Extracting a specific .XAP from the Phone - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

I have been using LG Optimus 7 for months now. There is a specific error for this device that cannot be fixed, except by performing a hard reset. This is a 8000FFFF error while trying to update, so there is no way to back up the phone's apps either. This is most annoying, as someone who has used an iPhone before, you could always back up your apps in iTunes, and reinstall them at anytime.
My problem is that LG provided some free apps for 60 days, and now they are no longer in the Marketplace. These apps are not tied to their actual Marketplace equivalents (such as Weave), and were published independently by LG in their own app store. Since there is no way to back up apps and no way to reinstall them, I am wondering if anyone has a solution for extracting the specific .XAP files from the phone, as in manually backing up these apps. I am not looking to post them anywhere, and it is simply for my own personal use to be restored to the phone after I am able to update the phone. All other apps can be reinstalled from the Marketplace, and data can still be backed up with the Zune Software, but unless I hard reset, I cannot receive the update.
Please, if anyone knows how to back up or extract a specific .xap from an LG Optimus 7, let me know, or even PM me, if it cannot be discussed here.
Thank you.
EDIT: Here is the link to the problem that many are experiencing with this phone, and can only be solved by hard reset apparently.

Is there anyway to backup Copy Protected Apps?

I've come across three Apps so far that prevent me backing them up using ASTRO:
1. Contact2Sim Pro - This is a Paid App but one I paid good money for!
2. History Eraser - It's Free! Why bother to copy protect it?
3. Raging Thunder Lite - Also free
Is there any way to still back these up? Or do you have to Root? Thanks
I don't think you have to. The Market remembers what you've downloaded if you factory reset, even if you don't back up the apps. You might need to actually remember what they are (downloads should tell you, but if you back up and then reinstall from the card, it won't remember them)
Thanks.
I prefer having a physical copy of the file though. Sure it's still likely to be there, if I need to reinstall it but I cannot guarantee this. If I've got the APK file, I know for sure I'll be able to reinstall it.
EDIT: This person here has just done a Hard Reset and is now missing at least one App: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6433167#post6433167
Anyone? Thanks.
I'm curious to know if there's a way too.
Amo navi-x which I paid for is copy protected, & it has an update, but I'm generally careful not to update apps without knowing I can roll back to the previous version if there's a problem with the update. I'm using an unrooted samsung stratosphere with appmonster pro & my backup pro. I understand their reasons for copy-protecting it to prevent piracy, but it makes it risky to update. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Use ESfile explorer to backup the apk to your SD card.
that requires root.
copying it to sd through a file browser requires rooting, which is very difficult to do on the samsung stratosphere, because the bootloader is designed to not load if a non-stock rom is detected.

Missing Apps from Market

I've an Evo which I had previously rooted and loaded fresh 0.3. I am waiting on Sprint to get me a replacement phone so I restored my NAND backup so that I would have something close to stock to return. Funny thing though, since I restored, I was looking to put a couple of paid apps back on the phone, namely SlingPlayer and WeatherBug Elite, however they don't appear in a search of the market anymore. Download AppBrain which does locate these apps, however when I try to load them, it fails.
So I'm confused, are these applications really unavailable or is there something with my phone which won't let me see them? How can I tell?

I dont think you are supposed to share NAND across phones. Maybe some certificate now fails to match your hardware, and is blocking these market apps.
No I restored on the same phone in preparation for returning my existing phone for a replacement so indeed I restored my NAND backup to the same phone.
Run RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe
It will wipe your phone, but take you back to 100% stock. That is the original rom. Then you can see if market works.
I'm experiencing the same thing after doing the SimpleRoot for the OTA. I use the mobile banking and TV.com apps a lot and I can no longer get them in the market.
My wifes phone is Stock and she is not having this issue. Iin the fewest words, HELP!?!

wp7 Apps wont start...

Hello people,
Today i was trying to install apps in my Trophy, but not success, always give me an error, it´s unlocked with chevronwp7 and when i trying to deploy any app, give me a connection error...
Now, i´m trying to run any app installed in or go to Marketplace and i can´t start any application, trying to download and install some and not success...
Any idea?
Regards
This kind of bugs make me nuts...
Just work with Restore factory this bug...
Any idea why i cant get connection with deploy tools?
Regards
if you find zune/market place not loading up, restart your phone. it is a bug related to both products. you do not need to reset your phone, only restart it. hopefully MS fixes it.
as for getting errors, if they're data intensive apps like facebook/twitter, they may not work accordingly if there is a data issue with your carrier (as i've been experiencing with mine quite frequently lately).
as for the op statements, sometimes zune goes down, so you should just try again in a few hours.

[Q] Phone not restoring properly after reset

Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my phone. I recently performed a soft reset, but all my apps and games have not been restored, only some of them. Is there anything that would trigger the rest of my apps to restore?
Thanks for your help.

You must mean 'hard reset'. Soft reset is simply reboot the phone and nothing is supposed to be lost.
There are two ways to download and install apps: download and install directly from phone or download and install from Zune software on the PC. Apps installed from these two methods are treated differently after a hard reset. I saw conflicting reports of which group will auto-reinstall (haven't done any hard reset myself). But surffice to say that the apps that didn't auto-reinstall will require you to manually download and install them. There is no way to 'trigger' it automatically.
Apps installed OTA onto your phone will need to be manually reloaded, one at a time, but you won't have to pay again. It will recognize that you already paid. Apps installed while attached to Zune on the PC should autoload when you connect to Zune again.

Thank you both for your replies, and the correction on the reset term. Too bad I didn't know that apps installed from the phone would not be backed up. Had I known this, I probably would not have done a hard reset, or I would have at least made a list of them all... Oh well, I guess it's just going to take a little time to get them all back.
Thanks again!
Zune already has a list of all the apps you've installed, whether through Zune or ota.

So it does, thanks again! though you would think that if it can keep track of the apps you've downloaded, it should be able to restore them for you, or at least have a button beside them as a restore option.
One other thing to note is that for every app that is listed in my purchase history, it is listed 4 times, even trial versions. I find that kind of strange.
Agreed on both counts... Should offer install option at that list, and multiple listing is odd...

Odd & problematic behaviour after 6.0 update Any ideas ?

First of all, I salute everybody that chips in to this comunity, active or less ! G'day, gents !
And now, to the problem(s) :
I have a stock 16g/2g D855 (Romania/Orange), no root, no tweaks, nothing, except an original battery change couple of months back.
My phone didn't take OTA updates, don't know why, but i've been updating it via PC Suite / Mobile Support Tool.
Last update was 5.0, all was fine.
Now, on the other hand, after the update to 6.0, a small hell broke loose.
First of all, until now, after the power on LG image, i had a small LG animation, now it has changed to some stupid Orange explosion crap + wallpaper. That doesn't bother me that much, but the fact that whatever wallpaper i choose, it changes it back to the Orange one right after restart...
Second, and third, and fourth & fifth ...
QuickCircle apps no longer work (even though they are activated and selected), so my "submarin"ish flip case is useless... Facedetection, no reaction... KnockCode, same thing, doesn't even lock the phone, no matter the security type. I can't even change my Display Off style anymore. Developer Options, gone, not available for this user (altough user is owner) and clicking hundreds of times on build no. doesn't do anything. Notification bar, no kind of available selection on it (like wifi or data, etc), except user & the notification button in the button bar doesn't even slide it down. Plus a couple more of these "small unfortunate events" :silly:
But the biggest problem is that when and if i turn on the wifi, the phone almost instantly restarts, and keeps doing so if i'm not fast on the touch and disable it (like split second after finshing boot) and thus becoming an unusable plastic...:crying:
So i've tried reinstalling the update, via Recovery Upgrade two times (all went smooth) but problems are still there. I'm starting to think that this might be a something wrong with the update. Eitherway, main concern is, what do i do now ? Wireless is 30% of my job...
Specifing that i'm pretty much a noobie at this kind of stuff, thank you all for taking the time to read about my problem !:highfive:
the software may be having some issues, i recommend that you download the kdz file for the software and flash it via flashtool, all problems should be fixed and the o2 bloat will be removed.

Thank you for your reply
But doesn't this require root ?
And most of all, won't i lose everything ? Settings, accounts, contacts, data ? Or is there anyway to backup everything ?

It doesn't require root.
But it would certainly wipe everything including your internal sd. The only way is to take a backup using any app and moving the backup files temporarily to a pc or any other external storage.

Ok, seems logical. Any advice about some software that cand do that properly ?
I mean all & all. Accounts, passwords, contacts and so on...because I can't remember my Google account pass (or any other one for that matter) for the life of me, and the maps to the nav app are a pain to dld.
And besides that, can the backup be actually performed, since i can't access the Developer Debug Mode ?

There are many apps on the play store for taking backups. You can use the to take backups of apps, contacts, messages and so on.
However to backup accounts, passwords and app data you require a rooted device and could use titanium backup.

Well then that's out of the question... Having no data plan, any Play Store installation is ruled out, could probably be done via PC Suite.
I've tried using Helium, doesn't do much good. I'm thinking about rooting the phone, but with my luck, i'll probably brick it.
I wonder if there's anyway to find my Google account pass...
L.E. according to devtester, LGD855 MyIMEI A6RRTN D85530C_00 (D85530C_00_0211) is the latest version for it, pretty much the same as my last update. So ,do i re.dld this one and flash it or i go with the D85530B_00_1217 from the Quick Download page ?
L.E.2 : So far i've tried both kdz files mentioned above, plus D85521C_00_1204.kdz (Lollipop). All unsuccesful. In Download Mode, using Flash Tool as is, selecting Normal than Start. The Marshmallows kdz show the exact same problems and Lollipop doesn't even want to install. It goes up tu 4% on Pc (0 on phone) and Retry appears until Exit.
Aw man, the truth MUST be out there...
Try thos link to fix the lg flash tool stuck at 4%

Thanks for the link, but i managed to somehow solve the problem :good:
ok, so it took some time, but finally figured this bugger out.
For anyone that needs assistance in the future, let me know and i'll support you as much as i can.
It took me 2 crazy noobie a** days, and almost lost everything, but somehow i managed not to.
So, from the start, let me just say that Remember Password on FF was heaven for me.
Mainly, for not losing everything, you definetly NEED to know your Google account. For me it was setup before to back everything up, but somehow, i forgot the pass This is where i used my PC and logged in to G+ (again, thank God for pass remembering) and reset the pass by sms. Spot on !:victory:
Then connect your phone via usb and within PC Suite (Lg Bridge didn't work for me btw) drag & drop everything from Phone to PC. Apps, contacts, messages, all.
Next, the only sofware that actually worked in flashing my G3 was LGUP. Had some problems with it by not recognising my phone, but i found a version that worked.
Once that done, i removed the Sd Card, entered Download mode and tried flashing D85530B_00_1217.kdz (MM) by selecting Upgrade. That din't work. Same problems. Tried it again, but this time selecting Refurbish (wich wipes out everything) and voila ! Alive & kickin' !
Then it's just a matter of patience resetting your phone back. Enter the Google account with your freshly changed pass and the phone will basically ask you to restore itself back.
This was a long story short, but if anyone needs more detailed aspects, let me know.
The only thing i didn't figure out yet is why the Orange bloated kdz had Slow Mo option for camera and this standard one doesn't.
Thanks to everybody for their support and the community for hosting us !
Cheers:highfive:
