[Q] Multiple exchange - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Froyo supports multiple exchange servers, but the HTC sense email app does not.
Has anyone with a newer version of sense, or gingersense noticed if this has changed or not?
I have played with HD ROMs, but besides gmail I do not generally set up my exchange account on ROMs other than my "daily driver" (LeeDroid), so I've never tested this.
Has anyone else?

"Android 2.0 (Eclair) is due to be released soon, amongst a number of new features Eclair will boost support for multiple email accounts running on the same device and offer full multiple Exchange account support."
I tryed some custom ROM with 2.0 and 2.1 and none support multiple exchange account.
Stock Android 2.0 upwards should have this feature. Unfortunately it doesn't support policy enforcement. Only HTC Roms support policy enforcement, but no multiple Exchange accounts, from what I know.
I think there are some Exchange-Mail-Apps in the marketplace. I remeber to have used the 3rd party app TouchDown Echange until hero came out with native exchange support.
Try one of these apps, they bring you a fully separated inbox. Maybe not quite well integrated into OS-features, but usable für reading and writing mails + calendar appointments.
I don't know of a single device that can handle multiple *exchange* accounts i.e multiple ActiveSync accounts.
You can have one configured with activesync and one configured with imap sure, but both won't be typical *push* activesync.
I don't believe it to be possible, but maybe im wrong?
I decided that the private mail i have at exchange with the domain redirects to Gmail and it will work.

[Q] Exchange on Froyo??

I am watching the development of Froyo and have been using roms on my HTC desire, is there a way to so that Exchange email will work the same as on 2.1 ROMs as from my research to work on Froyo my IT department at work need to change some IIS 7 settings on the server for Froyo to receive emails which they wont do for me, frustrating when 2.1 ROMs work seemlessly with Exchange mail. i have tried to install HTC Mail app on Froyo without luck, Appreciate your help

[Q] Froyo (official) and multiple exchange accounts

I just installed the official Froyo build. Unfortunately, it looks like multiple exchange accounts is not supported.
Do any of the other 2.2 roms (e.g., Sky Raidar) support multiple exchange accounts (preferably with sense - I actually like it)?
Also, assuming another ROM will work, what is the best way to flash the ROM without losing my settings. The official build updated without the need to wipe (only issue I found so far is I had to uninstall/reinstall swype). If I install another ROM, does titanium backup do a good job of restoring the phone's app and settings? (don't want to have to redo all my screens, etc).
Thanks
I've never known any device to sync multiple exchange accounts. But this is my first Android device coming from iPhone.
Unfortunately, the HTC Mail application in general does not allow for multiple exchange accounts...
Is there a way to get the non HTC stock mail application installed (or do any of the vanilla roms support multiple accounts)? Unfortunately, I assumed Froyo would enable multiple accounts (I am already using touchdown and the native support to get 2 accounts, but I have a few additional ones).
Thanks
You know what they say when you assume. My only recommendation would be using Touchdown which you already do. Depending on what you use your exchange accounts for (work or personal) you can setup some forwarding rules to have everything come into one spot. Only thing with that is it is against businesses policy (or it should be) to forward company property like that.
The stock Email.apk in /system/app from CM6 works fine on the incredible. The ONLY PROBLEM is that when you read an email from somewhere else, the notification is not removed from the status bar, and it stays there until you re-open the application. My only gripe.
Interesting. I am awaiting the OTA and use the stock 2.1 for accessing an exchange server. Hotmail is setup as a separate account. I heard Hotmail will go live this week with Activesync support, so will this mean I will have to choose which one I want, giving up one, beig hotmail obviously.
Thanks.
No just setup your Hotmail as POP or IMAP, whichever it supports.

How would I go about installing this? Is it as simple as installing other apps? I used the CM6 ROM for a couple weeks and loved it but random reboots forced me back to my previous ROM.

Hotmail doesn't support IMAP which is a large part of why people want to set it up as an activesync account. Pop just sucks...
It's sad that the HTC client doesn't support more than one activesync account, the Pre they gave me at works handles up to 8 I believe (have 3 currently setup on it).
That is not to say that the Pre's activesync implementation is better, I wish it would let me choose which parts of the account I want to sync rather than forcing an all or nothing approach, but it is nice to have real push email on all my accounts with it.
The Pre can sync tasks as well... I wish HTC would implement this.
Has anyone figured out an acceptable work-around that doesn't involve non-working notifications or paying for touchdown?

If you google the second part of your question you can find it......I'm just saying.
Improved Email App
I installed Improved Email from the marketplace. It supports multiple Exchange accounts and syncs email, calendar and contacts.

[Q] GB Sense 3.0 + Exchange ActiveSync = Not working

I have now found a well functioning ROM, InsertCoins. The only thing that is not ok, is that I can't set up my Exchange account with ActiveSync in sense 2.1-3.0. Have tried several ROMS and have found that there must be something with the security policy in the sense 2.1-3.0 that is different. LeeDroids ROMs work "normally", but they do not have the user interface I want.
Got a tip about using TouchDown with ActivSync. It works, but then I'm stuck with touchdowns calendar, which I do not like anything special.
I'm surprised that I don't see many that have the same problem as me, so I wonder if there's something about the policy in my company who do this, or there are few that uses exchange account on their htc rooted desire .....
I'm running InsertCoin GB Sense v1.03 with Exchange Active Sync to our corporate mail server. Works just fine.
Our company uses a policy to force a PIN or password, with a maximum unlock time of 1 hour. Also it is Exchange Server 2007 (not sure which updates/fixes have been applied ATM).
Which version of Exchange Server is running in your organization?

I think that my company use Exchange Server 2007.
I get this message after I get through all registration and ready to finish...
"Exchange Policy error
Unable to sign in to your Wxchange account because your policy settings are incompatible with those on server.
Please contact your IT team for assistanse"
I believe that our security policy have max unlock time of 15 minutes..
Try another mail-client like e.g. K-9 Mail:

I can confirm that. No problems at all with Exchange integration. I have 3 (!) accounts push-synced on my RCMixS 1.6.2. Must be something else then.

Tried RCMixS 1.6.2 now, get the same error after i make pin code.
In additional to the error message it says:
Security Policy Required
Policy Setting incompatible:
Allow storage card
Allow Desktop Sync
Contact your IT administrator for assistance...
I could stay at a working sense 2.1 version, but after seeing all the new features, I really whant to find out what it is that is not compatible. If not, I'll use Touchdown, it's the only way to get exchange to work.
So, what do Touchdown have/do, that can work around androids/my companys security??? I whish I knew... I hate the calendar in Touchdown, and I'm not able to use Jorte calendar or other calendars....
I did not have this problem with old interface, in any roms....
It makes me insane that I cant find out why this is....
Update: It was my company that had to make ajustments on exchange server to newer versions of Android. Now it works fine.
I have the same problem
I'm having the same issue. After running MikFroyo for about 6 months, I've been impatiently waiting for some GB rom to get stable and fully-functional enough to use as a daily--then of course as soon as I had a taste of Sense 3.0, that's what I want to run... For me, I'd be fine with using Touchdown (I just want the email), but I get the same error with that app as I get with Sense's embedded Exchange AS setup: Authentication error. I've checked and rechecked my username and password several times, and it works fine when I go back to Froyo (whatever sense). I'm on MikG sense 2.1v0.5, and I've tried VR Kingdom (Sense 3.0). I really like this MikG rom, that's pulled several elements of S3.0 into the 2.1, because it will run on my favorite kernel from way back in the Eclair days when I was running BakedSnack (this is the first GB ROM I've found that runs smoothly under my BakedBattery kernel-- hero-over #7).
I've rambled. I plan to check out some of the other mail programs mentioned above...
UPDATE: I tried Touchdown and k-9 Mail and DroidMail, all with unsuccessful results. I had submitted a case with the IT group at my company this morning and was waiting for some action on that (IT group is in India). A tech IM'd me and asked me what version of Android I was running--I told him 2.3.3, and he disappeared. So, I tried one more time on the native Exchange AS app, and viola, it worked--email, contacts, calendar are all syncing now. The notes in the case closure email state, "we have enabled your new device ID in server..." It seems like I noticed awhile ago that what my phone was called had changed, and I thought it was a GB thing, not a sense thing... Anyway, this may be a one-off case, or it may apply. Either way, I just wanted to update.
I also have problems using HTC's default mail client ever since Sense 2.1 and Sense 3.0.
I get the incompatibility with our corporate server due to:
- Remote Desktop
- Desktop sync
- S/MIME
Worked fine with Sense 2.0.
HTC must have changed/enhanced their security policy which has caused this issue.
Touch Down works, but if you actually go the "Security policies", it does mention incompatibilities with above, but it is ignoring them for now.
I wonder how one can report this to HTC?
I have similar problem - my corporate exchange does work only on Froyo (stock, Starburst) but fail to connect to server on Gingerbread CSW. I have tried Gingerburst, LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.1-Port-R2, RCMix S v2.0, InsertCoin 1.0.8 and all have same issue - server not available. Does GB identifies somehow differently? I know that server checks IMEI, but that is the same
Any hints would be welcome

[Q] HTC mail app for GNex

Hey all... I use Touchdown for my mail app. I need to be able to sync several subfolders and throttle my push/pull peak times. I can't do this with the stock mail app but I'll always seen the HTC mail apps be able to set peak times better and there are overall more features.
I was wondering if anyone has had any success, or if it was even possible, installing a HTC mail app to a rooted phone. I'm running Muzzy's 4.2.1 with a couple MODs, but no other add-ons or custom kernels.
Thoughts?
