, if that doesn't work, simply add another google account, set up everything on that account, and under accounts and sync, uncheck all of the sync options for the old google account, try deleting it again then, or just leave it there to rot and do nothing
Hi,
Noted your advice
But I could not find a way to switch my company gmail to my personal gmail in market.
This may be 1 of the limitation that Android faced
Just backup everything and do a factory reset. Bwahahahah *evil laugh*
Oopps, I went a little overboard there, sorry.
But that's the easiest way to do it.

after a new account is added, market, menu, accounts, should get a popup, window that allows you to select which account to use. Now you are going to lose anything that you previously had purchased on the other google account, maybe a way to contact google and have them transfer purchases or something.
Thanks all,
But I believe the best method that drpsyko said is correct. Master reset it.
To xx_bluedev_xx,
I had tried many ways but still unable to have any pop outs says for me to switch email
You cant remove the email account used to set up device. Only way is factory reset.

stock messaging app in Sense 3 provides backup option , you can backup your contacts by going to people>Menu>Export
alternatively you can use MyBackup Pro, its v good when it comes to resetting your device

1: I've been running an ICS theme on my epic 4g touch for a little while and I'm looking into installing a ROM to improve speed and battery life. I've been struggling to choose between the most current version of Blazer, or Unnamed. They seem relatively similar apart from the fact that if I get Unnamed I'll have to flash an ICS theme over it, but I'd like opinions from everyone.
2: I understand for both of those ROMs you must wipe your phone. I have no issue with wiping apps as they can be reinstalled, but I need my contacts. I don't have an SD card and would prefer to not have to buy one, so is there any method to backing up my contacts that I could retrieve them post flashing?
Thanks in advance
1. I don't have either of those so can't help with that.
2. if you have a Gmail account set up you can back up contacts. its in accounts and sync under settings. just be sure to go online into your Gmail account to check. I thought I was backed up before and wasn't.

I've tried syncing the contacts to gmail before but when I checked the account, none of my contacts were there.
ya I believe I fixed it by going to accounts and sync. then clicked on the google account. unchecked all. then checked only contacts and hit sync now. if that doesn't work try removing account and then add it again. sorry I don't know of any third party way to backup the contacts.
The trick is to get all of your email contacts into Gmail on your PC even if you have to manually enter each one. Then they will sync automatically to your phone and you won't have to back anything up. If you use Outlook on your computer, I think there's a way to export your contacts into gmail with a csv file. I couldn't tell you how to do it but you should be able to find out by searching in Google forums. I did mine all manually when I first started using android and I've never had to back up anything. Google does it for me. I know this will sound really strange, but to get them all to sync to Gmail and into my phone contacts list, I had to enter a fake email address for the contacts I only had a phone number for. Now I can flash and wipe my phone all I want and all my email and phone contacts sync again as soon as my phone connects to Google servers. I have them stored on my sd card, too, but I never need to restore them from it. Make sure you have two way sync turned on in your Gmail account on your computer. If you want gmail to pull in all of your other email accounts such as Comcast or hotmail, you can set that up on your computer too in Gmail account settings. I get all my mail in Gmail now and don't even use the other email client on my phone.
When you create a contact it will give you 2 options. 1 to backup internal 2 to backup to Google. It seems you selected internal so you need to go to contacts and go through the menus until you switch all contacts to Google then do your sync through settings. Best of luck if your still having issues do a titanium backup.. but like the poster said above as long as you save your contacts to Google in the future it makes going from rom to rom a breeze

Sweet, thanks everyone. I've got my contacts onto Gmail. Anyone have opinions regarding Unnamed vs. Blazer?
There's also a way to backup manually your contact list. In contacts program hit menu then export. It saves the file as 00001.icf in the root of your sd card. After you export, use a file manager to go and make sure the file is there before proceeding. You could then copy it to your computer or email it as an attachment to yourself.
Or it could be .vcf I forgot
So, I am running JIBwich's ICS ROM, but do not think this is ROM related. My calendar stopped syncing, so I deleted the data under Calendar and Calendar Storage. When I first went back in to the Calendar, it asked if I would like to add an account. I told it Existing of course, but when enter the Google account info that is already on the phone elsewhere (GMail, G+, Docs etc), it tells me it is already there. So I go back and hit Not Now, and I have a blank calendar. If I go into the calendar settings, I have no calendars to select to sync with. How can I correct this?
Edit: When I go to Accounts & Sync, and select my Google account, shouldn't Calendar be one of the options with a check box? I do not see it in there...
Anyone...?
More info on this: If I goto www.google.com/calendar on my phone, it also shows no entries, but if I goto the calendar from a PC it shows everything... what has happened???
Can anyone even confirm that is running ICS if Calendar is suppose to be under your account in Accounts & Sync in the settings? This is driving me mad!
...is this thing on...? Bump!
Well, not sure why it worked this time, but did the super wipe, reflashed JIBwich and latest gapps(2012-02-24) and now Calendar is back under Accounts & Sync and all is good.
I have the same problem with my Desire running ICS but I don't want to wipe everything to fix it.
Well, I am not sure of any other solution. As mentioned, after a wipe, the Calendar does show up under the Google accounts in Accounts & Sync. This started after clearing data from Calendar and Calendar Storage. When I did the first wipe, I let it do the auto restore of account info, but whatever problem I had with the Calendar must have been restored. So I did the second wipe and told it not to restore, and all was well.
