Your phone is in a bootloop, pull the battery go into recorvery pwr+vol down. Restore a backup of an old ROM, or you can try to just pull the battery and try turning it on normally, but you might get caught in bootloop. If you're in that boot animation it will take a while for battery to die.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
I tried that but the boot loop is still in effect... should i just wait till the battery is dead to try to recover my old rom?
Just go into recovery and restore you're old ROM.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Just restore to an older backup, or put a new ROM on your SD Card (using a reader obviously) and flash that. Make sure you wipe data/cache/dalvik (in advanced menu)
Just make sure that if you have been letting the battery die to let it charge via the wall outlet first. Don't ever try to flash anything on a low battery. Battery goes while you flash important stuff... you could be in deeper trouble.

My battery indicator gets stuck so that it does not show battery drain.
When I unplug from my AC wall charger in the morning it stays at 100% all day long, unless I reboot my phone or connect to my computer via USB. Rebooting the phone causes it to show a reasonable battery level, but connecting it to computers via USB has the weird effect of making the battery level show a gradual decrease, even though I think it is charging! Connecting it to the wall charger just makes the level go up from wherever it currently is, and does not seem to trigger the reevaluation of current battery level. I tried loading the app "Battery Indicator" and it showed the same results as the stock indicator.
It has been happening for a couple months now, but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Verizon's Nov OTA update (which I had to do manually because I use PagePlus Cellular, or because I'm rooted, or something). I have tried multiple batteries, and I even tried restoring my phone back to right after the Nov OTA using a Nandroid backup. I was tempted to restore the pre Nov OTA Nandroid bkup, but was scared of bricking my phone.
It's a rooted S-off DINC, software version 3.26.605.1, and I'm just running the stock ROM, Kernel, etc. Nothing fancy here, and the only apps I have that require root are Ti Backup Pro, Root Explorer Pro, and AdFree. My wife has the same phone & setup and does not have the problem.
It's a refubished phone and it came with a Motorola wall charger instead of a DINC charger, as did my wife's.
Any ideas on whether this is a hardware or software issue, and how I can resolve this?
btw, this is an awesome forum/community and I really appreciate all the hard work put in by developers, super users, and other nice people.
I would do part 2 in this guide to get back to comeplete stock, no root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436
Just copy the at PB31IMG to the root of your sd card, boot into bootloader and let it update from there. Then see if the problem still persists, if so, take it back to verizon for a new one.
If the battery starts working normally, then re root it, and lets us know if the problem comes up again after re rooting. (it shouldn't)
Have you tried clearing battery stats thru clockworkmod? And fixing permissions they rom manager?

I went back to complete stock per your instructions, but unfortunately it didn't do the trick.
I have now gone back to my Nandroid backup, and I'm hoping something else comes along because I can't take the phone back to Verizon. I bought it from ebay from a seller that refurbishes them, so I guess I'm stuck with the phone. At least it's not a huge problem.
Thanks for the suggestion and the link. Any other suggestions would still be welcome.

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention that I have tried clearing the battery stats thru clockworkmod, but that didn't fix the problem.
I don't have rom manager. I don't know much about it, but do you think that might help, given that going back to stock did'nt work? If so, is it pretty self explanitory (if I download it from the mkt)?
I would just pick an established ROM, do a wipe with recovery and install the ROM.
I highly recommend ROM Manager since it is a one stop way to install the ROM. Just put the ROM on your SD card, start ROM Manager, pick install from SD Card, select the ROM, choose wipe and OK
Yeah since you bought it off of ebay you can't take it back. Have you tried a program like battstatt? Install that and see if that will give you the correct percentage. I know it doesn't fix your problem, but if that always says 100% then it isn't a rom problem but a hardware problem i would think.
I have tha same problem, only solution is moded battery indicator with percentage, works flawlessly.

Thanks! I have tried a couple with no luck, so I'm glad to hear there is one out there that will work. Can you please let me know which app worked for you?
out of the blue, my phone began to reboot , and turn off and reboot again.
in the forum ive found a lot of fixes but nothing that helps me!
when im trying to go to recovery it goes to the white screen and loops again,
and by the way it reads in green letters pc36100img no found.
help please!!!
thanks
have u tried dropping the 100 and naming it "pc36img" instead of "pc36100img"? i believe thats what it should be named. What rom were u running when this happened?
haha sorry about that
i was running cm7 nightly build 8
also ive tried putting the pc36img.zip on the sd card but nothing, it doesnt read it !!
It has to be all caps as in PC36IMG.zip, and then boot into the boot loader.
im sorry im an idiot, yeah i put the PC36IMG (all caps)on the sd card, it updates but same problem, i even pulled out the battery to brick it! but dammit the same problem!! urgh!!

You're not the first person I've seen that happen to recently on certain nightlies. Unfortunately, in all of the other cases I saw, they weren't able to recovery. RUU didn't work, PC36IMG didn't work, formatting the sd card didn't work, it just looped at the splash screen every time. PC36IMG flashes even appeared to be successful, but it would never get past the looping splash screen. I'm not sure if anyone ever came up with a fix, but when I was following the thread, one dude threw the phone out the window of his car and told sprint he lost it. The other guy went through insurance and shelled out the $100 to get a new replacement. I hope you have better luck. I would try flashing PC36IMG again, or setting hte phone in fastboot mode, and running an RUU. If that doesn't work, I don't think there is too much else to try, that I'm aware of at least. Here is a link to all of the RUU's and PC36IMG's. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060&highlight=hboot-0.97+ruu
Yeah cm7 seems to do that to some peoples phones, including mine. I found no solution, as far as I could tell ur only option is a new phone.

Hey Guys-
Couldnt find a thread similar so I'll start my own.
6 days ago i updated my rom to CM 7.0.3 and the newest version of Savaged Zen Kernel (dont remember version). Everything was fine until leaving work last night and it began to boot loop in my pocket while driving home. Phone had worked as normal all day (web, text, talk), no changes made to phone either. The only thing i can do is get into the bootloader (by holding power and volume up). Although when i try to enter recovery from there to flash a backup, it just puts me back into the boot sequence again. Any help guys?
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...ersonic-v2.3 - xda-developers&txt=PC36IMG.zip
download that rename PC36IMG and put on root of sd card now go into bootloader go into fastboot and it should stay start update press volume up for yes and then when its done put yes it gonna reboot now take out battery put it in evo again and go into bootloader againthen from bootloader go into recovery from there and you should see amon-ra and from there try to do a nandroid or flash a new rom
I got the update to go through, but now when it prompts me for a reboot it just keeps looping. Even when i select no i dont want to reboot and then try and go into recovery, it loops.
try taking out battery for 2 hours and try again
cool will let it rest and let you know the results when I try again.

Do you have insurance on your Evo? Is it still within it's 1 year warranty? It sounds like you got the eternal bootloop of death. Is your bootloader S-on or S-off? The condition you're experiencing is unexplained and usually not fixable. running an RUU is your only hope, and if that failed...your pretty much out of luck.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009672&highlight=boot+looping+no+recovery+access
Yea I'm pretty sure it is still under warranty. I got the phone last August. My bootloader is S-Off. Ill check that thread out.
All you should need to do is wipe and re flash cm7... Our write and re store a back up
Sent by Supersonic!
could be the battery is bad and it is just not getting a constant connection, thus boot looping. i had this issue with a bad battery, swapped it out, no problems
For the record, I mis-spoke...

Yea Its not taking anything I flash onto it. No way to get the S On back either. After reading that thread its looking like I am gonna have to somehow fully brick it and take it back to Sprint for a new one......UGH!
First, there are a lot of instances of this happening. Well, not a LOT, but there are several threads about it.
Anyhow, give me a few minutes to upload a file to my mediafire. It's a walk through someone on here wrote that is very detailed and it takes some work, but if everything else fails, it has been known to work.
I'll post the link in a few.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?9zc41jsfs7sm1qf
That's it.
You said that you installed the new recovery and still getting loops. That's because you didn't do anything in recovery. Go into recovery and try wiping cache/dalvik cache. See if it boots. If it doesn't go back into recovery go to the wipe menu and wipe everything except SD card and rotate settings. Reflash cm7 and it should work. Loops are a common thing and easy fix
P.s. I don't know if you did this but ill throw it in there anyway. You have to wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing new kernels.

You can get s-on with 2 files one you flash in recovery the other in the bootloader (the same way you updated to amon recovery). I would post a link but can't cuz I'm on my evo. Just go into the evo development section and there is a thread like 2nd or 3rd page maybe farther back that is called "how to unroot in 2 steps" or something like that. Just did it for a friend 2 days ago so I know it works.

The issue is that I cannot get into recovery AT ALL. Have tried numerous things. It just wont go into recovery. I bit the bullet and took it into the Sprint Store, they pulled up bootloader and never noticed the S Off at the top. Unfortunately my phone had undergone some sort of water damage. (?) So they were unable to do anything for me, looks like ill be paying the $100 deductible for the refurb.
On a side note the tech at the store told me he has been harvesting parts from evos and epics, and has amassed quite a collection of odds and ends, and that if I ever needed a screen replaced, etc. He would do it under the table for a small charge instead of going through the insurance company. Since i still have the phone ill try all these things again just to see if I can get it working again.
@HipCat- Posted before i read your post....Ill try those steps here in a minute. Thats something I have not tried.

I cant get into recovery.....
The first thing I flashed was Viper. I loved it at first, then I froze Rosie to speed things up. I started having battery drain, so I started looking for other roms to try, but I did enjoy this one!
Now I am having charging issues - I've spent hours reading posts about this, can't even get the Anker external charger to work, but that's another story. It might be the port, but even with a battery at 100% it will just dive, for no reason or use. Usually with the wall charger, it just drains the battery, without use.
I've tried flashing Incredibly Paranoid Final, CM7 Nightly, CM10. I've followed the steps to the letter, wiping, wiping, wiping, doing the anti-viper super wipe .. Every time I end up stuck with the boot screen that never actually progresses onward.
I know there has to be an answer somewhere. The battery got down to 18% so I decided to post this in frustration. It's at 31 now, so at least it's charging this time, if I'm careful not to move it.
I just want to flash a different rom!
Can anyone see something that I could be doing wrong?
Thanks
Yay, I figured it out! Even after all of my searching to no avail!
I do NOT have S-off, and I didn't realize that. Once I did, I knew I had to do that one last step after flashing!! The bootimg step!
I'm really excited, I managed to find my way through!
Install Evervolv or PAC final
Use the superduperwipe its stickied
So that it won't freeze at boot
Remember to install the correct gapps for PAC is the 20121110 and for evervolv its anything after that but becareful

I actually DID install PAC Final Lovin' it so far, too!
I used the SDWipe, it's in that thread too.
I do need to update gapps though, I used the 07262012 one. I'll do that now. I knew that anything after October something was going to be a later version of jb than it should be.
OK, rock and roll! I love this
Thanks!
Yeah if ur not s-off ull have to manually flash the kernel each time via fastboot. But if u use chilly's anti viper zip in the misc section of the incrediblychilly forum itll do better on u when u flash roms keeps from boot looping. Im s-off and when i used the viper rom after i wanted to go back to aosp it kept boot looping. I used the anti viper zip even if i go from one aosp rom to another. It wipes deep leaving no trail unlike doing a regular wipe in recovery. Give it a try and click thanks if this was helpful.

Did you use Odin to flash Samsung ROM.
Did you wipe the system etc... before you flashed the stock ROM. I read somewhere that Odin does not wipe anything. So that maybe the problem.

Since you don't know the exact procedure followed to install stock samsung rom, I have to assume that the phone was not wiped properly. So in order to fix any software related issue, I recommend the following procedure.
1- root your phone.
2- Flash CWM
3- Boot into CWM and wipe everything... Format system, data, sdcard etc..Everything ...
4- Put your phone in to download mode and using odin flash samsung rom.
I know it is a long procedure but this way you will make sure it is not software related...
But before doing all this, you may wanna ask others, who are on stock rom, to check how their devices perform on the game you mentioned. Maybe it is a very demanding game and heats the device up. If that is the case, than you are out of luck... Then it means our device is not fit for that game. Too high of a temperature, any device will stop working and reboot.
Good luck.
Same thing for my friend's. His Galaxy W started rebooting and ended up going into a bootloop. We tried wiping and formatting everything through recovery, but it does nothing.
We then tried flashing back to stock through odin but the phone can't get into download mode, because it reboots everytime we tried.
So the phone ran out of battery and we tried to charge it. Unfortunately, it kept rebooting and even after an hour, there seems to be completely no charge at all. Still in bootloop.
I need a solution or suggestion because he is feeling rather frustrated now lol.

have you try to pull out the sim and the micro sdcard then try again to get to download mode?
i dunno if this related but better to try it than not..
It might be your battery and that's why it rebooting,it can't charge up enough so it reboots.
Should not be rebooting in CMW,Mine works fine on Cm9,10,10.1.
