Hello, I am brand new here. have the EVO 4G, I rooted it and installed C 6.1 stable mod myself this week. Was a little scary at first, didn't know there were two files, the second one being the Google and Market stuff which was super important. But I got everything working now
- I installed Setcpu what is a good setting for that to help save battery, but still be a good phone ?
- Is there a better SMS text app than the default ? I used handcent before, really liked it, but it seemed super buggy to me, anything else, that is like handcent or iPhone texting ?
- Is there a better e-mail app for non gmail accounts. I did like the HTC Sense e-mail, but now it's gone after doing the C 6.1. I just don't like the default one being all black and stuff, and super basic looking.
- What about keyboards ? Not liking this default, and it doesn't give me haptic feedback ? How do I get the brand new 2.3 Nexus-S keyboard ?
- Visual voicemail ? I like the default Sprint one, how do I get that back on or something similar ?
Thank you
I wouldn't recommend setcpu on cm 6.1. Not needed. Try SwiftKey or swype keyboards. The 2.3 gingerbread keyboard is not bad and is available in the op of the cyanogen rom post.
Handcent is great imo. No problems for me. Tell It to split 160 though. You can search for sprint vvm apk or use google voice for vm which I think is much better.
Be sure to calibrate your battery the difficult way also have fun!

How do I make sure battery life is the best, without setCPU ?
I installed Google voice, it rocks
So handcent is ok ? What about 160 ? limit it ?
Will look into the 2.3 keyboard
Just make sure only the accounts you want syncing are syncing. And check in with Spare Parts from time to time to check your battery usage. Also search for the evo battery calibration steps. It is a little dance you do with the charging cable. And use auto brightness or low brightness.
Another big one is that if you are around wifi most of the day, set wifi sleep policy to never. Helped me big time. With all this stuff set, I get between 40 and 60 hours on a charge depending on use. No set cpu or alternate kernels. No battery defender apps, no task killers.
Oh, and tell handcent to split 160 char in settings.

Hi guys I flashed the new virtuous Rom and yesterday I couldn't get the Google navigation to work. All it does is stay on the checking navigation availability screen. Is there a problem with just my phone or is it a problem everyone is going threw on this Rom and is there a fix?
No problems here
Not my experience with Virtuous 3.2. Just took it outside to recheck and no problems with GPS.
On 3.2 for a week or so. Nav working fine for me.

While actual navigation works for me, i found that the "speak destination" feature does not. After noticing this i went to the text messaging app to see of the speech to text feature works on the keyboard and it force closes also.
Does anyone else have this problem?
-running virtuous 3.2.0
I have had virtuous 3.2 since the day it came out both my navigation and speach recognition work with nobproblems.

Do you have any Task Managers/Killers installed? I used to run Virtuous with Advanced Task Manager and found that it was causing problems. I removed it and did a fresh install and my phone ran fine after that.
If it is being caused by a task killer most have an option to ignore apps you select. I use advanced task killer froyo and it has an ignore function, however the nav app is not on my ignote list and will kill the app if i am not using it but once opened again it works just fine.

Are you able to opem your maps app? I am curious because i noticed that it opens every time nav app does.
Sorry guys I've been busy, well update I couldn't for the life of my figure out why it wasn't finding me so I got so frustrated that I flashed my very first Rom (skyraider 2.5.2) and google navigation worked like a charm. I do have task killer but I flashed skyraider before reading the post about task killer. Well thank you guys for your input.
Only problem I'm having is that NAV kills pauses music when giving a turn-by-turn instruction, but then doesn't allow music to resume. This feature worked correctly on 2.1, then was broken on 2.2, then fixed on the NOV OTA, which 3.2 is supposedly based on. Not sure why this bug persists.
hey guys,
My desire is running on ReflexTsense 1.8 and i love the implementation of the buttons embedded into the notification drop down window (3g,wifi,BT,data,gps..etc) And i remember when i was trying out diff.rom's i saw one (cant remember which one, that's the point) that had embedded into the Notif's the :recent apps: menu, which was awesome...
so was wondering if it could be possible to instal that somehow ?
lol ok im back already people, here again for those of you that didnt see my first post i have a MyTouch 3GS w/ gapps and CM7 installed, along with apps2sd AND data2ext. now i downloaded the NFS shift apk before i rooted my device, and it ran fine on 2.2 froyo (the official one), and even after i rooted and used 3rd sense rom, it worked, BUT wen i got to CM 7.0.0 and CM 7.0.3 , it will load the "NFS Shift" boot screen, go black, then exit back to the screen i was on before i ran the game (typically the home screen) so does anyone hav a solution to this problem. let me add that i downloaded CPU tuner from the market, if i increase the amount of Mhz it uses to increase performance, will this allow the games to run!? please someone help me
p.s. i tried it on a modified NOVA apk and the same thing happened
Thanks in advance!!!
I believe it's because the app isn't supported on 2.3 yet, or at least not CM7. Not much you can do about that. If you want, you can flash a froyo rom, you should be able to run it on that.
Try moving the app to SD card, in case you haven't yet and see if it works that way.

Hi all, this is my first post in that forum, with a doubt about my girlfriends wildfire s. I rooted the phone months ago (unlocked + s-on) but cant find a stable and long-last-battery life with a2sd anywhere. Ive tried out with wildchild, cyano 7, miui, stocks and others ive find in htcmania (im spanish) and here in xda. She wants a ROM with Sense because of the widgets and simpleness. Now, shes using a sense 3.5 based one, but battery life cant last long more than 10h with about 1 or 1 and a half screen time... Without a2sd because it makes the phone bootloop and force closes everytime. I checkd the battery with an app that i use in my One X, gsam battery, and got immpresed about the radio drains.
Any help, suggestion? Thanks
Hi mate. I'm spanish too so i guess that you know some spanish developers such as chucky6600. He's permanently developing Sense roms and he's quite obssesed with battery friendly ones. If you are interested please contact me by MP in order not to make spam
