Have just debranded a HTC Desire from Orange(UK) to T-mobile only problem is i can get on internet to download apps but i cant make or receive calls!
All it says is a womens voice saying "calls are currently not being connected to this number"
Has this phone been blocked somehow.
It was originally bought from Ebay could it have been blocked or something?
If so is there anyway round it.
The sim works fine in other phone perfectly!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Blocked I would think. I think there is a service to check the imei. Search Google. Phone will only work in foreign country now.

When you say "debranded" did you mean unlocked? or did you just remove all the Orange cr4p from it?
Did it work before you did this? (though I'm guessing you din't try becasue you didn't have an Orange sim card).
As it was on orange originally i paid a small fee to have it unlocked (only had to give over IMEI number).
After that i debranded it via making goldcard etc, thought all was fine as wireless worked but cannot make or recieve calls!!
If it is blocked, which countries will it work in?
Is there nothing i can do?
I had a very similar problem. I travel a lot to other countries and have various sim-cards for the different countries that I visit regularly. I received similar messages to yours and only found out when trying to make a call that the sim card had expired. Apparently they only last for 12-24 months (in the countries I'm talking about) then you have to get a new card and, unfortunately, new number.
Also had the same problem when I just bought my Desire. I too had it unlocked and a few days later, for no reason at all, what's happened to you happened to me. So I viewed my mobile phone account online on the providers website and found that my account was "missing". I tried the online live chat and they told me my account had been cancelled. They couldn't explain why but after a lot of protesting by me they magically re-instated it.
I think the best advice is to contact T-Mobile. Maybe the sim needs activating, if not done already, or maybe there's a problem with the account or the sim is faulty.
Try another T-Mobile sim in it, or another provider to see if they work. You can get them for free now.
Orange has now stopped replacing HTC handsets that have the reboot issue. due to the amount being taken back. I don't know if other networks are also putting a stop to this . HTC are now working on a update for all HTC one x devices to fix the problem. There was talk about HTC doing a call back on all devices but due to the state HTC are currently in it was decided it would be better for the company to try and fix through a software update
I note to any orange customers wanting a replaced phone under warranty please don't tell them its rebooting as orange will not take the phone back.
I send my apologies to all admins and mods if this info is in the public domain and a post has been made already. I understand their are some other people who come on.here who work for either HTC or other networks
Posted from my HTC one x by an HTC employee who is not best please with the company he works for
And that's why I left orange 10 years ago. Furthermore, they can't do that, if your orange branded 1x is faulty and they won't replace it, go to court and take them for costs and loss of earnings as well.
So orange believe that if you have a faulty handset they do not have to replace it as an update is in the works?
I'm afraid that's not how it works orange...
We all know by law anything we buy has to be as described and fit for perperce
An 1x rebooting does not fit this and yes of course it should be swapped without any questions
I cannot speak on behalf of orange but I can tell you what I was told. Don't just blame orange though it might be other networks and it may have also been a direct request from HTC . The info I was told about the update HTC customers are having came from an email at the office the info I had about orange came from the Burton on Trent orange store when i visited them with my own faulty handset not due to rebooting but do to the handset not taking a charge. I was told I quote its a good job you did not have a phone that was rebooting as we are no longer taking these. I did not ask why but I can guess why
Have we got a linky or other 'proof' of this?
No disrespect to the OP, he may just be passing on info he has heard…. but are the guys who told him this info correct? Cos, lets face it, ALL staff who work in mobile phone shops KNOW everything about what is happening everywhere in their company, dont they.
Steve
no disrespect taken Tomo
I have no links or anything to the info i have just given. Its not offical. HTC i guess will make an offical statment when they want to. But i can give you my world and thats all.
as for orange
I cannot speak on their behalf but pass info on what i was told by the store i went to.
I guess some one could phone orange and ask them if they are still doing swaps for duff phones. i think it stinks myself if they are not giving replacments for phones rebooting.
Yeah I'm not gonna believe it until HTC says it, because retailers are required by law to replace phones or refund them...
Hello to all
It looks like HTC has now realised the new update I've already had. Message come through on my phone its downloaded and installed ok . Just hope it fixes any problems with your one x
Hi, Yesterday my HTC One M8 stopped recognizing my sim card. I have tried the sim on other phones and it works. I have googled it, and it seems that there is more people with the same problem. I have sent an email to expansys, and I am waitinig for their answer. Meanwhile, do yo have any ideas? What can I try? Thanks
Well I finally did a factory reset from a nandroid backup, just to revert the mobile to stock to prepare it to return it to the shop, and now it works. I hope that if someone has such a problem, this would help
There're lots of people in Singapore that are facing this issues and HTC couldn't provide a solution. HTC release a new update (version 1.54.707.7) today claiming that the problem were resolved but judging from their facebook page, the problem is still there. Unlike other countries, replacement of phone are not practice in the country and consumers are stuck with a useless phone until HTC can solve the issue.
Hi,
I bought my HTC Desire 820 from a online site as a refurbished phone. I have had it for about 8 months and it is perfect except for the wi-fi network drop outs and the android software update. So today I decided to ring HTC to find out when the next update is for the phone. So anyway I gave the HTC person the EMEI number for the phone and the HTC person said they do not have any information at all on my phone. So then I gave them the serial number and the person said that the serial number matches to a HTC One M8, but my phone is a HTC Desire 820. I was advised to contact the seller that I got the phone from and they said they were happy to extend the warranty on the phone and all I had to do was send the phone to a address in China, that sounded very dodgy to me so I do not really want to do that as I don't think I will get the phone back. So anyway I confirmed that the phone is a original by tapping the android version a few times and the version icon appears which is Kit Kat and my phone is sort post to have android version 6.0 marshmallow on it. So I have been advised by a HTC person and phone repair person that the phone has had its network settings customised for a certain region. Also I looked up the EMEI number of the phone on a EMEI checker website and apparently the provider for the phone is a company called Seira Wireless. So I am really not sure what to do whether to root the phone or find out someway to fix the network settings. If anyone could come up with a potentially safe way to fix the phone as I do not want to destroy my phones software or hardware configuration that would be great. Please contact me asap if you have a fix to my problem. BTW I live in Australia and I am not sure whether the phone is set to this region, the phones network works fine except for the constant drop of network for no reason on wi-fi and the phone saying I don't have a android version update. If you need further details please message me.
Thanks
Sam
