Has anyone had any luck getting on of these to pair to a aftermarket "ipod ready" cd decks?
heres a link if anyone is intrested

I have this hooked up to my alpine deck with the ipod adapter cable. It pairs up to my evo and the audio controls on my deck control the music app!
Sprint used to sell this for 10 bucks in store but they can't even order them any more. Mines the same adapter but has a sprint logo on it.

Hmmm I want it so bad to work, odd thing it pairs with no passcode.
but my Sony deck just says no device when on the USB input.
Hopefully this is just a cm6 issue and will be resolved
Awesome. I hate that *EVERYTHING* is "iPod/iPhone" compliant. It's not the only damn device out there, its why I bought the EVO!
I hope they start supporting Android more or make decks that can control via bluetooth or something
I have the Insignia version of this and got it to pair with two Evos no problem. I use it everyday on my Belkin iPod car adapter thingamajig.
It didn't ask for a passcode. It just pairs up as a stereo audio device. Does your iPod adapter supply power? Is there a light on the bluetooth adapter to confirm it?

I want to say about 1.5 - 2 years ago? I picked it up off of ebay as a refurb. It's been discontinued for a while though, and I haven't seen any for sale...
It's this one though:

There's power, I think i might need the "Sony iPod one wire digital cord" ill have to go to best buy and try one out if they let me
I just reread your post man and tried to gain a better understand. I think I see what your problem is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you're saying is you are connecting the FIPO to a USB dock cord to a USB port? The thing is, the FIPO actually converts the bluetooth signal into a straight audio signal. If it is plugged into a USB port, the port can't handle an audio feed, it needs a data feed. When you plugged in your iPod, did the 'do not disconnect' logo pop on it? If so then it is mounted as a disk drive. Since you mentioned a USB port, have tried plugging your EVO into it using the standard cable?
If you want to utilize this iPod adapter, you'll have to connect it to a straight audio input. So you would need something like this:
http://www.cablejive.com/universal-dock-converter
That provides an audio out from the bluetooth adapter (which would go to the stereo input), and the USB cable would be the power source.
I hope I imagined you're setup correctly, if not ignore what I said lol.

you may be right, I have so monkeying around to do. I wanted this for a wireless solution. tomm I am going to see if just plugging a ipod in with tis standard cord works. If not im going to see about the "sony ipod one-wire digital cable"
From what I can tell, the placement of the connectors is about right (width), but I think one of the connectors is upside down if you compare the EVO USB/HDMI and the Atrix USB/HDMI, so I am not sure that it would fit.
Next step in my brainstorm would be to use extension cables to compensate for the twisted connector, and rig up a jig/adapter plate to securely hold the EVO onto the laptop dock.
Once the hardware could be connected, we have to deal with software, firmware, kernels and the like. I've seen that HDMI mirroring is mostly done, and I imagine that the Motorola webtop software will be hacked/ported or cloned at some point. Although, even just running the EVO on the main screen would be sweet enough for me (for now).
I would declare it cooler than sliced bread if I could use my EVO with the Atrix laptop dock, or had something similar for my EVO. (if I could just get HDMI in, I'd use an old laptop as a shell).
Thoughts and ideas?
i seriously doubt it will work. although the microusb and hdmi might be the same, there is a lot on the software side that has to be done in order for the evo to work. its probably proprietary code, which wouldnt be a huge deal, but there wont be enough interest due to the fact the dock is 200 dollars. so it may be possible, but i wouldnt have my hopes up
I'm pretty stingy in general, although more liberal when it comes to technology and gadgets, and I don't feel that $200 would be wasted or expensive (more than that would quickly get too expensive though) on something like that. Maybe just because I have dreamed of doing something similar ever since I got my Sony u7 50p a few years back, but I still think it would be awesome!
USB host and full HDMI out are mostly driver module issues and would be covered by GPL. As far as the UI,a launcher switch triggered by "Dock Mode" is already in place, it would just need an options pop-up to select which mode you wanted to use like the USB does when you connect to a PC. Something like And-Win home screen would work as a desktop UI to start. The only issue I see would be if there's a validation check from the lapdock or media dock.
Last I looked (a while ago) I could not find any mention of people using/turning on USB host support on an EVO. Do you know anything about that? I'm not sure what the GPL is though...
You woulld be much better off (and cheaper) to buy a 13inch monitor, connect hdmi from evo to monitor, and use the FullHDMI app, with a bluetooth keyboard of course.

The connectors aren't even CLOSE.
The motorola webtop stuff is actually a full linux environment, and when it boots up it uses a whole core of the tegra.
Keep in mind the atrix is still "running" android on the other core.
Even if this WAS possible, it would be so entirely laggy it would not be worth it at all. (And having tried the dock for the atrix, it's a complete waste of money in my honest opinion. _ANY_ netbook priced at ~$250 USD outperforms it.)
Hate to break it to you, but no, you'll never see it "ported."
As far as I can see, the best you're going to get is hdmi out (to a regular screen) and maybe once someone gets around to enabling the proper USB option host based devices. (keyboard, etc. But enjoy hacking your cables up to make a proper adaptor)
I don't suppose you have a lead on anyone (or thread) working on USB host for the EVO do you?
While you may be able to mirror on the laptops screen and have it charge. The only thing thats seemingly impossible is to make use of the touchpad through a hardwired connection. You're better off to trying to jerry rig a bluetooth keyboard w/ integrated track pad, a tiny HDMI enabled screen, and a battery source.

The closest thing I've found was a "needs testing" driver for the HD2 port of the Evo ROM. There doesn't seem to be much interest from the devs.
Sounds like a plan. You should pick one up asap.

I personally have the lapdock AND the OG EVO works with it (using AnthraX) although I had to twist the HDMI cable it does so on screen...
It works in Landscape as well as Portrait but the USB's do NOT work with it...
any idea on how to get it working?

I'm sorry buddy I have switched company's but I believe it is just a matter of drivers needed to be installed
Looked around to find more info but couldn't find quite what I was looking for. First off, I wanted to confirm that any bluetooth keyboard/mouse should be compatible with the Atrix. Second, (assuming the first was correct...) I wanted to hear if people have tried other keyboards/mice with the Atrix. I'm assuming that the android related keys found on the official motorola keyboard are still available on normal keyboards, just labeled differently?
Thanks in advance!
Do we really need bluetooth? What about a usb hub and wireless kb / mouse? I don't own a bluetooth kb and mouse so dropping $100 on these is almost pointless. Anyone try this method yet:
micro usb ----> usb adapter ----> usb hub -------> usb kb /usb mouse
Either way... basically just trying to find other options for the webtop. I looked around and found out that I was mistaken about the pricing on bluetooth keyboards and mice. Apparently the Motorola keyboard/mouse aren't too ridiculously priced compared to other bluetooth options. I still feel like I could justify a regular keyboard more because I could still use it for a computer or something. Can't help but feel the moto keyboard would go unused aside from the atrix.
I'm one adapter short of testing the hub idea, I'll let you know sometime this week if it works. Right now I'm just using it with the virtual trackpad/kb...
If anyone wants to try this here is a USB gender changer that should allow you to plug a hub into the phone (for a usb keyboard/mouse) using the included micro usb cord. even tough its ~$3.00 I dont care about webtop enough to try it.

Just tried my razer Orochi blue tooft mouse when docked in the laptop dock and it paired right up and works perfect
So if this mouse works i would think any one will work.
Apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse work, if that's the way you roll. The media buttons on the keyboard will even fire up the music player on the phone. Brightness buttons don't do anything though.
It looks like the Atrix's own bluetooth keyboard is quite nice quality and very compact. does anyone have it that can give us a little review of it? I wouldn't mind using it as my main keyboard for my desktop.
Does anyone have the apple BT keyboard running on a windows 7 system? does it work well?
Logitech DiNovo Edge successfully paired with Atrix
I successfully paired my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard with my Atrix today and hooked the phone up to my TV via HDMI. Worked perfectly. Loved having the connection mod without needing a dock. Was able to do a lot from the couch
The DiNovo Edge has a built in mouse pad and is very sturdy and high quality. One of my all time favorite keyboard/mouse combo's.
Hope this helps.
I had actually looked at the edge in the past... seems like it would be a good pairing for the Atrix. Might have to give that a try. I just need to justify the cost to myself.

That's not the right adapter at all... you need a female A -> male micro for one device, or however you want to then convert the other side. I'm waiting on that part then mine goes from that to a mini usb into my hub. might not work but we'll see.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023FTRUO
Well non-bt doesn't work for me at least. I'm sure we just have to load a driver or something. I tried atrix -> male micro usb -> regual usb female -> male usb -> mini usb -> hub. It should be noted it was a powered usb hub. My mouse plugged into the hub didn't work, so I gave up haha.

Is there anyway you can get the webtop on the Nexus?
I'm torn between the RAZR and Nexus for my upgrade
If nexus can get Webtop then that's an easy win
Wouldn't count on it.
It won't work since the Nexus does not have a mini hdmi port.
It would probably be much easier to build something like webtop from the ground up than port it. In either highly unlikely youll see either.
I invented cyberspace. You're trespassing.
HDMI on Nexus
Just a thought all, the Samsung Infuse comes with a Mini USB adapter/connector that outputs to HDMI. Whether or not this could aid in Webtop development for the Nexus I'm not sure. Just a thought! but also agree this may be a lost cause!
Webtop
Hello,
A little birdy told me wait..wait...wait
Also, the Galaxy Nexus has an MHL port, which is a combo of USB-on-the-go, HDMI, and USB charging. You can get a USB/HDMI -> MHL cord for all MHL phones.
is there someone who tried the hdmi functionality?
In any case webtop like will not be possible since you can connect both hdmi and mouse on the same port
You can create something close. Simply get the MHL cable everyone is talking about, a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, connect it all to the nexus and you have one giant tablet-like interface =) Not really too portable since you can't carry around an LCD screen though, lol.

More like netbook+phone. See Atrix, Bionic, etc. Although it's more acceptable than optimal, Moto has a large head start on this type of solution.
For tablet+phone, Asus may have an interesting entry in 1H2012.
I came across Airdroid if your connected to a Network. This is Pretty awsome. I just like texting with a keyboard. It runs in your desktop Browser

To be honest, the only thing I like about the Razr is SmartApps, the Design of the phone, and moto always does a good job of media sharing ala DLNA.
The software and screen resolution alone make the galaxy nexus better. Updates straight from google and the newest O.S. make it better. I'm sick and tired of manufacturers trying to reskin android and delaying updates to "make sure it's compatible with their phones".
With that said, the closest thing you can do, right now, would be to get the MHL adapter. Or use something like airdroid.

Airdroid isn't related with webtop.
Webtop is good when you haven't got a computer, in this case you can use a monitor and your phone as a computer.
With AirDroid you need a computer to access the phone, pretty useless imho.
Some interesting reads:
This talks about how the MHL technology can be used to hook the Nexus up to an HDMI TV. The main problem is not being able to charge the phone while using it, unless you have a newer MHL supporting phone.
http://www.talkandroid.com/89887-galaxy-nexus-desktop-better-than-motorola-webtop/#.T24bZzEV0QQ
Which made me think, someone out there could very easily create a "go between" that would hook up to the USB of the phone, a charger, and the HDMI of the TV... and I was right!
http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters...F380/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1332616212&sr=8-8
I'm going to be playing with this stuff a bit more after that adapter comes in the mail...
The Nexus can output to HDMI. All you need is a program to alter output vs a straight mirror.
What most people do now, is lower their DPI to 190 and use a bluetooth mouse/keyboard.
If someone were to build a program to alter the output, like a full screen launcher with a faux status bar, etc... you could also use the touchscreen as a mousepad. But honestly a Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse is best so you can put the phone near the TV/Monitor and you can be across the room.
I did this with my G2x (which had a dedicated HDMI port) and not only used a keyboard/mouse but also my PS3 gamepad for games.
Hi Everybody!
I've been looking on forum for a thread similar but i couln't find one, so i'll try to explain what i'm trying to do with my phone and let's see if someone already got it.
Well, since i got the SGS3 on my hands for the fist time, i could feel how much hardware it does have and thinking about how much it's portable and easy to take, so i start to thinking if is posible to make some kind of "DeskDock" with some accesories.
I have a Logitech Unifying keyboard and a mouse wich means that with only one dongle i can connect both devices to it. Last week i brought a OTG cable and i tryed to connect it on my phone and it worked almost perfectly (some issues with keyboard layout, but nothing else), i got impressed that all functions keys from my keyboard was working.
Ok, got this point i was thinking how could i connect my OTG cable and also a MHL cable, so i can have HDMI-OUT and my keyboard and mouse working.
If this work i can have a totally functional desktop with 24 inches screen. I know that maybe people wont see any sense making it, but in my case i don't have a Netbook (i don't even like) and if i could get this working, i was thinking about run linux on my phone and get a full desktop experience.
Is anybody there who tried it?
I was thinking about some kind of USB HUB, but i have no idea if my phone would support it...

Why not just by an "android PC" or the android TV box. It is basically a powerful tablet computer in a 3 inch square box with HDMI, two or three usb ports, wireless wifi and and SD card port. Cost less than $75 or you can spend more and even get a dual core . I have one on both of my big screen tv's with a wireless mouse (but for pc application you just use a combo keyboard mouse. Much easier and much more simple.

For most of us, it is the ability to take our "PC" with us, as a working tablet. For others, it is that when we get home, we want to just plug in our phone, and have larger everything.. but still use all the apps, and bookmarks etc that are the on the phone. For the rest.. it is about the cool factor.
