I am running Genocide 0.3 with setCPU set to 1.2 Ghz and performance. I am getting scores lower than a 1.0 Ghz stock Epic with 2.2. I am getting 1113 and 2435 at 1.2 Ghz. That is definitely an improvement over stock EB13 where I was gettin 300-400 less on each. What could be slowing my Epic down?
Thanks.

Those scores aren't really all that bad. Not great, but not bad!
If it helps any (and might make you feel better ) run Smartbench again and note the scores of the next 2 or 3 phones below your score. Run Smartbench again and see what the scores are listed at for those same phones again and you will see that they have changed.
I'm sure that Smartbench is one of the best benchmark programs out because of they way it tests, but the "comparison" output it gives leaves a lot to be desired.
In any case, scores also vary based on what things are running in the background when the test is performed. (IE: As soon as the phone is booted up, immediately after killing apps/tasks, etc.)
Edit: The way a Rom is optmized has a lot to do with it as well. What Rom are you running with the Genocide kernel?

Well I jumped in to EXT 4 and Bonsai and bricked my phone, which only confirms my phone was flaky from the start. So I Odin'd the EB13 Deodexed with EXT4 and then Bonsai on top of that, restored with Titanium and VOILA, superfast! I finally beat the stock Epic and just about tie with that LG on top! Thank you all for the advice.

running syndicate rom on eb13 ext4
Which SmartBench are you running? 2010 or 2011? If you're running 2011, the scores are going to be lower because he changed the baseline.
My scores on 1.2Ghz, Syndicate ROM are 949 and 2264 but significantly lower than the 2010 version which was (going from memory) around 1300 and 2900.
The way I use these benches are firstly against my own phone. The first numbers are my base and then I only compare against myself.
Secondly, you'll have to go to the website to filter the score results, but you'll compare your phone ONLY with those of the same phone.
Thirdly, once it's been established that all units are being run against the same tool, you can compare your marks against others.
Not saying my way's the only way of looking at things or that it's better; just that I do it this way.

1.7 seems right on the edge... mine will run there for a little while; sometimes even long enough to get through the benchmark but it's never long before it hangs and/or reboots itself.
(Running calk 2.8.1, 75mv UV, w/ gunslinger kernel and overstew ICS btw; been considering trying OC w/ less uv to see if its more stable but since I'm usually uc'd for daily use haven't bothered yet.)

in my rooted room setcou and other tools shows the cpu as stock or base at 1.0ghz but will let me overclock it to 1.2 not 1.5 where it should be on stock rom it was stuck at one and on the sony ported one it will let me goto 1.6 but it get real hot and unstable at 1.5 whats the deal did we gt lied to on the cpu thats realy in the phone fior specs?
A stock Epic 4G Touch is 1.2 ghz.
It's 1.2 Dual core

if ur running any custom rom with a battery saver script they most likely have it set to 1.0ghz sometimes even lower just regular usage i have it set to 800 and it runs smooth as silk ..if your not doing anything extreme you might never notice a difference by overclocking... actually im lying there is a deference the bugs that come with extreme overclocking not to mention the reduced life of your phone...but i think we're all guilty of overclocking just to do it.. and most of us just to brag about quadrant scores here's mine over clocked at 1.6 on performance with blendz rom but got really buggy

Yup!
I posted this in the AOKP thread actually. I saw it fly past my twitter that it was updated for GalaxySII but figured it was for the international versions, or for that matter just non-sprint. But I updated it and it does indeed allow overclocking.
Yeah, pretty freaking sweet....cant wait to see how much more I can get out of the battery now.
I'll be even more excited when we have the source for the kernel. I would like to see some more governors available, such as Smartass. The three we have available, User Space, On Demand and Performance aren't really spectacular, though they do the job.

I subtracted 75mv from all of the voltages. So it is undervolted by 75mv. Definitely seeing longer battery life than yesterday, but the rom was also flashed yesterday, so it might just be settling in.
I have had numerous kernel panic lockups and spontaneous reboots trying to use tegrak at speeds and voltages that were perfectly stable on 2.3. I even tried to go a little higher on voltages. Still reboots. Think it just isn't ready for primetime yet.

Calkulins roms have the battery saver script in them that controls the CPU clock. Even if you over clock on Calkulins, it will go back to whatever his script says unless his script allows the app that your using to overclock.
His script disables if it sees any other app that controls cpu.
Dicho por el E4GT de latinmaxima
I would see absolutely no need to overclock this phone, but I can definitely get behind undervolting at stock speed. Neato.
just installed and oc'd to 1.3ghz, and undervolted by -75 for each frequency. Also, somewhat weird is that no benchmark shows a second core. Does AOKP not use both cores?

This. Quadrant faking was very popular during the EC05 days. The main reason you get these scores is that kernels from those time have insane EXT4 tweaks to disable not only journaling, but another form of keeping data. They also have other tweaks to make quadrant go crazy. Admittedly, I have included such tweaks in my older ROMs. I was able to achieve a quadrant score of about 5000...
On MIUI (the gingerbread version) I do not get insane faked scores but my apps open instantly and I get no lag at all... SRF is very outdated and can softbrick your phone even if the battery just falls out or you get a random reboot (due to the tweaks).
I remember the transition from froyo to gingerbread. The phone itself seemed a lot faster but the quadrant scores went down until I added the tweaks that boosted it. Seriously, do not use quadrant or any other tool to judge speed.

I thought the e4gt would get over 8000 if not close to 9000. but I can for some reason the best ROM I can find is just alike 7600+ and that's with it clock at 1.6. Can someone point me in the right direction? OP yea one last thing how come every ics ROM I tried has some serious low benchmarks I thought ics was going to be God compared to GB?
