Hey guys.
Maybe somebody could help me with my problem. I debraned my DHD from T-mobile some month ago... rooted it, installed Bootloader, Rom Manger and Clockwork recovery...
all works fine... then i installed Leedroid 2.3.2.. all worked fine, system was stable.
Then some weeks ago, i noticed, that my touchscreen doenst work anymore... I turned the phone off, took the accu out w8 some mins, rebooted over CW.. then it wokred again...
today i got a phonecall, wanted to take it... again... no reaction from the touchscreen or the keys down.... i tried all today, wiped all data, did a recovery, installed new ROM's.. nothing worked.. the volume buttons and the power button did work... i dunno what to do anymore?
i already flashed a RUU over it... still the same
Maybe anbdy got some ideas?

Sounds like a hardware fault to me.

Has to be Hardware Related, if it was anything to do with the Software than there would have been more than one instance of this error, which I have never seen nor heard off, but also wiping the phone should fix the problem, also given the pattern the phone followed if working then breaking, it deffinatley sounds like a temperamental fault. Hope I helped.

Yep, a long winded version of exactly what I said. ;-)

Depending on where you bought it from, contact HTC or your Carrier, however if you bought it from a shop that sells phones on behalf of a Carrier then you will have to take it to there.
So basically what I'm saying is, contact the place where you got the phone from, it has a 12 month warranty which means all Desire HD's to date are still covered.
Sorry, I don't know what country you are from, but in the UK we have a shop called 'The Carphone Warehouse', they sell phones on a selection of different networks, and they sell you an unlocked phone, with the carrier SIM in. In this case, you would contact the shop, NOT the carrier, as it's the shops phone? Sorry if I have confused you.
Well lucky for you, you can revert the phone back to stock without needing to use the touchscreen. Make sure you flash a official ROM and do ENG S-ON before sending it in for repair.

Now its just stuck on the O2 logo boot screen and won't go any further!
I've tried the recovery mode and that just does the same! Is there anyway I can recover from this?!?!? Nothing new has been downloaded, its not rooted (I was going to do though!)
Can I get it working again... any help (and links needed!) would be gratefully appreciated...
Yours, a worried person!
PS if any more info is needed to help, just let me know.
I've had the same thing as this but not write as severe. My unlocked Desire reboots itself when being charged and using navigation. After about 10 minutes of use, it reboots.
I phoned HTC UK who confirmed that this was a known issue. They told me that the solution was to change the main board. They also told me that I should live with it for the time being as they only had 15 boards in stock and so, I may be without a phone for a little while.
BTW mine is running 2.2 and still reboots.

Mine was doing the same - either try an official RUU (didnt work for me) or try flashing a PB99IMG (worked for me the first time - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747775).
Mine got past the boot screen after i did this, but after a few hours it did the same thing & this time the PB99IMG method failed for me.
Gave mine in for repair today - they told me it would take 2-4 weeks!
@scorror sorry, mine isn't on o2, its on three.co.uk. It was part of their first batch which were unlocked/ unbranded with OTA Froyo a couple of weeks ago.

How old is it? And was it on O2? I've got a feeling a lot are doing this? My friends at work (also O2) is rebooting its self at least 3 times a week for no good reason!
Did they give you a loan phone while yours is in for repaire? Mine is just over 2 months old, I'll be pissing and moaning to get it replaced and not repaired.
Have you tried contacting o2?
PS tried the PB99IMG.zip method, it went all the way through, but failed on the CID check at the end, and just asked for a reboot. Does anyone have a link to an O2 download of the zip and not the Generic HTC one?? Long shot I know...

going to take it into them today and see what they say. If it wasn't branded I reckon I could have recovered it with the PB99IMG... So annoy...

This is the only available RUU for O2 phones:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra..._32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_124865.exe
There's a good chance that this won't install, as most O2 phones seem to have more recent software than this.
But if you haven't rooted or changed your ROM and the phone won't boot or go into recovery it sounds more like a hardware fault.

Well, tried that, and its now totally goosed!!! It started to go through the install of the new (well downgraded image) and then it sat on waiting for bootloader for ages, then said it had lost connection with the phone. I wont even turn on now. I dont get an orange light to say its charging from mains power like I used to do.
It has to be hardware related, as like you say, ots not rooted, it was the same ROM that shipped with the phone, its just, for want of a better word... F*****! Went into an O2 shop this arvo, but it was way too busy so didn't even get chance to see what they could do (exchange/repair) like I keep saying... Soooooo damn annoyed its untrue. 1st phone I've ever had that I couldn't recover in some way...
If you call HTC they will arrange a repair. O2 will just send it off to them anyway.

Was the same up to today, mainly rebooting when charging in the car with GPS on, but rebooted 6 times today when using tinternet at work.
Called HTC who are collecting next Monday to replace mainboard!!!!
Told in will take a few days to a week to do. Will have to use old touch diamond for these few days!!
To add to this:
I downloaded a battey temp monitor, and my Desire turned off in the car on 22oc, 26oc, 28oc & 30oc. It turned off when using normally mainly when HSDPA connection was present, but not always, and temps have been anything up tp 36oc.
More:
Unit was fine for the first month or so, and started after. Rebooting has been present on 2.1 and 2.2, but getting worse (which htc said also)
I did a hard reset earlier today but still the same, if not worse!
Running 2.2 now, phone was from mobiles.co.uk and was one of the first
It runs fine most of the time strangely enough though
well took it into O2 today, on the paper work I got back it said Repair Agent: Anovo UK Repairs. Repair or replace 7-10 working days.
Not sure if the above can't fix it will I just get a refurbished one, or will they send it to HTC to fix.. who knows at this point... who knows...

The lying gits made out to me that they had never heard of such a problem!! Mine has gone back to them as it was driving me nuts, the alternative would have been it bouncing of a wall!
Andrew
I've read quite a few threads about Desires rebooting on their own, and people having to send their phones to service because of defective motherboards.
My Desire's symptoms are a bit different: Every now and then it gets stuck while I leave it charging (while not using it). It doesn't react to any buttons, and the only way to get it going again is to take the battery out and in again.
What do you think, is it the same fault.... defective motherboard??
If I do have to send it for service, there's another problem: I need to get the Desire back to stock condition (so the service will be done under warranty).
Could you please help me with the procedure?
My phone is currently rooted, s-off'd, I've also flashed a new custom ROM and kernel.
I bought my phone here in Finland and it's non-branded one. Sadly I didn't backup my stock ROM before I flashed the first custom one, so I'm not sure which stock RUU to use?
Thanks in advance...
Hi,
This is also becoming an issue for me, increasing often its stuck when I pick it up in the morning.
At first I thought it was my Rom, radio or kernel but I have tried auraxt (various), oxygen, leedroid, baadnewz dhd, and defrost. Every radio from .44 to .54 and just about every kernel recommend
Any help is much appreciated.

Mine too :-( exactly the same, frozen, need to pull battery.
I've tried calling it from another phone and it stays dead but the calling tone is heard :O
Happens 2 or 3 times a week, over the last 3 months, hasn't got any worse.
Strange thing is it seems to happen on weekend mornings!

It seems as though I may have fixed my Desire....
I decided to try install a different kernel, and since then I haven't had a single problem with my phone. Knock on wood...
Which did you use?

My current kernel is "Kernel_Froyo_bfs_V5f_1113Mhz".
The problem was quite annoying. I basically couldn't leave the phone on charger during night, cause' I was too afraid it would get stuck and not wake me up for work.
But now I'm a very happy camper...
Hey guys,
writing to you because of a friend's wildfire s (Unbranded!, Software Version was: 1.33.401.2)
She told me that the phone became very slow and so on, so I told her it would be good to update to newest software (if that would not pleasure her, we could try a costum rom).
So I tried it via OTA, but the phone kept telling me it was up to date for days.
So I thought why not updating it the old method via RUU. I grabbed "RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe" somewhere from the internet, did everything as described there and the update went flawlessly, it told me from 1.33.401.2 to 2.13.401.2 as expected
I got the message that the flash was successful and that the phone needs to reboot. So did it, but now it's just dead.
The only thing it does is flashing the screen up (it's still black, just the backlight's on) and then it switches of again - that happens in circles, on and on - nothing more, no splash screen, no chance to get into bootloader.
It seems like its totally smashed up? I really don't know why regarding the fact that the flash went flawlessly and that everything seemed to fit to me (or did I chose the wrong RUU? - Dont think so )
What will be the next steps? I think there's nothing more I can do, it's HTC's time now or not? Do they repair such devices/cases under warranty?
Thank you guys for your help and please don't forgive me my bad english, it's late here in Germany

I don't recall anyone recovering from this. It looks like the ruu didn't run properly and flashed a bad/corrupt radio If you have warranty, i suggest you go claim it
Problem is, hat about one week ago i changed her digitizer because it was broken. Doing that, i had To remove
The void-sticker.
We all Here know that The issue is Not related to my work (Yes? D) but What will htc do? I guess they wont do anything and just send it back with void warranty? :/

I've stumpled upon some ebay offers for jtag bootloader repair for about 30-40€ - this should work as well I think, did you make any experience with that in the past?
Thanks a lot mate, your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I rooted my One x about a month ago and all was great using ARHD rom.
I installed Ice Cold Jelly's AOKP jellybean rom and not soon after everyone who I spoke to on calls could not hear me speak.
I called my land line from the mobile and there was terrible interference and crackling, so much so I couldn't hear anything at all on the call, however it sounded perfect on the handset end.
I tried 3 other jellybean roms but the problem remained, I did a full wipe and cache/dalvik erase on each installation.
I finally went back to the ARHD rom that was fine previously and the problem still remains
Anyone come across this before? I feel it may be a hardware fault and it is just coincidence I installed a new rom, but i think i'm going to have a hard time getting it exchanged/repaired with the unlocked bootloader.
Thanks for any help !
Hi!
I have a similar issue. I rooted my phone the day i got it and used ARHD, no problems. A few days back i flashed ViperX. Im now on v2.7.0 and here comes the problem:
When i call someone or when i am called, my partner can hear me but i cannot hear them. I have to turn on the speaker to hear them and have the phone call.
I was wondering if this is a ROM problem or a HTC problem. The thing is i cant prove because i have never used locked stock rom in the first place... Does anyone have an idea what this might be?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Hi everyone!
I took some time this weekend to look into this problem again. I tried different roms, including different ICS and JB and even went back to stock (nand backup from first day). No success, still no sound from the front speaker when calling.
While flashing i tried both with sim card in the phone and without, i always did full wipe and flashed boot.img from fastboot. Still not working. No app that needs this speaker works, i also tried skype and talk. So i am out of options now. Is there anything i can do? Would it help to flash a different kernel?
I guess the hardware got broken somewhere along the line. Would HTC fix it under warrenty? Does anyone have experiences with that?
Thanks again for all your kind help! I know this might be cross posting but im going to try and get my problem solved in other threads as well.
Regards heintosz..
Don't know much about the issue, but if you unlocked bootloader(which you did, otherwise you were not be able to install custom roms) your warranty is void.
Sorry to tell you that.
Inviato dal mio HTC One X con Tapatalk 2
Yeah i thougth so, but still, is all warranty void or just software warranty? Do they make a difference? I guess i'll have to call HTC service and ask them, see if that helps...
As far as I know there is just the hardware warranty...and when you've unlocked bootloader your phone s/n is registered on htc dev so no chance that a new lock and system restore will revert your warranty. Call them and report back any news, who knows

I think this is misleading. Asking for a key and using it are different actions.
However, when you relock, the bootloader says relocked, not locked. So they can tell.
Many people with relocked bootloaders manage to get warranty repairs.
Didn't hear anything around about this...I should tell it to our support here in Italy, a friend of mine had to pay a repair fee for an internal memory fault 3 weeks after unlocking bootloader even after we managed to restore all defaults and re-lock the bootloader

It appears to depend on country, service centre, support guy, whether he's had his coffee or a fight with missus, phase of the moon, etc.
Hey all,
I want to call HTC and get them to fix my phone (hopefully free). It's under warranty and after the JB update it is simply unresponsive. I've tried all kinds of roms, stock RUU, etc, no fix. So maybe it's a hardware thing. Either way, I want to know how to get them to think I haven't broken my warranty (the global warranty).
So, i install stock RUU and lock the bootloader, but don't they know that I unlocked it in the first place?
Anyone who's worked with them, please let me know how to deal with them and make it seem like I haven't flashed the crap out of my phone.

what is the problem that makes you send it for repair? If it's a hardware problem then it's them who are going to fool you.
currently the only way to fool them is S-Off the phone, which is not possible.

Well I stated the problem in the original thread. It's unresponsive, screen flickers, etc. I'm looking for someone that's sent a phone to them that has had a bootloader unclocked and relocked and still got the warranty.
I sent my HTC Sensation away when the touchscreen became inop, but my telco was the one that approved the repair and HTC's local agent did the repair, and that was s-off, unlocked and rooted; got it back repaired and with the exact same data as when it left.
Mind you I'm in the backwater the world calls Oz.
I sent my HOX twice with "Relocked" bootloader for wifi and "screen flex" problem, and they have done no problem!
The 80-90% of the relocked devices with HW issues will be repaired with no problems.
Obviously if your problem is an SW software they will NEVER repair your phone
