Hello.
I am asking a question about the database access for messaging and contacts. Ever since I went back to Sense-based roms (namely LeeDroid 2.3d), I have the problem of slow access to my messages. This includes reading, writing and deleting.
I have about 5000 messages, and previously being on both Froyo AOSP based roms and Gingerbread based roms (Oxygen 2, Cyn 7), I had very fast and responsive system to work with my messages.
Now, in HTC Sense, it takes me about 1 seconds to access my messages from the time I click on my message. Is there anything I could do to fix this problem?
Here is some more technical data:
- HTC Desire AMOLED. HTC Sense. Rooted. S-OFF 0.93. LeeDroid 2.3d. App2SD
- SD Card: 8Gb Class 2. 256Mb EXT2.
- HTC Messaging app disabled. Using ChompSMS.
- about 5000 SMSs on the system.
Please do let me know of a solution. I am not a novice and have searched the forum before posting (but didnt find anything). I also know that uncle Google is a friend.
Thank you,
Mo.
HTC Sense is a slower rom in general. It prob doesn't help that you have 5000 messages anyway but still.

Unfortunately, Sense roms tend to be rather heavy and when it comes to reading and accessing 5000 messages I would say it could get rather slow depending on where they are stored and what they are stored on.
In your case its a class 2 microSD card. You could consider purchasing a class 6 or 10 card to speed things up. Especially since you have an EXT partition that is probably being used by the system.
Thanks for the replies. The question is that this is the same exact system setup that i had with the AOSP roms, whether froyo or gingerbread. and the response time was much much quicker, with 4800 messages.
I have now, removed all the messages, and re-written them to the database.
In between i tried to send a text when the database was empty - it took the same exact time. how is that even possible when it is empty?!!?!

Hey there,
I am equipping two Google Apps a.k.a. Gmail accounts on my Desire. Unfortunately, though I have a FroYo release that supports native a2sd, my phone has no internal space left due to Gmail downloading all messages to the phone memory. With a ****load of labels, this is really annoying.
I searched back & forth, but I couldn't find any solution to this problem - does anyone have a clue as how to make the Gmail data kindly move (and stay) onto the SD card? I tried 'Move cache for Root Users' (http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/it.tautility/) but it just didn't move my two accounts cache data to the SD card.
Thanks in advance!!
I surely don't mean to grab the whole forum's attention here (which I won't achieve anyway), but since 68 people viewed this topic and nobody replied... - does nobody have the same problem? Don't you ever use labels, or don't you sync them and get in trouble with disk space? Or does nobody have it on the internal storage and have some clever solution that I miss?
Do you really need all the e-mail of your account? Mine just synchronizes with the mail of the last 4 days and if i want anything beyond that it will automatically load it via my data connection.
you can change the amount of days by pressing menu when in the gmail app then choose settings and then labels.
Reminds me of Steve Job's 'you hold that phone the wrong way'....
Yes and no, it somehow worked well on the stock ROM, and I surely had some folders sync completely. I don't know why it does not work on the current ROM I use ([ROM-FroYo] Official Froyo HTC Sense ROM (16/07 v1.0c | OpenDesire Team)), but it doesn't seem to do anything strange anyway...
I have an HTC Tilt 2, running WM6.5. I'm using stock rom with Touchflo3d. I know this should be in an HTC forum, but since this applies to just about every HTC model out there and I'm also wondering if there is a normal WM feature I'm not aware of so it applies to WM6.5 only.
I have about 4,500 sms messages (I text alot) and I need to know two things:
1) Is there any way within WM6.5 to tell it to store my txt messages on my sc card rather than the internal memory? The more msgs I have, the more memory it takes, the less memory, the slower the whole thing becomes. I don't care if I need a 3rd party app to do it, I just want to know how or if it's possible.
2) Is there a WM replacement for the HTC sms messenger that's better? is there a non HTC and non WM sms messenger that's better? Mine keeps locking up the phone every time I send a message from one of the user accounts with a large amount of messages in it, forcing me to soft-reset or use a RAM reset tool to get the system to respond again.
I'm willing to upgrade to a new non-stock ROM if it will solve my problems and I'm willing to buy whatever software is necessary to resolve my issues.
Thanks,

Hey Guys,
I've been running MYN's latest Warm Donut on my Kaiser for a while now, and it was the first Android build I ever used after using WinMo forever. It's pretty nice, but I was considering switching back to WinMo today due to stability.
Basically, I don't receive about 50-80% of my SMS messages. I get them now and then, but most of the time, I don't receive SMS messages sent to me. When I first flashed the build, it seemed fine (at least I think it did, unless I wasn't receiving texts then too) but lately it's just been getting out of hand, as I miss important messages, and that is really making me want to switch back to WinMo.
Another thing is the battery life, which has been pretty brutal since I made the switch (I'm hoping that's been resolved by the number of posts here about that?)
Anyways, if someone can let me know if the SMS issue has been resolved, and if there's a certain android build in which it has been resolved, that would be verrrry much appreciated. I really love Android compared to WinMo, but the SMS and battery issues are driving me insane
Thanks in advance for any help
I am using Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 rls15 and haven't had any issue with mms, maybe you can try that. I have an andboot folder zipped out there with all but the androidinstall file so if you are running on sd card you can use that. I haven't done nand yet as I like having winmo as primary so I can change up my droid install easily (and can pop the card into my laptop and access/change the system and data that way). Also make sure you don't use a notification tone too big or that may cause your phone to not load the notification correctly (this is an issue with most phones not just android or kaiser).
Any news on the SMS issue? I have it too using cyanogenmod or COS-DS and it's *really* annoying.
seems to be a radio problem, try to change the radio firmware.
Hi a while ago i was trying to root my phone,so i copied the contents of two sd cards on to my pc,whilst resetting everything last time, and inserting the memory card with one of the images, all my messages returned again,so somewhere on the sd memory this lives,id rather not go through the process of transferring stuff off etc of my current mem card,so does anyone know the location of the data relating to messages?
I know it seems longwinded but if anyone knows id appreciate it as i need one of those messages
I am sure that SMS messages are not stored in the SDcard. They should be stored somewhere in the /data folder in the internal memory...
However, I think your messages came back from HTC sense account sync if you had one before you wiped everything.
Setup HTC sense account again and cross your fingers, if you have a sense account now, delete it a re-do it and hope that might help.
You are in fact a legend, that worked

I really fail to see what HTC Sense Accounts were about. It was probably a major factor in me getting a DHD over the D (of course, now that I am running a custom ROM, I wouldn't go back!).
Anywho, they are meant to be able to track your phone, see where it has been, store all your messages etc. I set it up as instructed, logged in, ran through all the hopes, enabled all the right settings, and what happens? Nothing. 95% of the time when I try to access the site, it doesn't want to work. Also, it has only saved about my first 5 text messages.
In the end I find that using SMSBackup+ is the best thing to do. It allows you to backup all your texts/mms/call log to your GMail account.
Initially, thank you for being here. I participate in other forums, but none on cell phones.
This is the first.
I did search on 'internal memory' before post this new thread.
HTC DESIRE HD A9191
Original setup:
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sense version: 3.0
Non rooted
The problem:
My cell phone almost exists to run Whatsapp (it currently uses 210 Mb of internal memory).
Since there is no way to export the data from Whatsapp to the SD card, I am deleting messages. It was 222Mb, reached more than 225Mb and I removed other applications.
Over time, even though I uninstalling some applications (Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Instagram ...) and deleting messages (as I said, today it has 210Mb) the internal memory only reduces. Now I have less than 512 kb.
I honestly do not know what else to do. In a few days I will only have Whatsapp and the applications that Android does not allow to delete (without the root user).
Someone has had experience with this phone and knows what can be done besides:
1. Root
2. Uninstall programs that come in the mobile and are not useful
3. Install new Android 6
This cell phone is a great cell phone. Long lifespan (I have it for many years) and few defects (the audio has stopped to work - I need to use the speakerphone every time I call someone).
Is there any place I can access and delete temporary files etc?
Suggestions to solve are welcome.
I'd like to post a few images (printscreen) of the mobile phone internal memory (as a new user I can not post links, sorry):

http imageshack com/a/img922/7572/T8iq0N.jpg
http imageshack com/a/img922/2091/6lDjm7.jpg
I am afraid to root it and lose something during the process. And if it stop to work I do not have another mobile phone to use.
Thank you!
I have just deleted 2,000 messages from Whatsapp and after reboot it went to 208 Mb.
After a few seconds it went to 211 Mb and to 210 Mb again.
The MONSTER is growing.
