Can I use an snes usb controller with a micro adapter to play emulator games? Thanx.
If you have one, try it; though idk if it'd be supported.
Dont have one asking before I purchase
Ah, well I personally don't know. Some emulators support extended wired controllers, so I believe it'd work.

I'm not sure, but doubt it would work, as the evo doesn't support USB hosting. Heck, you can't even play music through the USB port. What you can do, is use an AOSP rom, and use a wiimote.

It only works on AOSP roms, i.e. CM7, evervolf, salvage, ect. It won't work on sense roms.

Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread, but I haven't been able to find a good answer.
The Bluetooth stack for HTC Sense based android phones has some Bluetooth limitations that do not allow it to pair to Bluetooth game controllers, keyboards, and in some instances mobile (car) audio. I am not a developer so I only have a basic understanding how this works, but I've read that it is due to the SPP profile included being out of date.
A lot of Incredible owning Ford Sync and BMW drivers out there seem to be having issues syncing the Incredible, and I personally would like to be able to use a Wii controller or the Zeemote with my device. I bought a Zeemote for mobile gaming, but I gave it to my Droid X owning friend because it works great on stock Android, but refused to Sync with either my Incredible or another friend's Evo.
Does anyone (especially those people porting non Sense Android 2.2 to the Incredible) know if it would be possible to replace the HTC Bluetooth stack with a stock Android 2.2 Bluetooth stack? Ideally a user installable (with Root of course) APK.
I'd also like to know if this is possible/why it is not, even though I'm increasingly falling in love with CyanogenMod (especially as 6 seems to be nearing a stable release)
You have to download Bluetooth file transfer app from the market. Works perfectly.

Officially, Android does not support BT HID, which is needed for wiimote.
Cynaogenmod has added it via one of the devs who made it possible.
Their code is on github, if you want to attempt trying to port it to Sense based roms.
It's interesting that the Non HTC phones i've tried it on have worked fine if it is a problem with Android in general. I guess Motorolla added their own stack.
Try it on a samsung phone. Its not HTC only.

All we need to do is find an amazing chef like the guy over at Phandroid who makes the FrankenROM. I have 100% faith that guy could pull it off if he tried. He is freaking amazing!
Yes, can someone fix this. Full bluetooth functionality on 2.2 would be awesome!
Good to know about the Samsungs also having this issue. I've not had the opportunity to test a Samsung Android phone. Seems everyone I know has HTC or Motorolla.

Is anyone willing to cook up full bluetooth functionality in 2.2???
I would kill for this on a stock 2.2 rom w/root. I have a lot of SNES and PS1 games that suck with touchscreen controls.
I will donate money.
Anyone interested in adding bluetooth?
Please anyone smart enough to figure this out?!?

Ok.. i want to use my ROOTED EVO as a wireless usb adapter! to connect my SONY TV TO THE INTERNET, my home wifi, not my 3g.
ive searched but didnt find nothing. i read it can be done but idk.. cant find anything.. my sony tv is wifi ready but it needs a usb wireless adapter which i dont have.. but i want to make my evo a usb wireless adapter.. theres gotta be a APP or something to do it. no?
ANY IDEAS?? Thanks!!
Kind of in the same realm but i want my phone to act as a usb bluetooth device.
The only app that I am aware of worth using to tether is wifi tether.
But from what im understanding is you want to use it as a USB tether. If you install CM7 rom. Tethering is built into the rom and you have the option of making it a hotspot OR tethering via usb.

most all of the sense 2.0 roms have the wired tether option. so there are a few alternatives to cm if you want to keep a stock feel.
In need of help in finding a gaming controller for the ET4G. I know I can't use my wiimote(bummer), but i need some sort of Bluetooth that works nicely for games. What do you guys recommend?
Does the PS3 controller work or is that only with an ASOP kernel?
It does with six axis in the market I believe

Have you tried this? Where did you read or see this actually working? I have done extensive research on this and it still needs an AOSP kernel from my findings. If you know of a way that this will work otherwise can you please post some details.

My PhoneJoy Controller works awesome on the epic 4g Touch it needs BluezIME to run.
Here's my review of the PhoneJoy Bluetooth controller if you're interested:
I'm not sure if this is an issue with code not being dropped yet, but hdmi out has not worked on ANY ICS roms thus far. Does anyone else know about this? On Gingerbread it works. This is very important to me b/c I sync my ps3 controller to my phone and then line out to the flat screen, making it where I don't even have to touch my phone, which is awesome b/c the screen buttons are extremely hard to use on most games. I don't think most people know that you can even do HDMI out b/c I have never seen it in development, and when I bought the phone, it didn't even say that HDMI was a feature on Sprints site. This could be b/c you have to buy an adapter(micro USB to HDMI) unlike the EVO that has a seperate micro HDMI port. Any ideas guys?
Yeah you need an mhl adapter that then needs to be powered by another micro usb.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
HDMI out does not work on any of the ics aosp roms for this phone and most if not all galaxy sii phones with aosp ics. Would be nice if we can get mhl support for aosp but it may never happen.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
yes agreed.. it is called a MHL adapter.. ive had it working on stock ics but not on aosp.. havent tried with cm9a4 but i do know on cm9a3 it has been a known issue and they are aware it doesnt work.. not sure if there has been any progress yet but gaming on your big screen will need to be put on hold.. at least you can still stream video via twonky or other app through your ps3 as long as you have a wireles network at home

Its not a bug on CM9 its just a feature that has not been implemented. If you look at the github for CM9 there is just a placeholder at the moment.

I'm not sure if some of you guys read all of my post before answering, but obviously I have the mhl adapter and have it powered or it wouldn't work on gingerbread lol!! But thanks to the last 2 replies, that cleared it up for me.

i didnt say it was a bug just said its known. and did say cm9 because it was asked before and read it on there page.. but you are correct, hasnt been implemented on any aosp rom.. im not sure which rom i used it on op, i flash a new rom every two days and stopped testing it a while back.. too many roms! i cant even remember all the names/versions lol.. im pretty sure it was a touchwiz stock ics rok and not one of the recent builds

Here's what I know so far.
Originally I got the MHL adapter for my d710 Boost. The adapter is by Menotek. That didn't work for me. I tried it with the stock boost ICS rom FH29, FG31 and it was a no go. So then I flashed the phone with the Sprint ICS rom for the d710, the FI03 still nothing. All this time, when I would connect the phone to the tv, the "No Signal" message on TV would disappear but the screen remained dark, like it was getting video but there was no content to display.
So now I have gotten the Samsung recommended MHL HDMI Smart Adapter, part number EIA2UHUNBEGSTA. I got it today and at the time I was on the CM10 rom. That rom apparently has no support for MHL as of yet, which I didn't know. Needless to say I got no video to the TV. So then I flashed the Sprint ICS FI03 rom, and what beautiful surprise, got the video going on the TV. I also tried the adapter with the boost versions of ICS FG31 and FH29, both also worked in displaying video on the TV.
So my conclusion to this is that not all MHL adapters will work with all the phones that support ti, best to get the one recommended by the manufacturer of the phone, and that ICS does support HDMI out.
first, does anyone know where i can physically walk in and purchase a usb otg cable? office dept, radio shack, eb games, wal-mart, best buy. i really dont trust just googling for something physically in a store. so if anybody has found would could u please let me know where u found it. other question, is it the rom or the kernel that enables usb host mode? or was it an ics/gb thing? im wondering if a kernel flash on blazer rom will get it working. thanks for any help.
i thought i seen one at the sprint store, i may be incorrect on that though.
ICS = No. Gingerbread = maybe
The ICS roms have it disabled AFAIK. (I've tested on CM9).
It *might* work on a Gingerbread rom but my general impression is that the kernel support isn't there. I got my adapter off Ebay and I don't think there's anything special one brand you have to have to make this work. But I could be wrong.
really? i was under the impression we deff had decent support for usb host mode but by after reading ur reply it seems as if that is completely opposite

It was originally marketed as having the potential to have USB Host but it has never actually been implemented. My understanding is that it could be done but it would require a custom kernel to make it happen.
