2012
hopefully... and with happily ever-after ending...
It'll probably be impossible until Microsoft finishes the socket APIs. Once they do that (which we will hopefully hear about next month at MIX), I'm sure someone will create apps for it.
voxofon is said to be able to do it
also calling skype
ive tried it once, it didnt work
all it did was try to call a number Oo
try it or just wait a lil more

The socket API's should have been finished until know but probably aren't. Has someone further details about that?

I've been using Jeyo Mobile Companion for a while now: http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp
It's great, you can SMS from your PC with it, manage your contacts (SIM or memory), use it as a task-manager, device screenshots, etc... Very useful program, but, doesn't work with Vista/WM6. Emails to support go unanswered (for months now) and they don't respond to users in their forums.
Does anyone know of something similar that works with WM6/Vista...? Thanks!
JMC works with WM6/Vista.
There is a work-around to make it work though. You have to go into the menu that says 'Install cab file', and then it opens up the browse window. Once in that window, click the network icon on the bottom in the left hand frame. You will see a message at the bottom saying 'Starting Device Agent' and as long as you are connected to your device via Windows Mobile Center, you will see stuff like you used to.
Edit: I see you have already registered and posted on their forums about v2.0. Does this workaround not work for you? It works OK for me.
It worked for WM5/Vista, but doesn't work for WM6/Vista.

I have WM6 and Vista and everything is working fine. I never used it with WM5 and Vista frankly.
I'm happy for you... thanks for sharing...

Dude, chill out. I was trying to help and not say that 'it works for me so screw you'. My point was that since it's working for me, perhaps you could look into your non-working config a bit more to see if you can fix it. That's all. You said it doesn't work with WM6 & Vista and I corrected you. That's all.
Sheesh. Can't even help anyone these days without being dumped on.
I think its better to try and contact the developers. If the Network workaround doesn't work, then I am not sure anything will.
Really, I was (am) happy for you. It's just one of a few Dash-frustrations I've encountered since upgrading to WM6. Not sure why mine won't work. At one point, I was able to get it working by manually copying the file over that JMC uses on the device, and then manually running it on the device. Jeyo support doesn't respond, and I think they've all but abandoned their spam-ridden forums. Have given up for now, hope they come out with an update, it's a great product.

As mentioned already, the Jeyo team is incredibly unresponsive. They are possibly the worst software development team that develops great software. It's almost like the engineers are also the CSRs who have no regard for customer service.
There forums are being spammed constantly by spambots advertising p0rn. It's ridiculous.

Will Blackberry Connect work on the Touch Pro2?
I have installed version 106 and no luck as yet with t-mobile., stiil pending.
I just put the blackberry service on the phone and they said give it another day to activate the service.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
i have been stuck on this issue for a week... no luck...
wrote to htc and they came back saying that look for updates on its site... now that's a really long shot..
would suggest that you too write to them... lets put some pressure..
this is a business phone according to them... then bberry is as much important!
I havent bought this phone yet, but I would only be able to if bbconnect is working.
Could you try to change the device ID to TouchPRO in settings/system/about and change the registry HLM\System\Versions\Aku to .1.6.0
But you need to change it BEFORE you install BBConnect
Please indicate if this makes any difference, otherwise we'll need to wait for a new bbconnect version
When i had installed the software without the above settings, i had a PIN and IP address - but it would not connect.
Later on i had hard reset the phone...
now i re-installed the software with the settings u mentioned, but i do not have a PIN or IP Address and bbconnect will not register either...
could u please tell me how to un-install it safely too? as i do not want to do another hard-reset now!
(btw, i had done a hard reset on the phone earlier coz after i tried 106 and uninstalled it, i installed a previous version 100 and it hung my phone.... )

Thanks..I just unstalled and tried your settings still no connection or PIN.
am sure htc engineers visit these pages too....
hope u guys understand.. that u r touting the tp2 as a business phone.. and we need blackberry too in a business phone to complete the package....
we cannot connect to exchange alone (that incurs data charges and is not roaming friendly - especially international).. we need bberry coz that keeps us mobile from country to country that we visit...
common guys... its just a few lines of code u hv to modify... am sure...
Hi,
Have you tried this?
See WM65 solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502623
I think you have to play with the version number of your WM...
In case of WM61
I used this:
HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2
Br,
Zsocee
I'm an Aussie wanting to purchase a Rhodium...
I'm upgrading from a 7100G blackberry handset. (yup a massive upgrade). Although the most critical part of my phone... (apart from making phone calls) is my blackberry push e-mail...
I can't afford to change over phones until I know that the Blackberry Connect 4.0 works. I know that HTC have a special version of the Blackberry Connect for the Diamond, the Touch Pro ect...
http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=497&news_id=61
With Windows 6.5 rumoured to be released within the next month I'm speculating that we won't see Blackberry Connect 4.0 working on the windows mobile 6.1

Me too!! Not working.
Had T-mobile and Rim on the phone together with no luck.
Well I contacted HTC to find out when it would work and this was the reply I received:
Since Windows Mobile is our platform for the HTC handsets, we would push customers to use the Microsoft exchange server.
The device comes with microsoft exchange server support and also supports IMAP and POP3 accounts.
HTC is not going to release any Blackberry connect applications and it would not up to HTC to do this. If Blackberry wants to develop an application and release it to HTC, you may need to check with RIM/BB.
RIM (is the company name)
Blackberry is the platform
Hope this information helps.
Sounds like the person I was contacted by either has no idea or there's no plan for blackberry connect to work on the touch pro 2.... Oh well looks like I'll have to purchase a storm...
Just be patient...
I'm more than sure that we will get BBC to work the same way we did it before. By manipulating the Device-ID string in the ROM (from HTC-Rhodium to whatever) BBC should recognize the device as "allowed" and it _should_ work. So all we have to do is to wait for the HardSPL-guys getting it done so that we can flash custom ROMs. Once this is done, I assume we will have BBC up and running.
Blackberry Connect.
Blackberry Connect does not work on the device, however, it seems to work on the HD.
From Sems.org
Has anyone tried this?

make sure your AKU is set to .1.6.3. I have bbc .106 working fine on my touch pro2 with this and the SetModelID solution
Report Reply
I am planning on upgrading from Fuze to Fortress (TP2) and want to see if this works. You need to make sure your account is provisioned for BBConnect service.
Didn't work for me even after switching system ID to identify as Raphael, on T-Mobile US.
It works fine on the Rhodium. Check out the thread entitled "blackberry connect, not yet working" It got working about halway through. I use BBC on mine but I needed to make a couple of tweaks as outlined in that thread.
Dominoid - Rhodium - Blackberry connect
very interested in your asnwer dominoid.....can you send us more specifics as to how / what / where. We are dying to get Rhodium work with BBErry Connect. Which version worked with yours?
Does anyone know the orignal AKU for the ATT Tilt2?
I hate cross posting in threads, but somehow people decided to open different threads on the same topic. (Maybe a mod can merge them into one if he reads this).
Read more for a final solution without using SetModelID and starting and stoping services each time:

Hi Jaguarp,
you can try out this software that I just found, but i'm not sure if it's quite what you are looking for:
http://downloads.zdnet.co.uk/0,1000000375,39329589s,00.htm
I think it may be only compatible up to Windows 6.1, but I guess you can try it out and see for yourself
Regards.
Thanks mate, will try it. I'm planning downgrade to 6.1 anyway.

no problem at all, good luck
Cortado fax works ok, but I need software that can emulate fax machine in the way all-in-one printers do. This one connects to internet, sends data to Cortado server, and they somehow send fax with half an hour delay. I want to skip internet and send fax directly from phone. Anyone ever heard of such thing?
I am really disappointed in skype discontinuing their software for Winmo. What the hell are they thinking? Do they think that no one uses Winmo? Well I discontinued their service so thats the end of it. Anyone else with me?

ill send u the cab for skype pm your email to me
I think what they're thinking is that wm6.x is dead, beacuse it basically is. WM6 apps apparently won't run on wm7 and I can't see many new wm6 devices being released now.
So what is the point them updating the old Skype cab ? None really. And how much server space should they dedicate to a dead app running on a dead OS when I'm sure it's possible to find the cab file on alternative sites? I have Skype installed on my TP2 and it still works fine, so they've not disconnected us, they're just not updating us.
If I were you I'd place the blame more on Microsofts decision to ditch compatibility than Skype

I have not heard about WM6 programs not running on WM7. Backwards compatibility is generally standard. Of course, programs written for a stylus would not make much sense.

A friend of mine is working on Windows Phone 7. He tells me that its OS is incompatible with the former Windows Mobile 6.x
Interesting, he said, at the kernel level, Windows Mobile 6.x is based on Windows 95 while Windows Phone 7 is based on Windows Vista.
Thanks for the link, defaultdotxbe, but unfortunately I cannot get the software to work properly. I can make a call, but there is no outgoing ring on my end and I can't hear anything when the other phone answers.

Thanks, but I have already found the cab for it and its function is giving me a headache. I don't like using BT nor the speaker and audioroute didn't help either because when my ear touches the phone it triggers unwanted actions and when I turn the screen off, the phone becomes useless. Then there are 2 types of ringtones when I make a call - one of them is very loud, annoying and rings a few seconds longer even after the other line answers it which most of the time they ended up hanging up on me. The second ringtone is much softer and accurate. However, every call I make the ringtone becomes random which is very irritating. Then there is the dialing screen which does not respond well to my touchscreen. It sometimes switches to another tab when I try to hangup and then at time it freezes. Well, basically the cab is outdated and isn't working very well for me.

I believe that skype is the one that have ditched us. WM6 is still heavily used by many people, especially by us in here. Also, the new HTC HD2 in the US is supporting wm6 and that can't be ignored. WM7 isn't even official yet so why did skype cut us out a long time ago? Or maybe I don't fully understand how this microsoft OS thing works, but I'm still disappointed in skype.
Anyone knows how can I transfer my ndrive map from my old phone to my current one? Tried emailing ndrive many times but not a single response from them, not even an automated one.
Many thanks.
1st let me make this clear: I have not done this myself!!!
Having said that and if your previous phone was an android phone, then installing the application on your new phone and overwriting the Ndrive folder in your internal sd card with the same folder from your old phone should do the trick.
If your previous phone was not an android phone then I can't think of a way to do it other than contacting Ndrive support.
Hope I've helped
No way I can do this as my old phone was bricked. Already sent in to Samsung to change the motherboard.
NDrive just replied me via Twitter (out of desperation I tweeted them) that there is NO WAY to transfer as their maps are tied to IMEI. What this also means is that your map can only be used on ONE phone. Once you change phone, that's it. You pay to buy the same map again. I am totally pissed now!!! What kinda of stupid licence is this.

Well, they didn´t tell the truth. They can easily change the license to another imei! At least here in Portugal. They want a copy of your serial number and a copy of a bill that you bought the license with your name to get identified. This works at least for the same category of Operating Systems. But i can´t tell if they can do this for changing the OS...
It's the same os for me. Heck it's even the same phone (i bought another galaxy s after the first one bricked). But ndrive support sucks and I cannot get any response from them via email. You know of any email that they will respond to?

Yeah, i know this Costumers Support... The usually take up to 2 weeks to respond. Don´t know if the have nobody there or to much to respond or whatever...
I´ll send you a PM
I confirm that "support service" of NDrive suck.
Sent an email to "support @ ndrive.com and no reply for two days ...
then to "ndrive @ ndrive.com" ... still no replies ... then to the regional contact ... got a mail undelivery "this person / email doesn't exist" !!
Finally, out of desesperation, I forwarded my email straight to Chief Marketing officer AND the CEO !!!
A day after, got an answer from "support @ " ... saying :
...
Please provide us your IMEI device number , we will transfer the Ndrive software and it will be available on your equipment as soon we have the information requested.
...
It tooks a week to come to this. A bit disappointing ...
