So i have been recently flashing cm7 builds since RC1 and now I'm using the stable build that they have just released awhile ago. I have been experiencing bad signal and poor 3g connection along with sporadic signal loss and signal gains. Before I have had better connections than this. I have been reading around and I'm not sure if its either the ROM or my radio, PRI, baseband versions. I have never touched them since I bought my device, so I was wondering if they were out of date / needed updating. What are they exactly and should I be updating them frequently ? I know its a high possibilty to brick phones by updating a bad radio, PRI.. but if i could solve this bad connection problem how would I go about updating all of this? What exactly should I be updating?
baseband version
2.15.00.09.01
PRL version
60671
i dont really know what more I should put in to help you gain a better understanding of my situation.
Thanks for your help.

You can flash the combo at the top to update your wimax, and radio, along with PRI&NV. You flash in recovery, just wipe dalvik and cache.
As for PRL, backup your current rom, flash a sense rom, then click update profile from system, then flash back.
download from here:

Instructions here:
http://geekfor.me/faq/flash-a-radio-update-sprint-evo-4g/
Those are def not the most recent.
Most recent (released) radio ends in 11.19
PRL is 60677
PRI an nv are 1.90.003, if you're on 1.77 though, you might want to leave it, people ahve reported battery issues with 1.90.
What rom should I flash to update the PRL?
Most sense ROMs will work
Azrael
Myn Warm RLS 5
MikFroyo
Sprint Lovers
Stock Rooted, etc
Just make sure it's not Sense 2.0.
Does this work with clockworkmod? I heard this doesn't support amend writing. Is the baseband version ending in 00.04.08 is the latest? if so can someone provide a link for me? Should I flash the radio, wimax, pri, etc before I flash the sense rom and update my prl? So I just go into my recovery and flash the zip file? I'm not comfortable with the combo, so I might do it one by one. Is there a specific order that I should flash these?
bump......
Possible answer to lost 3g
I thought it was the new ....04.08 radio that was released for the GB ROM that leaked, which I flashed (Tmartin's). However, I have been having the issue for a day or two now and my neighbor who has an unrooted stock EVO shift 4g and his wife has a Palm Pre and they asked ME if I was having issues with data/phone calls too the past day. Long story short, I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM's of late anyways(can't speak for the past), I think it is Sprint PERIOD.
I live in Baltimore and it seems people across the country whether rooted or not are having issues.
I don't think it will flash in clockwork.
You could always just flash the sprint lovers all in one update ROM.

You can use a version prior to 3+ of clockwork which doesn't use edify scripting.
That is correct. Thanks.
so i can just flash these zips through recovery? im might use amon ra through rom manager. is it wise to flash the 2.15.00.04.08 baseband if i could find it? or is it for some leaked GB ROM... is myns warm 2.2 rls5 okay for updating prl? it requires that i need to update the radio/wimax. or is sprint lovers easier?

Yes I searched for this but got lost...sorry!
So I unrooted my EVO to prepare for the upcoming froyo update. PRI is the 1.3 one...am I just hoping that it upgrades the PRI to 1.4 or should I wait to install froyo until PRI FIX!
A better question is why the f%$^ would you unroot your phone?
this doesnt belong in the dev forum however. Currently there is no known way to fix your PRI. Including updating to froyo at least the version floating around now.
not sure why you would unroot your phone you can already put a root friendly version of froyo on your phone so no need to wait.
Thanks for the input. Not sure why this would not belong here when rooting is the PRI culprit to start with? Anyways I unrooted simply because after experimenting...it is just not for me. I don't feel any further justification is needed. My question was a simple one for a true developer I thought. I guess I will just update the OTA FROYO and cross my fingers?

Hey, I bet this would be better accepted over here:

Unrooted android = iPhone with smaller market and widgets, lol
Some suggestions for asking where your question should go:
- Where did you get the PRI/etc.? Maybe you should post in that thread.
- Since you're using a stock ROM and I'm sure you d/l'd it from somewhere, maybe you should post in that thread
- Your question might be best answered by a developer but it's not "development"
Just my 0.02c.
Seriously omegasun18 why would you unroot your ph, u should know it's only a matter of time when our good old buddies here post a custom rom base on the official update. You can go ahead and install/ update to 2.2 if you want. Am still rooted and running the stock 2.2, my PRI is 1.34_003, have not en-counted any issue at this point..

Maybe not for you specifically or some others, but there is deff a difference and it does effect some users in some areas.
Heres a link to the PRI thread where it has been discussed in the Q&A section for you to read up on and see the things the PRI actually does.

You could simply wait for a rooted release to be given here. It will be the same rom, only you won't possibly be perma-****ed. You could give it a try, see if it updates the PRI, and if it doesn't then you could install the official OTA. Just realize, you could easily be closing the door to root forever and you have no way of knowing.

OTA v1.47 included PRI 1.40, as does OTA froyo. The newly released froyo does not update PRI beyond 1.40 which was included before in OTA 1.47.

If you are root you will have PRI 1.34. PERIOD. PRI is tied to HBOOT, and the only rooted HBOOT we have is the ENG HBOOT with PRI 1.34. I've you still have a hardon to change your PRI, the only way it's going to happen is if you are NOT ROOT.
As far as I know I am not rooted...HBOOT 0.79.0000...and connectbot denies adb permissions etc. The only change from stock is that PRI 1.3 which has my data transfer all whacked up...and very inconsistent. Some say the PRI has little weight in the Android scheme of things but on my end it does in a big way...
If infact you have to have 1.3 to root then I guess I am only left with taking my chance that the OTA updates the PRI to 1.4. I live in the area where hurricane Katrina busted us up and this may have a direct impact on why my particular setup runs better with the newer PRI.

This is incorrect. No update includes any PRI except for the eng-HBOOT. And the PRI included with it is 1.34. Check your facts, because someone follow you blindly.

Wrong again. Once you root using the eng-HBOOT you will have PRI 1.34, whether or not you are rooted. Sprint has not released the 1.40 PRI yet, and know one knows when they will. I pretty sure if the new 2.2 froyo update included PRI 1.40, everyone experiencing issues with PRI 1.34 would have found their solution.
So to sum it up. Once you have 1.34 you are stuck with 1.34, unless you return your phone or a dev gets someone in sprint to release the 1.40 PRI.

I had the same issue with 1.34, many on this forum and other forums have the same issue that you are reporting, but those that do not have the issue say that there is none. I would take back the phone, and since you will have 1.47 software when you get your new phone, only do unrevoked3 method or keep it stock.
When I had PRI 1.34 my speeds and connectivity was horrible 20Kbps to 90Kbps was on a good day. With my new phone and PRI 1.40 my speeds and connectivity are phenomenal with .96Mbps to 1.4Mbps on a bad day.

With all these new sense roms out im wanting to check them out. Ive been running CM6 and now CM7 nighties for a while. I flashed my radios when i first rooted and flashed fresh 3.4. Ive read alot about flashing radios messing up phones. So i have been real unsure on flashing them again. When you flash one of these new roms is it a MUST to flash the new radios, or is it preferred? Does a nandroid back up your current radio? and how important is it to keep your radios updated. I just want to be clear as can be on this issue. Thanks

It does seem that all of the new roms are suggesting to update the radios. In my experience, it has not been required to update the radios, depending on which kernel you use. (any custom kernel will work) I believe it has more to do with the PRI I did update my radios prior to flashing Myn's RLS5, because it was suggested to do so. I updated my radio, PRI, NV, and Wimax in a combo flash. No problems. Rom ran fine, but my battery life was terrible. I downgraded my radio back to 2.15.00.09.01, and flashed the htc 17 kernel. It gave me a wake lock. I then downgraded the PRI from 1.90 to 1.77, and have been currently running that on RLS5 with zero issues, and good battery life. Wake lock went away after the PRI. If I'm not mistaken, the reason you're suggested to update the radios, is because the newer HTC 15 kernel requires you to use the updated radio and PRI, and most of the current sense 3.70 roms come with the htc 15 kernel. As far as nandroids go, I'm 99.9% sure that they do not back up you're radios or anything. Amon RA, and I believe the newer clockwork will back up your Wimax RSA keys, however. I also flashed Mikfroyo last weekend, for a test run. I left my radios at the older version, and didn't upgrade, despite the suggestion. I ran the htc 17 kernel with that as well, and had zero issues whatsoever. So I'm not positive why it is suggested, other than I think the new HTC 15 kernel doesn't play well with the older radio/PRI.
Thank you. Yea I have the radio and prl versions u downdraded to. Im planning on flashing mikfroyo tonight. Just wanted to play with sense again. Do any of the kings kernels like #9 amd #11 work with the newer ota?

I honestly haven't flashed either of those kernels in a while, definitely not on any of the 3.70 software. I would speculate that they'd work fine, but can't confirm for sure. As long as you have a recent nandroid, you'll be fine. Just try it out and see how the phone runs. If it's no good, either nandroid back, or flash a different kernel. It is a neverending challenge, trying to find the perfect for a specific phone. I wish you luck!

2.10.0001 radio is non-downgradeable on new hardware models.
Your phone has the new block size that is not compatible with the old radios and the remote not allowed error is because you are not using the eng hboot. Unfortunately it is not compatible as is either.
You can force it to downgrade and I believe I found a way to make it work with the new block sizes, but it's never been tested.
Ill test it. Got an extra new block size

Right on, all you need to do is downgrade to the eng hboot from the hboot and before rebooting or doing anything set 'fastboot -n 4096'
That *should* let you use the eng hboot. You still won't be unable to downgrade your radio though, although afterward it may let you flash the old radios without so much as a warning.
Ok will do. Hboot usb or fastboot usb?

Instead of downgrading so far back, have you tried downgrading the baseband from 2.15.00.11.19 to 2.15.00.09.01? If not, give it a try. You can download it and all of the other EVO radios from the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
UPDATE: Disregard. The original post was dated April 8th.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
If i wanted to go back and try Android 2.1 roms, do i have to downgrade the radios as well?
Trying not to make a new thread but....say if I am using a 2.2 Rom with the 2.15.00.11.09 radio and I want to flash to a 2.1 rom(I'm talking bout far back as the rooted shipped stock ROM from last June. Would I need to downgrade my radio? And does that stock ROM already come prepackaged with a kernel. I'm pretty sure the kernel needs to be downgraded for it to be compatible. When I got my EVO in Sept, I was already on 2.2. Never tried 2.1 but have always been curious to try it and see how much worse it is. Then I could say I've finally tried all three versions of Android on my phone and how far we have progressed
As you've stated, the problem would not necessarily be the rom itself not working with the new radios, but whether or not the default kernel would work properly. Give it a shot. The worst that *should* happen is bootlooping. At that point, you can either reboot into recovery and flash a different kernel or downgrade the radio, PRI and NV. Of course, this is my opinion. You can download the rom from here . By the way, according to the descriptions on the shipped roms, the radios appear to be included.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
just read that i can't downgrade my radio because i'm running the 2.10 HBOOT and on HW003. but if downgrading the radio is not necessarily important to run a rooted 2.1 rom then i don't have much to worry about do i? also, those links you posted: i can flash those RUU's in recovery like i would any other rom? i don't want to go back to stock and be unrooted.
i was thinking of running the 1.32.651.1 rooted rom from Flipzmode, and if need to - download the appropirate kernel link next to it on the detailed ROM wiki thread maintained by Toast.
You cannot downgrade your HBOOT from 2.10 (not necessarily accurate) without a risk of problems, however, you can downgrade the baseband, PRI and NV. I've done it several times. I've downgrade from baseband 11.19 to 09.01. As well as upgrade to 04.08. I've also downgraded my PRI from 1.90 to 1.77 all while having HBOOT 2.10.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
i've downgraded my PRI because of the wakelock issues.
so you can downgrade the baseband to a certain extent? only within the 2.15 radios? but you cant downgrade to the radios that were on Eclair? if i can run 2.1 roms on 2.15 radios then by all means i'm going to try it out. thanks for the info doug
I rooted, downgraded and s-off and , and installed Jermaine151 Stock+ v3.01
My baseband is showing as 2.15.00.07.28 Is that what it's supposed to have? Everything SEEMS to be working okay, but everything I've found about that baseband says it's for Froyo, not GB. Is that going to be a problem in some way, or should I flash a more current baseband? I am very new to all this rooting and stuff, but if anyone could tell me for sure, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

added during editing...Reason why I posted here, is I could not post in the developer forum due to low post count. I also read through the Stock+ ROM thread and didn't see anything about this.
The baseband is the radio, you can actually upgrade that at anytime. What you are supposed to have is entirely dependent on the radio you install. The reason it's not mentioned in the thread is because your radio signal strength is dependent upon many factors, primarily your proximity to Verizon towers.
Have you thought about installing a new radio? If so, have you downloaded one yet?

Well as Slim stated you can use which ever works best for you, but technicly stock+ is a gingerbread based rom, and radio 2.15.10.07.07 was released with gingerbread by htc. The radio your on now is from the release of froyo. Also htc evo 4g radios will work for our phones, i believe their latest is 2.15.10.0808
You can get the radios here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=18, they are all compatible with the incredible. There are also other radios not listed on the pvillecomp site, do a little googling and you can find them. Pvilles site are just the major release ones.
I know that I had the most current radio after the OTA was pushed to me. My brother's Inc is still stock, unrooted and running the OTA 2.3.4 His radio is 2.15.10.07.07 I think. Is my radio different because of the 2.2 downgrade that I did? If I don't notice any voice or data reception issues, would leaving my 7.28 radio installed cause any problems? I did put my phone next to my brother's phone and the signal strength dBm were basically identical(within a number or two of each other)
I have looked at a few threads about upgrading to updated radios, but I understand the risk of bricking is higher than the root, downgrade, s-off and Rom install I have done.
What is the best app for testing download and upload speeds if I do decide to try out new radios so I could have a way of comparing to find which is better?
Any suggestions on radios to try?
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Jim
I had typed all that in while watching the game. My login timed out, had to login again, and realized you had posted. I think I have looked there, but I will definitely check those out.
Thanks for your reply.

Yes you have the .28 radio because it is required to use unrevoked, and get s-off. Staying on the froyo radio wont hurt a thing, its which ever works best for you.
I think Ooklas speed test app is the best, its also available online at speedtest.net
Dont be affraid to flash new radios. Its true that it is the most common way of bricking a phone, however it still rarley ever happens. I have changed my radio so many times i cant even count. The best and safest way to do it is only download radios from a reputable source, always check the md5 sums and make sure what you downloaded is the full uncorrupted version. Never flash a radio while on low battery, and never interrupt a radio flash in any way, if it freezez while flashing do not pull the battery or jam buttons come here to xda and get help on what to do. If you do that you should have no issues.
Thanks to the both of you for replying to my questions.
I have reflashed my baseband to the 07.07 file. Everything went flawlessly, no problems and everything seems to be working fine.
Thanks again for your help.
Jim
edit...A friend at work has the EVO 4g. His baseband ends in 12.19 Is that the latest evo baseband and is it usable on the Inc? And is it available somewhere for download?
I haven't heard anything about a newer radio. The latest official is what you have, 07.07, but I wouldn't be surprised if 12.19 worked too-both phones have similar internals. That 12.19 radio may be from 2010 because these phones have been out for a long while so that is a possibility as well. But for the record, I'm here often and I haven't seen an Inc user mention a new Evo radio from December 2011 so I wouldn't bother searching for it.

I just did a search and found this http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/486888-new-ota-4-67-651-3-out-do-not-accept.html. It says that an update came out for the evo last month, and it contains radio 2.15.00.12.19. So it does seem thats the newest one. I cant find a download link, but i'll se if i can find an ruu and extract it for you.
EDIT: Here ya go found it, just flash thru hboot.

Could you post an md5 for that radio?
Thank you!

Sorry about that, forgot to post it.
Greetings!
Thanks for stoppin' in. Hate to clutter the posts, but all my browsing/searching through the site thus far has lead me to older links that don't seem to answer my questions.
My history with my HTC Droid Incredible has always been a mix of positive and negative. One thing I've always been plagued by is a hit-or-miss experience with my call signal and messages.
Details:
-Incoming calls don't ring and go straight to voicemail (I use google voice).
-Many calls are plagued by static or generally poor signal.
-Text and image messages are often not received, or when they are, they often arrive hours after the fact (even the next day).
I've been told that flashing a ROM to a rooted device may include flashing the radio and that each ROM may include its own copy of a radio version. Is this true?
Is flashing the radio typically part of the ROM?
What version of the radio is considered best or most efficient for a VZW HTC Droid Incredible currently?
Is it worthwhile to flash the radio separately?
I'm currently on the beta ICS Miui rom and running smoothly aside from a small handful of buggy behaviors. I've seen these issues on stock as well as Cyanogen 7 and other MIUI ROMs. This is also my second (or third?) Incredible, having had it replaced under Warranty in the past and have typically always had some issues of this kind. Typically, I've just considered some of it to be part of the luck of the draw when using a cell phone.
Anywhos, thanks for the help, folks! If you need further details, please feel free to ask.
No custom roms come with radios that i have ever seen.
Flashing a raido may help your situation and it may not. As to which radio, it is really a matter of which one works best for you.
Here is a page with a bunch of radios that are all compatible with the incredible, even the ones labeled evo. http://dinc.does-it.net/radios
I go with the 07.07 radio (GB update version) it works fine, that or the newest Evo radio. 08.08 or 12.19. I live in a splotchy signal area and from playing with it, it seems the newest ones work best for me.
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the suggestions and input - I'll look into it as soon as I have a chance to get to a computer and such.
Looks like I need to re-flash my ROM as it is, given the alpha of Miui ICS I've been using isn't behaving very dependably at this time.
After I figure out a way to back things up and actually load into recovery (another mysterious issue has recently cropped up where I cannot get past HBOOT), I'll get a fresh ROM done and try another radio.
Anything I should be aware of regarding the radio with consideration to the process or eventually returning to stock if needed?
Kudos!

General Update:
I tried a number of different solutions to my recently developed issue of being unable to boot recovery. I could get into HBOOT, but every time I tried selecting Recovery, it would default into another reboot of HBOOT. ROM Manager hasn't been any assistance either, as directing it to load into Recovery only brings up HBOOT.
On a whim, I decided to go ahead and try re-flashing Recovery (first option in ROM Manager), despite it showing that it was updated to the latest edition. I then attempted to reboot into Recovery right after and ...drum roll... it worked! Go figure. -_-;; ah well! Figured the suggestion of re-flashing the Recovery might help others looking for a solution.
I'm going to go ahead and see about wiping and flashing a new, stable ROM and then I'll jump into the radio suggestions above.
Thanks again!
Naming patterns?

I'm looking at the link provided by the other person above and seeing interesting naming patterns. IIRC I'm currently on the 2.15.00.07.28.
Just want to make-sure I'm reading this right - is 2.15.10.07.07 newer than 2.15.00.11.19? I would guess so, plus I'm gathering that it was the version you suggested.
Further, what are the effects of using an EVO radio? Sorry for being such a noob, but I'm honestly curious!
Thanks.
Nothing wrong with using an evo radio. I use the 07.28 myself but its because it works best in my area.

Correct, 07.07 is newer than 11.19 radio. 11.19 was released in November of 2010, 07.07 was in July of 2011.
Thanks! Learn something new everyday.
I completed flashing the radio! Yay.
Didn't realize at first that it needed to be flashed via HBOOT (though I should've assumed such based on the name), rather than Recovery, but got it taken care of w/o incident.
Immediately, I've seen an increase in signal strength (max bands), and received a text msg that would've been sent earlier this morning. I'm looking forward to seeing further improvements!
Thanks everyone for your assistance.
i use the evo 08.08 radio and it works like a charm...i tried all the radios but i found this one works the best!
How are you guys flashing these radios to your incredible phone? I kept trying by booting into HBoot and renaming the radios to PB31IMG.ZIP but it won't flash it, because the Security mode is ON S-ON. I have the OTA GB update with 07.07 but I can't seem to turn S OFF

You must have s-off to flash radios. One question, what is your hboot version? To attain s-off for:
.92 then follow this guide here
OR
1.02 then follow this guide here
The only experience I have and can reliably speak on is installing radios while s-off AND having hboot .92. I can't speak to the success rate of installing a radio with hboot 1.02, it's entirely different and unfamiliar to me.
I recently started using the 12.19 evo radio and it is much better regular signal wise although somehow 3g seems spottier
