According to Apple patent investigator Patently Apple, the Cupertino based king of patent trolling has filed for a new facial unlock detection patent. Seriously, Apple? You don’t even have facial recognition technology out to the public yet, but your competitor does and you file for a patent on it? I mean, come on. We get that you hate Android with a passion, however, this just looks pathetic.
If you glance over the fancy little stick-figured depiction of this new technology, you will see that it matches up almost perfectly to what the same feature does in Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Let’s see, it says that the device will look for eyes and a mouth in normal locations, analyze weight differences, and then unlock if it matches up to the one on file. Yeah, that’s exactly how Android’s face unlock works.

Yeah. Believe it or not, I almost got an iPhone and instead got this phone since it was $30 at Costco. iPhone can't beat that price lol. After I got it, I was so glad I did. I had my iPod touch jailbroken, but that has nothing on this.

Google is that big cuddley guy and one day that big cuddley guy is going to snap and take over the world and replace everyone with robots but look at the Android users and say "thanks for the service" and leave us be and those apple guys are going to get what's coming to them. Only reasonable thing that could happen.

I just read about AppHole hiring the guy that made the jailbreak program.
Kind of like when US hired Openhimre. Not much good can come from that.
At least the other guys won't have access to the code.
It's funny that newer devices have denied access to user upgradeable storage memory.
I thought that was an AppHole copyright.

I never said it wasn't the #1 sport in the world.
I will put this forward though, maybe it is the #1 sport in the world because all it requires is a ball and your foot to be able to play. Because of this just about anyone can play it and get into it whereas most other sports require a lot of equipment and cannot be played or enjoyed by as many because of that.

And how do you spect some people to take your first comment, just cause 99% of americans are not into soccer, it means the sport sucks, they claim their sports ar better just cause they're not culturized enough to open their views towards other cultures, english is not the only language in this world, your sports are not the only ones played, only in your country are number one, american football, baseball are not worldwide sports that doesnt state they generaly suck even if i think that they potentially do, point is keep the fact of generaly criticize something to yourself on a topic that obviously you dont care, yet you had to stick your nose into it

I want to start porting QNX for the kindle. I love the swiping gestures like webOS.
I have the build of qnx for the TI OMAP 4430 (which the kindle has) and i have the 6.3 update zip from Amazon. Im not really sure exactly what im doing so if i could get help. I believe this is very possible.

QNX as Blackberry's Tablet OS?

LOL!
I'm posting this from my PlayBook
If you want TabletOS, you should just buy a Playbook; at the same price as the KFire, and you can buy my Tablet TV app
I don't think you could get QNX onto the Fire. RIM has the PlayBook pretty well locked down.
PS - QNX isn't technically the same thing as TabletOS. TabletOS is QNX, but not all QNX systems are RIM tablets.
Technically you could port qnx to the fire, but only if you were a rim engineer... qnx is closed source and without them I see the port a mission impossible....
What do you mean by you have the "build" of QNX? Because QNX is closed-source I am trying to figure out what you meant by the "build", if you have the source and it's possible, if all you have is the device that runs QNX, not possible!

I just took a quick look online and it appears that QNX is/was open source. It was a Canadian company that was bought out by RIM. But, when RIM bought them they removed most of the code from the open source world, however there is still an online community that has some builds, including one for the TI 4430 chip. Checkout QNX Wiki. It seems like this could be entirely possible. I'm no developer, but hopefully this is a step in the direction you are thinking. Thanks for innovating.
I don't know much about this QNX but as for the CM7/CM9 Rom that we are having, JackPot did a binary port, meaning that the only way to get a rom is to port it from a similar device, which is why we still don't have HoneyComb running on our Kindle Fire. But I'm not entirely sure until I see the "build" that we are having! But even if that is possible we're gonna' need an expert on this, which is in someway impossible since all the great devs are focusing on Kernel 3.0 and make ICS flawless!
But you could try porting WebOS because now it's open-source .

Im not even out of high school so i dont know much but am willing to learn and am very interested in supporting all the devs that work hard to enhance our products.

Yup, that's what open-sourced Android is all about, but it's not a disaster if we can't do this somehow!

If RIM goes under, you may get your wish. HP went under and the result was that WEBOS was open-sourced.
NOTE: before i begin i want to say that im NOT bashing anyone or any developers!!! i love them and thank them for everything that they have done to make android what it is!!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!
now to begin..
do you guys think that both software and hardware (at least in the mobile world) are moving too fast?
Hardware:i mean look at the tegra series, with Wayne, Grey, Logan, and last but not least Stark (definitely not least; it is projected to 75 times stronger then tegra2) . and now we have a $200 tablet with a quadcore CPU with 178 degree viewing angle. that runs better then a $500 tablet! YES, thats right the nexus 7 run better (as in it is smoother, higher benchmark, and games will run better, less lag) then the asus transformer prime!!!!
Software: look how much has change between gingerbread (2.3.7) and jellybean (4.1). it has grown to be sooooo much. and developers (this is what im talking about at the top... im NOT bashing) but they can't keep up, and not only the people making custom ROMs but OEMs cant keep up. the jellybean SDK is out (and hopefully soon the source will be too) and we dont even have ICS! and look at cyanogen mod they brought ICS nightlies to a few specific devices but soon ICS will be an old version of android. and hopefully they will try to keep up with android. the code keeps changing so developers (like CM, AOKP, and straight AOSP) have to relearn the source code.
the mobile world is changing at a amazing rate and things will never be the same
again im NOT bashing i thank everyone
The devs here are ahead of the manufacturers. It's not really that it's moving so fast, it's just that the manufacturers are behind. Think about it, as a company, would you continue to lay out to your employees to update a phone that you're no longer selling (making money on)?
Realize that the Google phones (nexus etc) are receiving jelly bean, etc as they are built...

yes the one specific device that google planned the hardware for....
but...
look at CM7 it got to a lot of devices (stable) ( i think between 60 and 80) but CM9 has gotten to a select few ( not stable but nightlies) and there is a new version of android that hopefully they will move to
I personally think either the OEMs need to pick up the pace and make a commitment to the customers that they will support their phones for 24 months and that if a new version of android drops. They will have it available for download to that device within. 6months of release. What does this mean for the OEM. They would have to hire more quality employes that can code and bust ass. Or Google needs to pish back releases from once a year to once every 18 months or so. I personally feel the oems should rise up and start making some waves and getting g these updates and phone knocked out. They could do it if they wanted. But they don't want to hire more employees and **** cause that would cut into profits. This k about it. If there was a team of 8-10 devs per device for a manufacturer. Their sole job would be to keep that device updated with the latest software. Once the 24 month mark hit the device. Move them to another new device and start again. Yeah it would cost more. But it would make for happy customers and happy customer buy more phones from you.

I don't think it's moving to fast. I'm a firm believer that tech companies have tech that to us would be 5 years advanced, but they're just sitting on it to stretch it out and milk the money.

Probably most of you didn't catch the Reddit post about Linus's talk recently, but I do agree with him on one thing. "Nvidia, **** you (flips the camera the bird)!"
http://m.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2012/06/torvalds-nvidia-linux/
LOL
" Then he took a bit of shot at Microsoft — the historical rival of Linux. He said that Linux is the only operating system that uses the same kernel across all devices — and that this includes Microsoft Windows. “Nobody has ever done that before,” he said. “[Microsoft] claims they’re trying to [create a single kernel with] Windows 8. They’re lying. They’re not. They’re full of ****.”"
I love Linus for not being afraid to speak his mind wherever that might be.
the only reason i choose the tegra series is because the majority of people know about it and they are very powerful chips

Wow!!! I never noticed that.
I have to agree??? I think that it is moving too fast. You cant even hold a phone for 6 months now with out it being outdated. The nexus was supposed to be the top android phone, and I think google dropped the ball on that with the nexus s, and then they started making them carrier specific, which ruins the freaking point of having a nexus. Now you have samsung releasing "s voice" before google releases "google now", samsung releasing a quad core before google, blah, blah, blah..... I dont know. The majority of phones dont have ICS yet, but here comes google releasing JB. OEMs have been fu**ing off "trying" to release ICS, now they have another hurdle to get over. I dont even care anymore. Hell, I have been looking at buying another samsung moment just to have boring again.

I would have been inclined to agree with you 4 years ago...now, not so much. Android is painfully easy now. In fact, a lot of things are even easier than iOS until Apple steals more "innovations" from Android and Windows Phone for iOS 6.

Apple makes great products, they innovate and when they don't they compensate with their design, packaging, marketing and branding which is world class, appealing even sexy. Then they start dictating what you can and cannot do with their stuff, after you've paid a premium price for it, and that's where they lose me.

Uuuuh, 2 huge things I can think of off the top of my head.
1. Only allowed to download Apple approved apps from the app store, no side loading.
2. Entire file system is not accessible by the user.
Just these two put up some huge barriers for people who want to do whatever they want with the hardware, and furthers the idea that they only let you do what they want you to do.
