Froyo supports multiple exchange servers, but the HTC sense email app does not.
Has anyone with a newer version of sense, or gingersense noticed if this has changed or not?
I have played with HD ROMs, but besides gmail I do not generally set up my exchange account on ROMs other than my "daily driver" (LeeDroid), so I've never tested this.
Has anyone else?
Hi Community/Devs,
Funny conversation with a friend who went and bought a Desire HD (because I recommended it to control his life and work on his emails, Exchange 2010).
After a long time of troubleshooting his issue where his emails cannot work on his Desire HD, he's called HTC themselves and they have told him that Exchange 2010 does not work on ANY of their devices (Android). Funny thing is... I have a normal Desire and my emails work perfectly on our Exchange 2010. My calendar, mail and contacts sync beautifully.
My mate, has problems syncing emails, contacts sometimes and calendar. Says it's connected but cannot send an email. This has been frustrating him as it is a fantastic phone, but can't get one of the most important things, emails, working on it and yet, it's perfect on mine.
Can anyone else confirm?
Thanking you all.
Hi,
nope the information from HTC is wrong. I have here two Exchange accounts on my Desire HD with Stock ROM. One is an Exchange 2007 and one a Exchange 2010. Both are working perfect as expected.
The question would be what the exchange system on the other side of the wire said when an error occured.
bye

Thank for the confirmation. I'm linking this thread to my mate who has the problem. He may have some questions. I don't have a Desire HD, but just the first Desire. I know not much difference, but in all, you're saying it works which is what I would like for him to know and maybe go back to HTC and tell them to shove... ok, maybe not, but at least ask again in a polite manner.
Maybe HTC were referrinmg to Hotmail Exchange with DHD.
Their stock mail app does not work with this model yet. For this, you need to install the stock Google mail app, Improved Email or a paid version (some with HTML) from the Market.
Not sure if this was what your looking for, as you didn't state MS Hotmail. But maybe the reason given by HTC.
Hotmail does work with DHD Stock on exchange, but only on the 2.2.1 version of the ROM. However there is a refreshing bug with it.. and also no HTML

Yes, there is that bug, that's why it doesn't work properly and unusable.

@OP: This is a Active sync issue, In Exchange 2010, active sync should be enabled for your friend;s profile for the sync to work. as him to check with this Exchange admin
Don't know if this may of any help but...here it goes

Cheers,
I've been syncing with Exchange 2010 with no issues since end last year.
I had a friend who was experiencing the same issue a while back - but only over WiFi (syncing was fine using data). We got his mail syncing over WiFi after temp rooting his phone with VISIONary and then installing ASProxy.. (for some unknown reason he didn't want to root his phone).
VISIONary: (can't find Market link)
ASProxy: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Alsu.ASProxy
hi,is anyone have issues with google syncing accounts such as contacts, weather etc on their desire?I've been trying to update them all morning but kept getting the following message "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".I'm in the Uk, using an unbranded and unrooted phone running an official android 2.2 froyo.
I have the same problem with contacts not doing the sync. I changed an e-mail address in a contact on my desktop browser yesterday, and when I wanted to e-mail that contact from the phone I still had the old address. I tried to sync, but no changes.
Anyone else? I think this is a long time issue for me, had problems with calendar sync too, wondering if there is anything to be done (except wait for gingerbread and hope that fixes it).
Stock, unbranded froyo.
Clear contact storage through settings-Application. Then sync.

That did it. Thank you!
I have now found a well functioning ROM, InsertCoins. The only thing that is not ok, is that I can't set up my Exchange account with ActiveSync in sense 2.1-3.0. Have tried several ROMS and have found that there must be something with the security policy in the sense 2.1-3.0 that is different. LeeDroids ROMs work "normally", but they do not have the user interface I want.
Got a tip about using TouchDown with ActivSync. It works, but then I'm stuck with touchdowns calendar, which I do not like anything special.
I'm surprised that I don't see many that have the same problem as me, so I wonder if there's something about the policy in my company who do this, or there are few that uses exchange account on their htc rooted desire .....
I'm running InsertCoin GB Sense v1.03 with Exchange Active Sync to our corporate mail server. Works just fine.
Our company uses a policy to force a PIN or password, with a maximum unlock time of 1 hour. Also it is Exchange Server 2007 (not sure which updates/fixes have been applied ATM).
Which version of Exchange Server is running in your organization?

I think that my company use Exchange Server 2007.
I get this message after I get through all registration and ready to finish...
"Exchange Policy error
Unable to sign in to your Wxchange account because your policy settings are incompatible with those on server.
Please contact your IT team for assistanse"
I believe that our security policy have max unlock time of 15 minutes..
Try another mail-client like e.g. K-9 Mail:

I can confirm that. No problems at all with Exchange integration. I have 3 (!) accounts push-synced on my RCMixS 1.6.2. Must be something else then.

In additional to the error message it says:
Security Policy Required
Policy Setting incompatible:
Allow storage card
Allow Desktop Sync
Contact your IT administrator for assistance...
I could stay at a working sense 2.1 version, but after seeing all the new features, I really whant to find out what it is that is not compatible. If not, I'll use Touchdown, it's the only way to get exchange to work.
So, what do Touchdown have/do, that can work around androids/my companys security??? I whish I knew... I hate the calendar in Touchdown, and I'm not able to use Jorte calendar or other calendars....
I did not have this problem with old interface, in any roms....
It makes me insane that I cant find out why this is....
Update: It was my company that had to make ajustments on exchange server to newer versions of Android. Now it works fine.
I have the same problem
I'm having the same issue. After running MikFroyo for about 6 months, I've been impatiently waiting for some GB rom to get stable and fully-functional enough to use as a daily--then of course as soon as I had a taste of Sense 3.0, that's what I want to run... For me, I'd be fine with using Touchdown (I just want the email), but I get the same error with that app as I get with Sense's embedded Exchange AS setup: Authentication error. I've checked and rechecked my username and password several times, and it works fine when I go back to Froyo (whatever sense). I'm on MikG sense 2.1v0.5, and I've tried VR Kingdom (Sense 3.0). I really like this MikG rom, that's pulled several elements of S3.0 into the 2.1, because it will run on my favorite kernel from way back in the Eclair days when I was running BakedSnack (this is the first GB ROM I've found that runs smoothly under my BakedBattery kernel-- hero-over #7).
I've rambled. I plan to check out some of the other mail programs mentioned above...
UPDATE: I tried Touchdown and k-9 Mail and DroidMail, all with unsuccessful results. I had submitted a case with the IT group at my company this morning and was waiting for some action on that (IT group is in India). A tech IM'd me and asked me what version of Android I was running--I told him 2.3.3, and he disappeared. So, I tried one more time on the native Exchange AS app, and viola, it worked--email, contacts, calendar are all syncing now. The notes in the case closure email state, "we have enabled your new device ID in server..." It seems like I noticed awhile ago that what my phone was called had changed, and I thought it was a GB thing, not a sense thing... Anyway, this may be a one-off case, or it may apply. Either way, I just wanted to update.
I also have problems using HTC's default mail client ever since Sense 2.1 and Sense 3.0.
I get the incompatibility with our corporate server due to:
- Remote Desktop
- Desktop sync
- S/MIME
Worked fine with Sense 2.0.
HTC must have changed/enhanced their security policy which has caused this issue.
Touch Down works, but if you actually go the "Security policies", it does mention incompatibilities with above, but it is ignoring them for now.
I wonder how one can report this to HTC?
I have similar problem - my corporate exchange does work only on Froyo (stock, Starburst) but fail to connect to server on Gingerbread CSW. I have tried Gingerburst, LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.1-Port-R2, RCMix S v2.0, InsertCoin 1.0.8 and all have same issue - server not available. Does GB identifies somehow differently? I know that server checks IMEI, but that is the same
Any hints would be welcome
