DHD uk t-mobile 1.75.110.2 cl301245 OTA rom? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

anyone have this? i want to debrand my phone but would like to be able to restore in case i need to take it in for repair

I've heard talk on XDA of people just flashing stock RUU on a branded phone and HTC don't mind, so long as you're not sending it back with a custom ROM. I'd see if you can get anyone else to confirm this first though

Need help debranding Orange HTC Desire for Stock Froyo

Hey guys,
I am a total newb on all this debranding, flashing business. Spend the past week checking all sorts of forums etc and also waiting endlessly for froyo to be released to our Desires! Problem is i am still a bit unclear, so if anyone could give me help, that'd be really nice
Ok, here is the thing:
I have an Orange branded phone, got it via phones4u on orange, ive already unlocked it with a code and currently using 02 Sim on it.
I'd like to retain my warranty, so wouldn't like to root, so my other choice is flashing it right ? :S
I just want the stock froyo on my HTC, but since its orange branded i heard that there might be some problems with radio or something :S
Tbh, I dont even know what radio means! LOL i just want the stock Froyo released by HTC, on my phone without waiting for orange to bring their crapped down version
Any help, please!!!
PS: ive got a spar memory card for any gold card business, just need some pointers for that
De-branding could technically void your warranty but you'll need to search for making a goldcard on the forum and then flash with either 2.1 and update via OTA or Froyo (though I'm not sure that's possible just yet).
oh i see , once i flash it , will i have to install anything else like radios etc? :S
By using the stock rom, does it mean that, next time htc releases a update i can just do it ota?
there is no other way apart from voiding warranty is there ?:S
As you've already unlocked you're good to go! The whole thing should take about 30 minutes but you'll lose all you're data.
I think you'll have to void your warranty but I reckon it's worth it to rid of Monopoly, Bowling, and Orange-bloody-Messenger and get Froyo now.
just one thing what are the chances of my phone bricking up and where can i get the stock rom with froyo released by htc? Also once i got the stock rom, what happens with updates? will OTA be working properly or do i have to reflash it everytime there is an update??
can someone show me a step by step guide on how to do this all? :O

Well I've just stepped through that portal... Unlocked the phone then OTA 2.1 update followed by OTA 2.2 stock rom. Now running Froyo on 'Orange' phone.
Flawless, just going through my apps now. Needed the newest version of HTC Sync though.

UK voda Desire - can I get 2.2 in USA??

Guys, My Desire is a standard Voda unlocked one, unrooted and I have thankfully NOT downloaded the latest bloatware from VF. I'm going to the USA and Canada this weekend and I want to know if:
1. It's possible that I may offered the chance to update to 2.2 when I'm on an overseas network (using wifi)
2. Should I do it if the offer is there - is there any risk of the phone not working with VF when I get back to the UK?
Root your phone using UnrEVOked, and then apply a rooted 2.2 update manually.
Given that the new hboot from the OTA is currently unrootable, it will give you so many more options down the line.
Regards,
Dave
I don't really want to root to be honest. I'd like to try and stay with all the official updates as I don't feel comfortable doing this to my phone in case I screw it up!
Anyone help with the original question?

[Q] Send back branded Desire which was bought as unbranded or get 40 Euro compensatio

Hi everyone,
as can be seen in the title I got a branded Desire although i bought it as unbranded.
Long story short: I am now undecided what to do and it depends on the following:
So after hours of reading I am still not sure if it is possible and safe to completely remove the branding and have a permanently unbranded desire with official european rom and radio with which I can receive further updates from google/htc OTA at no risk AS IF I HAD BOUGHT AN UNBRANDED ONE. (I am not interested in custom roms etc since I have that with an earlier htc winmo device and ended up with backupping, restoring, flashing every second day and it costs me a lot of time)
The warranty is not so much an issue. But as far as I know I can completely revert the debranding process through nandroid... (?)
I would really appreciate any answers to wether it is possible to turn my desire into a "official/original" unbranded one.
Thx

Yes. Root & apply a stock (rooted) ROM. Problem solved. But if you accept any OTA update, you lose root.
You don't have to root but then you'll not be able to go back unless you can find the ROM that's on your device. Just make a goldcard and flash with a WWE or Europe ROM.
Thx for the answers.
A few more questions came up for both methods though.
in general:
where can i find a pure stock rom? in the wiki there is only a link to a 1.15 one.
for johnstevedoe's method:
loosing root is no problem since i dont need it. as i said i want to use it like a stock one and be able to recieve updates without having to wipe the phone.
i cant remember where but i read that ppl who had branded desires (i think orange) and used the ota update got further problems with their wifi etc. so it seems that there is still provider specific software (or hardware??) in the phone and it is therefore not behaving like a unbranded one. i guess if i dont encounter problems with the 2.2 update i might get some with future updates.
for steve228uk method:
do ihave to leave the gold card in the phone?
do i have to put it in for the ota updates?
and lastly, is there any resource for the original shipped branded roms? the xda wiki only links to one unbranded stock rom.
Thx for ur help
Dizzel
There was shippedroms.com but HTC asked the guy not to release the ROMs. You only need the one update: WWE 1.21 or 1.15 and then OTA up to 2.2 Froyo. You don't have to leave the goldcard in there but it's definitely safer if you shove it in for OTA updates as some people have had issues when they hadn't used it.

so that means that it is not possible to fully debrand with this method in some cases?
do you know anything about the method using unrevoked? is this capable of turning the desire into a unbranded one since it replaces the whole rom and parts of the boot etc. how can there still occur problems with ota when all branded software was replaced?
cheers

[Q] Question about updating to Orange FroYo when its available.

I have a rooted HTC Desire on orange. When Orange finally release FroYo will I be able to update it on my saved orange backup or will I not be able to update as there is no way of returning to the stock orange ROM.
If it was an unrevoked3 root and you backed it up without changing anything you may be able to apply the update, but there's a good chance of it not working.
Aww typical will there ever be an RUU for Orange UK?
None so far... maybe the froyo one will get leaked.
I hope it does as I want froyo but I dont want to have to unbrand incase of warranty issues.
Ask Orange if they will honour a warranty if you flash the phone with unmodified official HTC software. They should, but check.
Why do you think it has been harder for the Orange RUU to be leaked but not the O2 or vodafone one?
Why not just debrand via goldcard and update to Froyo?

If i needed to replace because of warranty and its on an unbranded rom i doubt they would accept it.

You should check that with Orange... they may well do, as long as it's not rooted.
Yea I will check with them. I'd still rather have the phone unrooted and on orange but i guess I will need to wait.

[Q] Vodafone Australia Stock ROM?

Sorry, I hate to be 'that' new guy, and I'm normally not. BUT. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the stock Vodafone AU ROM? And preferably some method to get my friends phone back to stock?
It's got to go in for warranty repairs, and in the now-distant past I've rooted and done s-off as wel.

Follow the guide in the wiki to unroot, the original ROM should be available at shipped-roms.com
