Huh? What do you mean "which one is better"? You only listed one app...
And if you are wondering the difference between any two apps, just try them both out.... The one you dont like you can uninstall
Check out the benchmarks that Lokifish posted up here:
http://members.cox.net/lokifish/Benchmarks.html
From the data, FullHDMI gets better scores on Sense roms, and HDMwIn gets better scores in AOSP roms with V sync off. With v sync on (not sure what that is, as I've never used it), FullHDMI gets better scores.
I agree with sitlet, though. Try them both and see what you like better. Some people claim one works better but in the end, go with what works best for you.
Thank guys. Shall thank you both, properly when I get to the comp.

VSync is Vertical Sync, It limits visible frames to the refresh rate of your display device. Ie.. You have a 59mhz refresh rate on your screen, Vsync would cap your FPS at 59. Any frames Over 59 are kinda lost, what it does is takes the 59 best frames to generate the Image, So while someone can brag dude i get 120 FPS, my 60FPS with VSync on will look FAR crisper than his 120.

Having about 100hrs of benching and testing on both apps, FullHDMI has a better UI for everyday use. Most average users have no issues getting it to work the way the want the first time. HDMwIn is a fine app in it's own right but I still have yet to find a non-geek that can get it to work the way they want on their first try. If I'm a little tired I'll even forget HDMwIn's idiosyncrasies.
In regards to rugedraw's comment about vsync, vsync on forces both displays into a sync lock which gives smoother output and 100% reproduction of the Evo's screen but at the cost of performance. Vsync off allows for faster performance but at the cost of dropped frames. Having this option is nice however the UI issues and HDMwIn's idiosyncrasies make it a no go for daily use.
To help avoid the appearance of favoritism let it be know that even with all the testing I've done on FullHDMI, I am still a paying customer and have refused the testers refund offered by orrebamas.

With AOSP, the sound will only come out of the headphone port, not the hdmi port. But at least its something.

Neither have HDMI sound at this point. It's supposed to be in today's nightly (#31). When it's released I'll check both and report back.
I have only tried HDMwIn so far, and While it worked fine when it worked. I had to keep fiddling with it to keep it working. I am using it on a Sense rom. When I get another chance to try it I am going to purchase the FullHDMI app and give it a try.
The problem I had is that the app would randomly stop mirroring. When that happened I would have to switch resolutions a few times and turn it off then back on to get it working again.
With a couple days test.for me FULLHDMI works better...

Ok Im all backed up and ready to give it a go. I just have a few questions.
I don't use the Sense Launcher and have almost nothing on my home screens. just the scrolling dock at the bottom. launcher pro.
What are some things I am going to lose?
What is the differences in the Camera? Details?
What are the differences in the Dialer?
I like the dialer on Fresh 3.2 because of the FB integration.
I don't use 4G
I have not used HDMI as my flatscreen has a CPU connected already.
Is it possible to have the gallery from 3.2 with the FB pictures tab? or is that a sense thing?
Basically I don't know what all is strictly sense.
the default aosp dialer has what i consider to be a fault. you can't just spell out the name of contact. so i started using DialerOne.
dont' forget to check out both CM6 related threads (both are a bit quiet, but will answer many of the questions you may cross...search is your friend)

not sure on the FB stuff since I don't use it except to fill in the pics in my contact list.
give it a whirl. it will be a bit different.
enjoy.
Thanks Draginmagik (sportbike rider?) I had already thought out what I wanted to ask while at work and only had time to ask while on lunch. Figured Id get some input from some people who had used both but your input is appreciated to. I forgot about dialer one. That is one of my favorite things about the dialer I have. I tried Dialer One on The moment but couldn't get it to come up with the green button. I guess thats not a problem with the evo.
A few things ive noticed in Fresh 3.2 Vs Cyanogen mod is that...
Fresh's battery life (by itself, no kernal flashed) is by far the best of any of the ROMS ive used.
I like the sense camera sooooooo much more than the default android camera so thats a no brainer for me.
I do like the AOSP call history though, its much easier to navigate to and through.
Overall, im running Cyanogen right now but ill probably go back to Fresh later tonight... the battery difference is amazing.
Reading a little more I don't see where Sprint vvm / weird text message is there or not. I hated that on the Hero AOSP roms. Also want to get opinions on GPS as i need it to work at the end of this week. I will be flashing this tonight, just want to get some feedback so dont need the "just try it" post. Again, Im just trying to get a comparison so I know what to look for faster after I flash to be sure I like it before I head home this weekend. Once I get on the road and get back home, phone playtime is over until I get caught up at home . hahaha.

Have you tried Kings ASOP kernrel? Im using #3 BFS and its great if I dont use the phone but it seems to suck down pretty quick when the phone wakes up. I'm over the battery thing, I just started carrying my usb cable in my back pocket and hit up a usb plug when I see one. lol But thanks for the info. Ill keep an eye on that too.

Can you explain the difference? I just figured out on the Fresh camera that if you touch the screen it focuses on that spot. Awesome feature. Wish my real camera did that.

not sure how the stock CM6 kernel is. a few days ago the CM6 nightly was upped to the .34 kernel. the custom ROM's are mostly on the .32 kernel still. i ran Kings on CM and it was 'ok'. the UI was smooth but the battery life reminded me of my previous stock kernels. perhaps as he rolls out more kernels that will be adjusted.

All nanded up and flashed and restored most of my apps. Pandora sounds great. Ill test it in the shop but in the hotel its loud! I didn't Know that was a feature.
I liked the look of the dialer until the phone rang. YUK!
Im trying to finish up my Manup them but not sure if the ZIP I already have for the notification bar will work with CM6
The camera work good so far, as long as the pictures take good im OK with that. I hate 3d gallery, always have. its on my list of things to fix.
I downloaded the one in the link. Your on nightlys right? do they seem stable enough for you? whats the best way to try those out? The github link is kinda over my head.

Cant forget having the ability to zoom while recording video. That's one of the big pluses of CM.
Well I found that the stock notification bar zip that I had on file won't work. I got the little blue android of death. After a quick reflash of cm6 all is well. still need that manup theme.
i'm on the 9/15 nightly. i think it was the 'swipe away items from the notification bar' feature or maybe a camera update that got me to flash up from the CM6final.
running it with -snap 7.6bfs kernel
currently, the CM6nightlys have slowed down so you just kinda keep an eye on the thread for nifty new features or updates...other than that, it's been very very stable for me since well before CM6final was released.
I happen to use andless to play flac files on my phone, and I've noticed that there is an unbearable lag and tons of choppy audio when on ultimate Droid. Has anyone been able to fix this? Even if overclocked it will lag a ton when I lock it. I don't have setcpu and the phone runs fine aside from the audio. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on? It was great on the desire z Rom.....

It could - perhaps try stock speeds (no overclocking) and see what that does.
Idk if it was a typo, but what are the file formats in your OP?
Also, have you tried updating to UD 2.4?
Are you using the native UD media player, the themed one, or the Android one?
Finally, do any other media player 'helpers' or media players at all make any difference - example - DSP?

Well, ive tried screwing with the overclocking settings. Stock speeds didnt help though. Im really not sure why. And yea. im running 2.4.0 and uh.... its gotten worse lol. Not sure why. Im listening to FLAC files using andless. as far as i can tell, the music app cannot find them. but they are on the internal memory so idk. Ive switched kernels and its better, basically it just lags like a mofo when i lock it.
It def. seems like a clock speed thing, but leaving it on defaults hasnt helped. Im really not sure. Are there any other good flac players for me to try? maybe the app sucks?
Stumped on this one .... idk anything about flac files.

Does your kernel change performance when you lock it, screen off? Can you use SetCPU to change the screen off performance?
Have you tried UD2.4 yet? Also, 2.5 is suppose to release sometime Sunday or Monday. Maybe the issue has been fixed in one of the last few updates.
Under UD settings and the overclock/underclock feature, what is the minimum clock speed set at? Maybe raising that value would help?

i just switched from the epic 4g to the evo (tried for 30 days, but the pentile matrix was a deal breaker). I flashed myn's rom. and netarchy's latest stable kernel. 4.3.1 -conservative, screen off profile too.
is it supposed to be this slow? I had to remove all the animations just to bear.
is it supposed to be so choppy?
why can't websites load quick enough? is it the flash?
the text is so blurry, is there a sharper font?
the battery? wtf. if i put it to sleep, it's ok. but with the screen on (relatively light to medium use) it won't last the day.
how do i watch videos?

I dont know what you're talking about. I'm running the plain myn with the kernel he provides and it's fast as hell and stable. Maybe the kernel u installed is causing problems.
Try doing a full wipe and reflashing with whatever he provides.
As far as the internet goes, there is a problem with the hosts file that myn has in rls5. Download ad-free from the market, click Revert, then download the newest host files. That will fix your slow internet.
Sounds like something is jacked with your flash of the rom. Did you download rls5? What radios do you have? RLS5 is blazing fast.

i actually did try that, but the battery was draining more that i liked. it probably was something that i did. I will try trouble-shooting later. Thanks alot though.
Sounds like somethin in your setup is acting up...
I've tried 3 different ROMs (CM6 currently) and havent ever had "bad" battery life... and I do use my phone, have email/FB/wether updating hourly and I check other Email, news, etc all the time... watch a video here and there.... My battery never lasts less than a day...
I'd say just wipe everything and try another ROM/kernel... hopefully that'll help
Just like everyone says wipe your cache & Dalvik. Matter fact do like i do if your running clockwork wipe it 2x or 3x's. Get Rom Manager and and update your clockwork to the latest 3.0.0.2 <<--i think thats it.
Wipe and re flash should solve your problem. I run Myns Rls5 and its flawless...
I was only on Myn for a day, but I didn't have any problems with it. I set up my friends on it though and he's been using it for the past few weeks with no speed or lag issues.
I have had the problems you describe on a few different ROMs if I'm using a kernel that doesn't play well with the phone/ROM. I would play with different kernels until you get a setup that works.
Hope that helps.
If your using Set CPU make sure is not throttled way down because this will lag and freeze your phone up. Kernel is probably making things worse as well.

I'll confirm this. I got rid of set cpu all together. battery life is just fine. get to about 10-15% by the time i charge at night.
I just want to say that compared to the Epic the EVO screen is crap. You are going to have to deal with that. It will never be as good of a picture. As for battery life this is a known issue. Battery life on the Evo is terrible. There are certain tweaks and settings that will work to where you can get the whole day out of your phone. Just try different kernels, settings and what not until you figure out what works for your phone. Believe it or not all Evo's are a little different and what works for one may not work for yours. May I also suggest purchasing an extended battery. You can find cheap ones on ebay for around $10. These will give you better battery life. Enjoy the Evo bro and don't worry you will find out what works best for your phone. Just come here and read everyday and try new things and sooner or later you will be rocking the Evo just the way you want it.

It's stable and has a good battery life, I haven't encountered any bugs and judging by the change log RC1 has everything solved except 720p recording which isn't even a stock feature but an improvement.
I'm curious also, so you're saying every feature that works on stock (minus motoblur) will also work as it should (or better) under CM7 ?
There's nothing like no wi-fi or gps not working or anything at all ?

There are plenty of dialers on the market. I opted for Dialer One, though it's quite an overkill, all the options it has. Ray Dialer is cool as well, a bit lighter and faster. Both have T9 and are free even.

But it's got awesome battery life and speed!

A very good thread!
So far, we always heard about pros on CM7. Now, we can get opposite info in one thread. It's good for developer and user. Long live to CM7!
It's better than the stock roms in every way.
My quadrant on UK stock 2.2 was 900. On CM7 it's 2200
Gallery (4 photos then crash, no picasa albums), facebook (did not sync properly) and unexpected 100% processor usage -> battery drain are other reasons to ditch stock roms and go fo CM7.
The defy is a fantastic phone, once you take the motorola software off it!

Aside from poor camera and video recording performance, CM7 is better in every way than moto's ROM. I'm sure quarx and co. will fix those bugs real soon.
CM7 is the best ROM running under Android 2.3.4 but it's main problem is the battery consumption (it's just draining two, even three times faster than Froyo) In other every aspect, it's just awesome.
This is why I get twitchy about installing anything.
Person A says ' oh the battery life is awesome'
Person B says 'its got a big battery problem'
Who to believe....
Been using CM7 for more than a month already I think. I started with Beta6. Currently on a nightly earlier than RC1. Only a few things that I noticed that are not so good.
- Camera quality is not as good
- Video camera recording skips frames
It seems like most issues are with the camera. Speed is good with CM7.
I noticed that if battery life is not as good all that is needed is to check that you have the correct baseband set and to reboot the phone if you already have the correct baseband.
I have never had any issues with wifi or 3g so far. GPS I dont really use.
Hope that helps
Caveat emptor: It makes your Defy runs faster and more updated and deny you the opportunity to explain to your spouse the rationale of buying a new phone every 12-month.
Man, isn't that hideous?
Hmm no one else reported any GPS issue, so I guess it's just me. It's not able to find and lock my position. Will have to look into it. Currently on Beta 6

mine battery life is great
if u set network on 2g
use auto task killer
and display time out to 15 sec
and with normal use . battery use about 2.5 - 3 days for mine
The bugs I found are the auto brightness not stable & video recording can't turn on the flash light, others all perfect for me,including battery life(same as Froyo) & GPS locked within 10s under clear sky
*I am using full sbf from the official Froyo 2.2 SEA18,just flash the RC1 & gapps then good to go
I'm new to using a rooted device and installing custom ROMS, and I love it!
I've loaded the latest Blackout ICS version 3.0.0, and am really impressed by how well it works. I immediately noticed that battery life is better than anything I've used previously, always different versions of Gingerbread. So that's a big improvement straight away. As others have highlighted, it's a bit laggy at times, but I overclocked the CPU and it runs much more smoothly. Even just 1.2 GHZ produced a noticeable improvement, and I'm now on just under 1.5 GHz, which I gather is a safe setting. I was worried about this affecting battery life, but if it has it's barely noticeable. I suppose it only runs at the fastest speed when it needs to.
The only problem with the ROM is the auto-brightness, which jumps up and down even in fixed light conditions. Not sure if the developers pick these threads up, but that is really the only issue I've found.
As the DHD seems to be the only device not to be getting an official port of ICS, I'd definitely recommend giving this ROM a try.
With all these other devices getting updates, is it likely that more fully working ICS ports for the DHD will be on the horizon?

Hmm, haven't really paid attention to that (I 'm mostly on WIFI). I 'll do a speedtest when I get the chance.
Edit: Did a quick test and I 'm getting 3,6Mb down / 1,6Mb up (inside a server room right now so not the best connection). Seems quite normal for my network (7,2Mb is max speed I can get from my provider). Of course the max HSDPA speed is alot higher but that 's something I cannot test.
Hi,
I've just installed, and recovered my apps, as i've wiped battery calibration i cannot talk about it, but OC is excellent. Even in default frequency the desktop turns without any lags, but as you mentionned, sometime there are some lags (typing on keyboard for instance) but i guess it's linked to the OC profile changing , try in performance instead of on demand, this should solve that.
Regarding the brightness i agree , it seems it change on "i don't know which parameter" from bright to low brightness.. so i've installed Bright day app to set the brightness along the day at low value and i've set on the main desktop the brightness widget to up from system parameters to push it up when i need, then bright day will recover the setting after a while..

Allways connected to network though HSDPA (as i take train it often check the network to change the connected cell)
Playing 20-30min 3times a days to Pirates of carabean (3D game multiplayer so connecting to the network)
Surfing a bit
no music
no video
With an harder use i reached 1d wake up to sleep:
still same network condition
playing double time at least (1 to 1,5h 3times a days)
Surfing more (1h)
no music an no video
using battery eater apps (windguru) a bit
to resume my feeling on battery is excelent, i've noticed a light improvement on idle battery drop, a bit accelerated over time (due certainly to used app remaining processes.
Let's go now to the issue i've noticed :
-Back tactil button doesn't work on phone screen while it works everywhere else
-Using smoth rosie to supersmooth show a light display trouble when reducing the app drawer windows (doubling the reducing animation)
-Light keyboard trouble doubling the A letter some time (like if the touchscreen has been typed twice when its not the case)
-blackout tweak shortcut from top task bar doesn't linked (need to go through the app drawer to access it)
-Folder creation missing from widget/app shortcut addition screen (or i didn't found it) , i use the moving app on another icon to create it (i don't know if it's the ICS new way of creating folder on desktop)
The plus i've found (don't know if it's an ICS feature) : create a folder in the lower task bar : can jump from 4 shortcut to full app contained in your phone accessible from the locked screen : I loved that !
The overall impression is really great and for an old phone that "doesn't give a good experience of ICS" following HTC, i feel this ROM fullfill my expectation from ICS on my Desire HD !
Many thanks to the Blackout team !

Haha.. very funny pub..
Btw, testing further again, i've found the sms issue (from my point of view it was linked to transferring sms not to content,) I'll give a try to the 3.1 to chek this out
I confirm the keyboard double "a" in certain text box, particularly in sms typing or web address typing
Lags linked to overclocking

Yes. Some can't send at all. Some have data drop in and out while sending and some have no issues. Seems weird to me since the hardware is supposed to be the same for the most part. I think apn and radio combo has the most to do with it.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Love this ROM...
This ROM would be my daily driver if the Wifi hot-spot worked. Has anyone found a work-around or fix? Wifi Tether didn't work either btw. I know it's WIP by the devs but they said it wasn't a major priority for them (Boooooo lol) Fingers crossed for v3.2
As noticed recently in the official thread, i've also noticed the magical battery jumps, i first guessed it was linked to the battery calibration wipe i've done before to flash the Blackout3.0 rom, but i can sometime still see this trouble also.
It happen even phone is in use but every time inbetween 30 and 5 percent of battery left. it goes down to low then readjust it to an higher value without any reason.
The phenomen come back lately less often, but maybe devs can check this out. I'm running on a SFR Desire HD recognized as an incredible S on the 3.0 rom.
