I got a Telus Desire HD running CyanogenMod 7 Rom (final version).
I heard some people having sound quality problems during calls, however it's supposed to have been fixed with this rom (my calls sound good).
My internet calling sounds pretty mediocre though - (SIP).
I'm using voip.ms I do get better call quality on my Nokia n95 native SIP client.
I'm wondering if there's an issue with SIP call quality on the desire HD with modded roms? Perhaps the old issue that was causing GSm call quality wasn't fixed for SIP calls?
Any input is appreciated.

hello guyes, i was searching all over the internet to find an app for my htc desire to enable video-calling. i found many apps but they are all skype similar, they need internet connection. is there any app or mod that can enable simple video calling through 3g network (not data plan)? i have greek carrier with free minutes of calling and video-calling. thnx in advance
You do know that the Desire does not have the front-facing camera for video calling, right?
Would video calling work without the front camera needed for it? Do you intend to use the 5MP camera on the Desire for a video call and keep switching the phone to see your partner?!
yes i am aware it has only one 5mp cam, i can solve this issue simply with a mirror. i used to have sony erricsson k800 and used videocalling a lot thats. i am very pleased with my htc desire but im a bit dissapointed from this asspect with android phones not supporting video call. but i suppose someone can develop an app or mod to enable videocall
Two options
Qik and Tango both claim to do video calls on 3G. I haven't tried either but if you do post a reply with whatever works...
i tried tango, it requires data plan if on 3g which means internet connection, i will try qik and post a reply
qik is the same thing
As title states, I'm experiencing lag/delay using wifi calling. I can hear what my party says about 2 seconds after they say it and vice-versa... makes normal flowing conversations become frustrating. My ISP isn't lagging and my router isn't having any issues. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm sure some people may not notice it at first....
No lag at all
I have a LOT of experience using UMA on Nokia and others and later the horrible attempt at the software version of WiFi calling on a Motorolla Cliq2 .... overseas etc as well.
And I can tell you conclusively that the new WiFi calling on the GS2 is as good as hardware UMA. No lag. In fact it almost feels / sounds better than a regular cell call.
I was calling my parents in Cambodia with wifi calling and it makes them so clear.usually with regular calling I would hear them fade out or have static.

So i tried to make a several calls from my skype when I was connected to the cellular internet and the quality was very poor
I wanted to know is it my provider disease or it is something global?
I think it is your provider.
Personally I use skype only when I'm connected to Wifi and the quality is very good.
On my 3G data connection, VOIP is not allowed.
@++
On WiFi i have a grate quality but the problem is with the 3G i have a delay and sometimes the other side cant hear me
Depends what speed you are on.
You need at least 3.5g for it to work well.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
You should have least 5 MB synchronous for it to work good..
IP telephone need a lot of bandwidth in both directions
My provider is horrible, so its not very good, however, for some reason viper works better for me
Where I can find the enhancements to improve the call quality when using HD Voice in areas where the superior calling option is available.
I don't use my Z2 for much voice, but during the last two calls I got a reboot. Anybody seen this? Advanced Calling, BT, Wifi are all on.
I use mine daily for voice (via BT) and have not experienced a reboot. However, I have the advanced calling features disabled (both HD voice and WiFi). My wife's Droid turbo 2 had such bad voice quality with HD voice enabled that I won't even try to use it. But that's a different discussion.
I do face random reboots but not on calls.
