Good roms and kernels

Hi, I am currently a vibrant owner but I am getting sick of the GPS issues and the lack of support mainly a full source of 2.2 that runs good aside from just fast. Tmobile is sending me a G2 and I will have some time to see how I like it, I was looking for some input as far as roms and kernels go for if I decide to keep it.
I had a mytouch 3g before all this and loved the cyanogen and noticed there was a cyan rom for this and I would love to get some input on how it is, good or best or what have you. If you know of any better as far as functionality and speed go please toss me some idea so I can begin researching it.
There is a CyanogenMOD 6.1 (Android 2.2.1) ROM for the G2, They are actively working on CM7 (Android 2.3) and I would expect it to come out in the next month or so.
I'm still on the stock ROM because I'm waiting for CM7.
Expect the G2 to be similar to the G1 in terms of the amount and variety of roms. There appears to be quite a bit of support for this device.

Cyanogenmod and visionary have been the ones I've used and both are excellent. Cyanogenmod has been written about in how great it is, and visionary is a great sense rom if you care for that stuff.

Check out miui rom in android development! I'm currently using it! Its awesome. I went from stock to CM 6 then Virtious then MIUI. And I think for me Miui is the best rom, it incorporates so many things...and the new release is even more awesome.

[Q] LeeDroid 2.4.1 is stable?

Would anyone please give me the idea of its stability? I am trying to find a mod rom stable & can extend the battery life. Thank you
I'd sooner go with the 2.3d if I were you. I think that reading less than 10 last pages of the thread in question could give enough evidence to back up this statement of mine.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I find it works very well on my device, stable, smooth and fast, tried the GB builds and came back to 2.4.1. The battery life made me come back.

LeeDroid 2.4.1 is very stable, it's the better froyo sense rom, you should try Gingerbread Sense Rom like InsertCoin or RCMix S, both are very good

2.4.1 is very stable , clean and fast. I like "sence" , and this is the best rom out there .

Same here. The only thing i disagree with is battery. GB are equally good now. I think even a little bit better when actually using the ROM (when phone is awake).
BUT, LeeDroid 2.4.1 is rock solid. All GB roms are based on TEST leak, and devs are porting stuff from sense 2.1 and 3.0 to them, which does cause few bugs here and there. It'll get there once official update is released.
I love the way Lee stayed away from porting stuff and just concentrated on optimizing existing software, adding most usefull addons you can find on xda.
LeeDroid 2.4.1 gets my vote for now, it's just to good not to use it
If you do not want Gingerbread, it is the most stable Froyo ROM, but GB has some advantages like battery RAM Management. If you will use A2SD, you may try InsertCoin Sense2.1 with GB.
+1 vote for 2.4.1
stable and smooth
skip 2.4.1 and go to LeeDRoid 3.0.x, might as well make the most of upgrading your system, and start getting used to Gingerbread!
Actually, that wasn't very helpful I guess. My bad. I've used LeeDRoiD roms pretty much since i first rooted, and I'd say they are up there with the best software you could want on your phone. They are definitely stable and pretty good on battery use. I only used 2.4.1 for a few days before i went to 3.0.2, but it was fairly solid.

it´s really a question that you can´t solve by yourself testing several roms?
i tested a lot of roms and the majority are stables and fast (always custom rom of course )) my current rom its wrote in my syg (it don´t means that the rest are worse....)simply ITS MY CURRENT ROM
I think that it hasn´t better answer.... the only thing that i can say is try several roms since @Seraphic pure android 2.3.3 to AOSP roms, themed roms.... and decide.
Yeah i went and used a few other rom's but to be fair i got the best out of Android Revolution, though i've also had RCMix rom's they are always good fun to use
I would recommend LeeDroid. It's stable, fast, and very well supported and updated by the developer. Highly customizable too
I'm using Revolution and love it. But it's really about testing out each ROM and seeing which one suits your needs. You'll be sure to find more and more ROMs you love. Then just pick the one you found the most usable and more to your style.
Obviously always make sure to check over new ROM updates to see if maybe another ROM offers something a bit more.

under my opinion, this is the best answer..
Try and play around flashing. Its also fun anyway. xD
Thank you guys. The only reason im reluctant on keep flashing roms is due to fear of bricking. I mean I spent £340 for the phone and I dont want it dead lol

yet another thread about rom recommendation
lol, theres loads
personally, i'd say the one i'm running with launcher7- see sig.
well imagine EVERYBODY could cut & paste this reply. what is your favorite colour? i like red but it's not blue enough for some. better just try a few & see what takes yr fancy
The most stable imo is GingerVillian, it's a stock Gingerbread ROM with latest Google Market.
Runnymede AIO all the way for me, it is a brilliant rom.
Lol, I don't know who's moar funny here, trolls or those who spoon feed morons again, and again and again out of some false courtesy and thinking they are helpful....
If you want an AOSP rom try CyanogenMod 7, it's fast and stable. If you're searching for a Sense rom I think Runnymede AIO is the best at the moment
I wanted to know what are the best roms too but then i realized that i would have to try it out.
It really depends on you, do you want Sense or stock design, usability or speed...
I can really recommend you Redux or Oxygen, both are fast and both have propably everything what you need.
But it is my taste, i don't really like sense roms for example...
imo the best is not created yet
at the moment i have CoolSense 3.0 Aces v6 Bravo (it is so fast and stable), before i had LeeDroid 2.5 (stable, but no so fast, good battery life) and good factory stock rom
It's a hard question
I've tried cyano but i want lo have sense so i put InsertCoin.
Then i tried gingerbread with Aurora and now I have runnymede.
The last two is very good rom.I prefer the first because it's more easy but if u want a complete rom, use runnymede.
Oxygen is the most stable custom rom on desire imo. Its essentially hack free with a great kernel.

i stick to the official..way better than anything else!
I used to enjoy the stock roms, but found that sense was terrible. I, personally, would go for the latest Oxygen release for stability. I'm currently using Sandvold's ICS rom and enjoying it, but it isn't without it's bugs currently.

What's the best ROM for the Ding in your opinion??

Soo. I've been flashing ROM's for a while now, well I've gone through a Sanyo zip, a kyocera milano, a ghetto ass "Sawee Pad" that i cant do crap woth really, then i got my incredible and ive gone from cm7 v13 to cm9 Kangs, to Peter Alfonso's Pete_Inc_03_10_12, to few others. The thing is, I really like ICS, but everything I've flashed in some way or another was unstable and I dreaded installing apps or anything else for that matter. So I've been back to cm7 v13 for about a month now.. what's the best overall most stable ICS ROM out there for the incredible? I don't care about fancy schmancy customizations. I want something basic and very stable (or just super awesome thats stable) I would love to hear your opinions, pros/cons. I will be researching most of the night I'm sure. I use my Ding for a lot of things, gaming/movies/music/inet surfing.. just wanna flash a new ROM and wanting your opinions. Thanks

I am on cm9 unofficial. Its highly stable, at least for me and fast too. Am running stock kernel.
Hope it helps you.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
If you keep the stock kernel, they are almost all stable. The different kernels will cause some phone to freeze when plugging and unplugging.
It's hard to keep it all straight but I believe you need a 3rd party video app to record video ( video cam illusions) in most ics roms. Build 38 and 39 of AOKP do not work on the dinc, both cm9's and the new abduction are really smooth. Just flash and enjoy, that's my motto.
Ah so that's why it didn't work. CM 7.2 is much, much quicker though.

Well after a few hours of reading, imma try and flash in-sensative minimalist sometime today. I know its not ICS, but it'll do. Imma keep reading and see what I come across, maybe ill try a different version of cm9 and see if I can find something more stable than what I had.
Sent from myAnus using XDA
I've been using Hanger's Abduction for months now. Installed the latest last night and each release gets better. Everything seems to work for me (I don't use the video camera so I can't talk about that). Previous versions there was some hanging when unplugging from charger, and a few random quick reboots. So far so good on latest but it has only been 7 hours...

For all out stability without any misfeatures, CM7 w/ stock kernel. If an alternate kernel is stable for you, then great.
That said, invisiblek's ICS builds are getting there, but there's still some weirdness here and there.
I've heard that the latest evervolv ICS alpha is really nice, and they've got the video camera working -- I haven't tried it myself though. Videocam Illusions just records in MJPEG -- you've got to be desperate for ICS + videocam to want to use that.
Throwing my vote in for pures anthem ROM. Buttery smooth, fast, and stable. Oh, and pretty. only issue I have is that sometimes 3g disappears, and a restart is required to fix it.

I would love to be on ICS ROM as well...but I have some misgivings about it. Even if some ICS ROMs may be stable, from what I see, they are still slower and grab more battery then our GB ROMs. That's a deal breaker right there. I don't understand why people want ICS soooo badly on their Dinc if its gonna be like that. Stable is great...but its gonna hog more battery
I'm on the latest RC of CM7.2 with Chad/Tiny Incredikernel and couldn't be happier. Stable, Fast, and battery efficient.....
I have an extended battery and get the same or better. Dinc accessories are getting cheap on amazon. I can get about 18 he with 3hr + of screen on.

I agree with previous posts about ICS roms having poor battery life. From what I've tried, they do not have anywhere near as many features as cm7. If it is not possible for cm9 to run efficiently on the dinc I hope development on cm7 continues into the future. I run the latest cm7 nightly with incredikernal, v6 supercharger, kickass kernalizer, adrenaline shot and 3g turbocharger scripts. I also updated the radio to the new one in the general section. My phone has never performed better

Battery life is subjective and different people may have different capacity batteries at different points in their lifespan and different usage levels. I for one think it's decent, maybe not as good as cm7 but probably better than the galaxy nexus.
Oh and not to mention different screen types, AMOLED can drain faster than SLCD.

That's what I was leaning towards, thanks. I also am interested in the Touchwiz 5.1.2 rom and ParanoidAndroid, though the latter seems to not be ready yet (phone errors and fc'ing).
It's a little overwhelming coming in as a noob. I'm wanting to put some life back into my dinc.
Would the latest CM9 nightly be the best start? Anything I should know about? Is flashing a new kernel worth it, or should I stick with stock? So far I followed a guide here to get root, but I'm still S-On for now until I decide which rom to go with..then I plan on downgrading to get S-Off, flashing a rom, and updating my radio.

first thing first, get S-Off in your DInc .
idk the best start to try a rom, but maybe u can try an aosp GB which is CM7 or miui.
but if ur very interested in ICS UI then CM9 all the way. there is a lot of CM9 mod such as invisiblek's, abduction, kang's, and others, and there is also a combine cm9 + miui such as miui v4 ics.
its up to you which one u will pick, or ur gonna try them all (like me lol) just remember to make a nandroid backup.
happy flashing rom's

by the way, I was S-ON for a while, flashed an ICS rom, and had to go through ****s to get S-OFF. You can look near the end of scottys guide to see You can be as noob as possible, once u get CWM recovery, its as simple as putting the rom on your SD card, then going into recovery and selecting to flash it. I would recommend tiny's incredikernel HWA RC1

S-off'd and flashed the 7/5 cm9 nightly last night. Wow. Its like I have a new phone.
Couple things. Text input lags a bit. Anything to speed that up? Performance is pretty good overall but I feel like it could be better. Battery life seems to be on par with stock (buying an extended soon cause I'm still on the original battery). I also seem to be running a bit warmer than stock. Will a new kernel help?
