Yeah dude... it's so easy to find post 118 of that thread. The OP was right in posting this as it's own thread.

..........

I've bookmarked that link for those who, in a months time, insist on claiming there was never any set time frame. I should have done this with all of the other claims.
And if the page is somehow removed, I've copied it to paint.

Eh, there never was an official announcement that showed anything before March but at this point I'm not defending Microsoft til they give reason. It's an amazing OS but if they're just going to string people along then it's definitely losing ground in my book.

That's how I feel. But rationally thinking, why would a company handle business this way? It makes me think they are trying to iron out something completely unexpected; trying to capitalize on a sudden resource. I think once they finally do get past the first big update, things will go smoother and faster from then on. There's no rationality to a consumer oriented company (a company making efforts to be consumer oriented) putting off its customer base. There has to be a good reason for how things are going.
Maybe MS has its hands full of the carriers. Maybe the carriers are so badly locking down MS that they can't organize well enough. Too bad MS doesn't go with a single hardware market system and run with that. They would have complete control over the whole system, much like Apple does with the iPhone. Not saying it will happen, but speculatively speaking, MS just might be headed in that direction. If the carriers are, in fact, causing all the problems, MS might just get to a point where they will have had enough and discontinue multiple hardware support and focus on one specific handset...of their choosing. Then the carriers will get taught a valuable lesson.

90 days after CES, the date is right on time.

Windows Phone 7 is good OS but it is loosing grip because of the slow update... Same happened with Windows Mobile... Seems like M$ didn't learn from it... Well let's See how well M$ can keep up with the Android and IOS.... The Update that was supposed to released in Jan is Coming is End of March.... Such an Embarrassment......

No, they didn't. The assumption was made because there was a webpage hosted that had "january_update" in the URL. Assumptions were then made.

They honestly did, I remember seing it directly from a microsoft employee, not some crappy little website.

Yeah, please do show some proof because I'm quite certain if that was the case it would've come up on some tech blog. All of which ive been following daily since months before the initial release of WP7. Microsoft made no official announcement aside from "Early 2011." From there they went on to say "The first 2 weeks of March." Finally we come to where we're at today.

It was supposed to have been released on the 7th, but was pulled - yet again. The latest date I have is the 22nd.
What irks me is that this update is still the same old build that's been ready for deployment since January.

Where are you getting this information?

z33 is correct. Microsoft's only official announcment about the first update was Q1 2011. Which doesn't end until March 31st.
There were several rumors from various tech blogs about January and then February but nowhere has an official MS announcement been made on an exact day and/or time.
I've also been following about 10 or so tech blogs since about December.

it was always Q1 for the nodo and Q3 for the mango.... MS never give out dates... no one will give out dates for the updates come on...

And then when it comes out and has problems everyone will be crying about why they didn't beta test it more. Just relax people I want the update too but not enough to whine about it on the net. Just sayin'..

Since tom has posted this, most probably its real. And he is planning to release beta version soon.
What do you think is it real? If so it is a very good news for hd2 users.
Note:- I resized the pic so that its clearly visible.
if you consider that the HD was at first a WM7 test device.
and now HD2 is a MS Test Device. I would not be suprised at all to see this released.
Just because something is not getting an "offical" release does not mean anything.
I am not sure if XDA knows what the words "official release" means.
well pretty sure we knew it wouldn't be official but a test rom is EXACTLY what devs have been looking for since this debacle actually began
I can't wait for the release and that means the touch hd2 actually looks like a winner for me as the first wp7s device
but some questions
can one flash back to wm 6.5 or are we stuck
some more questions but good news time to blog!
I'm thinking this is legit. I was holding off on buying a HD2 but if this gets released, I'll be running to the nearest T-Mobile store.

What the hell? That's supposed to be the interface of WP7s? With those gigantic font sizes? One word per line?
What's the point of having 800x480 pixels if you use 60-point fonts? 5 lines of agenda per screen? Will it be able to display one calendar month in a single screen or will you only be able to look at 4 days at a time?
This is an interface for short-shighted people?
Hell, fortunately the people designing Windows 7 does not think that the people purchasing computers are 5-year old children, or 85 year-old. That is scared by more than 5 lines of text on a screen or having to think where to put their files.
I'm not going to purchase a new phone that is a tamagotchi for 5 year old children. Use have been using computers at home for 20 years, we're in 2010, not 1984...

well hopefully this is real. does anybody remember windows mobile on iphone?
Might be sensible to hold off from overly wild celebration just yet - I believe that if we do choose to flash it, there is no way back due to some fundamental changes in the bootloader.
Personally I'd be interested to have a look at it if I knew I could get back to something tried and tested again. Still, I'm sure the good people working on it will figure out a solution if we give them time and space.
I just hope it doesn't turn into an 'xda special' - a bunch of impatient ingrates hassling the developers to release it and then accusing them of being con artists if they don't do it in a timescale that suits...

French carrier Orange already has Mango phones to sell

It seems that a lot of carriers are ready to deploy Mango. French carrier Orange is one of them. Recently, a french owner of a LG Optimus 7 named Lionel used the warranty of his phone to get it replaced with a new one. I can't say how amazed he was when he noticed that his new device was already running WP 7.5 Mango !
Here's a picture he took himself to prove his statement :
{

}
Then he declared : everything is smoother and faster. Apps are integreted better. Every day I figure out another small feature that makes WP7 so wonderful. I'm so thrilled !
This great news show us mango is ready to be delivered and installed, yet Microsoft is still keeping it in a secret drawer no one has the key for.
From smartphonefrance.info
It's the same with Dell, I have a feeling that Mango will be released on the 23rd though.

Incorrect: Autumn begins on 1st September
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autumn
Autumn = Fall incase you were unsure
I've seen a few people say that begining of September is not Fall so now you can relay this correction if you see it posted.
Ofc if you're from North America you have diffrent ways of doing every thing compared to the rest of the world so maybe later in September (ie the September equinox) is when you consider Autumn to start, Dam moon lovers
Given that here in Russia they started selling WP7 phones on Sep 16th, the first phone is Mozart, and it runs Mango, it's safe to say that the update is ready, with OEM drivers and all that.
So I guess there may be two reasons for the delay:
1. There are problems with Microsoft's update infrastructure.
2. Microsoft is waiting for AT&T (and probably other important carriers) or Samsung to avoid the PR trouble they ran into last time.
On a side note, a weird thing is that Mozart is marked as "Top seller" on MTS (largest Russian operator) website, and it seems to have sold out in most stores over the weekend.

Actually there are two definitions. Either you seperate the seasons into months and then Fall is September, October and November.
But it is more accurate to take the tropic of cancer/capricorn into account because these acutally have a meaning and are not made up dates, and then September 23rd is the start of fall.
Also Joe Belfiore tweeted a link to a webpage stating september 23rd is the start of fall and that's all that really matters.

[Updated] ICS release imminent...August 2012??

Not that we didn't already know this, but I figured it'd be something to post. Was chatting to a Sprint person (or robot, not sure) about the picture compressing issue (which he said he reset and would be fixed in about 15 minutes) and at the tail end, I asked when they would be releasing ICS for the Epic 4G Touch and he said "it will be releasing in the mid [middle] of the year", meaning this month or next month (probably this month).
Just thought I'd share, although it may or may not mean much.
(Mind you, I'm already aware of the official leaks from Samsung, but I was just curious.)

Exactly, under promise and over deliver, typical sales practice.
Yeah, given the maturity of FD26, there's no way it'll be another 3 months.
Most likely the system says mid-year, so the rep was assuming the end of summer to be safe.

I could deal with that too.
I'd rather have them do that than over promise which is what they usually did in the past.
I'm thinking official release may be June or July. The way these software releases usually go, sprint may have the final product by next week, but they will want to push their newest ics phones first, trying to get people to resign contracts and fork out some cash. Then the update is "conveniently" released after a month or 2 of new phone sales. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

If it does take until August then sprint needs some better techs. There would be no reason for a delay that long. The leaks we have now are 99% good to go, I could not image what would take them so long.

That is not right. The verge must not have any lawyers on staff. The 9th Circuit issued two orders; 1) there will be no temporary stay on the tab 10.1, 2) before they act on the GNex (as in suspend the temporary injunction or not) they want a reply from Apple by July 12.

Actually they do have at least one writer that is a lawyer. And what is wrong with their article? They stated that Apple has to respond before the judge will decide on keeping the ban before trial.

Google isn't bound by the order, AFAIK. They are probably changing the firmware and didn't want people waiting / getting upset that the phone they ordered isn't shipping for another 3 weeks, so they took down the order form.

I actually didn't read the verge article until just now.
But there are 2 stays at issue here. There's an immediate stay which lasts from today until whenever the court has an opportunity to read Apple's reply (2 weeks probably). Then there's a temporary stay pending appeal which would last from the end of any immediate stay until appeal (several months, maybe years).
The immediate stays were decided but the temporary stays were not.
The orders pertaining to the GN are broken into two parts as visible on the courts website. The part you snipped from the PDF was for the galaxy tab case which has a different court file number. If you'd actually read the one PDF included in the verge article and the other from the courts website you will see the article is correct. That the preliminary injunction pertaining to the galaxy nexus is temporarily stayed until apple responds by July 12th and until the court reviews the response and makes a decision.

they are bound by the play store though. We could throw out 10 different scenarios, but its all speculation and assumptions. I'm just looking forward to a new device, so naturally impatient
IMHO, this is what Sammy/Google need to do...
Sell as many as possible at or just above cost to blow out as many units as possible before the ban takes effect again. I'm sure there would be quite a few sold along the way to the ban again... at least they could sell thru what ever inventory they might have. Just to get it into as many hands as possible. They could even ship them with IDs from the IO conference so Jelly Belly would be OTA automatically.
I dunno... don't want to sound like a fan boy but Apple would probably claim predatory pricing or something.
I placed my order in the play store on July 3rd...and just recently found out about this ban lol! Damn you apple for delaying my order!!
looks like its back for sale... but seems they adjusted the estimated shipping to "Ships when Available" when its in your cart..
O well, purchased and hopefully in the queue. Hopefully it will ship sooner than their estimate of 2-3 weeks.

I read about OnePlus getting new people to make a team to work on Open Beta for 9/9Pro.
I like that!
New team is not something to like. It might be good but also be a disaster. Questions should be asked like WHY????? are they getting a new team? What happened to all the revenue they made and how are they using it? Who is controlling the company, One Plus or the Chinese government? Why the delay to begin with. I realized DP1 was developers preview and not beta but why not allow Google updates for DP 2 and three. Who cares that Oxygen was not on it yet. Now that stability been reached with Beta, let's us Early Adopters adopt. I refuse to buy a Google Pixel love my one plus but was so excited that it allowed BL to be unlocked but I feel let down by OP. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic to begin with

This update is from June. (end of the month)
There's an update (11.2.8.8) from July. (end of month)
So, following this logic, this week OnePlus might release a new one.

I'd be more worried if the US government was running it like apple with the new back door.

Lol US government and Chinese as well because even though apple says they are all American blah blah but they are manufactured in China as well. Just all marketing etc
People get married, have kids, no more time to spend on Android. Priorities change.

I also think not only priorities of people's lives but also Android itself and the huge slowdown of phone evolution. Actual since smartphone sales slowed companies like apple and Google created smart watches to help increase revenues. They first used the old nostalgic movies like knight rider or James bond to sell them even though Smart watches cannot do anything close to what the movies portrayed. You can make flippable phones but you won't see hologram s coming out of your phone. I know we love to always think of our technology being limitless but that dam law of physics keeps getting in the way. So now they will start with AR glasses with WebView capabilities. And when that fails, which it will because who wants a HUD I'm their line of sight. In 30 years we will events have implants and chips that will help the brain and technology link. Isn't it Neurolink that exists now. That technology is decades away. Because again we do not know how the body/brain will react and now I'm having flashback from the movie Black Mirror.

Ain't no updates that can save this POS.
the support update page is only updated from time to time, it does not repesent the actual stage of the software.
At this point 11.2.8.8 is up 2 date. OnePlus updates bi-monthly.

There's closed beta testing so maybe devs are focusing to it. Sad to see no fix for Gmail notification bug...

I think the gmail app just sux. I've experienced the late notifications across quite a few devices personally.
Oxygen sucks because of google. The more google on it the more bad Oxygen will be.
Also the King of Bloatware, samsung already gets Androis 12.
And OnePlus release 9R or something...
They are starting the ultimate consolidation of Oxygen OS into Color OS. How is OnePlus going to manage all these phones? Do they even have enough staff to manage all these phones?
Unfortunately they only update bi-monthly.
I saw a user suggest on their official forums basically say "hey guys, how about monthly updates like your competition?" in a friendly way, and a mod basically said **** off and closed the thread. I wasn't impressed.
This was my first OnePlus device, maybe my last.
That 12 Beta debacle was ridiculous.
After having the 7, 8, & 9 Pro, I will be leaving the building as well!
Is this a joke? About month last update and now ppl are think this is over. How do u even can survive this life?
I like how people actually think theres a decent alternative to oneplus these days. At least not in the US. Maybe google if the pixel 6 is actually premium/flagship this time. Otherwise theres no other brand with an unlockable bootloader, which is how they get away with so much bloat. Personally im fine of oneplus becomes a little more like the others as long as the hardware is premium and the bootloader is unlockable.
9 Pro is my first and last phone from OP if they can't get they BS sorted out. The phone has horrible battery life, scrolling issues, and it doesn't get better with next updates. Also, wtf is that BS with the bi-monthly update scheudle? A device like this should be fixed ASAP, the users are experiencing problems and neet to wait, the hell is that policy? Would they wait 2 months to release an update if someone would find a security bug too? So stupid. Get your **** together OnePlus.
